Same here. When I first tried plugging it in I thought the plug didnt fit for some reason. You have to point it down just the slightest bit. Doesn't seem like it will be a problem, just some getting used to.

just making sure it wasn't just me.... everyphone i've own is jsut a straigh shot

Ran into the same problem.. Freaked me out at first, that's for sure.

Anyone else find the usb charger/connection cable plug annoying?

So, the cable that I have doesn't plug straight in to the phone it's angled to run up towards the top of the phone. Whenever I plug it in to charge it, it seems that I have to run the cable awkwardly towards the top of the screen and underneath it. Not a big deal I suppose, but was curious if anyone else noticed this and found it a bit annoying?

My goes straight out to the left. Someone at the factory must have screwed something up. Get you a new one from amazon. I got 2 six foot ones for about $3 a piece.
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely annoying, right?

Yeh, everytime i go to type with the charger plugged in, it annoys me. Wish they had put the USB port on the bottom of the phone or at the top on the sides. Very annoying.
The charging port annoys the crap out of me. When charging, I just put it down and leave it haha.
i use a right angle adapter so the cable runs down the side (not up or straight out). allows me to actually use the phone while charging. (still kinda gets in the way)

Won't charge... feels like charging outlet is loose

Today I woke up and found that my phone wasn't charging. When I plug in my charger it feels loose and moves around. Tried buying a new charger and same thing. Its like I have to hold the thing in a certain place for it to chaste and as soon add I let go it stops charging. I did just flash a new rom last night, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any suggestions? Phone is 2 yrs old and out of warrenty.

when you say that your charging outlet feels loose, do you mean the area that you plug your charging cord into on your phone?
You might need to replace the micro USB port on your phone. I sent my phone to MobileTechVideos and they replaced it for me. It'll cost about $35 for the service though.
Like when I plug my phone in to charge, it kinda wiggles around like it shouldn't. It should just plug in and be tight. Not sure how this happened. Is there anything else that can be done other than sending it in? I don't have another T-Mobile phone to use in the mean time

Could this be due to flashing a new rom? Didnt start until day I flashed D9. Im not sure what to use as a phone in the meantime.

No. I doubt that the installation of a virtual rom would cause the damage of a physical charger jack. However, that day, did you violently yank the charger cable out of the device? Or anything to that sort?

Nope, ive always been really careful with this phone. i think its been getting loose the past 6 months or so. I realllly dont want to get a new phone. I really like my Vibrant
I just want to know that if I send it somewhere that they can actually fix it. I can connect and mount if I need to, but its just odd that I have to hold it a certain way for it to start charging. When i put it down it stops. Tried 3 different chargers, all from tmobile store.
I actually just flashed ICS passion and had the same exact issue. I never thought it could be due to the flash and assumed it was just hardware.
For me, what fixed (or helps) this issue -
Plug the cord in so its sticking in the charging slot as best as possible, than flip the phone on its face while the cord dangles off of a table or whatever you charge it on. (this puts pressure against the cord/phone slot in the reverse direction, and at least for me, would charge the phone)
Hope that made sense and helped!

[Q] new xperia s - problems and issues

I got my new s and I am liking it somewhat so far. I have a few issues though. First off is Amazon dint give me a us adapter for my charger so I have had to use my pc or PS3 to charge it. Neither of my htc chargers works as I woke up this morning and the phone was almost dead when it should have been charging. The light comes on but nothing happens though I wasn't able to test it while it had booted. This means I was not able to charge the phone when I first received it. I was able to fully charge it today but only with it on. Will this hurt the battery?
The next problem I have is the phone won't start normally after being off and charging. I always have to hold the volume button and the power to get it to work.
Next is the phone seems to get rather hot when surfing the net and when playing a game it gets almost too hot to hold and the games crash.
My next issue is with the keyboard. Is there anyways to get the period on the letter screen. What moron came up with the idea to not have the period there should be fired. I like the default keyboard a lot besides that and would like to keep it.

Usually charging with the ports on your computer or PS3 is a lot slower than just using the wall charger. The only thing I can tell you is make sure that the cable is in all the way.
Also, as a side note, the included USB cable is the worst USB cable I've ever used. That thing fits into the XPERIA so tightly that I have to use a hell lot of force to pull it out.

That's way better then any USB cable on my OG Droid,it was so loose,it fell out of the port when you moved the phone.

The one I have fits perfectly, I'm glad it's not too loose.

usb port catching

Anyone else having their USB port catch when plugging it in to the base of the phone? If I plug it in at an angle it isn't a problem but if I go in straight it catch's almost every time. Makes me feel like it's going to be the first thing on the phone that breaks. When I look at the port it does seem to have a bit of a lip in there, it's what is causing the snag.
Any. tip on a quick fix that would make it slide more smooth?
Edit: Please refrain from any and all " that's what she said" posts. Giggity.
hah...yes, I have noticed this a couple of times..

Its either just the cable or a combination of the cable and the port on mine. Using a different usb cable basically got rid of the catch. I think the edge on the stock cable is to new.. hah.
Both the USB plug and the headphone port are extremely snug and tight.

Its better when its tight. If its loose now when it gets older it won't fit right
the best phone ever
I've noticed the same thing. I have a slew of cables around the house and at work and most of them seem to fit very tight. I find myself being extra careful with the OG than other devices.

[Q] Returning My X2 with Eclipse ROM

After a good long while my X2's microSD port stopped working. So now I can't charge it, or connect it to my computer. I took it to a Verizon Wireless store and they confirmed that the port looks fine, but doesn't work. They had me a replacement shipped. I have the one they just sent me working fine, but I have to return my old one. The old one with the messed up port has Eclipse v2.3 on it, and I don't know how to get it back to a stock ROM without being able to connect it to my computer. It says in the shipping paperwork that they can charge me the full retail price for several reasons, including "software alterations." I can get to the stock bootloader of course, but bootstrap requires me to be plugged in to the AC charger. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
When you say doesn't work... do you mean absolutely zilch or will it charge?
Nothing

Have you tried wiggling the USB plug on your cable when it's connected? Sometimes, it might be really loose. I'm assuming you and Verizon tried, especially if you took it to Verizon and they confirmed it wasn't working.
I'm also assuming you've tried different cables just in case? I do know that if you don't use a cable that was made specifically for the X2, it might not have enough power to charge. I have noticed that with my RAZR (and my X2 before that), using USB cables and chargers that were NOT specific to the RAZR/X2 worked fine for a while and then they wouldn't work or worked sporadically. I would have to wiggle the cable to make it "register" but one slight movement would then cause the phone to say it was disconnected from the charger.
But, if I used the car charger or charging cable that came with my RAZR/X2, it worked fine.
I know some people have also tried bending in the outside part of the USB port more towards the inside so that it results in a tighter fit for the USB connector on your cable and that has worked. But, you definitely want to be careful if you're returning it.
Otherwise, it's probably something on the actual circuit board inside where the port has broken away from the logic board and is no longer registering to the phone when something is connected. At that point, I think you're done.
Thanks for the Ideas

Thanks for the ideas, but I already tried all of those with no luck. There was about two days where I could still charge it with some manipulation of the connection, but no more.
What about a different battery, tried a ifferent one?? If the battery is shot, that can create a headache in its own world.
