Potentials and Ideas for G Watch (and other Wear devices) - LG G Watch

Hey folks,
the first week with my new G Watch is over and im still impressed of the simple daily usefulness of it.
I´m kinda an early adopter and do like the freaky stuff as well (of course i had to try Flopsy Droid and so on...) but the potential in daily usage is huge I guess!
Every day a few new thoughts came to my mind, what feature I would love to have and what modification would be useful.
So I wrote some down and I think, I´m not alone with this, am I? ?
So here is my list and I will update it regularly. What ideas do u all have when using the G Watch?
Hopefully some modder, programmers or GoogleGuys get lost here
Google / System / gApps:
Maps:
- Proximity warning/information for Google locations (vibration if a friend is in a specified radius around me)
- Show small map with friend location….
- simple function: showing a map with my position on it….
gMail-App:
- Button for Deleting email
- Button for Subject and/or Text when answering or composing
- Possibility to scroll through email headers (like calendar) and open them up for reading
Settings:
- Vibration setting (duration, intensitiy, etc. depending on event
- Free choosable Apps i.e. for weather forecast etc.
Voice commands:
- “Where is contact.name?” (Shows a little map and the distance to this person)
- “Lights on” (start flashlight app or (later hardware versions…) LED)
- “Hangout to contact.name: xyz” / “Whatsapp to contact.name: xyz / and so on...
- possible to dictate punctiuation marks in german as well.. my god… cant be so hard if implemented in english for a LONG time now….
App Ideas / Wishes:
Speedometer for Cycling etc (already partly realized with "Speedometer")
WhatsApp !! Whats taking so long?
News / Headlines (App that just shows Headlines of ie. RSS feeds, with a touch you can read the whole story on the watch
App that can record Voice commands and open a specific APP for this command (on watch or phone)
Remote control apps (like for samsung TVs) should work with WEAR.. so i can switch channels and so on with my watch
Hardware: (my G Watch 2 should have...)
One or even 2 cameras, for selfies etc.
brigthnessensor for autom. display illumination
little speaker ( just for plings, alarm clock, etc)
LED for flashlight and for status messages
infrared for using it as remote control

Doesn't it already work like that? If I have multiple emails I only see the header and the first line and when I click on the the whole thing opens for reading.

Just disable the weather card in google now and use your own favorite forecast app. This works perfectly already. But maybe I don't quite get what you mean here ^^

Yeah would be really useful. And yes better german implementation is a must So many commands still only work in english :S

Hi, nice weather
can u tell me where i get
Requires: http.dll, formlib.dll, FilesEx.dll
also need: .NET3.5 and NETCFv35.Messages.EN.cab
hope can add few features:
WIND <- this one pls
RealFeel <-this one no rush
Presure & ETC
really nice, how about an addition for maps, just the like marsware's weather panel if you've ever used it, there they ask for the URL of the map image and they just keep fetching it.
Doesent work:Error Loading Program
Pocket Weather is the commercial name of SBSH's app....
You'd better find another name for this soft...
Why not :
Pocket Hurricane
Pocket Forecast
TTWWY : Take The Weather With You
TTWWU : Take The Weather With U
T2W2U : Same, but more like modern apps... A_C
Hope this will help...

The same here. I have only NET CF2.0, I think the app need CF3.5
I disagree

If we already have Marsware that doesn't need NET CF3.5, why not just keep this one nice and simple.
Once youo start adding features galore it just get too resource hungry (memory!)

Sorry about that - I did not use the correct compiler options when compiling to the Pocket PC platform. I have recompiled and the DLLs were merged into the executable.
I will have to troubleshoot the CF3.5 - I didn't target that framework so it should not asking for that. It may be related to the missing DLLs issue, since both require the B4PPC compiler to use "optimized" options.
I have re-uploaded into post #1 - thanks for testing.

Thanks! I like "Pocket Forecast" and will use that (if it's not in use already). I wrote a wiki application called "Pocket Wiki" so I wanted to stick with the same naming convention.
I don't want to use any application names similar to the great programs A_C writes. I'm not worthy.

I uninstalled Microsoft CF3.5 on my PDA and ran the updated ppcWeather (11/14/08 v.18) - it works for me. That said, applications seem to always work on the developer's systems all the time so that isn't much of a test.
Could you please retest with the updated version?
Thanks to everyone for their help and feedback.

Thanks for catching that.
I just tested that and that seems to be a new bug after I recompiled with the "optimized settings" - I am not sure what is causing this because the desktop version doesn't do this. Same code, different target environments.
The weather.ini settings themeDir, httpTimeout, and refreshInterval are getting blanked, but the location ids are not. This is strange...
I am going to have to check with the Basic4ppc support team to see why this is doing this.
Now i got zip code working need some setting
need Theme [default]
but still no icon
LOL need move \theme\default\condition folder out to \theme\
should work like charm and also the theme.ini i dont is that cause
your new Version works now

The code is reading a form textbox variable for the settings that were getting blanked out - I'm not sure why some are ok and others are not. As a work-around, I added code to check to see that there is a value for the form textbox before saving it. Uploaded v.19 and am pursuing this on the B4PPC forums.
Thanks for the testing and feedback!

The first line in the "weather.ini" file should be "themeDir=default". If it says "themeDir=" then won't find the weather icons.
Thanks for the testing feedback.

This sound great unfortunate i dont have sensor device
but amazing idea !!!
Nice work!!!
but it would be better if there was a feature to send an SMS to a specified number if the device is moved
Thank you for this software tell us about the updates
This is really cool! I will have some fun with this....Thanks!
Great work... A visual flashing strobe light or a animated barking dog would be hillarious...
Just a thought.. Adding vibration to the alarm would be sweet..
I forgot to add the following..
Is there a way to set a disarm sound yet?
Is there a warning setting for just a nudge and not the full alarm?
Is there a rearm sound planned?
Thanks!
great apps
2 nice alarms in wav format :

Thanks for sharing it looks really nice
this has a lot of potential fun with it...nice work!
doesnt work on athena
I am on landscape view 640x480 and use realvga on highest dpi, and most of the texts on the forms arent showing up. I can cope up with that because there are screenshots on your site and I can guess what the checkboxes/textboxes are for.
But the real problem is, whenever I click "run", it automatically runs the alarm. After that, it doesnt detect movements. I am sure my athena's sensors are working though.
About the sending of sms, this app would very much be able to do it with the help of Vijay555 tools.
Ciao!
Hi
First, thanks for all feedbacks and suggestions. I think, all could be done (question of time ).
I think about skinning (for beginning only main/alarm screen) so "barking dogs" could be achieved.
keroin thanks for alarms, I make sound package on app web site.

Yes, every controls are DPI dependent so it;s not very strange behavior, i'll make some research and try to fix that.

So, I must wrote a test program to check values from your sensor. Please, give me some time.

Hi Robert,
Great work !!!, would you publish the sources for make some customization ?
Regards.
cant believe even the 2.03 ROM still doesnt come with Net CF 3.5!
Testing on Diamond now
Cheers!
-edit- all works fine!
Now I don't have a phone with a gyrator, and I havent tested this application. As much as I would love to do both. But every time I see this thread I think to myself.... should be named, cant touch this.... Every time I see the name I think about that and picture a phone that the alarm goes off and then it plays the song.... lmao
Im kidding of course though.
Another sweet feature would be the silent dialing of a user-defined telephone number and keeping the line open for x minutes, when an alarm was triggered.
-Valynor
Not working in an omnia...
This is great...my kids grab my phone all the time! This has the potential to scare the pants off them.
Works on Omnia!!!
Just tried on my Omnia and it works, used the submarine wav file provided (many thanks) on previous page.
This app definitely needs to be developed with the features requested on earlier posts and I feel it will become a must have application.

Must Have Apps

I think the the Vibrant forums needs this as a sticky so moderators do your thing and ev1 else do yours i was thinking something like this for posts
Rom Manager-Helps with the install of custom Roms
Tv Guide-For the people of the world that doesn't have a guide on there TV
and so far and so on and maby like = for a short review and short how it works or how to work it its just an idea so if you like it post
Im allways looking for different.
All posts will be checked for redundancy's

i getcha...but these threads are more of a vanity thing than a reference thing. You get so many posts listing the same apps, so it flattens the concept. If people for once would actually ONLY list apps that have not already been listed, then these types of threads would actually have value.
A lot of people come to these threads initially in hopes of finding out about some apps they do not yet know about...but what happens is they open up the thread and they end up seeing multiple posts that look something like this
-Launcherpro
-handcent
-root explorer
-fruitninja
-adw.ex
-sportstap
......major apps that everyone knows about, and they just keep getting listed reptitively, so people stop paying attention to it and it dies out.
not cutting short your efforts....i started a thread like this on games, and after like 6 or 7 posts you could see that everything was pretty much listed....top apps thread are all over XDA

yeah sometimes you'd like to reply to whatsapp and you dont feel like replying on your phone but on your watch and you just can't! as well as FB of course.

Yep, I forgot Appy geek xD
And again Yep, i use my gear fit with my note 3 and it would be great to have the possibility to write down something (msgs, whatsapp, other stuffs) without getting the note out from the backpack, especially while u are walking or moving in general.
Technically it would be feasible using the layout of the old physical keyboards of cell phones (3letters per key) to bypass the problem of the screen dimension.

if they would make games for this i would pay for one or two :good:
a more refined calculator would be good too
food/diet apps (that should be accurate with calories, etc.)
a spending tracker app

I will pay for a Keyboard for whatsapp and i will pay for a simply game for Gear fit Flappy Bird or another game .
There is AMAZING
^ Flappy bird or snake or puzzle games would be great like I mentioned in another thread. :good:
Or samsung can make avatars like they did where u can design your own avatar to look like you and be used for health apps
A good general exercise heart rate monitor app. The apps included don't work for me.
Clock with Weather and Step count
I'd be willing to pay $10 for a watch face that shows Time/Date, Weather (the same way it shows it on the pre-loaded wallpaper), and Steps (again, same way it shows it on default wallpaper).
I have my watch oriented vertically and I don't really care for the large amount of space that the time takes up on the watch face. I'd love to have the screen divided into thirds with each third containing some useful information.
A keyboard basic. Sometimes thé phone is in the table. I have à baby in my arms sleeping. I can Not take the phone. But i have à gear fit in my hand. But i can Not answer a Good Answer...
I wish to get Sleep as Android to work with gear fit, but the developer said the API does not allow access to the accelerometer.
Gear Fit Fake Call
I think Gear Fit Fake call it useful app you'll pay for it : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ehz.inc.gearfitfakecall
I would like to see an app, what give more time to notifications (SMS's, e-mails, FB etc.) or just lock it to screen like calendar alarms do. 1 - 2 sec. screen showing time is too short.

A good keyboard and a system for answering msgs (or, why not, other apps such as whatsapp) would be VERY appreciated too.
I would pay also for something like flipboard (of course with a different and smarter layout).

Two apps I'd like to see
There are two apps I'd pay for.
1) An alarm function. This could be set up from the phone or the Gear Fit,
It could be set from the phone or the device, but it would be really nice to
have it vibrate at a preset so I could wake up or remember an appointment.
2) I like the idea of including the weather and steps in a V-clock, but I
want those with both an analog and digital clock together than looks something
like the attached png.

i would pay for an app which will let me launch tasker shortcuts from my watch.

NOTE: This module does NOT unlock any paid features!! It does NOT allow you to view more guys than what your subscription allows. It merely fits more profiles on the display at once by increasing the number of columns
in the grid.
Works for both free Grindr and GrindrXtra.

Are you the same guy who made the old grindrmod?
How this work?
It's good like "old" version?
So far works great, thanks! Is there anything new we should be aware of coming from the other version?
A couple of things :
- I do notice that not all profiles with chats have the orange border.
- would it be possible to add swipe across screens (I think previous version of app or mod had this)?
Thanks and great job!
Everytime it's opened, it can't get a location as 'I have no Internet connection' apparently, when obviously I have.

There is a paid feature now which too closely matches the active chats border, so it has been removed.

The mod introduced that far before the app did. One might argue that they took it and monetized it from @GrindrGuy. Does this mean that if the app starts mimicking other features introduced by the mod to monetize from them that the mod will just start taking them away? Nah, I'm against this move... You and GrindrGuy ultimately decide, but I wanted to share my two cents.

If you want to get "super technical" about it, this feature was introduced years ago in the original app but taken away around v3.0.
EDIT: Since I do not have Grindr Xtra, if someone would like to actually send me screenshots of what this feature looks like, I may be able to re-work it so that the module provides a similar feature that is not a direct replica of the paid feature.
I found a bug.
If i see a fresh face and hi back, module ask ne to "undo last refresh"

Oh, wow - didn't know that! Here I thought @GrindrGuy was the genius behind it!
Don't have Xtra, but something to bring back that function making it different enough might be to have a little circle with counter in it: currently app gives you a yellow circle with the number of new messages. You could play with that idea: just a yellow dot if there are viewed messages, or include the number (?).
Along the same lines, I have a suggestion: In my area you often get a few users who don't upload a photo and you just see the generic black profile pic with no user name. Would there be any harm / Would it be possible to give those profiles a random name (user1123) so as to know which user is which?
I'm still used to swiping left/right to switch between profiles and inbox. It's annoying you actually have to tap on those now. Dunno if you can revert that behavior.
Say you're chatting with someone and you want to go back to "nearby" view. you have to go back and then tap on "nearby". It might be interesting to have that navigation bar with nearby/inbox/favs persistant throughout the app, with it autohiding and showing back up when you scroll down. This way there's an easy way to always go back to home, and we also always see if there's a new message notification.
Another suggestion I had way back when was to further customize this navbar: for example, I'd love to order it to have first favs, then nearby, then inbox, and being able to swipe between the views. At this point it might also be nice to have the option of having the navbar either on the (new) bottom or (old) top.
Sorry for the long post! Thanks for your efforts, and it's also fun to think about UI design like this!

That's actually how the GrindrMod feature used to work, by "hijacking" the unread messages count to always display the yellow border regardless of whether the messages were unread or not.

I'd rather not alter the UI to that extent since there may be some underlying reason for them changing it in the first place (one person suggested that the toolbar was moved to the bottom in order to encourage accidental clicks on the banner ads).

From today Grindr crash after some seconds, but no problem without the module.

Take my money!
Looks like the app attachment was removed from this thread? I'm running 3.24.x or something just so Grindrmod will work. I'm being told when I open Grindr that I can only use that version for two more days until it is mandatory that I update to the latest version. At which point grindrmod will not work.
So, I'm looking forward to an update =_=

Thanks! I didn't know it was a whole new app there. The links to it seem dead in the xda app with the xposed modules.
@GrindrGuyNYC, is it possible to amend the photo viewer activity (when tapping on a profile picture) to always show the Android soft-keys? Every time I tap on a profile photo to open it, I have to swipe up to show the soft-keys to go back. Starts getting annoying really fast. Thanks.
PS. GrindrMod isn't listed on Xposed module library when I check in Xposed Installer (I use the one by DVDAndroid). I had to go to the repo online to download and install manually.

I see it just fine in the official Xposed Installer.
@GrindrGuyNYC I'm on oreo 8.1 with systemless xposed.
The module won't show in notification bar even if I choose show always.
Another bug (on nougat too, with "standard" xposed) is if I swipe or open a new profile module ask me to undo last refresh.
