[Q] how to fearure request for LG devs ?? - Sprint LG G3

I don't think this is possible, but if it is, please tell me how to do it.
I love my knock code from screen off, i like how it bypasses the lock screen and goes right where i left off at. The problem is.. I don't have shortcuts that way. Id like to make more knock codes. As an example, id like a separate knock code too open my messaging app, or a certain game, or music, etc.
Am i missing something? Can this be done through unrooted stock? If not, how could i get this request to someone at LG that could potentially make it happen?
I know i can long press volume buttons from screen off to get a couple of shortcuts, but i can't program it for apps that i choose. Im site that can be done after root tho.

Im sure that once we get root on our variant, that someone will come up with a way to do this, as it isn't an impossible feature to think about developing. It would have to be baked into a custom rom, or submitted to the Xposed framework or a developed app.

a request for a custom lock screen?

i don't care much about which base theme ( puzzle or rotary or whichever), so take your pick.
basically what i want is to have more features in this main lock screen. one, mainly, being the data network mode as holding down the button to do it is irritating (i do it several times a day). plus the button might get spoilt or something :/
now how i picture this to work can be something like this:
in the rotary unlock screen, there can be another rotor (a bit above the original one) with another two features. data network mode (assume it to be on the left side of the new rotor), and another one (assume this to be on the right side of the rotor) whichever you prefer. music player, a shortcut to a particular app (like whatsapp, or a game or whatever). so if i rotate the data network mode icon on the new rotor (since this is on the left, to activate / deactivate it i rotate it to the right) it's status will change. i.e, activate or deactivate.
in the puzzle unlock there can be more than one missing pieces of the puzzle.
one being the standard one to unlock, one being the data network mode, one with silent, and others if you prefer.
so if i pick up the jigsaw and place it into one of the empty slots, it will activate / deactivate that option.
i'm basically asking for this because i'm (along with a few other people here) facing a serious network issue. read the other thread that i started about network issues and it's solutions and if you know what's causing this, please answer there.
also, i don't know anything about coding so i don't even know if the above idea is possible. so pardon my ignorance. also, for screenshots of the unlock screens, here's the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957123
(it's your page, Kyrillos. If you don't like me using it please let me know and i'll remove the link to it)
thank you. please let me know of what you think about my idea.
okay can someone at least reply telling me whether :
a) this is possible to do.
b) this is easy to make.
c) if it's easy to port into a rom, say, kyrillos' ROM
d) if you like the idea.
You can use the app widgetlocket. You will be able to costumize everything on you lockscreen.

[Q] Is it possible to change PIN lock screen appearance?

hello
i checked out widgetlocker and other lockscreen apps.
but the always juwt add another layer rather than modify the actual security screens.
i use the pin method to protect my phone.
and i do not want to first have to swipe away a screen to get to it.
but i would like to place a thing or two on the pin lock screen.
e.g. contact information in case the phone is lost or the ability to directly call someone without unlocking the phone.
(e.g. rather than just being able to call emergency numbers i would add a "call emergency contact" feature)
i was wondering if anybody could tell me which file contains the necessary pin screen layout information, i.e. which file would need to be modified to achieve this?
hope someone can help me out
or does someone know how to activate emergency contacts on the lock screen?

Well, you can put your contact under the "Owner Info", and it will show up on the PIN unlock screen (I use PIN lock myself). But as for having an actual shortcut/button to call a number, I have no idea...
already set the owner info, but that's not quite the same.
especially as it does not appear when you are charging or when the sim lock is shown.
i know that "ice_isenabled" should show the extra "group" and then show an additional button on the homescreen.
but it doesn't seem to work on my samsung.
motorola owners seem to be able to activate it...

Hmm... I do have the "ICE - Emergency Contacts" group, and I have some people in that group, but I didn't know it's supposed to enable an extra button/shortcut. I just checked, and it doesn't seem to work for me either...

Could it be something specific to a Moto custom UI (MotoBlur, or whatever it's called)?
which firmware are you using?
maybe you can see the group and add members but "ice_isenabled" isn't set yet?

Custom rom for father with Alzheimers, where to begin?

My father has early onset Alzheimers and I need to create a rom that when the device is powered on all he sees is 3 buttons call, end call, and text which brings up the plain texting option. Call shows square photos of people and services..etc.. tap on one it calls that person. I Would also like to do things like change the power button so it cant fully shut down the phone with out a specific combination of buttons or a pattern. Where do I begin to learn how to do this? I would really like to learn to do this on my own.
Hi there. Sorry to hear about your father. I've had a couple members of my family suffer from this and it's difficult, to say the least. As far as what you are looking for, well, I'm not sure you need to go all in and make a custom rom for this. I think many of the things you are trying to do can be done with existing mods.
As far as the power button, you can look into using the Xposed Framework and the Xposed Additions module which allows you to customize the activity of the hardware buttons.

For the buttons on screen for Call / End Call - Well, the Call with a link to favorite contacts with pictures is easily done with most launchers or a favorite contact widget. The End Call option though, I'm not so sure about. Reason being is that any time you're going to make a call, it's going to open the dialer app and the end button will be there. I can't really think of a way around that. I looked into adding a shortcut to that activity with Nova Launcher, but it's not an option available (though there are a dozen other shortcuts).
But with a launcher like Nova, you will have the ability to add / delete anything off the main screen besides what you want. You can lock the home screen so he can't inadvertently make changes to it and enable a gesture he wouldn't be likely to use to allow you to access the app drawer (like 2 fingers swipe up, etc). You can also use one of the variety of locking apps that will prevent access to any unwanted apps by requiring a password or PIN.
Ooh. Custom ROMs. A lot of work for such simple need. Maybe use Tasker instead? You can accomplish this with a scene and some profiles/tasks setup on stock ROM. Only disadvantage I see compared to making your own rom is long boot time. You can bypass everything in regards to Android UI just by making the scene fullscreen and disabling keyguard with a on-boot profile. That way, when he turns the screen back on, it goes right to your scene setup with no "slide-to-unlock" crap. I am very experienced in Tasker, so if you need any help, I can help you. I'd be willing to develop this for you, it would be about a half hour on my part

[Q] Can someone PLEASE make a LOCKSCREEN

This is supposed to be a standalone device.
Great.
Wheres the security then???
Could someone please come up with a lockscreen (pattern / pin etc) for the Gear S
Just thinking aloud. The security is the pin when not connected to the phone. The phones' security and lock screen are in the systemui.apk which I don't even know exists for this device. I guess you would have to alter either one of the clock/home screen's code or alter the already installed disconnect pin, or a stand alone app that has root access. That would be cool for swipe, pattern, or even lock effects, but that's way above my pay grade. I love this watch and hope more development starts up. Just opinions.

I know right... this is a great watch with such scarce development for it.
It is a standalone device so it needs it's own security because i'll be using it without a phone soon. I'll need something to secure it but it seems the only way it can happen is if I learn the SDK and all that stuff which I just do not have time for and no experience with.

Not even an option at this point if you have an AT&T version
I also need a lockscreen not for security, simply because my clothes press accidentaly buttons and sometimes starts phone calls or mess up other things... please make a simple lockscreen so when i touch the screen from "screensaver watch" i must do a specific action to go to homescreen
I use the "do not disturb" on my S to lock the screen
Just one swipe down and one click on the chekbox.

Skipping the Notification Bell (without root)

I posted this on the ZTE Community forums, and thought I'd add it here as well.
The notification bell on the lockscreen is a major annoyance for many of us. I was looking for some other way to manage this, but lockscreen widget apps don't work, and most lockscreen apps don't support the fingerprint reader, Smart Lock, or double tap to wake. After reading a lot of reviews, I'm cautiously optimistic about Next Lock Screen, an Android app by Microsoft, of all things! This app sort of runs "on top" of/with your built in lockscreen. It shows the notifications, right there, no bell, and it still works with the fingerprint reader and the double tap to wake feature on my ZTE Axon 7. It claims to still work with Smart Lock, but I haven't been able to try that yet.
Google Play Store Link: Next Lock Screen - Android Apps on Google Play
In the Next Lock Screen settings, set the "Screen Lock" option to "System" to keep your double tap to wake, fingerprint, PIN, etc. just as you already have them. If you do this, you will still get a glimpse of your old ZTE lockscreen now and then, when you try to go into the Next Lock Screen settings, and it shows you the ZTE screen and makes you fingerprint scan before changing settings.
The Next Lock Screen is not quite as fast as the ZTE Lockscreen, so you glimpse it briefly before your homescreen, when the device unlocks.
I like the app that you suggest, but is there a way to keep showing ZTE wallpapers? ZTEs setup keeps changing wallpapers everytime the screen wakes up. I kinda like the feature. I know the Next Lock Screen app has a similar feature with Bing wallpapers, but that is only once per day.
I've been using Next for the past week to get around the bell and it works quite well - especially with the fingerprint sensor. Very surprised that it took MS to make a very useful and intuitive lockscreen for Android. Of course, I'd rather have pure Android instead of an app work around.
That bell is truly a feature that i dont understand. So, si annoying and stupid.
Thanks for this but I'm gonna try the root way first
There's a way to remove it with root?

Basically any 3rd party lockscreen, like Next, AcDisplay, Ambient display, etc, will disable the stock lockscreen when the 3rd party app takes control. It's a work-around. People probably want some kind of interaction from the lockscreen anyway, and this is a way to get rid of the stupid bell and get that interactive display at the same time.
Edit: I missed the post before yours. I do hope that someone creates an option in settings on a future ROM to disable it directly though. After root and bootloader unlock of course.

or just shout about it loud enough at ZTEs, so that they will make it an optional feature in coming updates... there is a bunch of optimal features they should integrate:
- optional bell on lockscreen
- optional on-screen buttons (as chinese 6gb versions have already)
- optional black/dark theme (specially with that amoled display)
... will tell more when I got the phone :silly:
I kind of defeated the bell using Tasker to simulate a touch right where the bell is. Unfortunately it simulates a touch even when I use the finger print. Not really sure which is more annoying, the bell or having a touch in the upper left every time the screen comes on. That's how ****ing annoying this bell is.

How's that a root workaround? The method you described can be used without root as well and the problem with it is that it doesn't support the fingerprint scanner.
Does anyone have a stock android lockscreen app so I can install is as a system app and delete ZTE one? Thanks

Are you able to use fingerprint with NEXT and the stock lockscreen disabled? For some reason the only way I can use fingerprint is if I have both lockscreens enabled at the same time.

No, only with both on. It's slightly annoying, but less annoying than the bell.

Yes I agree!:good:
Can someone please make an xposed mode or something similar for those who have root and would like to keep the stock lock screen? I imagine it's not that difficult of a task, but I have little to no skills when it comes to coding so can't make anything like that ? Thank you

Sadly, I think you're limited to setting one wallpaper or using the Bing wallpapers.

Still, that was rather clever of you. :good:
I figured out how to have the bell auto open with Tasker. I uploaded the two profiles that are needed to do this. Probably not the most elegant Tasker work but meh it works. This works by simulating a touch where the bell is when you are on the lock screen but not when you use finger print unlock.
Looks like you need root for this.
To import: Save xmls to /sdcard/tasker/profiles
Load up tasker and long press profiles and hit "import".

This profile works without root to auto hit the bell and is much faster than my other one. You need tasker and autoinput.
