[Q] Volume Booster - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I just got a S3 (very happy so far), rooted with Omega 444 (amazing!). Anyway, UI used to use VolumeBoost to increase the volume on my HTC Desire for taking the noisy metro each morning. But it doesn't seem to work on the S3.
I used PowerAmp as my media player.
Any suggestions for the best app for boosting the volume? Ideally it should work without me having to open the app.
Thanks

dont know how volumeboost works, but in combination with poweramp most of the time you have to disable dvc in poweramp settings in order to get sound mods to work

But beware that if you flash a custom kernel with EQ, verify that it doesn't interfere with the Poweramp's EQ or any other app you use. Sometimes, kernel's EQ can be quite sensitive, depending on what you chose.

I'd say everything depends on the music genre you listen to. the original Beats Audio system was created for hiphop/pop/club/Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga/etc. lovers, and it focuses mostly on lower frequencies. yes, it also boosts trebles, but it mainly makes the bass deeper. I haven't used it, but I've read some reviews saying it goes badly with music using lots of medium tones, like rock or classical.
I am using Walkman player with ClearBass and while it does a good job, I still prefer to set the EQ to the "Trebles" setting as I mostly listen to indie/folk/electro-swing and the strong bass goes horribly with them. so I guess, you'd have to test every one of those mods and decide by yourself which one you like the most

AUDIO Mods in addition to your Music Player

I think this mod is still very unkown, that's why I'm posting it here. Especially because I consider the Samsung Galaxy Players (4 and 4.2 because of DAC) as a music player with android benefits.
So I tried several mods and players and mods will always effect the sound quality more than the music player.
Yes right, it doesn't matter which music player you use, whether it's PlayerPro or PowerAMP, because you have to disable the built in EQ anyways. I tried AcidAudio with Walkman Player and thought wow. Then I tried Noozxoide with Noozyplayer and thought this was the best.
Today I found out about this mod: [OFFICIAL][MOD] ViPER4Android (V4A) Audio Effects - Android 2.3 / 4.0 / 4.1 / 4.2 by Zhuhang
I recommend you to try this!
I'm using PowerAMP and first you have to disable Direct Volume Control. Then click on the built in Equalizer and disable EQU, TONE and LIMIT.
Now install the right version of ViPER4Android FX as described (first Manager apk, reboot , then Viper apk) and then install ViPER4Android XHiFi as described. After this you can start your music, start Viper and test what sound fits your ears.

I might install this... Do you recommend installing FX or XHiFi?
Both.
Both have some same options. so deactivate this options in FX and try them in XHiFi. So they can coexist. Some options will use more CPU, so find out what fits you best

Yes it works damn good!
Wow, thanks for this. Working like a charm.
Much better sound quality
I only installed the ViPER4Android FX though.
The installation process was too annoying and didn't work at first, so I didn't want to bother anymore, when I had it running.

For me it's about the same as using power amp by itself.

LOL, I discovered it the same way as you!
But I can't find a way to make it work with PlayerPro. I just ignores V4A. I think in only recognizes the built-in EQ. How do I disable it?
Thanks in advance!
For me the Viper Mods work very well. I' using powerAmp so I just disabled the DVC.
If you want to increase the effect you should download some Viper Audio Kernels :victory:
New version
Just to let everyone who loves this app, there was an updated release for 4.3. I personally tried it and can't get it to work for my SGP5. Tried everything, followed step by step instructions, went into system/lib/soundfx and deleted driver, tried installing driver 5+times all with reboots, still nothing. All this done all day Sunday after finally upgrading to 4.3 (been putting it off since viper4A was not release for 4.3 yet). I would post on OP but i'm a long time lurker and just got around to creating an account here.
Update: gave up for now on it, tried pm'ing zhuhang about the driver loop issue but he had the same idea i had and just to wait for new release this weekend.
on the upside this situation forced me to experiment with other apps, some may be familiar with noozxide's pro app, which i tried and found lacking. But his e-series version does add a noticeable punch to bass while keeping mid - high range. may wanna try it out if you get bored.

Use Viper then, superior to all other audio mods, if you have a moderate to high-end pair of headphones (personally using AKG K520) it can do miracles to the sound, even with the bundled headset MH750 the difference is easily hearable. Of course, it doesn't equal to cd player + amp configuration, but ZU and Viper aren't that far from them

The problem is, V4A runs not stable every time, it can be closed by Low Memory Manager from Kernel, maybe it force closes, and have big battery drain
Weird, stable for me. As for the closing when low ram, move the app to system partition. Also I haven't noticed the battery drainage.

Audio MODs for the Pixel 3?

I just rooted my Pixel 3 and one of the main reasons was that I could use Viper again. But to my dismay, it doesn't work! On top of that, I discovered that Viper has a maximum sample rate of 48kHz, which means I can't use my Sony speaker at its maximum potential of 96kHz with LDAC. So, I went looking for other audio MODs without this limitation and I stumbled upon Ainur James DSP. Now this works great, but it has a very annoying bug. Whenever a notification appears, the sound of the notification causes the music to stop producing any noise, while it doesn't even pause! Is there any fix for this, and if not can anyone recommend me any better mod?

Use a wide band dedicated EQ app for adjusting the sound to your own personal likings, it will literally help with improving your sound experience.

Thanks for your help. But as I mentioned in my original post, I wouldn't prefer Viper as it limits the sound sample rate to 48 kHz.
