HD Voice / Microphone - Sprint LG G3

Anyone get to use HD voice yet? Me and my dad both got the G3 and when I talked to him I'm not too happy, he sounded louder and closer (for lack of a better description) to the phone but it made for an unpleasant experience. Also, when I'm talking to my gf (she has an iPhone on a different carrier..ie no hd voice) half the time she can't really understand me and says my iPhone (work cell on Verizon) sounds wayy better. Anyone having a similar experience?

The call quality on this phone sucks. I always get static sounds and pops.

I was actually on the phone today and was experiencing the same thing. Hopefully it's software and not hardware

I'm having the same issues.

Life IS good with the LG G3 LGSL990

It IS the hardware. The problems with the pops and static disappeared when I received my replacement device.

I think the HD Voice rocks. I get better calls all the way around. If Im talking Sprint to Sprint on HD it's crystal clear. Sounds like the usual round of flawed devices made their way out just like any launch day phone. Best of luck to you guys!

HD Voice has been great for me as well. I got my wife a G3 when I got mine and everytime I call her we are on HD Voice and the audio quality is much higher than a reg call. I would dare say that audio quality when on HD Voice is so good that it is comparable to that of Skype. I'm loving it.
Have not had any issues hearing anybody or anybody complaining about the way they hear me. No issues with calls, period.

Is there any icon or notification showing that you're using HD Voice? I see where it says attempting but it disappears afterwards

Yes of course. That is the notification. When speaking to somebody on an HD Voice capable device, the "icon" will not go away.

For those experiencing popping and cracking...
In the dialer go to menu - - > call settings and un-check voice enhancement. You will still get HD voice, but it drastically reduced the popping and cracking for me. I have a feeling it a noise cancelation feature that is faulty. Probably need people to demonstrate it at Sprint stores and get some tickets opened up to get visibility for the issue.

Same here. Best I've experienced in any phone to date. I've got Verizon as well thru work and this is hands down crisper. I think once sprint has finished upgrading their network they're gonna be a serious contender.

[APP]New Version of WiFi Tether is up *8-12-10*

http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...?name=wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre4.apk&can=2&q=
Just saw this a few minutes ago.. thought I would share it since I haven't seen anyone else post it yet.
Update: I just tested with my laptop and it is indeed working.
this is the first version that has worked for me at least. besides Barnacle.
Update 2: [BUG] It starts fine and functions for me. But when Disabled and then re-enabled the program says unknown state.
After rebooting it works again.. so if you turn it off you have to reboot to use it again. minor inconvenience , but better than no tethering at all.
Update 3: New version is out and available here
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre5.apk Good eye dabezt1
This fixes the unknown state issue. I had to reboot after installing to get normal operation from it.
I noticed on code.google.com that this version has been deprecated but it seems to be working fine on the vibrant.
Update 4 From Zephik
Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre8-TEST1 *** HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL ***
New version of Wireless Tether available: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Update 5
From the following link you will find all available versions. Check them periodically
for updated apk's
http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+Size+DownloadCount
Again, Thanks for the heads up Zephik
Mine seems to get stuck at the Start Tethering: Please wait while starting.
UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got errors initially (that should get fixed in later versions) but restarted it and I can see the WiFi broadcasting!
Love Android WiFi tether! I will be donating again shortly.
Worked for me on Edge to my iPad. I will test the 3G tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Edit: I had the unknown state thing too. A restarted fixed it up.
mine works tested with my friends Iphone 4, i was running on Edge, however when i stop it i still have the Tether Icon in the Icon bar..and it says that its still running any ideas? im going to power cycle and post the results
This works so much better than Barnacle for some reason, just going on speed alone.
Well I am sure the bugs will get worked out. But we have something viable for now.
Also not a fan of barnacle..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Worked great on edge. Faster than barnacle. I also got the error after closing it and had to restart to use again. Will try out with 3G later today, but seems awesome so far.
Works great so far. Pulled +3mbps on 3g on a speed test via a tethered ipad. It does result in the "unknown state" error on disconnect however... but all that matters is that it works!

Works great. Seems faster than Barnacle.
The app does get messed up upon shutting down and says unknown state. Reboot seems to be the only way to fix it. I was able to get it to work once by ending the task and retrying. I was only able to do that once though. WiFi adapter gets stuck.
We're so close!!

It is much faster than Barnacle.

I deleted the one I did while tethered with WiFi Tether, but here is one result directly from the phone in the same place.

[Q] Bit confused

Alright I have a att branded note, but it is on tmobile. I traded for my sg2 about 4 months ago and all was well then got 4g and for the most part never freezes or hangs up or reboots, I do have a hard time getting 3g it either goes 4g or edge in my area. Now this is my dilimea since moving back to college (In the danm woods) I get horrible service if any, most of the time roaming always on edge and 2 bars or less. But what I am missing most now is wifi calling!
My questions is how can I go about just adding it to this phone, I think it has been rooted(Don't really know how to tell) It does have CWM gui installed on it
Could I do what is mentioned in this post?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674592
If not is thier a stable rom out there that still has amazing battery life, and sip calling?
Honestly just looking for a bit of help do not know where to really start

Your link is from the international Note forum. Don't know if you can do this to the i717 Note. How about using google voice and either talkatone or groove IP with your google voice number? That lets you do wifi calling using a google voice number. All free. You just have to set it up. Only thing is you have 2 numbers. Your carrier number and your google voice number. Unless you port your cell number to google voice ($20). Only thing is mms still does not work over google voice, but talkatone have a work around. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply I did do google voice for a bit but found it to be a bit slow on the push from calls and text messages and to have 2 numbers gets a bit confusing at times and I missed some calls I shouldn't ect....Just thought there might be a way just to bring back this feature.

If you go into the tmobile note forum, look at tomin's thread. Think it's called Goodies. He has instructions on how to flash the tmobile rom to your ATT note. It is a little complicated, but I was able to do it.
Pay attention to the root part. I lost root flashing the tmobile modem. It was a stock flash with no root. Had to re-root. Wasn't that hard, just annoying.
Check that out. I had the tmobile rom running on the blaze modem and it worked fine. The tmobile modem made my phone run hot. Worth a try. Good luck.
Was able to reflash custom roms without problems. Just read alot and understand what it is you are doing.
I think mine is already rooted are you saying to root it again?

Yeah- that's the thread. When I did it a couple months ago, I flashed the tmo stock rom, but it wasn't rooted cause it was stock. I still had my custom recovery I think? So I rooted the stock rom and was able to restore via Tit. BU. Don't remember what steps I took- it was awhile ago. But I followed all the steps outlined. The tmo modem ran hot, so I switched back to blaze and that combination worked fine. If you are not sure, read all you can. On that thread, and on the t-mo threads within the att note sections. Just search the threads. Good luck!
Is there any rom I can just flash to alleviate most of this? Just looking for it to do the wifi calling or SIP i think its called. And still be able to use my att branded phone on tmobile...Anyone have any ideas?

No rom will fix the basic issue of hardware incompatability -- all the suggestions just get you a less than optimal, but working, phone experience.

HTC Sense 5 for EVO LTE

I was talking with a Sprint rep the other day and mnentioned Sense 5 coming to the EVO LTE. He said it won't happen. He didn't credit any resources for his answer but I don't remember 100% what he was saying. Something about the EVO LTE not being able to handle Sense 5. I then told him it was ported to this phone and the only things that are a bit screwey (that I know of) are Blinkfeed, Bluetooth, and data connection.
Has anyone else asked or heard anything about such things? In my opinion, HTC should take out Blinkfeed and throw us a Sense 5 update.
If I recall correctly, the only issue I had while running Sense 5 was no Bluetooth. I don't remember having any Blinkfeed or connection issues. YMMV
Hopefully the Sprint rep didn't know what he was talking about

I had connection issues with every flash combination I tried. WiFi would constantly turn off and on. Data would no constantly disconnect and connect. Blinkfeed just doesn't look scaled correctly. It looks kind of gross. Lol. But hopefully we'll see something.

Did that more times than I can remember. Tried different firmwares, different radio, different wipes, superwipes, even wiped internal and external storage, installed - booted - restarted - flashed - rebooted even, lol. I've tried it all. Nothing works for me. I've tried switching from different ROM's while preforming different scenarios. I get the same result no matter what I do. But every other ROM works just fine. Even reprogramming with the ##dialer codes did nothing for me. This happened on my other EVO LTE too (this is my replacement). I'm starting to wonder if I'm Sense 5 retardant or something. Hahahaha.

I'd take a Sprint reps word with a grain of salt. It's obvious he doesn't know what he's talking about given the fact we have a 99.9% functioning port for our phones. Only issues I've ever had are a couple of camera functions, which the devs are aware of. I don't use Bluetooth so it's not a deal breaker for me.

I tend not to listen to them in general. Otherwise, NJ would have 4G since last December, and both my wife and I would have refurbished phones.
They claimed that her GS3 had water damaged when it wouldn't boot past the final boot screen. Fixed it by calling Samsung directly, who told me to factory reset. I then rooted and updated to avoid the "Sudden Death Syndrome" that the 16gb Sprint version of the GS3 suffers.
My phone list signal, and they couldn't figure it out (they didn't really try. He restarted the phone once, went to settings, and gave up.) I went home, flashed the newest firmware, and voila! Good as new. In both cases, I put the refurb phones back into the package and mailed them right back.
Long story short, question EVERYTHING that they tell you. You probably have more knowledge, anyway. They only sell phones to blindsided customers who Le looking at the pretty screens.

According to some on here this guy has a pretty good track record of being accurate. No timeline though as far as I know.

Every phone is different for reasons that I'll never understand. Blinkfeed and data work perfectly for me with absolutely no issues. I don't use BT at all, so our phone's Sense 5 port is pretty much flawless as far as I'm concerned.
But then I try an AOSP rom, and my phone turns into a turd. And not even one of those good turds where you don't really even have to wipe. My phone hates AOSP, and meanwhile I'm reading the forums and everyone using CM or Liquid or Carbon or etc. is just LOVING the rom and it runs great for them. Meanwhile I feel like I'm using a Froyo phone from 2010. When I go back to Sense 5, everything is better.
I dunno man. Sorry to hear it's not working as well for you.

mine works as good when accessing it directly with gogle apps. add 3rd party apps to the mix that need the gps locstion for search rather than locating me on the map and you start having intermittent issues.
fandango, alfred, beautiful widget weather, golauncher weather display. it is intermittent too.
never had such issue with htc devices such as mt4g, mt4g slide, amaze,....
i also believe is in samsung code because these apps are suppose to be able to pull off mobile and wireless networks and my cousin had similar gps irregularities on a few flavors of the original S and s2.

I'm using the stock app, but I'm on T-Mobile stock ROM.
WiFi tethering worked great on the Stock ROM from T-Mobile. I recently upgraded to ARHD 8.0 and have not tried it yet, but I imagine it should work the same. I have the 2.5GB high-speed data cap though -- I hear the Stock WiFi tether does not play nice if you have unlimited High Speed data.

Is there a fix for no GPS?

I've changed radios and even used Odin when I switched from 4.1.2 to a newer ROM. I've had no GPS for awhile any ideas?

Yea I was on clean ROM (whatever the latest release was) I was on that for a very long time I flashed it the day of release and switched maybe a month ago. Either way one day it just stopped working. Now I'm on the latest stock vzw I've changed radios and used the fastergps app. It will very rarely find my location but immediately lose it my GPS is just nonfunctional nothing happened to cause it either it just worked one day and not the next.

Try this,
No guarantees, but many have claimed it worked -- I know its not the same rom, but what do you have to lose?

I've changed radios and even used Odin when I switched from 4.1.2 to a newer ROM. I've had no GPS for awhile any ideas?

I've gone back to Verizon stock 4.1.2 Rooted as I explain here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-verizon/help/rom-optimizing-t2817294
Life on the note 2 has never been better IMO. Everything just works.

Sure its not a hardware issue?
I did the screw fix and connection tab fix for a friend and it's back to normal on hia phone.
I had this problem when my software updated to 4.4.2 and I going the only fix that worked for me was a factory reset. It is my understanding that this update was very hard on Samsung phones. My GPS works fine now. But the price is it took me about 3 days to get my phone back to the way I had it.
Not sure if it would be the case for others but this has been discussed a lot in the slim thread. There is an edit to the GPS config that helps some people.

Where can I find this?

1. Use a root file manager to edit /etc/gps.conf (mount as R/W)
2. Scroll to the bottom of the file and change
LPP_PROFILE = 0. This worked
to
LPP_PROFILE = 1
3. Reboot
Again I just know this helped in Slim not sure if it applies across the board.
I was exactly like you. I used CleanROM for a long time. It was exactly what I needed. But I was getting outdated so I started flashing different KK roms.
I recommend SlimKat 4.4. If you search the long thread, there is the gps editing that is suggested above. or you can try this one, a slightly more elaborate version:

But the thing that helped me the most was actually full wipe of internal storage in addition to system wipe, cache, etc. I freed up about 6GB and my GPS started working better.
