[REQUEST] custom ROM for Hisense hs-u980 ? (helpfull links included) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT: For those of you who want the ROM, I've uploaded it in the thread on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-hisense-hs-u980-t3147968
hi every one
I recently got an android, it seems to be a china-android
its called Hisense, hs-u980
the detailed specs are in these links:
---------------
http://www.hisense.es/es/electronica/moviles/item/124-u980.html
http://www.dspecs.com/sp/735/Hisense-U980-Features-and-Specifications.html
---------------
the OS is old and boring 4.2.1 , I searched for a custom ROM but no luck
BUT I found THIS site, and it seems to have ROMs for it:
-----------
http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kw=海信u980&mo_device=1&pn=0&
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3039480252?lp=5028&mo_device=1&pn=0&
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3079914712?pn=0&
-------
but its Chinese so I don't understand a thing, even with Google translate, because I have little - but hopefully enough- experience with custom roming and rooting, and the translator messes with the words
so pleeeeease anyone help me
: D

after getting used to it and studying some roms and development stuff
i found that its not that boring afterall
actually it looks like its based on kitkat theme
but could there be Roms for it
or at least roms that work on it but for a similar device
cuz actually i think its based on some other official android phone but i dont know which one
any help would be appreciated, THX

Got mine last week. It's actually pretty nice for Android 4.2.1, hoping Hisense will upgrade to 4.4

Sorta at times yes. I installed camera JB+. Pictures are a bit better, but I mainly got it for the option to record video with flash. Camera360pro now that will always give you crisp pictures, even on my Huawei Y300, I was amazed.

Hi not sure if this is too late for you:

I have tried all these Chinese developed custom roms and they all work nicely on my Hisense U980.
It is a nice phone but too bad not many roms support.
There are some other roms like ColorOS and other versions of MIUI which I have not tried. But I can share the links if you are interested. Contact me if you are interested.

hi
below are instructions from my memory and links from untested roms. follow at your own risk. cheers
Vaguely, the steps are:
1) Rooting: I used Baidu 1 click root (chinese) . Some guy used Framaroot and works on u980:
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/how-to-root-chinese-hisense-phones-t2889998
2) After rooting, install Mobile Uncle Tools (below)
3) Use Mobile uncle to install the u980 twrp recovery (CHinese version only below)
4) copy roms to root of sd card
5) Boot into recovery and install downloaded roms from SD card

Hi!!
Thanks for all the info but Im having some hard time finding the drivers to detect the phone on my PC.
The thing is that I read that to make a backup, I need first to use "MTK Droid Root & Tools" which would also allow me to root my phone. But that software doesn't detects my phone at all.
I connected my phone as CD drive, then it shows the drivers for it, installed but nothing changes. Device manager detects my phone.
Could you please help me a little on this? I would like to backup the whole ROM and phone before doing any risky changes and also want to backup the IMEI just in case.
Thanks in advance!

Well
Do like i did
Install FRAMAROOT from here
forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
And try an exploit and it will work
As for the Recovery Mode
I think The link in a previous reply - mobile uncle - will only install a Chineese recovery mode

Would that work for doing backups? I am really more interested in being able to backup my phone than anything else.
Also, my main objetive is to repartition the phone since it comes with 2GB for apps and 6GB as storage. I would like to use that other memory to be able to install more apps since I have SD card and these 6GB are there laughing of not being used at all lol. It's verya nnoying to have so much memory and not being able to use :/

MT6575 CM9 or 10 ROMS

Hi Everyone!
I want to know if there are CM roms for Chinese smatrphones with the MT6575 processor.
Thanks
Unfortunately there are no kernel sources from Mediatek so there are no Custom ROM like CM, the only way to make a ROM is to add some code to the kernel with reverse engineering and this isn't so good, because there are no ways to port MIUI or similar ROMs :'(
I'm working for some mods on Zopo models like ZP100, ZP200, ZP300, ZP400, ZP900, ZP400+ and ZP300+ but nothing over ROOT, CWM and BusyBox
Thanks AresSieran

There are a few custom roms available in that same thread where the cwm recovery was, you could try some of those.
I'm using the 4.1.9 rom found in that thread.
Also there are a couple of Lewa bases roms for MKTK6575 phones you can try.
I dont have the link right here, but google Lewa mtk6575 and I think you will find something.
But first, is your phone working now or not?
If your phone is working, do make a full backup of the firmware before trying to flash any custom rom.
If the phone isnt working, then it cant be much worse, so then you can try any custom rom without risking anything.
Hi I have a 7" tablet with mtk 6575 dual sim cards, do you know where can I find a custom rom for it, it is similar to freelanders pd something with 3g moudles, bluetooth and gps built in any help will be appreciated...thanks.
Also before flashing the tablet, how can I make a full backup of my actual rom.

If anyone is looking for a source for mediatek boards, Alcatel has released its sources. Alcatel phones are made by mediatek. I'm currently attempting to port CM to my S'pop which runs in MT6575 board but I'm not yet done syncing repos from CM. If you anyone is intersted, their sources can be found here.

Did you post this by mistake?
You did post the exact same message almost one year ago on page one of this thread. And I did give you a reply as well then.
If you still have the problem, and havent found any working firmware after looking for one year, then I fear you will not find it at all.
But you could always try. Since you already have the cwm on the phone, you could try any rom available for flashing with the cwm, and hope that one will work.
I did learn that these clones can be different even if they are labeled tha same. So one rom for eg. MTK6575 GT-I9300 may fail on a similar looking phone labeled MTK6575 GT-I9300. This happened to me when I tried to flash my wife's phone with my rom. The phones looked the same and was baught from the same dealer at the same time at a marked. So I asumed the hardware was the same. I had a lot of work getting the phone to work again.

Root (check) Recovery & ROM (no check)
Greets to all,
I just got this device myself & rooted it yesterday with the Framaroot.apk & Gandalf exploit. It's a very nice phone & takes great photos! (Btw, I sold my Xperia Z Ultra & used the money to buy this phone; the Z Ultra was simply too big, had no flash & screen mirroring was completely unstable). Unfortunately, almost everything out there about this phone is in Chinese; even the recoveries are in Chinese. I found a few pages about a Kitkat 4.4 ROM for this device, but the download is in 3 parts and online surveys must be completed to activate the downloads One of the pages can be found if you search for "Upgrade/Update ZTE Nubia Z5 to 4.4 KitKat" but I think it's likely bogus.
If anyone can find an English recovery or decent ROM for this device, please post & thanks in advance!
Edit: It seems there are ROMS and CWM recovery on the MIUI website (search "ZTE" and separately "recovery" on the English [en] site). I'm downloading a version 5 ROM but may not have time to check it out today.
Thanks bro

You use which? ZTE Z5 MINI? or how do you know what model to download the rom???
waiting on a recovery
Hi cesarguaro,
Unfortunately, the recoveries mentioned on the site are not for Qualcom based devices like our NX501s; therefore, I haven't tried the ROM I found for the Nubia Z5 yet. It's too bad the stock recovery can't be used for backing up the ROM even though it can likely be used to install the ROM (which is too risky without a backup IMO). Have you installed a non-Chinese, usable recovery yet?
As for Miui, if you go to en dot miui dot com, you'll see the downloads link right at the top. Under "Brands" click on the ZTE logo and you're on your way

[Q] Android Devices Currently Not Supported By Cyanogenmod

Hello Guys,
Could anyone please provide some info about this case:
o What are my options if I have an Android device (smartphone) not supported by CyanogenMod?
o Is there anything than waiting until my model will be added to the supported list? I bought a very simple and reasonably priced "no-name" phone (Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM), and I learn now one disadvantage is that it is not supported.
o I also did not find anything about rooting, flashing or even booting it up into safe mode / recovery.
Any help and info is very much appreciated.

Well, here it is straight forward, your device only gets official support if the Cyanogenmod teams deems the unofficial build for it stable and reliable to gain official support. If there isn't any unofficial builds then it's safe to say that it will never have official support. As for rooting the device there may be methods for it available, a universal root for example, flashing as in roms and other things, no clue, never heard of that device before and there might not be any support for it either. So with that being said, hope this helps you.

Hi Yoelpro,
Thanks for your info. Since my first post I have managed to root my device - was very happy. It was not too easy, given that it is extremely minimal supported. I already tried TWRP with GooManager, but when I try to install an open recovery sript, surprise surprise: "no recoveries were found for your device".
Any ideas if there is another way to find one and copy it on the phone? I have to confess being too scared even trying to flash a custom ROM without flashing a backup first. I managed to find out that the stock ROM is a Vanilla on my Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM.
Thank you.

Hey there Critical Detox
Thanks for your info. Since my first post I have managed to root my device: Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM - was very happy to see that it is working.
Unfortunately, I could not even find an unofficial CM build, I'm quite sure that an official build does not exist. Interestingly, my device was once perfectly recognized as SP-2X.SLIM and once recognised as HTC (for drivers) during the rooting. I'm very curious IF or AS WHAT my device would be recognized if I started the one click install of CM. I might be a chicken, but a careful chicken as I don't want to do it before saving a backup of the stock ROM to my SD card first. When I try to install an open recovery sript (GooManager), surprise surprise: "no recoveries were found for your device". I managed to find out that the stock ROM on my device is a Vanilla 4.2.2 but could I not find this ROM to download yet.
Any help is very welcome, as I am not quite an expert and my phone is a quasi no-name model.
Cheers,
schmayer

I will produce a guide after full tests
What I don't understand is the reason why an Oppo R5 is there even if there is no development so far...
Too all those wishing to change their Chinese R5 to the international R8106 rom
Hi this is exactly what happened to me. I did manage however to completely reflash the phone as an international r8106 instead of being the Chinese variant thus removing all Chinese applications and characters on the phone which was more oriented to the Chinese market.
Here's how to do it:
1. Root your phone you using forceroot
(www3.zippyshare.com/v/ylWtMVbd/file.html)
2. Install the Rashr application from the market (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...r+apk&pcampaignid=APPU_1__Vw_VrCYDoPteZ-2grgE)
3. Download the r8106 stock recovery
(community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41920&extra=)
4. Flash the recovery with rashr
5. Download Color OS v.2.0.1i
(community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41914)
6. Reboot your phone into stock recovery (now r8106 recovery)
7. Wipe data and catch
8. Install zip (navigate to where your downloaded ROM is)
9. Flash the ROM
10. Reboot
11. Once rebooted you may get a notification saying "NV BACKUP FAILED" if this happens, simply dial *#268# on your phone's keypad and calibrate your nv parameters.
12. Enjoy :good:
* This is optional but you can also now re-root your phone using forceroot as previously mentioned and install twrp (https://dl.twrp.me/r5/) which will allow you to make a backup.
** Finally, this goes without saying but i'll say it anyways, this is completly at your own risk! I'm not responsible for any damages you do to your phone or if these instructions don't work for you. So its expected that you fully understand the complexities of flashing prior to doing this. Otherwise you may run a real risk of bricking your phone and making it completly useless.
Good luck and I hope this post helped someone.
I did everything you said. I managed. all is well, but stopped working GPS. may you know how to fix it?

MPIE M15 MTK6595 need advice

Hello,
i recently bought a smartphone from Ali.
It's a MPIE M15 with MTK6595 (CPU-z is agree). Here's the specs :
Android Version : 5.0.0
Baseband : MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V43, 2014/09/17 10:10
Kernel : 3.4.67 [email protected] #1
Build Number : A100-HYDY 20150627-155331
Custom Build Version : 1435391497
Hardware : mt6595
After test, it's already rooted, i can access to Android Recovery.
The problem is that the installed rom is a Chinese Android version.
i want to install the factory Android Lollipop, but i cant find any version for my phone.
CyanogenMod installation via recovery have a OTA error..
So with my specs, is that possible to run another rom, like the Official Android (5.1?) and how to do it?
Thanks for your answer
Update
I understand that i have to install a custom recovery, but now i have a new problem..
MTK Droid Tools says the hardware is fake in Kernel or Firmware rolleyes not corresponding to the phone..
How to format all the phone, i want the Android Official Firmware on it, how to do that please ?..
OK MTK Droid Tools recognize my phone now. I do the backup for a custom TWRP recovery. if anyone know a link the original image of android .zip, thank you to tell me..
i continue :cyclops:

Please write if you find the program Im interested in purchasing that phone, but don't want to learn chinese
By the way, how that phone looks like in real life? All options works normally?
Hello, after two days working on the phone, i'm almost there.
First, this phone is faking his own components.
It's sold for a MTK6595, in fact it's a MTK6572. Same for Android, it's KitKat, not Lollipop. Not sure about the RAM (maybe 2Go). 1 virus app (AVG). Chinese stuff installed. I bought it 85$ from Ali (i understand now^^). The Camera is sh**, really! (but photo is not a prob for me).
Im not an experimented dev, the phone seems to be block somewhere, it's very hard to launch a custom recovery. I extracted the Stock ROM with MTK Droid Tools.
Finally, I install a custom recovery after a day of search, the Carvil Touchscreen and make it stable for the mPie. Now i want to install a Custom Rom on it, after replace the boot.img from Stock to Port, i have to modify the kernel, i will see..
If i managed a custom rom to get worked, i will post a tuto, if someones are interested
i continue :cyclops:
