[Q] bricked galaxy s2 usb jig issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i recently bricked my galaxy s2. i assume hard-bricked because it wont even go into download mode. now i read about a USB jig, i plan to make my own, only problem is, after tearin apart about 5 micro USB cords, there is only 4 solder points, were as the guide for making your own jig says u need to solder the resistors in a circuit and solder them to the 4th and 5th solder points, will a 4 solder point one work? if so, were do i solder the points at? i included a photo of what all my micro usb cables look like after ive torn them apart, any help is appreciated

[Q] How to install new usb port?

Well i ordered a new usb port because my old one is broken so i was wondering how to install a new one can anyone make a video to show mw how to
Here is how to disassemble. Taking out the the usb or any other solder joint in the phone requires a micro soldering tipped gun and installing you will need very thing solder
It is not hard to do just don't drink coffee before trying to solder the caffine shakes will make it impossible...... need very steady hands and a magnifying glass or glasses that are 3x or better

can i use my micro usb cable to make a usb jig?

Hi, i need to return my phone to T-Mobile (UK) and i wanted to get it back to stock rom.
I've downloaded the Boke3 kernel and firmwire, so should be sorted in getting it back to stock kernel and stock rom (i think).
The only problem i have is the binary counter and resetting it.
Can i use the micro usb cable that came with the box to make the usb jig???
Just cut the micro usb bit off, and then reveal the 4/5 pins and add the 301k resistor.
Is that possible, please i need to know i have T-Mobile coming in the morning to pick up the handset to do a full kit replacement. (Morning is in 4 hours, HELP!!)
Yes u can.
There is a whole thread about it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Yep. just read the guide and attach the resistor accordingly
gl hf!
Hi mate - thought id post as i had to do this the other day..
I cut the plug off a micro USB, revealed pins 4 and 5, then held a 300k resistor to them, and that worked absolutely fine - it doesnt need to be 301k.
If you want something more permanent then Id suggest soldering though.
Good luck!

Arghhh USB JIG has 3 pins :s

Hi, so i have made the jig well sort of.
I sliced open a micro usb cable that i had, and well i can not for the life of me find the 4/5 pins, i actually do not think my micro usb has them. :/
I have attached photos, if someone could please take a look and let me know what i should be doing, whether to get rid of the small green circuit board (and how) or if this is the incorrect micro usb cable.
I need it reset in the next 6 hours, T-Mobile arriving in the morning to take my old S2 and give me a full kit replacement.
HELP PLEASE
Thank You
Dint u say the same thing yesterday. how many times are they going to come and raid ur house ???

usb/charging port

has anyone gone through issues with their usb port? this is going to be my third time fixing it, if i even fix it at all. buying boards just for the usb is pretty frustrating since i usually havre to buy a complete phone for it. i actually have just the usb ports themselves but it didnt work out too well the first time. very small soldering. anyone else had theirs go bad more than once?
micro usb port fix
yes, it takes insane soldering skills to fix one. but instead of buying a phone just for the port you can get a replacement micro usb port on ebay for a few bucks. once you solder the new one on you can coat the pins on the board with a hot glue gun or any other solid adhesive for strength. once the job is done try to remember phone ports are delicate and should be handled with care and you wont have a problem again.

USB connector type?

Hello
Can someone tell me the exact type of USB connector is on the Samsung Galaxy View. Then manual only says
it's a USB connector V2.
I've ordered the device but have not received it yet. But trying to determine if the connector is USB v2 or micro USB connector?
Want to plug in an ethernet adapter.
Thanks in advance
JRS
The port is micro-USB (not to be confused with mini-USB). Although most stores don't mention it, most reviews do. The Gizmodo review even has a close-up picture: https://gizmodo.com/samsung-galaxy-view-review-i-love-this-magical-slab-of-1740835366
i would recommend grabbing a micro usb "cable" OTA adapter - you can utilize it for all usb storage, upgrades, etc, etc.... they make a hard snap in adapter but use caution on them as for as easy as they snap in , they also snap out breaking your port with it. The cable adapters are way more flexible and with the tablet being so large in the first place it really doesn't make a difference if it's dangling on the side.
