I've had some issue when on speakerphone with voice going in and out, but not sure if that's the popping you are referring to. Maybe try enabling/disabling Voice enhancement in Call settings. That gave me some problems on previous devices...

I swapped devices to fix mine. It had the pop and the ir blaster didn't work. This second on doesn't have the pop

I think disabling voice enhancement did the trick for me. Seems that way so far. Thanks!

Problem answering incoming calls

I have noticed an issue with incoming calls. If the phone is locked (not password or pattern locked, mind you, just locked via the power button) I cannot answer incoming calls. It will allow me to slide the green phone icon as if I can answer, but then it immediately hands up and alerts me that I have a missed call. The problem does not seem to happen when the phone isn't locked, but how often does the phone ring when you have it out, looking at it?
FWIW, I am running SnowJBv1.1 no other tweaks have been done.
Any ideas?

Also on snowjb 1.1 with no additional tweaks... 8 incoming phone calls over the 3 days I've now been on this ROM, all came in with phone idle/locked, not using any security (pin/pattern/face) and all were answerable just fine...

This may be a crazy idea, but what lock screen effect are you using? I was using dew drop, and I may have isolated the problem to this effect. When I use "none" as the effect, the problem seems better...

well, after a few days of trouble shooting...i have no idea. i cannot answer the phone when an incoming call wakes it up from lock. if i happen to be using it and it is unlocked, then i can asnwer. this is regardless of what type of lockscreen i use. dewdrop, pattern, slide...
i even tried reflashing to see if that might be the culprit. no dice.
anyone see anything like this or have any other ideas?

Anybody? Lol
I even tried a different Rom, so now I'm thinking its my phone

I am having same problem answering phone. But I'm not a tech wizard, and don't even understand the full conversation thread. But yes, it is hard to answer an icoming call. And other forums seem to have identified same problem.

Crackling in the ear piece?

Anyone experiencing this during calls? On my 3rd note 3 and they all have this. Could it be sprint? I know they are upgrading all the towers here but they been doing it a couple months now.

No issues on my end. I have the black Note 3 if that helps.
I got the black one. It will be fine for a minute, then start making noises and crackling type sounds. But this is my 3rd note. So I was just curious if maybe it could be the network? I am gonna try a wifi Call and see if it's different

That's odd, Iv'e made several calls on mine since yesterday in different locations and have not had a problem. Have you rooted or tried any thing audio wise? Also is your volume at the max?

Doesn't do it when I listen to the pre recorded visual Voice mail messages. And it will be fine on a call for a minute and then start acting up. I notice on my wife's Galaxy S3 that when the signal is bad and stays to break up it kinda sounds similar to what I'm hearing, just not so noticeable. I'm wondering if it's these upgrades they are doing here. Funny how pre recorded messages don't have this issue but when I'm on a call it does
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app
Most likely a network issue. I know when they are working on towers they offload on to other towers and that causes all kind of problems. Id say give it sometime. If you have the TEP on the phone hardware issues are covered for free.

I'm gonna wait until the end of the week to see if it goes away. what's the chances of getting 3 defective notes all with the same issue? Like I said, listening to the pre recorded voice mails that came on the phone play just fine which leads me to believe that if it were a hardware issue, it would happen when I play those messages as well but it doesn't

I know it can't be hardware because phone calls make this sound whether it's through the headpiece or the speaker phone. But music and other apps that use the speaker don't have this noise.
I'm thinking it may have something to do with the radio. May need to be updated.
If I get a 4th note and it does it then I know it's something network related. My wife's Galaxy S3 isn't as pronounced but you can kinda hear it. The note 3 is just more noticeable

Just a heads up,
I was looking at a co-workers G2 on Verizon today and heard the same cracklin' when making a call, it wasn't that way on messages or audio.
But when making a call it had the same issue. I did not try making a wifi call.
She thought it was just her who heard the noise but is super irritated now. She is looking into the LG Optimus G Pro on AT&T.
I have the same crackling irritating popping noises while making and receiving phone calls. It happens if I am using the phone earpiece, speakerphone, earbuds, and also on Bluetooth. When playing music on ear buds I do not hear the crackling and popping irritating noise. That sucks because I really like the phone but I run a business and I really need to use the device as a phone. I will definitely be returning this phone in a couple days if the issue does not get any better which I'm 99 percent sure it won't on its own.

I am having the same problem. chirping, garbled sounds, buzz noises, etc. Hopefully this can be fixed with a software update.

I am in the situation as yourself. I also run a business and since I am on wifi 95% of the time. I already am using Line2 and for me and how I use my devices Line2 has been a life saver. Especially when I at a clients place up in the hills where there is no hope of a signal.
Hope it gets better for you and the rest of the folks out there.

Very low in call volume

I have horrid hearing, but I could hear perfectly fine on the Nokia lumia I had before this phone..
If I'm around any background noise I can't hear anything.. has anyone else had this issue?

Omg yes!! I've tried everything to fix this. I've even gone to AT&T to get a replacement, which temporarily resolved the issue. I'm about to make another trip back, who knows might even get a free upgrade Depends on how lucky I am lol

Sadly I experience the same thing, I could've sworn I saw a tip from HTC talking about noise cancellation somewhere in the accessibility menu. Darn I can't find it at the moment.
Anyway what Solves the issue for me is using headphones/earphones, Since most of the time when I am somewhere noisy( busy street or so) I am listening to music so when a phone comes in i just continue using my earphones or it which is quite good.

Microphone issues?

I have consistent problems on speakerphone with people saying they can't hear me. I had a bear motion slim case on it but I'm not clear if that is creating any issues. Is there a hidden microphone anywhere that the case may be covering? Or do I need a warranty replacement?
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
It's weird, I've had certain people tell me this as well but others can hear me fine. Not sure what's going on, but I know that when I'm talking with someone who has trouble hearing me, if I put in my headphones it solves the problem. Maybe something to do with noise cancellation/echo reduction?
Do you have a case on or anything? I only have the issue on speakerphone.

Stop trying to find issues where there isn't. The speaker on this device is horrible, so who would actually persistently talk using it

I get the same complaint. Not sure why. My case doesn't cover the microphone from what I can tell

I've been messing around with this more and it seems like the bottom mic on my device is really directional in the sense that it only seems to pick up audible sound when you talk right into it. It's definitely barely picking up anything when the phone is held normally as if for a call. The speakerphone mic seems to work fine.
EDIT: I finally took it back to the store and swapped it out for a new one. It was definitely a hardware issue as my new one sounds much better.
Same issue here and I'm not using a case.
On speakerphone only, I get complaints every single time that people can't hear me to the point where I have to switch back to handheld.
Noise reduction currently off but it's the same either way. Gonna pop into Tmobile on the way home and see what they say.

For those who have a problem with this, I've been dealing with this issue since day 1. It seems to be a T-mobile problem and NOT a problem with the phone itself.
The software is set up as half-duplex and not full-duplex as it should.
That means that if the person on the other end of the line is talking or making noise and you start talking, they're not going to be able to hear you. I've tried this with my phone and a replacement phone. Same thing happened. That means that you will continuously cut in and out.
I'm currently talking to T-mobile and they have a ticket open with me to work with developers on the issue. I have no idea what happened but, as someone who uses speakerphone all the time, it's a MAJOR pain.
If anyone has more experience with this sort of issue, I'd love to hear it.
Hi Guys,
I'm having a problem along the same lines. I moved to Tmo a month or so ago when the S5 came out (ported from Sprint). The first couple of days I had great coverage but intermittently when I talked to someone, they'd tell me it sounded like I was in a tin can. At times it was hollow or echo-y. It kind of stopped, but then started up again. To me, everything sounds perfect. Now, randomly when I talk to someone, sometimes they can hear me without any problem, and sometimes they can barely understand me because of so much feedback coming through (even though I can hear them perfectly).
Tmo gave me a new sim card to use and said to wipe my cache to make sure everything was good. I did that and it worked great for about a day. Now, it's random again. I call land line and it sounds like I'm in a tin can and when they talk it's lots of feedback. I call friend on att and they have loads of feedback when they talk but perfectly fine on my end. I called someone on Tmo and had the HD appear on the call and it sounded like he was talking through a pillow.
It's so weird I can't figure out what's going on, but it's getting really annoying trying to talk to someone and end up calling them multiple times just to see if I can get a clear connection.
Bluetooth in my car seems to work perfectly for each end, though.
I'm on stock rom, rooted w/ philz recovery, and have not updated to the new ANES.
I don't use a case.
Wondering if that would help out.
Check this out might explain the mic issue

This is normal. It's part of the FCC's program. It'll send that to all phones on any carrier.

You can turn it off if you want. It's under the messaging settings.
