[Q] question about XDA posting again if it is okay - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi there! I have questions:
1. Does XDA have permission from Google to provide roms for people to legally download and do I need to ask Google permission myself to legally download their custom roms or original stock rom?
2. Do I have to be a developer to legally flash a rom(stock or custom) from XDA and/or Google?
3. Does XDA have legal permission from Google to distribute a custom rom with the Google keyboard provided? or is it like Google Play that needs to be separately installed?
4. is it legal to have a copy of the original stock rom from someone else if it was provided on the web by a third party without permission or do they legally need permission to provide?
5. is it true 1 licensed software for that particular smartphone with Android OS and apps provided when you purchase a phone and no more than that(flashing another copy over that) or is it okay to legally flash/root over that if it is true(like in the case of Microsoft software where you have to pay for a full copy of Windows and reactivate the Operating System w/ EULA)? I read a website that says some of the Android OS inside isn't fully open source and if that is true, that makes the Android OS not fully open source and not fully free if this is true, correct?
6. if this makes sense: is it morally wrong to flash and/or root over a phone that hasn't been flashed or rooted if the companies don't want this? and do you know why a company would not want this done besides warranty?
if i have more questions, if it is okay I'll ask more. Thank you in advanced!

[Q] Android Prison

Hello!
I have Acer A3-A10 device and I deleted some system app because I think Google is prison. Now I clearly see this is true. Without any Google app in the system folder Android is just trash. So why anybody is talking about Open Source if the system really depend on Google. Now my device totally crashed I mean many applications force close when I open. I have no right to clean my tablet from Google? I feel I am in prison. Somebody please tell me what is the minimum system application list on Android 4.2.2.
Thanks!

First of all, Android is open source because its source code literally is open to everybody - anyone can download it, modify it, and even create a device that runs it.
There's a saying: "Android's source code is nicer than most liquor stores; it is open 24 hours a day."
The vanilla Android code is at Google's Git, while CyanogenMod and other Android custom ROMs have their source code at GitHub.
Okay, what apps have you deleted?
The list of important apps depends on the software, but generally anything that starts with "com." isn't safe to delete.
If you're on stock Acer software, it's also unsafe to delete anything Acer, Google Play, and Google Services.
I also wish to tell you that if you wish to remove traces of Google from your OS, I'd recommend just flashing a custom ROM and opting to not install the GApps package.

anyhow.. hopefully some devs with figure out how to unlock it and start doing customs roms and a recovery for it... thatd be way awesome!:good:

A very special custom ROM

Hi.
I'm not a programer or developer, but an Android enthusiast. I am looking for someone to help me (even payed help) to mode a stock firmware (Orange Hiro - Alcatel One Touch 6012 that run Android 4.2.2 ) in a very special and unusual way.
All I want is to block installing any other apk file on the phone, other than the app I will already install as system app into the modded firmware. I know that is possible since some carriers are already doing this (some US based carriers). There are a few ways you can do this, but I think that simply removing "Applications" part from firmware (or making it invisible or unresponsive) will be the easiest way. Sure, ROM stability is a must.
I hope that I have posted this thread on the right section.
Thank you.

Help on a step-by-step downgrade+root

I recently got a Kindle HDX and I despise the way the store is laid out.
I want to install Google play but of course amazon took away that freedom so everything is purchased through their market... I've never owned an android before and don't know any technical guides, but all the easier ways/ways I understand are for earlier versions, and with forced updates Im at the newest version which apparently cant be rooted. If someone could explain how to:
1) Downgrade / regrade my kindle
2) Root the kindle
&
3) Get the google play store in terms I could understand, it would help alot.

You really need some Android experience to pull off the required steps without bricking your device. My recommendation to wait for a solution to come to the level of firmware your device is running. If FireOS (Amazon Store) is too unpalatable suggest returning your device and pick-up a Nexus 7 instead.
I also recommend avoiding 'hacks' that allow installing Google Play/Services on FireOS. Problems abound. You can obtain the current version of many free android applications from other marketplaces such as 1Mobile. It is an imperfect solution but better than the alternatives IMO - especially for inexperienced users.
I'm thinking about getting a HDX 7 with the current firmware. Just wanted to ask whether or not it is currently possibly (or work in progress) to install a custom ROM ? If not, I won't buy it.

Yes, but the process is tedious and carries some risk. If successful you have the option of Nexus v4 or cm11. In your shoes I would look at something else.

Custom Android 6.* ROM for Asus Pegasus 2 Plus

Hello, I have a new Asus_X550 (the Pegasus 2 Plus), running Android 5.1.1.
Since I bought it in China, there are pieces of it in Chinese, which I don't want. Therefore, I'd like help with *one* of the following, in order of preference (the best being #1)
Can I flash Android 6.* onto it? How? Where can I get a compatible ROM?
Can I flash some other custom ROM? How? I checked, and it doesn't seem to be supported, at least not by CM. I've seen the one article all over the place claiming to do it, but I'm unsure of the legitimacy of the ROM given, esp since the download requires surveys and such.
How can I replace the Chinese app drawer and UI?
Thanks in advance for your help.
1. The are no ROMs with Android 6
2. The are no custom ROMS
3. Obtain a ROOT and you can do this
