Help i want to downgrade - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys! I want to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.2 . Can you help me? I don t want to mess anything up
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app

You will need a backup of your efs at version 1, search and read for the many who have ended up with no signal.
Downgrading from 4.3 isn't recommended.

Ok. Thank you! Can you recommend a fast 4.3 rom?

There are many roms available such as cm etc.. Don't worry you'll not brick your device as long as you follow the given instructions..

This.
Also, you should make a backup of your EFS, just in case. It contains very valuable information of your device such as IMEI and other stuff, and it's not recoverable without a proper Backup or Sammy's help in the rare event that it gets screwed. Look for a piece of software called EFS PRO on this forum. I'd like to give you the proper url, but I'm kind of busy in a crappy PC at work.
And make sure you use a i9300 compatible ROM, just wanted to make it clear because I've seen people with variants (like US) trying to flash a i9300 ROM and get it pretty messy.
Stock ROMs are fairly easy for starters.
Good luck!.-
PS: When using ODIN make sure that you don't have Re-Partition selected. I repeat, it must be NOT CHECKED. Or you'll be DOOMED.-
Hi
Why don’t you try with Omega first.
There's a flashing guide in post #4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656
Personal I prefer AOSP ROMs with MIUI.
Good luck
Edit: just make sure you do a nandroid backup. Always good to have a backup to go back to if things don't go as hoped. Have saved me many times.

Does anyone have solutions for "error restore / data" when restore by CWM?
I notice that my backup is quite big. Its more than 3 Gb.

Your backup could be damaged. I had this problem once with my Galaxy S, so I couldn't use my backup and had to install all apps manually...

OK, this has been said a few times, titanium backup is only good to use on the same base rom... Going from ICS to JB rom means there are going to be lots of FC's and other problems... Its like installing a mac os on a windows PC... Not gonna work.... You are trying to force JB to use ICS file structure and it doesn't like it...

You won't be able to take any updates until you flash a stock recovery on the phone... just letting you know so you don't screw up and try to take OTA with custom recovery.

Hi samorgs,
I've searched, but not getting this firmware I9300XXEMC2 for 4.3 version. If i flash a different version there is possibility of bricking it right? Sorry for this noobish question, i'm new to this.
Regards,
Ravi.
You can flash pretty much any version of the firmware but it must be for the GT I9300 only. Not any other variation like the I9305 or the ones that are made for the the startes. Like Verizon or AT n T most likely you will brick your and phone.
Ravi this is the link to the XDA page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323847
I strongly suggest you read this and Google search the way to unroot it.
This is an application on the play store that takes you directly to Sam mobile that gives you all the official firmware. India is linked under two id INU & INS. I have the file it I'd 800 mb so so watch out of your using your mobile data plan.
Hope this helps Best of luck.

Hi Rudy83,
It is resolved now. I downloaded One click Odin, then did a master clearhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989. This procedure took around 30 mins. While this was progressing nothing was showing in the progress window, so waited for 30 mins & then unplugged the USB, then the progress bar started to fill up & then the message reflected RESET successfull! Then flashed the zip which is found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639746 & then reflashed the firmware. It solved the problem. Status in the phone settings shows NORMAL not as MODIFIED.
Not sure how it happened but it happened. Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Ravi.
hey thats great to hear that you were able yto resolve it.

Need advice on upgrading a ROM on the TF201

Hello I am currently running Baked Bean Rom 8 Android 4.2.2, I would like to upgrade to CyanogenMod 11 / Android 4.4.2, can anyone please give me some adviceon things that I should do Before I Flash the new Rom,
so that I wont brick my TF201, I appreciate it and Thank You.
First thing, make sure you go through with the flatline/nvflash steps. This will save you from any possible brick (outside of dropping your tablet off the roof of the empire state building...)

Thank you kokopuphz , do you happen to have any useful links to do the flatline / nvflash ?
