flashlight - Verizon LG G3

Can anyone tell me if the G3 has a native flashlight app? I Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Download one man. No stock torch here.

Either grab one from the Store or the G3 TweaksBox also includes one that you can access through the power menu or set up with the Nav keys

This is what I did. I used the G3 TweaksBox and set the flashlight to turn on by pressing and holding the vol up button with the screen off.

Sure doesnt. I know the play store has multiple options, but OEM originals are always better. Widgets usually function/look better as well.
Just one of the many "little things" LG has taken away with the g3

I downloaded "Tiny Flashlight + LED" (free in Play store). It allows you to add a nice-looking widget to turn on and off. Very simple, works well. Has very good ratings too.

[Q] New to Android couple questions (battery/setting)

I finally got my HTC One today after calling T-mobile and ordering over the phone, loving this phone and glad I got rid of my iPhone 4. I am currently charging my One, first charge so far and I have a few questions just to make sure everything is good and perhaps making my life easier.
1. Easier way to force quit an app - I was on GSam Bat and had 93.5% apps using battery, I'm figuring that is too high, at least for me.
2. How to enable 4G/3G - Coming from iOS I saw a enable 3G button, making it easy to toggle it, I've only seen 4G on my notification bar too
3. An app that has a bunch of toggles for wifi/gps/data ect - Something as similar as SBSettings, being able to add on for what I prefer.
And if anyone has other tips for a FNG, I'd greatly appreciate it if you posted it.
hey welcome, for the third question I would recommend Power Toggles or Notification Toggles those are my two favorites. try them out on the play store or try searching for a notification widget.

Got myself power toggles, thanks!
There are stock data and power widgets already in your phone Push and hold a blank area on a homescreen, choose widgets, and they're in there.

Yes they are there, but totally impractical...that's the only play I'd say sense is really lacking functionality, I think notification toggle is the best option... For exactly what op is looking for...

Lacking functionality? Lets see...settings, mobile data on/off, wifi on/off, auto sync, roaming on/off, brightness control, GPS on/off, bluetooth on/off...the only thing missing is flashlight. Not what I would call "lacking functionality".
OP: to force close an app, double tap the home button to bring up all your open apps. Simply swipe the app you want to close, and it will.

I'm using power toggles from the Play store, because it allows one to have the toggles on the notification bar. The built in ones have to be on the desktop screen as widgets, which doesn't help when one is inside an app and needs to toggle something.
Yeah, I ended up getting Power Toggles, I like it more and it works great.

Here is how to save space using optimization of the soft buttons!

So I ordered now LG G2 32GB (950USD in Israel, I know its expensive but well... thats what it is and I wanted a device with large screen, powerfull multi tasking and something that I wont have to replace in 1 year but at least in 2 years, super power little computer for all my internet, emails, mult tasking, office things...), I could choose Z Ultra, S4, Optimus G Pro but took G2 as most people online voted for this one and I heard them plus I liked the way this device looks from all photos I watched and I liked it's longer life per each charge versus others (from reviews i was reading).
Now something I feel bothered with, I see on youtube that this soft menu buttons stays even in games, pretty much anywhere...
So following my study, how to make the LG G2 perfect in terms of screen space utilization and avoid loosing so much space due to the soft buttons (your own risk):
1) Root your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45692679#post45692679
2) Auto Hide soft keys: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys&hl=en
3) Use the auto hide function of the soft keys and enjoy from the footer menu when you need it without it always be there OR dont use the footer menu at all and enjoy from Pie Menu style using LMT launcher: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/23/lmt-launcher-brings-pie-goodness-without-the-custom-rom/

Thanks!
Does the app allow you to reduce the size of the navigation bar? I'd like to make it slightly smaller. If not, does anyone know of an app or method that does allow this?
Thanks
The international version has the auto hide function built in through an update. Verizon is probably just being a hard case and holding the update for their G2s.

WHATTTTT!!?!?! Seriously?!?! That would be sick!
Please elaborate and provide screenshot of these settings!
Thank you!
Basically, you select the apps that you want it hidden when in use. It should've been a default feature but I'll take the OTA if it's a quick fix. Not sure if it's like auto-hide key app where you can swipe up. I think it's more permanent (hidden or visible) with no middle ground.

So I tried it out, and you can adjust the size with the auto hide bar, but not the static (default) navigation bar. I kind of like the auto hide and may keep it, but if I can find a way to just reduce the height of the stock bar I may prefer that.

By the way I spoke to the LG MOBILE department in USA about the auto hide feature. this is the official response:
I definitely understand some of the suggestions you have made. I will pass this along the departments that manage software and development. Thanks again for your insight ^FC
I vote for some pie app or custom rom with builtin pie.
You can set it on bottom or side of screen or both. Revolution of big screen and one hand use! I allso bought that gmd autohide softkeys app but nevergoing back.
Customrom, fullscreen mode and pie control!
Best thing since 1st android!

[Q] Are there any ways to change the home button launch circle shortcuts...

When you press and hold the home button and move your finger up, you get a menu of voice, google and quick memo. Is there any way to change these to voice search, google now, and let's say the camera? I have looked through the settings but could not find it. Thanks! :good:
Edit: Something that addresses these shortcuts: http://imgur.com/rnLMI73

The only way to do this is to be rooted, install Xposed and use the G3 Tweakbox. It has an option to have up to 5 app shortcuts in the circle launcher and works great. I use it all the time.

This doesn't change those shortcuts, however, this works just like PIE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
i've been using it on the last 2 phones (S3 and G3) and they work great. Can set up to 20 different shortcuts as well as actions. Would recommend using 2.0 for the G3 as it is the latest, and works great with my LG G3

2nd screen/widgets?

Does the V10 allow you to put a widget on the second screen? It suddenly occurred to me that if I were able to put a zooper widget there then the second screen would be only limited by my imagination...
As far as I can tell, the answer is no.
I wanted to put a flashlight widget on there, and there is no option to put widget.
There is a flashlight option there when main screen is asleep, but when you have it unlocked, its a different set of options.

Thanks for the feedback. Probably not a deal breaker for me, was just curious.
I am surprised there is a lack of customization for this screen. Coming from the note 4 edge, I was used to limited options but with a least a solid set of choices for configuration. Hopefully this will be expanded for my V10
Those hoping for root/custom roms probably have high hopes for unlimited possibilities in regards to the second screen.
I am not looking for root. But I'd like to see what if anything gets added and or changed when LG rolls out the 6.0 update for our pretty little devices. I haven't even played with mine yet its waiting for me to get home from school today. UPS hid it well I hope.

When the main screen is on there is a flashlight in the notification bar when you pull out down. Put the down arrow key in the home touch button section and you have as many steps to the flashlight as you would if you could put a widget in the second screen.

Yeah I am aware of that selection. I just don't care for the chunky look of it.
But thank you for pointing it out nonetheless.
I'd really like to see the whole notification pull down revamped into something slimmer.

So because you don't like the look you won't use the feature?
I had the G3 and LG skipped the notification flashlight in the Lollipop update. It was the first thing I checked for on the V10. I guess I'm not really picky about how it looks as long as I have the feature that doesn't require extra apps.

Agreed. The flashlight in the pulldown is very nice, and having a quick access when the screen is off (second screen) is even better. Coming from the G3 as well. Very useful.

Nope, think you misunderstand or read way too much into my comment. I of course will use the ability that is there. I'd prefer it to be available on the 2nd screen, and I don't care for the look or of the notification pulldown.
I'd say that area is the least attractive part of the whole phone. Of course, that is not going to make me not use the phone either.

It is on the second screen. When the main screen is off you slide from right to left and the flashlight widget is there. Doesn't make sense to have it also on the second screen when the main screen is on since it's in the notification pull down.
Sorry for the misinterpration.
Of all the Android skins I like LG's the best. I've had pretty much all manufacturers.
Of course I would love to have Android exactly the way Google designed it but I haven't seen any device that I like with pure Android.

Just received my LG V10 and loving it so far but wondering if someone can tell me how to take screenshots. Thanks.
Power and volume down at the same time, I believe.
Yes, that works. Or goto settings, display, home buttons, and set one of them for capture+. Now, on bottom of screen you can just press the square with a pen, screenshot.

You can also add a "capture" button to your bottom on screen buttons as well.
Like so...
You can also add capture as a toggle up top. In the drop down
Weird, I am missing that capture+ button in the home buttons menu.
Is it linked to an application?
I read somewhere that it is part of the quickmemo+ app.
Someone else was missing the button and after installing quickmemo+ it showed up. Part of the LG apps.
Sent from my pretty nifty brand new LG V10
You have to add quickmemo to the toggles. And at some point it changed its self to capture . I had the same issue after rooting..
