companion app problem - Ornate TrueSmart

Hi i installed the truesmart master on my phone and osmart companionon TS but when i pair my phone with TS it says that Network access point of my phone is unavailable...
What am i doing wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong. Omate errors in the TrueSmart firmware cause this. Known issue all this year, but Omate has never fixed it. Don't expect them ever to.

so now i cant use it like companion nor like a phone(my signal is so poor)
Really nice brand

Not a nice brand and not at all a nice company. Avoid Omate, their parent company Umeox, and MTK products in the future.
I did find that with a sim chip from T-Mobile in my TrueSmart I could share its internet data connection with other devices through tethering them to the TrueSmart. This worked well, except the TrueSmart battery did not last long. I don't think that will help you much.

I also live in greece so we don't have t mobile here
But at this time I only have a watch that only will help me pass my classes
Its sad that I paid so much money for nothing...

If you are up for the challenge, install [ROM] 07.06 EnSec STOCK Secure + Root. You should see better battery life. After that, install Cyril's SWApp Link for companion capability.

I want to install the rom for many reasons but im a little worried that I might brick the watch... (for me now TS is a brick)
But as I said I want to pass the semester at September so after that I ll do it :good:
I m also in a thinking to send it back to fix my 3g antenna (if there is a problem) but im worried that I ll have it back next December

Putting any information on an unpatched TS is not unlike leaving your door wide open when you leave and hoping nothing gets stolen.
If you have had it more than 5 days then good luck getting it fixed. See very bottom of page

SWApp Link with bluetooth
I have that delayed bluetooth notification issue with all roms/firmware tested(1900NA)...Is there anything I can do? is this an isolated issue with just my device? Do I have to wait for Kit Kat? LOL

If you want to solve this, you have to exercise. Or you can lie to your watch and check "sport mode" anyway. Since I have done it (the second one) this morning, I receive notifications immediately. Soon I will see the impact on battery.

Thanks MrTip. Unfortunately it dies in less than 7 hours in sport mode with minimal use. Errr.

sport mode is a joke

Also, sport mode is a joke ! When screen is off, you can still click on it. You can randomly launch apps and change settings without knowing what you are doing. Congrats, another feature made useless by poor judgment.

My bluetooth notification delay issue stopped when the SD card was removed. It returned when the SD was returned. WTF?

[Q] [Nook Tablet]: Can Registration Screen be Bypassed?

Hi all,
I was really curious about this tablet and since didn't want to spend EUR600 on an Ipad, I decided to give the NT a go.
However, after receiving my new NT, I am stuck in the registration screen, as the device seems to recognize my WiFi network settings, but then consistently fails to "Register" the device using the WiFi...
Since I am living in Germany, I don't have an easy way of "just getting" to the closest B&N shop...
I hope someone can help with these questions:
1) Is there a way of bypassing the Registration Screen on the NT?
2) Is it possible at this stage to re-install a generic Android version in the NT?
3) Would "Rooting" allow me to bypass the registration screen?
Many thanks to all!
Cheers,
Gizmo
I hope mine comes this week. After that i can say something about register in germany.

Hi,
Great...at least I'm not alone in this quest...
Basically, I bought mine from Ebay (was able to slip customs ) so it in the end it came quite cheap.
Anyway, yesterday I tried booting it up to see what could I do with it before attempting to root it....and got stuck in the Registration process....
I even changed my WiFi protection from WPA2 into WEP to see if that solved the problem, but I just keep getting a "Could not register, please retry..." or something similar...
Please do let me know how things go on your side...
Cheers,
Gizmo
Hi there, this is actually my first post, but I couldn't resist on replying this thread.
What do you mean, you're having difficulties? How come people from Europe have not had any trouble registering their devices and you have? It makes no sense... If a few can do it, everyone should be able to do it...
(sorry if I seem a little but outbursting, bu I have my nook on the way and these posts makes us feel worried...)

Hi,
First of all, I share your pain...
No idea about the others you're referring to (are there any Europeans which have successfully registered their Nook using WiFi?! - please show yourselvess... )
I am just stating a fact...
After buying it last week, to be honest, I am also feeling a little disappointed for not being able to do anything with it yet...
At least I got it to charge, as I had a US/EU power adapter plug.....but not much more than that...
Well, users from Hong Kong, Singapore, Costa Rica were able to register it. I can't see why we in Europe couldn't...
Got to give it a try using another WiFi access...
The registration screen can be bypassed. Google something along the lines of "Skip Oobe Nook Color". Oobe is short for Out of box experience. I know i found it on the NookDevs site.
I don't remember for sure but isn't there a "skip" button right there on the registration page?!
please use this method, this will work on NT also
http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Factory_Mode/Skip_Out_of_Box_Experience
What if you use a VPN to broadcast a WiFi signal to make the device think you are located in the U.S.?
Hey guys...after insisting a bit...I got passed the registration and login screens...!!!
Currently enabling debugging on the NT (and have already installed successfully the ADB driver)...
Keep you posted!!!
Cheers,
Gizmo
Does anyone know if we can reclaim the 11GB which are allocated to installing B&N stuff?

I would suggest browsing through the dev section as well as the general section and doing a few searches - I think you will find a lot of things will resolve themselves.
Be aware as well that skipping registration has supposedly caused many Nook tablets to have reduced lifetime on each single charge.

What he said.
I skipped registration and my battery life took a colossal hit. I have no idea why this is and frankly I'm not even sure how it's possible, but skipping registration really does affect battery life. For my money, having an unregistered nook isn't worth the cost of battery life.

Thank you both....I actually meant that was able to finalize the registration process as we're supposed to.....but I had to retry many times until being successful...
Also, the WiFi Connection seems to be intermitent...it's constantly connecting and disconnecting itself.....
...hum..could it perhaps be due to the dozen of WiFi networks being broadcasted by my neighbours in similar channels....

Very likely. Any free channels open or do you have some busy airspace where you are?
I do have a couple of WiFi Networks around....none of them are open actually...all with WPA...
My two laptops and Asus EEEbox don't seem to suffer any problem with that though....
I too had a problem getting the unit to register. My wife sitting next to me with her new NT went right through no problem at all. After about 10 minutes on the charger though, mine went through. I'm speculating the battery level was too low in mine to keep wifi reliable through the registration process.
At any rate, mine is working well at this point.

Got My RMA from Asus for the GPS issue, UPDATE 1/5!! they will take the gps out

Well I called Asus before their official statement and they gave me a RMA to send it in, they stated its a known issue with the Bluetooth, Wifi and gps and that sending it in will get it fixed. well later on that day Asus made their statement about the GPS. I just got off the phone wiht Asus support again to clarify that they can fix the issue. The tech stated that sending it in will fix the issue and he kept saying something about them replacing the Bezel? not sure what exactly that means. I also asked what happens if i get it back and is still isn't working since I bought a product advertised with working GPS, he said they will do everything to make me happy, I asked would they refund me my money and he said if they cant get the GPS to work yes, Asus will refund me my money. I also added in the RMA the blight Backlight bleed on the right hand side. he said that they will address that issue also.
I will keep you guys up to date on what happens.
Update 1/5- well just talked to aaron in the escalation dept and he actually talked to the repair center and apparently when i send it in they will be removing the GPS completely and i wont have it once its returned, i did bring up that i apid for something and now it wont have it when i get it back. He actually suggested that I return it to best buy for a full refund This is amazing im very disappointed i love this tablet other than this and the light bleed issue. looks like im going back to my Xoom

Thanks (given) for an excellent write-up.
I (and I'm sure others) will look forward to the results.
you should post a number...
Also, did they tell you how long it would take to return?
Please be sure to post up
1. how long the turn around time was
2. did they fix the GPS issue
3. can you notice anything physically that changed
4. did they wipe and factory reset your tablet or was it loaded with all your software and settings just as when you sent it in
BTW, the bezel is generally the rim around the top glass portion. Thats interesting news.
Please keep us posted on your situation. Also, is there any way you can run a few speed tests at a decent distance away from your router before you send your current unit back, and then compare it to results you get with your new unit? I'm very curious as to whether any fix they do may affect the wifi. Thank you!
Maybe they're replacing the bezel with something more RF-permeable?

Why? Don't, see if they wipe it. Unless your really worried about personal info? If so, and you do wipe, still make some changes and set some settings and load some apps after your wipe so we/others can see if part of their protocol is to wipe clean and reset the tablets they get back. I hope it is not as setting up ones environment and settings and apps and such is a real PITA.

Thanks for sharing. After contemplating just returning the tablet, I think I'm going to do the same and ship for repair. Here in Canada we ship to the RMA department in North Bay. I was told that the GPS would be "fixed" but they didn't guarantee it would meet my "standards". All I asked for was a consistent satellite lock - not too much I hope. They also will look into blacklight bleed near the top right corner; issue with hdmi audio output only being left channel; and the steep decline in wifi signal after about 30 feet. They said the turn around would be 7 business days.
Cheers.
Edit - This is the RMA location in Canada (or maybe just Ontario): http://www.nortek.on.ca/default.aspx. I don't know why they'd send to North Bay, would have though somewhere around Toronto.
I have a feeling all they are going to do is flash the new firmware and that is it...
ICS is coming soon so hopefully that fixes a good amount of issues.

Did you have poor/no lock GPS or NO GPS as in no satellites at all (like I have) even if they stop fixing them at some point this is promising. Mine is otherwise perfect, and I am not ready to let go of it yet (Just got it YESTERDAY, LOL!) and my dock comes tomorrow, but if this works out and they don't get backed up with these repairs, 7 days sounds quite reasonable. I HAVE heard tell of them not meeting their estimates, and that could mean 7 days in house, then ship back, but even 10 days would be tolerable I guess.
I plan to wait a few weeks and see how this develops, then go RMA like this, if it works out for you. Awesome post!

Flyer or view question

So I recently purchased the 16 gb htc flyer on buy.com for $200 refurbished, now I see I can get the 32 gb View for $250 new.
Ive searched and found they are basically the same thing with the exception of the view being a sprint 3g/4g contract deal.
Im thinking that Id rather get the view with more memory and in "new" condition for a bit more cash.
But I see various things about sprint logos always popping up and always searching for a signal etc.. One amazon review said that you get constant pop-ups asking to sign-up and its a major hassle.
Im not planning on rooting it, and the fix's I've seen require that it seems. Are there ways to remedy this without rooting?
My question is should I get the view and return the flyer? I really dont want to have to always have sprint stuff popping up and the related hassles of always searching for a signal draining the battery
My View is not rooted, and it's running the stock OTA Honeycomb software.
The only time anything from Sprint will pop up is when you boot up or restart the tablet. It gives you an activation prompt, which you can easily dismiss. Nothing from Sprint ever pops up at any other time. I use No Lock from the market (which does not require root), and somehow it not only serves it's major function (deactivating the lock screen), but it completely gets rid of the Sprint activation prompt when first booting up along with dramatically decreasing the boot time. My View will be completely up and ready to use within 10 seconds of turning it on from being shut down.
Searching for signal ("cell standby") is something that is easily taken care of as well. Simply turning off cellular data in the settings isn't enough since the View is also set up to receive text messages. The easiest, non-rooted way is to run it in airplane mode. That's what I do. You can still use WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS in airplane mode without any problems whatsoever (you'll just have to turn them on after you've activated airplane mode the first time). Once turned on, the tablet will remain in airplane mode, even after reboots (so there's no need to have to remember to turn it on all the time), making the option very easy. Other options are discussed in this thread.
So yes, there are easy ways to solve everything you've mentioned without rooting.

MAN thank you for the No Lock app idea...i don't want a lock screen on my tab, and didn't even think to look for an app that did it! haha
actually it kinda messed my stuff up..when i unlocked it, the signal bars were on the bottom, and it turned wifi off and i guess turned the radio on, then gave me a black screen and somewhat froze lol
Thanks for the info.
Im planning on installing the tablet in my cars dash. They make a dash bezel/trim thing that will hold a 7 inch tablet/gps and looks like a factory item.
I was worried of pop-ups etc... when I use the device as gps navigation but seems I can get around it.

That sounds awesome. Links to product?
I also would like that link. I've seen a few ways to do it, but this is one of my primary reasons for wanting a 7" tablet, to eventually disassemble it and make it into a head unit.
If you check ebay and search "your car here" navigation. See what pops up for dash kits for your car.
I have a soul so I cant say whats out there for other cars, but I bought one like this

That's a pretty interesting idea. The one for my car is a bit too pricey and doesn't integrate as well as for the soul. My idea was to get a car PC doubledin chassis and basically use the tablet as a front end and build a decent amp into the extra space. But their method is much easier. Although for the price and look in my car and the fact that you lose the ability to take the tablet with you I'd say I'll just get a dash mount. Have one for my epic and it works well enough.

I bought it from buy.com for 200.
Came pretty quick, they used fed-ex
Tablet came in a white box, marked as refurbished. In it was just the tablet wrapped in bubble wrap and the AC adapter.
Tablet looked like new, It didn't have any scratches or other marks anywhere. Wasn't even fingerprint marks all over it.
It worked fine as well, booted up quick. Just had to set the time and was good.

It's highly doubtful. The brand new ones don't even come with the Scribe. With the exception of some limited, retailer specific deals, the Scribe has always been a separate accessory.
I agree buy.com has done good by me. $200 for a flyer is a google. Check out eBay for a pen. 2$20 to $30.

Hello,
Just snatched up the Omate Truesmart Dev edition (1GB/8GB) on Ebay for a nice price. I got it more as a curiosity for now since i have a working Pebble Steel/Iphone 5s combo that fits well in my life.
But, the prospect of having a real Smartphone in a watch kind of design made me curious. The fact it's running Android got me in since i do like to tinker with ROMS and new i could do it with the Truesmart.
My planned use case for this watch is as follow:
1) Use the Omate as a always on communication tool for messaging, email and important infos notification and consultation tool. I need to be able to send small replies to messages using preferably, voice to text.
2) Use the Omate as a phone on my wrist using bluetooth or the speakerphone
3) Use the Omate as a network hub and tether a tablet to it
It should also be able to provide me with a decent battery life (a day at the minimum, i don,t mind charging every night).
That being said, am i overly optimistic or is this feasible ? Should i move to a different ROM ( i am running the original one, latest update appears to be 20140527-1733)
If i need to root and update the firmware... Can anyone guide me in which preferred rooting method and best battery friendly firmware available today ?
Thanks for your help,
Max
Nope, the hardware is pants... nothing works properly, if it did this would be an amazing watch....
You might get lucky and get something with working GPS and bluetooth but these watches have far too many problems to be anything more than a short curiosity, you certainly can't rely on them, saying that I do want to try out Viber on these things...

How much did they pay you to take the watch off their hands?
Mine seems to work good. I'd say if everything is working on the watch then yes you could do those things. In fact I've used it for most of the things you listed.
I'd recommend using the ensec rom by kuronosan.

Thanks, i will try that.
I've been running it on 3g and Wifi for a few days now. Battery life is awful, i can squeeze out 9-10 hours at best, so not enough to last my whole day. I would be ok with at least 16-18 hours (which is what i get from my Iphone 5s anyways..). Does the ensec ROM provide a bit more battery life than the original one ?
Yes, I usually charge it every 2-3 days using 3G, but could probably squeeze 4 days if I wanted. Even when I use it a little more heavily it still lasts me through the day.

Hey thanks Speedy. I think i don't have other choices then try the Ensec ROM. I have been trying the last 2 days to get those damn USB drivers working on my Windows 8.1 laptop (and on another desktop running Windows 7 64 bit) withouth success. I can't get both computers to recognize the $?%&? watch. I am thinking about installing Windows 7 32 bits in a VM and try it this way but geez.. Do you know of any way to get the Omate recognized under Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 64 bits ?
Thanks
Miroul
Weird, I used my windows 7 x64 computer to install all the stuff on my truesmart. I can't think of anything off the top of my head as to why it wouldn't work though..
You did turn on usb debugging, right?

General So.... about the Pixel 6

The Pixel, with its Tensor chip and machine learning, can somewhat adapt to the phone user's habits, right? That's why battery life improves, maybe the phone gets hot at first, then doesn't as I've seen people imply here (and was my experience), and so on.
Then you have all the complaints here. The phone sucks, it gets hot, the battery is terrible, etc. And when people do complain about bugs what is usually the first advice they get? Reset it. But in some cases isn't that exactly the wrong thing to do with this phone? With a device that adapts to your usage isn't a wipe the last thing you'd want to do? Or am I giving the whole "machine learning" thing too much credit? I ask because I visit a Telegram thread and a user there was complaining. Someone asked if he had reset the phone and he replied "yes, a few times".
I don't know about overheating and other problems, but w/r/t battery life? I agree. These phones absolutely get better battery life over time, and frequent resets are probably disruptive of that process.
In fact i am quite happy with this phone. If it was not the epic fail with the december update breaking phone connectivity and the way it was handled otherwise i don't have any problems. Camera is top notch especially when shooting in RAW and battery life for me is between 1 and 2 days (depends how much i use it). I think that with few more updates bugs will be fixed and we will have very good phone with regular updates just like the old pixels. The only thing i hope to change are these stupid 5G, volte and vowifi limitations imposed by google for most countries.
You will always get people complaining about any new phone/device.
Some people are more dramatic than others.
Any new device is not a 100% perfect. There will always be bugs on a new device.
Bottom line is if you hate it that much. Sent it back and get a refund.
Or buy a POS crapple and be a sheep.
Wait a second guys. Let's call a spade a spade. The device was not ready to be released until the December update was fixed. Past the 15 day period there is no returning the phone so put that aside, it's a non issue. You can't be saying that connectivity is fine, it's not. Don't even get me started on the FPR. Be real and acknowledge what is broken. Call screening is gone, on hold is gone, there is basically no transfer from wifi to network without a reboot. That is unacceptable and no amount of calling those complaining sheeple is going to change that. I've owned every Google device since they started coming out with hardware and this device is the worst they've ever released. Do I like the phone, yes I do. Would I trade it in, no. But there are serious problems and you must admit it without criticizing those that do. Calling Google out is not being unfaithful it's just being real.
edit: that being said I did bootloader unlock the device and I'm running ProtonAOSP non rooted. FPR is way better but connectivity is still the December radio which is awful. The rom is better that what Google has out now. Just sayin'.

It doesn't adapt to anything except to determine what kind of advertising you would be most susceptible to so that gooble can target you most profitably. All this "AI" and "machine learning" crap is just buzz words that really do NOT imply any of the amazing scifi ideas of machines actually thinking. Don't get overly carried away with marketing buzzwords.

Increased battery life is tied to calibrating the battery level gauge.

You mean aside from apple, which is actually a fashion accessory and nobody actually expects it to work well. I see lots of apple people with nothing that works, and they just shrug it off as "that's just what phones are".

Well said, and very true!
I am SO tired of users saying "well MY device works just fine, YOU must be doing something wrong!". That's exactly the response I see everywhere as soon as someone has any complaint about the P6. The "only" issue I had was the almost total loss of reception after the December update ... I'd like for those users to tell me how I did something wrong there? I wanted to root after the update anyway, so I unlocked, rooted and flashed the mid-November radio.img which brought my reception back up to the 3-4 bars I had before the botched Google update (which had taken it down to 0-1 bar).
Google just letting P6 users sit + wait now, those on locked bootloaders with crappy reception, is what pisses me off most of all. I am long past the 2-week return period so I'm stuck with the device. But I've been letting it sit, half the time on Airplane mode, on my desk for weeks now while my actual daily driver is the OP 5T.
I'm just waiting for "proper" custom roms now to finally get some options ... or until the eBay prices for the P6 go back up so I can sell it without losing too much. The next person that tells me that "Google are the best + fastest with updates for their devices!" will get tarred + feathered by me for sure

While you're waiting try ProtonAOSP rom then reflash the November radio. That's what I did and it's running rather swimmingly. Still some issues but definitely worth a shot especially if it's just sitting on the desk.

I disagree. I don't deny that some people may have connectivity issues, but I can say that I do not. I find connectivity to be excellent. However, my carrier has only up to LTE, no 5G as of yet. This could be why, either flaws in 5G connectivity, or new and patchy 5G networks. Maybe try limiting it to LTE and see how that works out?

Fingerprints are not good for security, especially when it comes to anti-self-incrimination laws, since it is not knowledge based. Consequently, I'd have to categorize finger print unlock to be more of a gimmick than a real feature.

You must be mistaken about that. I transfer from wifi to carrier all the time -- MANY times per day, never had to reboot.

I disabled 5G on day one since my carrier doesn't have 5G coverage in my area yet, and STILL the connectivity issues are there. Google stopped the OTA, admitted there are problems and then even deleted the files from their update server so YES, there is a huge connectivity problem on the P6(P). Just because YOU don't have those problems doesn't mean they don't exist

Nah, those "custom" roms that are out yet don't have any customization (yet?), so I'll pass. I am helping test the Renovate Ice module though, which is slowly adding tweaks/features again. RiCE was the reason I was able to stay stock on my OP7 for 2 years, so fingers crossed it will help with this P6 too.

I suspect that you see a low reading in the signal meter and THINK that it means you have connectivity problems. Yes, it reads really low, but holds signals and works well despite that.

The hold for me while I'm waiting to speak with a representative. It will then alert you when someone picked up. That stopped working for me.. But really small potatoes compared to the other issues.

No, I didn't "think" it was bad - if calls don't go through or disconnect mid-call then that's not an issue with the display of the signal strength, but one with the SIGNAL itself. None of that happened any more after flashing the mid-November radio.img.
Why do you think Google stopped pushing the OTA and removed the files from their servers? Certainly not because they were bored, but because they KNEW there were issues.
So please stop assuming that 1000s of users are simply too stupid to handle a phone or only think they have an issue. YOU got lucky, great - but please don't treat those of us that have reception or fp or whatever issues like we don't know what we're doing!

The only people that are having any issues are the people that keep their phone stock. And most of them do not even know that they have a bad device.
Most people that come to the XDA forums are modders of some sort.
I honestly do not have any issues after making changes to the P6 to suit me.
I understand some people are having issues and most are self inflected.
