Replacement flaps - Xperia Z2 Accessories

My left flap has become loose to the point of not staying in for more than 5 minutes. Is there anyway I can replace this?

When mine does this I tend to find there's gunk/dust in the little groove in the rubber seal or inside the phone cavity underneath where the flap seal will sit, I just run my nail along it to dig all the crap out and it's fine again.

Same thing happened to me. I've ordered a new one for 10€ and changed it myself (see some videos on youtube explaining how to remove it properly).
The new one is ok. However, I don't recommend to open the flap too often, prefer wireless file transfer and charging from magnetic port.

Link? From where did you get it? I'd rather not send it in for warranty repair and potentially lose it for a few weeks.

Replacement USB Flap??

Has anyone replaced the little plastic flap that covers the USB port? Mine has finally broken off.
Is there anywhere to get a replacement online, and is there a resource for disassembly for the g1?
TIA
My device (Touch PRO) doesn't have it at all. I've seen that some devices have it and some don't. I think you can compare it to suspension housing of mountain bikes - some have some don't. It is just a question of dirt management style. While covers avoid the dirt getting in they also keep the trespassed dirt in there which also is not good. I don't think there is a good answer
I dont think he is looking for an opinion, I think he just flat out wants one. I could use one too, mine is broken as well.
As far as replacing, you can carefully insert it using a blunt pointed pin, I used some piano wire that was lying around when I did this to my last G1. Just "push" the ball into the housing. Alternately, you can use the plastic pry tools to lift that area, but it is a lot more work.

I'm not super concerned about dirt, and actually prefer not having it, but if i ever want to sell the device it would be nice to have it intact.

Exactly what I'm thinking! Mine broke recently and I actually like my phone without it better. However, as soon as my contract expires, I will want to sell my phone and get N1, so I think having all parts in place would be helpful, but I can't find it anywhere

Looking forward to it.
I'm in the UK and they ship from the US, so it might take a while. I've ordered it on 15th and got a shipping confirmation the next day, so hopefully some time next week I'll have them.
OK, got them... and I think it's a bit of a waste of money. They're too small and also when you need to for example plug-in the headphones, you have to figure out where to put those flaps not to loose them.
Anyway, you decide:

HTC Jetstream Service Manual ???

Does anyone have a service manual for the Jetstream ?
I wanted to take off the back cover and fix a large dent I got on it. I bought the 249.00 special on eBay. Other than that, the screen is perfect and the device works fine.
Now for some rooting and hacking !
I got two of those.lol.
There is a service manual on the internet but it doesn't tell you how to disassemble the JetStream; you won't find a guide like that anywhere.
I managed to open it but the battery is superglued to the back door aluminum plate and there are two rather frail cables that attach the battery to the motherboard and it uses a weird type of clip on connector that I haven't seen before; I didn't want to rip off that connector so I just put it back together and decided to live with the small dent in the back door. Get a nice cover and you won't even see it.
Moral of the story is....if it ain't broken don't try to fix it.

I accidentally stuff a microSD card into the SIM card slot. Would appreciate very much if you could describe what tools (e.g.,TORX #'s) and a brief instruction how to open up a Jetstream. Thanks very much in advance.
Are there any microphone controls in this piece? It seems that the when we do a voice chat the voice is not picked up. Any help is appreciated

Sorry for the late reply, haven't checked this site in a while. Honestly I opened mine up so long ago that I barely remember the location of the screws, but you should be able to take them off with a T-6. Once you remove them, use a thin, plastic, prying tool to separate the back plate from the front piece - triple check to make sure you got all the screws out. It takes some effort to do it but be very patient and gentle with it; don't forget the wire that runs from the battery to the metal rear piece once you open it.
If I still had my jetstream I'd make a video or a disassemble guide with pics but I sold mine a while ago; got tired of waiting around for an updated android ROM. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply

Rubber seal came off charging port flap. Won't close now.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Buy from somewhere else and replace by yourself or take to sony but this will charge you because not cover by warranty.
Only place is Ebay. Takes 21/2 weeks to get.

Weird though, I just called Sony in Canada and they are willing to fix/replace my phone that has screen problems, usb port flap came off and speaker problems.
Why can't you just buy the part and they send it? (U have to send the device for that silly little piece right?)
I'm also interested cos I have the same problem

Buy a magnetic charging cable! Saves the port! Yes you'll still need to open the port for communication of copying files from PC but it would be substantially less compared to opening the port to charge everyday.

If you don't wonna buy new cup, you can buy cheap glue gun,
then you put some glue on your cup, make the hole a little wet, so your glue want stick.
then wait few secs until glue will become a bit harder and close the cup.
Finally, after it will be hard enough, you can cut with razor glue you don't need.
And yeah, you can always warm up that glue with lighter, if you need to do step 2 again.
Works for me, even tested under water, but not for a long time though :good:

From the link it shows the whole flap (w/ rubber gasket). When you said that it works great, did you replace the entire flap or pull the rubber gasket off of the new one and put it onto your current one?
Thanks,

you cant replace the rubber gasket....it wont stick. And I tried locktite 401, and it ruined the whole gasket instead of setting it in the right position....perhaps you can do it. But you need a microscope

[Q] SD card/micro usb Flap keeps coming loose

Hi guys,
I have been facing a problem with the falp on the left side of my xperia z2 (white, but has no gaps nor missaligns), which is that it keeps coming off. First it was ok, nothing moved, then, after opening and closing 4 times to connect to the PC it started coming off.
Now i only take it off to plug it tot he charger. infact, i bought and adapter so that i can use the wireless charging already.
The only solution I found was on a thread where someone said to put sillicone lube on it. This worries me, since i've put some (not to gross out people) "mouth moisture", AKA spit, on the rubber and it instantly makes the flap jump out of position, so i assume a lube will only make it worse.
I have contacted sony but if i send it to repais i will be without a phone for atleast 10 working days, and that is if i'm lucky....
This is a problem, since the phone is waterproof, or i would just cut off the damn thing
Does anyone have a solution for this?
thank you very much
Ive found that the flap its self losens after time but it being closed is only problematic when there is dust in the port, cleaning it out solves my problem

Well, unfortunatly not mine... that was the forst thing I did when it stopped closing.
Amazingly now it is staying closed, has not self-opened for about 8 hours.
I guess it just gets posessed now and then...
I'd get that checked out, been using mine a lot since I got it a month ago and this has never happened, surely this will affect the water resistance.
Posted a thread about this previously - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787102
Same with what Envious_Data said, cleaning out the dust from the flap and the "socket" where the silicone seal seats solved the problem for me.

"I kinda semi-fixed the loose flaps by cleaning off the accumulated dust around the edges of the seal and the covered area...doesn't seem to fall out as often now."
This is what you answered on your post and i have seen the answer, but " doesnt seem to fall as often now" is not, imho, the ideal scenario for a 700 euro phone, now is it?
Mine has not fallen today, which is a freaking miracle. Did not do a thing to it, it just... fixed itself i hope. Not gonna put it under water though

Haven't have it pop open on me since then actually. However I do fully agree with you that it's totally unacceptable for a shiny new flagship device to have such flaws.
I got the damn same problem! It looks like is the dirt but it might be something else. I cleaned the flap pretty (really) well. I did it with a slightly weet (with alchol, be carefull)cotton swap. I had to do this two times to be sure its really clean. Its holding more time in its place now. I'll post if the flap pop out again by itself.

Bear in mind if any home made repairs ie silicone gel worsen matters you may find Sony refuse to fix ot

Thanks, must be the flaps have been twisting too much and it was trying to twist back or something which made it push off.
Taking it off and putting back in fixed it 100% for me, just ordered a magnetic charger though. Dont wanna remove and put it back in every month.
Thanks so much for your post, I used a wall pin and de-dusted my flap and it no longer wants to keep opening.. It was quite surprising how much was actually there
Thanks again!

Buying a replacement isn't so easy, well it is, but 99% are copies unless they have been pulled from old phones now. Most if not all the reviews condemn these replacements as poor quality and unfit for purpose. I have recently lost my micro USB cover and am waiting on delivery of a "copy" port replacement. Cost just under £5 for a pair of covers. Could of got some second user official ones for £7 but I thought I'd take the risk with the copies.
As for cleaning I just use ear buds/Q tips to collect the lint/dust.. anything sharp will only compromise the water proof nature of the seal.

USB port went inside?

I want to ask if anyone's USB port is the same as these picture. I can see the green part and looked like it went it. Or this the default design?
That is a defect buddy. Mine has the metal inset part flush with the plastic surround. I would either get it fixed or replaced as it could cause charging and/or data transfer issues.

Mine is the same as OP's. It looks like yours is a little further in than mine, but it could just be the picture. I cant see any of the green board in there. My metal USB port end lines up with the INSIDE of the case edge. So it is recessed, just like ~1mm less than yours..

Can yours see the green part as shown in the OP? If yours can then maybe is default stuff. Curious since I see one comment saying no green stuff but inside and one said covered
Now I'm even more curious. I sent a mail with the pictures in the op to Samsung and after a day they replied. They recommend me to bring to nearest Samsung center to service.
I feel like that's just the way it is, mine looks the same as yours
Mines slightly recessed but def cannot see the green board
Having said that, I've not plugged anything into the port as of yet in the 3 weeks I've had it - always used wireless charging

Not that port broken. The problem occur is if I put a case on, the usb can't plug in tightly. Slight movement will disconnect. So have to remove cover to charge. If it was outward a bit, maybe it will fix this problem.
