Bluetooth issue with car stereo - Verizon LG G3

I came from the Galaxy S3 and I have a Kenwood car stereo that I send bluetooth to from my phone. I noticed a couple differences/issues with the setup when I switched to the G3.
1) Connection time - My GS3 would auto connect fairly fast to the car deck but it seems like the G3 will sometimes take twice as long to connect to it. Anyone else have an issue like that?
2) Song display - use spotify to play the music on my phone. With my GS3, the stereo would show the artist name and song title of the song that was currently playing. With the G3 it doesn't show any of that information. I've messed around with the stereo to see if its a setting there but it isn't. It's set to display title and artist. Is there anyway to get it to send that info from the phone?

I realize this is a bit off your original question, but still posting for the sake of continuity of the phone...
I have a Pioneer double din touchscreen unit that has worked flawlessly with my Galaxy nexus, my LG G2, and now my LG G3, on bluetooth and displaying music information from apps on my phone.

I'm having the same issue in my BMW X5. The artist and album and any other information is all "unknown".

I had this issue with both my S4 and now my G3. However, it seems to just be hit or miss. I work for a used car department, and what I've found after switching phones is: Some vehicles proprietary systems that displayed info from my S4 do not display it for my G3, but some that didn't display for my S4 do display for my G3.
As to the X5 comment. Not really sure what to tell you, because I took a 328i on a check delivery last week and my G3 synced up with it, displaying proper information and all.

I came from a gs3 running the latest cm 11 rom. I have Ford Sync in my truck and as I use bluetooth exclusively for phone calls, I cannot speak to the display. However I have noticed that the connection is sometimes just as quick as the gs3 was, but sometimes can take up to a minute. I'll post an update if I get a chance to test out the media display.
Update: I played an mp3 with Play Music through my truck's bluetooth audio and the artist/title displayed on my console. Looks like this is a vendor specific issue.

Also have found this problem. It's kind of disappointing because I rather like being able to see the information. I figured that with Bluetooth 4 these problems would be a thing of the past

Ford Sync - Streaming Media

Sooo.. upgraded from the Evo to the Photon mainly due to the international capabilities of the Photon. I'm having a couple of issues but by far the most consistant and frustrating is the problems with streaming media via Ford Sync.
Previously I've used the sync with my Evo (factory OS and various rooted roms) and my wife's Charge with no issues whatsoever. Bluetooth syncs up on the Photon and works just fine. I can make and receive calls without problems, navigation integration works great. The issue is, if I use the vehicle's steering wheel controls to skip songs and the handset is in sleep (ie screen off) the tracks skip and work without problem. But when I unlock the screen, the song I originally started skipping from is 'paused'.. even though an entirely different song is streaming on the stereo. Then if I use any device controls, the song on the device starts playing again.
This is all on a non-rooted device (going to read up on rooting and roms here in a little bit) with the 'default' media player.
Just wondering if anyone else is having similar issues or knows of a fix.
Just tested in my mothers escape and works with mine

This isn't something that happened once, quite a few times in a car I drive more frequently than 'trying out' something in their mom's car.
this happens with my wifes edge and with the head unit ive got in my alero. not sure what the deal is

[Q] Disable Autostart Music App on Bluetooth Connection?

So I've noticed something about my G3 that I haven't been able to solve just yet. In my car (2014 Scion FR-S), when I start up and the car connects to my phone over Bluetooth, the music player will start up. I don't have any music on my device yet so it doesn't play anything, but the app starts.
I did some reading and found that it might be Google Play Music related so I froze that app in TiBU. However, now the default "Music" app starts up in its place.
Further compounding the weirdness is that it doesn't do this in our other car, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited. It just connects - doesn't do anything weird, start any apps, etc.
The FR-S display audio is pretty barebones. The only option I found in there that I thought might affect things was the manner of BT connection (vehicle or phone initiated) but it didn't change anything (switching that to phone, the phone would just no longer connect). Obviously I could disable the Media Player portion of the Bluetooth profile in the car and it would just connect as a phone, and I may end up doing that since I rarely listen to music on my phone (or at all) when I'm in my car.
Anyone have any ideas on how to stop this?
This might be your head unit. I have an aftermarket Sony unit that on key off causes the phone to start playing music again instead of stopping or pausing. No issues with other head units in my other vehicles.
I was hoping someone would have a solution for this .. I ahve been searching for the longest while for a fix ... anyone have any idea what we can try to fix this ?
My wife's G2 does this in our 2014 Prius. It does have some demo music it came with, some classical stuff, and it plays it ! Very annoying. We could never figure out any way to get it to not do it, so we removed her connection to the car's Bluetooth altogether. That stopped it.
My G3 acts really strange around the Prius so I generally just use one of my other phones in it. The MotoG works fine with exceptional audio quality, and the N4, N5, and N7 all work as expected.
I use poweramp and that never happens
I checked yesterday and my G3 auto started Play Music as soon as I Bluetooth linked it to my Prius just like my wife's G2 does, except different player. Bad LG ! Don't do stuff I don't tell you to do !
I suspect this has to do with the head unit rather than the phone. My G3, Moto X, RAZR HD, and RAZR M, all auto start music in my 2011 Avalon.

No Metadata sent to receiver

Hello all, just a couple of thing that I'm having problems with and thought you guys may be able to help. I have a Sony XAV-712HD receiver in my car and use the Xperia Z3v with it and I get no song info from any app via Bluetooth connection. I tried my wife's Galaxy S4 and my friends Note 4 and both put song info up on the display immediately. Also anyone using MirrorLink, I have low sound quality and can't adjust the volume on the phone while in Mirrorlink. I know it says Bluetooth is not supported when using ML but if I use audio through the cable it only plays through my front speakers. Anything you guys can help with would be great! Thanks in advance!
So I can better help you, which music apps do you use? For example I use Google's Play Music. On a side note, have you checked Bluetooth settings while you are connected or trying too connect to see what's going on?
I just posted a reply but don't know where it went... LOL Anyway, I have checked BT settings on both devices connected and not. I use Spotify, Amazon, Walkman with music on sd card, and iHeart. I have factory reset both devices and still no go. I really wanted to like this device but the lack of data while on a call just doesn't work with my career and my boss ordered me a Note 4 that will be here in the morning. If you don't have time to mess with it don't worry about it. Just kind of wondering if anyone else was having an issue.
That's weird... Sorry I couldn't help you. Hopefully that issue works out for you. The data and call feature should be fixed along with xlte with the lollipop update which should be soon. Which could be this month or next month.
Not a problem man. Thanks for trying to help! I was told by the rep at the end of last year it would be a couple of months but it has recently become a real issue. Thanks again!
My poineer unit receives song data from every app I've tried. Walkman, Spotify(What I use most), Google play, pandora.. etc.
However, my girlfriends G3 doesn't show anything when playing via her phone.

[Q] Bluetooth Audio-Play on Connect

Whats up everyone... I've had this phone for a few months now and can say it's easily the best I've ever had.
The only "issue" to speak of that I've found is when my phone connects to my car bluetooth, it doesn't always automatically play. I've tried clearing/resetting pairing, all sorts of different music players (power amp, google play, android basic, etc), even tried to utilize the Smart Connect native app in the phone to start the music player app when connected. I have all available options checked related to automatically playing music on bluetooth connect.
Bottom line, the problem is intermittent, frustrating, and I can't seem to figure it out. Is anyone else out there have a similar issue or have any tips related to this?

What stereo system do you have in your car? I have the Pioneer AVH-X4500BT in my car and each time I start my car up, it searches to auto connect to my phone. Once it does and I have it on Bluetooth Audio mode, it plays whatever song I just had played on my phone.

Also have a Pioneer head unit BT6400 I believe. Have used it with my past 3 phones... motorola and HTC without issue. The behavior you've described is the way all have worked in the past. Now, for whatever reason, sometimes it does not auto play.

Were there any changes you've applied to your phone? Safe bet is to clear out the BT connection in memory and connect as if new. Also try to limit to just one music player on the phone. Because I think it would automatically run off of Walkman, but other players can interfere.

Bluetooth Connected - No Sound

Hey everyone,
I've seen a few mentions of this issue but would like to have a thread to specifically discuss it and maybe find a resolution.
After pairing a bluetooth music device for the first time it will play just fine.
Come back some time later, the device reconnects automatically but no sound will play (even though your music app shows that the track is playing).
Turn off bluetooth, or just disable media streaming for the device, turn back on/reenable and sound comes back.
This is an extremely annoying issue that wasn't present on my last Android 5.x.x device. I'll forget about it until I'm driving and then have to wait until I stop to safely restart bluetooth.
Please let's keep this topic reserved for this specific bluetooth issue. If you have a different issue please start another thread.
My device: Spring LG G5 (LS992) on 6.0.1
Notes so far:
Simply restarting the phone doesn't fix it.
Unconfirmed - Happens only after switching bluetooth devices (going from your car, to your home stereo, and then back out in the car). I switch vehicles a lot for my job.
Suggestion here is to clear app data for Google Connectivity Services. Will try today.
Like mentioned in the other topic I might have the same issue on my Nexus 5 (2013) with Android 6.0.1 and parrot carkit. How is your Bluetooth volume on the phone when you start playing music? To me it seemed to be worse when Bluetooth volume was muted actually.

I have the same problem. Came from a G4, which worked fine playing pandora in my car. On my G5, I start pandora on the dash app, it opens on the phone in accessory mode as normal. Everything looks like it's playing ...dash shows what's playing and all, but no sound. I haven't tried the restarting bluetooth/media audio on the bluetooth device settings, but I'll try that after work to confirm it's the exact same problem.
I have been experiencing this issue on my LG G5. I have phone audio, but no media audio. The car display shows whatever is playing on the phone, including the time code as a song advances for instance, but no sound. I have checked in bluetooth settings to ensure both phone and audio are on. I've disconnected and reconnected. It did work 1 time, but that's it. I've had the phone for a little over 2 weeks and its fully updated.
I have the Same issue in my car, everytime i need to disable/Enable Bluetooth to get Sound working.

Bluetooth has been the one problem I have with this phone. I lose connectivity to my Moto 360, my headphones need to be unpaired before I can use them again, it's seriously driving me nuts.
I am having momentary phone audio cut out when using my car BT. The radio will come back on for several seconds and the the phone will come back. I am wondering if the VoLTE function might have something to do with this. I have disabled VoLTE so I can test it although I really have no clue if it is related.
I believe this has to do with having 2 devices connected. The 1st will act as phone connection and the 2nd as audio only. The phone might think for some reason you still are connected to both or you actually have a lot of range in one of them and remains on.
Disabling VoLTE resolved my problem.

First of all let me say that folks are reporting different issues with Bluetooth. Mine was that when connected in my car I would lose phone audio for 10 or 20 seconds repeatedly. The radio audio would come back on and after a while the phone audio would come back.
VoLTE, as I understand it, allows voice and data simultaneouly. I disabled it on my G5 under settings/call/VoLTE. Once you disable it you will no longer see "HD" displayed in you dialer links. My problem resolved completely. I called T-mo this morning and cancelled my replacement handset.

If you disable that, you lose Band 12 in America on T-Mobile, which I need since I drive through some pretty backwoods places where Band 12 is my only way not to switch to Edge.

VoLTE may not even be your related to your problem. I would try disabling it just to troubleshoot.
FYI still having to turn bluetooth off and on very often.
It does only seem to happen when I connect from one device to another i.e. I listen in my car and later that night I use my bluetooth speaker. Phone thinks music is playing on the speaker but no sound from speaker. Turning bluetooth off and back on fixes immediately (after reconnect)

I have Sony xperia z3 and only use Bluetooth with one device and have the same issues. Only started with 6.0 upgrade
I have the same problem on my H850:
When I turn on my headset, it will show "connected to call audio" in Bluetooth settings (my bluetooth is always on due to my Pebble smartwatch). No matter how many times I turn on and off my headset, it will always only connect to call audio, despite the option "use for media audio" being activated. If I unpair it and pair it, it connects to both for this one time, before going back to the previous behavior. If I turn bBluetooth off and on again, it will connect to both call and media audio again for this one time before returning to the previous behavior.
Since it's the intl version, there is no VoLTE option.
Is there a way (settings or using an app) to fix this and force the phone to connect media audio every time?
I have the exact same issue, except that I have an android wear watch.
My only solution so far is disabling call audio for the G5 in the Bluetooth definition, but that really sucks.
Have you found any solution?
This is a known issue with LG G5 and the sad thing is that LG doesn't have a clue. Unpairing and repairing is the only solution until Android 7 upgrade. I went as far as resetting to factory defaults, T-Mobile even replaced my device..same issue. **** SOLVED WITH ANDROID 7 ****
I still have the same issue with it showing as playing with no sound and it continues happening even after the Android 7 upgrade. Issue is intermittent, restarting phone or headset or disabling and reenabling BT are only solutions I've found so far. I confirmed the vol is on high on both device and receiver.
Happens on my Kia Soul, Sony SBH50 and SBH52. The only BT devices I don't seem to have the issue with is my old MW600s, so it may be related to BT version on the headsets. May be related to switching devices sometimes, but I've had it occur when using only one device, but having made a call, or left range with the headset away from my G5. Calls still have audio but Stereo/Media BT profile doesn't operate, even though both ends make it seem as if it does.
Thanks,
Peter
