[Xposed][MOD][16SEP'14] Less frequent notifications (per app notification throttling) - Xposed Framework Modules

Switching from PAC-Rom to CM11, I was missing the 'less frequent notifications' feature.
When you have some chat app (like whatsapp) that make vibrate/sound/both on any incoming message, and someone sends you like 10 messages in a row it can be very annoying
What this feature does is limit the number of times an app (single-app) can make a notification.
You define a time-frame, and any extra notification within this time-frame (=annoying notification) will be stripped down from its sound/vibrate/both data (but will be shown).
So, It's done!

Thanks for feedback :good:
That is a button to test the module after a restart. I should clarify that..
So just enable the module, set your preferences, and reboot.
Than you can test it manually by clicking this button

What should happen is that only first click on 'test notification' should trigger sound+vibrate. All subsequent clicks within the X seconds time frame should not trigger sind/vibrate..
Are you saying that no notification at all triggered sound?
@shadowcreeper_1

Just so you know, it's working perfectly here. Awesome module.

On first reboot after installing I got a few system server crashes. It then booted and it seems to work just fine (with the Test Notifications button). Thanks! LG G2 stock 4.4.2

Brilliant. Works fine. I'm actually using gravitybox to control notifications for my apps and it has a function to limit amount of notifications but the least amount of time is one minute which is too much. This one, with five seconds, is great. Now you just need to make it have per-app settings

THANK YOU!!!!!!! The amount of times I get 5-6 messages in a row from Whatsapp and it was so annoying.

Please upload it at Xposed repo.

i tested the module on PA 4.5 beta 3, nexus 5, setting the 30 seconds interval. i tried with the notification test button, and it works. Then i tried with hangouts but i get a first notification, then no sound, even after 1+ minutes.
EDIT: i can get a new notification only if i read the previous
A question: the timer starts from the first notification or it restarts on every notification?

What I think happens that some apps re-notify every Z seconds without sound/vibration.
Thanks for pointing that out as this has led me to improve behavior and save the notification
time only when it has sound/vibration.
New version on op and on exposed repo

I'm getting a package name error on xposed

Awesome, but package name is incorrect .

Not sure if this is fixed in the latest version but when I tried it out initially it seemed like sometimes it would cut notifications short? Like I have an app that vibrate for 250 ms then a little pause then 250 ms again.. It would be cut short and there hard to hear. Is it just me?

@ofmb: I've hidden the module on Xposed, can't change the the package name. You could just create it with correct one

Change the default screen timeout! Keep On Keeping On keeps your screen on!
The default screen timeout interval on Android Wear is too short!
Having such a short timeout makes it difficult to perform tasks that require pauses or to demonstrate features for an audience.
Using KOKO (Keep On Keeping On) you can keep your screen on longer!
Choose from many timeout options ranging from 5 seconds to 2 hours. Or keep your screen on indefinitely!
Please allow a few minutes for the app to be installed on the wearable after installing to mobile device.
Please be aware that setting a long screen off time will affect your battery life.
Now use wrist gestures in KOKO to select your screen timeout without touching your watch!!!!
Feel free to message us with requests for timeout intervals if you can't find one that works for you.
Thanks for trying it out and any feedback you may have.
I thought payed apps are allowed here ONLY, if also a free Version is pushed!
Free version coming soon for XDA, sorry for the delay. Created post on mobile and will update when I get to desktop.
Thread re-opened.
Again, sorry for the delay in getting the free version up. But it's there (OP) now. Please leave feedback if you find any issues.

Alright, I think I fixed it. 5.1.1 required a new library that was previously missing. Please let me know if v1.3 works for you.

Okie dokie, I'll look into that. They work on the emulator so I may have to wait until I get 5.1.1 on my Moto360 to diagnose it. Maybe the default timeout was increased in 5.1.1?

I don't really think so because I think that's what it always was for me even on 4.4 and 5.0, I think 30s always the default, that's why I was hoping your app would let me decrease that time.
That is long for default. On my Moto is was like 4 seconds, that's why I made this app. I don't really want the app to force screen off, just keep it on. Maybe it's a build.prop setting? Are you rooted? Running a custom ROM? I'm neither.
EDIT: I see you are indeed rooted by your sig, maybe it's something in your ROM?

I just have root and a custom kernel, didn't modify anything in the ROM, and I did keep the watch not rooted for a long time and that's just the screen on time I always had by default, I can't see anything in build.prop that I could modify to lower the screen on time, I also used some other apps from Play Store on older android versions to do that but they have not been updated in a long time and thus don't work anymore. I was hoping your app would allow me to do that but I understand if you don't want to give that option, I will learn java in my next year of college so I might try to make my own app to do that afterwards, thank you for your work anyway, it's good to have it for those that want longer screen on time.
I was thinking off how to implement the screen off, how to know when the users not still interacting? Maybe a transparent overlay on the entire screen that listens for touches and after each touch resets a timer that when reaches its end turns off the screen? But this would require the DRAW OVER APPS permission and a Service to add the overlay to WindowManager. If I get some time I'll see if I can slap a demo together.

[XPOSED][MOD][FIX][6.0] Volume Slider Delay Fix v1.0.1

Hi everyone.
Ever since my phone got Android 6 update I've noticied an wired behaviour regarding volume slider: it simply won't go away. And I'm not alone... just google it and see.
So if you are in the same boat, give this module a try and leave a feedback
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS MODULE?
This module fixes Marshmallow's volume dialog excessive delay on closing. See the post #4 for screenshots.

Changelog
v1.0.1 - 2016-02-12
Initial public version
Technical details
Original file: VolumeDialog.java
Original method: computeTimeoutH
Proposed change type: method replacement
Original source code:
CM13: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...com/android/systemui/volume/VolumeDialog.java
AOSP: https://android.googlesource.com/pl...com/android/systemui/volume/VolumeDialog.java
The original method as it is:
Code:
private int computeTimeoutH() {
if (mAccessibility.mFeedbackEnabled) return 20000;
if (mSafetyWarning != null) return 5000;
if (mExpanded || mExpandButtonAnimationRunning) return 5000;
if (mActiveStream == AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC) return 1500;
return 3000;
}
Now, look at the following line within original method:
if (mAccessibility.mFeedbackEnabled) return 20000;
Very suspicious, isn't it? If something related to accessibility is turned on then timeout is set to 20000 ms (20 seconds). We've found the culprit for the delay
So my proposed change is simple as that:
Code:
private int computeTimeoutH() {
return 1500;
}
Why 1500?
Because it's the lowest value Android has been using at original method.
And that's it

This happens on Moto X2 (and probably the newer models too) running Android 6.
How many seconds does it take to yours to disappears after you increase/decrease volume by using hardware buttons?

~3,5s from pressing the button
What timeout does your module set? Configurable?
Edit: 1500ms as I see on Github. Still a tad long imho. Consider adding a UI?

Huum, Maybe this bug affects only Moto's on Android 6.
Without this fix the delay is set to 20 seconds!
It's something to do with Accessibility options.

Same time for volume panel here, Stock 6.0 Moto X Play.
Also getting "incorrect package" error.
I have a Nexus 6P with Marshmallow 6.01. The delay is 20 seconds before the audio panel disappears. This occurs even though I have GravityBox installed and set the timeout to 5 seconds or less (setting under Media Tweaks).
UPDATE: The following problem has been fixed by the developer!
I also get the message that the "Package name is incorrect" when I attempt to download using Xposed (version 80). Therefore, I haven't been able to test your module yet. Looking forward to trying, though!

Hi, great module!
A good addition would be the option to change ugly kitkat navbar buttons to the new Marshmallow ones (this problem exists on several devices)
Keep it up!

OnePlus3 Slider Mod
Mute - Vibrate - Loud
Hello,
this is my latest Xposed module for the OnePlus 3.
It changes the behavior of the OnePlus3 slider to
mute
vibrate
loud
instead of the normal do not disturb/priority/zen mode.
It also removes the popup and replaces the dnd icons in statusbar
In order for this to work correctly you need to go to your settings and
allow calls and messages from everyone in the priority settings.
This module has been tested on OnePlus3 with OxygenOS
Download from Xposed repo
[QRCODE]http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.chrisxe.xposed.op3slider[/QRCODE]
Thanks for this mod! I really need it!
However, it has two bugs I've found.
First one is a visual bug. When in vibrate mode, it shows two icons.
Then, when turn the slider down to normal mode, the sound is always low, even if it was loud when changing to vibrate.
Thanks. Installed and experienced the two vibration icon too. Hope next version will fix it.
Sorry for the two vibrate icons. i hid mine before with another module so i forgot about it..
should be fixed now.
@mrasquinho do you mean ringer or media volume?

Hey, thats nice thanks. I created an app with is doing the same (via Tasker).
There are many users already (at least it looks like, the Thread in the offical Oneplus Forum is growing -> alert slider: ring-vibrate-silent is the title, can't post links yet)
Anyway im at the end of what i can do with tasker now (other customization)
Would you like to work together in order to customize the alert slider even more?
If so, can you tell me what your app is doing exactly, and why xposed is needed?
Thanks!
Weathon
Just installed this module and there are still 2 vibrate icons @MythosXe,You mentioned its fixed?
Hello I've installed this mod and it is working fine ...
There are 2 parts to this
1. (feature request)
Just one question... Can the order be reversed? Top position - all ; middle position - vibrate ; bottom position - mute?
Can this be done?
2. (bug identified)
When the slider is set "NORMAL" mode the volume is decreased and we must manually increase it again can you fix this bug..?

what rom / version are you on? do you have the oneplus 3?
you can try the attached version if it works for you, just install it over your old one
(different approach to remove the second vibrate icon, if this one also fails for you, i might have another one)
about ringer volume:
i'll take a look soon, dont have much time atm, sry
@coolguynothot
yeah can be done. i might add some more settings in later versions
Any plans to support CM13?
Looks cool. Do you plan on releasing the source code? :good:
Hi, I remember you from alarmclock+ mod. Confirmed working (0.2 on OOS 3.2.2) with no bugs whatsoever. If I may ask for a request - could you reset the order of the slider in the same module? The top position being normal, mid stays vibrate, and the lowest becomes mute? That would be more logical, this is tingling my OCD.
Works well on my OP3 OxygenOS 3.2.2, icons display perfect, one for each position !
Can you please look at the bug of the low ringer?
Otherwise, it's unusable for me...

Have you seen the bug we talked? The one which puts ringer volume low when changing from mute/vibrate to loud?
Thanks

Emui 9.1 Notification Issue

Hi guys, after i updated to emui 9.1 I have some notification issues. To be more precise I noticed that my WhatsApp's messages previews that always showed in notifications line, now is gone. I can see the number of chats with new messages but I can't preview them anymore. I also noticed that this is an effect from app lock. If I unblock WhatsApp and leave it open in the background then I can see previews again. But when I have it blocked with app lock, I have first to unblock with password to see previews. Anyone else noticed it? Any solution for this? I want to see message previews no matter how and no matter if the app is locked or not.. it was like that on emui 9.0 and o was doing fine.
I have the same problem.

It has to be done by adb on your computer
Click recent apps, swipe down your Whatsapp to lock it in background, no need adb or special trick
If you want to disable Power Genie

I have noticed this issue and it is so damn annoying
Did you find any solution to this?
Did you've tried to set the Autostart etc. to manual?
Settings - Akku - App Start - Whatsapp
Manuell for every 3 Things (Auto-Start, Second Start, Background)
I've done this for every App I need to get push-notifications and got no more problems with delivered notifications.
Does anybody has the Same Problem Like me . Since i Updated to 9.1 the notifications shows Eversthing in Lockscreen.
In 9.0 i get an notification on Lockscreen that was inviseblity . Mean First i have to unlock my Phone by Facescan then the notification Show it full.
Is this Feature disabled since 9.1 or does i need to activate it ?
Most people are not reading what is posted !!!
The contents of the WhatsApp messages is gone in notification after upgrading to 9.1.
Notifications work fine, but you cannot see from who are what message you expect to see when you are about to click on the notification. There is just an indication of how many messages you have received.

Don't have this issue at all. I see the message just by swipe down notification bar. Did you check notifications on WhatsApp? (setting, app, WhatsApp, notification). It look like it's just the way to see the message : in place of click notification you have just to swipe down notifications panel and see the whole message.
I think they've changed how notifications are "grouped".
If you get one WhatsApp notification, you still see the message in the pull down notification panel.
If you get more than one WhatsApp notification, it shows you "x number of messages"

Also with one message I see no content.
I enabled the Popup in WhatsApp setting , waiting for a message to see if it changes.
Hi, i'm still having problem with notifications in WIFI connection only.
Currently i'm using GCM FIX(blue color icon) in playstore and set heartbeat to 1 minute and disable powergenie to have normal push notification.
But, if i don't use that, i got delay every 4 minutes notifications.
I'm just curious and if you guys can help me to send your FCM DIAGNOSTICS screenshot by dialing *#*#426#*#* (i really want to know if only me to experienced this or not just me)
the example of mine below, it's always shows Err:28 Time:xx every 4 minutes, this is not normal.
I also had the same issue, a simple restart fixed the issue for me, hope it does for you too.
Bumping this thread because my notifications do not have content previews anymore after the update to 9.1. I have tried the tips in exception for disabling power genie, what are the repercussions to doing this?
One observation I have is if app lock is on for the apps in question then then preview will not display even if the phone is unlocked. If the app itself is unlocked then notification previews work fine. I don't believe I had this issue with EMUI 9.0.
I have the exact same issue, it's not only WhatsApp but all the apps I use AppLock for. If the app is not locked I see them fine. If the app is locked, not only that I don't see the content but I cannot swipe it to dismiss it either...
It has nothing to do with killing the app in the background, since I DO get the notification but the content is blocked.
I'm having the same issue. Since upgrading to EMUI 9.1 last night, I can no longer see notification previews (e.g. WhatsApp). It just says WhatsApp and you can't expand the notification or see the preview like before. It's the same for other apps. It did briefly work but stopped ... I've tinkered with all the settings and restarted numerous times....I still have the issue.
Anyone else seeing this issue? Can anyone share a fix?

Thank you! So Huawei have changed the way App Lock protected apps display their notification. I guess what they've done makes sense from a security point of view...if you've chosen to lock the app then why should the phone display full previews with people being able to see what's in the secured app without passing validation....but I miss previewing WhatsApp haha
