[Q] [Help] Sony Xperia Tablet Z SGP321 LTE und WIFI build 10.5.A.0.230 root - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I need some help to root my Sony Xperia Tablet Z SGP 321. It is not the first device I have rooted but.....all the other devices where not as complicated as the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. I am currently running build 10.5.A.0.230 and the bootloader is still locked. I have got the bootloader key and followed the instruction but it gives me constantly error messages that it can not connect or wrong adress. Doomlord kit I can't get to run.
Maybe someone can help me and give me a step by step instruction for it is very confusing and I am getting pretty frustrated.
Thanks in advance

No, custom roms require an unlocked bootloader, unless they're using the stock Sony kernel.
As for rooting: google towelroot, one click root, no Pc needed and made by the one and only Geohot!

This still doesn't help on ppl who can't unlock it. Don't get me wrong, I just don't want to unlock it. I'm waiting for a solution like the X10 had (with "bypassing" a kernel and so. I still have a .apk file from Z which gives a recovery0.2 but that's not CWM ofc)
Does you tray CWM installer from Xperia S developement forum?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756346
I didn't try it because I'm not sure is it compatible with Xperia P devices...
I post a question in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841613 thread where I asked for CWM files. We can them easily past in wright directories as we have root rights now

I tried it, it does not work.
I have a SIM-locked phone, CWM would be essential.
Strange, I try to root my phone and stuck after step2.bat - phone not boot (stuck on fluid xperia screen)!

you can do a full wipe :
call *#*#7378423#*#*
Customisation Setting → reset customisation
or
fastboot.exe -w
or
use pc companion to repair device (this will also lead to full reset of the device)

You can do a full wipe by manual. There is an option to do that on Setting.

[Q] Rooting the xperia ray

Hi guys, sorry to add more threads but I seem to have come to a dead end in my pursuit of rooting my sony ericsson xperia ray.
Basically I have flashed .42 firmware after reading many threads saying it works the best with the zergrush doomlord root exploit. I had followed the screens shown from this method trying to run the file and it said at the end that the process had been successful but after looking into a bit more it became apparent that i did not have root access. I'm only speculating but would it help to flash a different kernel if so which? any help would be very much appreciated.
If it helps i have a locked bootloader, running andriod version 2.3.4 with a kernel of " 2.6.3.32.9-perf [email protected]#1, and a build nunber of 4.0.2.a.0.42.

You cannot flash custom kernels just with rooting. Your bootloader must be unlocked and then u can flash any kernel made for ur device. Moreover on an unlocked bootloader, if u flash a pre-rooted kernel, then u can easily get the root access....
Press THANKS if I helped,
AJ

Try to root again with flashtool and if it's not working post the log here
Afterwards download root checker from playstore to be sure it's fine :good:

I think you can root the tablet if you unlock the bootloader. If you want root currently on the 253 version, you can unlock the bootloader and install cwm recovery. I have not done so, maybe someone else can confirm.

Confirmed.
Unlock bootloader.
Flash DooMLoRDs CWM Recovery and boot into recovery an you'll get root as a side effect. Make sure you flash a Superuser zip....
I just read abut it this morning and am contemplating unlocking, the only thing stopping me is the loss of bravia engine after unlocking with no way to get it back. Im not bothered about the warranty.

you and many others (me for example.) seems like many of devs havent got sgp321 in hand so they're more focused in sgp311 and312. I've mentioned before there is paradox for sgp321.
# You can backup Ta partition for bravia engine 2 and drm keys.
# But you cant do that without root.
# You cant Root (yet) without unlocking bootloader.
# With bootloader unlocked you'll lost DRM key and BA2 forever. (you cant flash others TA partition you'll hard brick the device).
I've asked a question in QA if the mods can make three subforums for SGP 321,311 and 312 so that people wont flash wrong tft or try flashing wrong firmware in wrong device as every Model is reffered to Xperia Z ( I almost flashed xperia Z phone's firmware to SGP 321) its just disaster waiting to happen.
The naming convention used by sony itself is a bit strange when i try to google xperia tablet z related stuff i get xperia z stuff same with youtube. its tough finding guides. In terms of marketing it seems like an odd choice too. Xperia z and xperia tablet z can be confusing for daily consumers despite one being a phone and another a tab

well actually there is but from xperia z smartphone (it was 10.1.A.1.434 before came update to 10.1.1.A.1.253 ). Furthermore smartphone has the same hardware as tablet (Wifi+LTE), the difference seems to be only in screen size, and camera. So if you take the risk you can downgrade to .434, get root and the update to .253.

How to install kitkat from Stock ROM

Hi,
I'm trying to understand what are the steps I have to follow to get a custom recovery on my Sony Xperia U but I'm loosing in tons of threads... I understood that I have to unlock the bootloader, root, install recovery and flash zips but I can't figure out a unique way to do it. Also, it seems that Xperia U is similar to other sony devices, but it isn't always clear if one thing is applicable also to xperia U.
Could you link me some threads to follow?
Thank you

How to root Sony Xperia C4 and possibly other devices

I tried now rooting this model for a long time, I finally found a way of doing it.
1: Install Kingo root app from here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwOSXw-lPe-mZWxPQ0lXc3pqcnc/view?usp=docslist_api and run it (it will fail to root).
2: UNINSTALL Kingo app.
3: Now install kingroot app from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=17287 and run it.

YOU WILL LOSE YOU WARRENTY BY DOING THIS

After this you probably want to install Supersu and remove kingroot
Just download this app from here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...l1JRAN8IZNkFinqvQ&sig2=kFJEvANWx8_lrBM7N9MnCA and follow the instructions.

You're welcome!
I recommend replacing kingroot with Supersu because some people find it a little shady, also it runs in the background all the time which could potentially reduce battery life

I have sony c4 dual E5333 witn android 6.0.1. When I type in code *#*#7378423#*#* and go to root in the menu, it says my bootloader can't be unlocked so I cannot root the phone. Is there any file I can flash to overwrite the bootloader and flash new rom then. Nothing works. The all say unlock code is useless if the the bootloader can't be unlocked, I have tried it and it says the bootloader cannot be unlocked using flashtool. Can anyone help me get around this. The upgrade to 6.0.1 has messed with my gsm settings which means I cannot receive mms at all anymore.
Using sony companion to repair the software bricked my phone so it had to be sent to sony to reload the software and still I cannot receive mms.
Cant downgrade the software either.
Can anyone tell me how do I get around this bootloader that cant be unlocked please or how do I override/overwrite the boatloader to unlock it??
