International or Unlocked G3 on Verizon - Verizon LG G3

I know how Verizon is with crippling their phones so even if you unlock it or purchase a phone with another carrier you can't change networks.
Any chance the international or Unlocked LG G3 will work on Verizon? hacks or mods to get it to work?

It might work on LTE but I don't think the international models have CDMA radios... I could be wrong but if that's the case, you wouldn't be able to make voice calls until VoLTE rolls out.

Sim card locked?

I've been trying to find the answer but haven't had any luck.
Simple question- is the Verizon G3 sim card locked? If so, is it just to US carriers or everyone?
I know the G2 was unlocked for international and US carriers. I'm trying to find out if the G3 is also just as open.
Thanks.

A quick search would show that all newer verizon phones are sim unlocked. Just only at 3g speeds. 4G will not work on other carriers. :good:
Thanks.
I was just hoping to get confirmation from someone who owned it already.
Thanks again.
Locked in the US. If you are traveling international then no problem.

That is not correct. I just put my T-Mobile SIM into my Verizon LG G3.
All I had to do to get it to work was manually input T-Mobile's APN, then search operators and select T-Mobile.
Got four times the download speed on TMo than I'm getting on VZW...unfortunately TMo can't penetrate my office building, so my G3 is sticking with Verizon.

Verizon LG v10 on AT&T?

I have a Verizon LG v10 that I want to use on AT&T. Per Verizon the phone is unlocked, but I'm wondering will it be compatible? Will I still receive 4g LTE? I know someone who has Cricket. If I pop their sim into my phone, since it's supposedly AT&T, would that tell me how it will work?

Well I think I figured it out. Put in the Cricket card and all I get is H and no LTE. This Cricket card came out of a Verizon branded Nexus 6 and that got LTE fine. I think I'll just sell my Verizon v10 and pick up an AT&T v10.

will an unlocked tmobile v30 wotk on verizon

Asking cause a few months back I tried a T-Mobile LG G6 on Verizon and it wouldn't work. Called Verizon and they said it needs to be a Verizon phone in order for it too work.
Wanted to get opinions cause I have a line on a good deal but don't wanna buy a brick.
It won't have CDMA, and for LTE you'll probably have to put in an already activated Verizon SIM card.

The problem is, as above, it doesn't have CDMA. So you would be relying on VoLTE.
Further, the T-Mobile variant doesn't (officially) support band 13; if you ever stray too far from cities, you're pretty much screwed as that's their extended-range band.
If you could get VoLTE working and if it doesn't refuse to work due to the phone IMEI not being recognized/supported (probably checked, because older devices don't support VoLTE), and if you stay urban...yes, it might work. But it'd be far from ideal.
You really need either the Verizon variant, US Cellular's variant or the carrier-less/open market variant. The latter two will technically work with whatever carrier you want, the first and last ones will be whitelisted in Verizon's system unless they decide to be douchebags about it, which would be very un-Verizon. /sarcasm
I'm not sure about the US Cellular one being whitelisted on Verizon. I'm pretty sure USC roams onto other networks, but actually activating it might prove to be a chore. At worst, you could swap a pre-activated SIM into it and be good to go.

No ATT HD Voice on unlocked S9+

Hello,
I just bought the S9+ unlocked today at best buy. I love the phone and I opted in for unlocked version so that I can root the thing later if I wish.
So, I would really like to have the HD voice option, but I found out that you need a carrier phone to be able to have wifi-calling and hd voice. My parent can hear me great on their end (they have iphones) but on my end I have the same old ****ty voice quality.
Is flashing ATT firmware (and getting their bloatware) the only way to get the option? Right now, when I go into settings-> connections-> mobile networks, the option isnt even there.
Reason is the same as I posted on a different thread. Flashing at&t firmware will not fix the problem. Subsequent comments in the thread may be of interest.

Ouch. That sucks. I read somewhere that tmobile and sprint don't lock unlocked phones out of their volte and wifi calling. Does Verizon use same tactics as att or will they make it available to me as well?

Yeah att doesn't have volte on any unlocked Phones. I put a sim in my Sprint S8 and it dropped to H+ during the call where TMO and vzw stay on VOLTE on my phone.

Same issue in Canada - Carrier Unlocked device purchased do from Samsung & none of the Canadian Carriers support VoLTE or WiFi Calling - This is extremely unethical on the part of the partnership between Samsung & the Carriers! We all know that the Carriers are Samsung's biggest customers - But to make key features unavailable is unconscionable! ?

T-Mobile and Verizon customers both get VoLTE on Samsung factory unlocked phones. AT&T restricts by IMEI (as well as requiring their firmware). Sprint does not yet offer the feature at all on their network. It is unclear whether unlocked devices will get it once they do deploy it. Time will tell.

Unlocked AT&T LG V30 on T-Mobile

Hello all. I have an LG V30 unlocked from AT&T. I am currently in the market for some different phone service. I was looking to switch to T-Mobile. However, when I went to their BYOD Check Compatibility page and typed in my IMEI, it said my device was not compatible. Will I still be able to use T-Mobile, just miss out on a few features, or is it no use to try and get T-Mobile service? I have checked that my phone supports all of T-Mobile's bands save for band 71. I figured all I needed was a GSM device and a new SIM card. Am I unable to switch to T-Mobile, can I switch with limited features, or does it operate at full support on T-Mobile, just an error with the website? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your AT&T H931 phone is actually carrier unlocked, it will work with U.S. T-Mobile.

Thank you for your quick response. I will probably see if I can switch to T-Mobile now. I am still curious though. Why would T-mobile still register my device incompatible? Is it an error with my IMEI or the unlock? Is it something on T-Mobile's end?

AT&T H931 is normally carrier locked to AT&T. So, normally it won't work on any SIM card not affiliated with AT&T. T-Mobile knows that. However, you say it's now carrier unlocked. But there's no way for them to know that, just by the IMEI.

That makes more sense now. I can confirm that my phone is unlocked because I have actually used it with T-Mobile MVNOs in the past. I just didn't know if a full blown T-Mobile card would work in it, being scared of the website check and all. You've helped me to clear all this up and I can't thank you enough.
