Which android mini PC into bus - Android Stick & Console AllWinner based Computers

Hi,
currently my company is developing a multimedia solution for buses.
We want to stream ads, weather info and news to the TV places in the bus.
The idea is to write an Android application that will have layout showing 3 parts - one for each of the above mentioned kind of information.
This application should run on an Android device connected to the TV via HDMI.
The video (ads) will be streamed from local storage (NAS), the news and weather from some internet sources.
Ideally, the Android device should be connected to the NAS via WiFi, so no extra cables must be installed in the bus.
The other criteria is that the device should be cheap (under $100) and ideally also small.
So far, I thought about choosing one of the following devices:
MK802IV - rikomagic
MK908II - Tronsmart
MeLE M8 - MeLE
Which device would you recommend with respect to the requirements we have?

[Q] Open alternative to All Share Play hub?

I like the idea of the All Share Play hub, streaming movies direct to my tv this way via wifi would be worth doing (unlike MHL to HDMI which in addition to the tv and phone requires THREE additional components to be connected, including power adaptor).
What I don't like about it is the proprietory nature of it, and the fact that I have no guarantee it will be compatible with my next phone - especially if that phone isn't a Samsung.
This is a new area of interest for me, so excuse my ignorance, but is there not an open standards type of device that can do this, which will allow me to use any phone with it?
Bump.
While I doubt it's as easy to use (AllShare is specifically geared for sharing media AFAIK - I removed it from my phone so I don't really know what it's like), Samba Filesharing will turn your phone into a SMB server (possible alternative: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codesector.droidnas). Samba is GPLed, so on the openness front you're covered. I'm not sure what kind of speeds you would get, though, so try the app (it's free) and mount the share on a GNU/Linux computer and see if it works well for you if you're interested. There's a bit of a shift in the way it works: with AllShare, I believe, you initiate the streaming from your phone. With Samba, you share a folder but have to navigate to it from whatever device it is you're attempting to stream to.
Assuming that you are, if you have a hacked Samsung TV, you can then mount the Samba share from it and start browsing. If not, you can buy small Android devices that plug into your TV for cheap prices - and there are, of course, ways to mount a Samba share on an Android device (along with a WIP port of XBMC, which features SMB browsing anyway).

I was high on something. Look into DLNA and using your phone as UPnP Media Server.

I'm turning an S3 into home multimedia center/DLNA device, help please

Ok I have a spare S3 which i'm not going to use, so i plan to plug it to a TV via HDMI and use it as a multimedia center.
So from what i can see I need 2 things.
1. good app to wirelessly sync files between PC, Tablet, Smartphone and the S3 (option to stream media from the PC would be great as well)
2. A program to remote control the S3 from my other android smartphone
any other advise for the setup is welcome
no suggestions whatsoever? :>
Final attempt to get some advises
i don#t know of any app that is able to handle both, but as a start you might look at xbmc, wich actually is a media center, also avaliable for android.
i'd give you links to sites where you can download it (it's still in beta), but i have not enough posts to do so. you should google XBMC android chip.de
or
xbmc android androidpit
or somtething like this.

[Q] (ASK) Life Smart TV JB ready for any experiment

Root and experiment to add other app
Hello, I bought new life smart TV from Aldi Germany, its Medion… I know well they are just name not Tech, here are the points
When i sync it with Nero it show on devices VestelTV.
Vestel as other used Android TV , but don’t know the ver. As I think it is now 4.1 JB
When I use adb it faild to connect for it as it need USB debug where I think it is disabled, bu no access for that of course via the tv menu
It used Opra SDK HTML5 as I searched on the web to connect server download movies and news etc.. but all are so agley so I like to have my own app on it or enable the mouse at least…
Well it is Andriod, so how to know which version… and how to access to root it to take out any hidden function, as medion did before they sold smart box, android 4.0 and they update it to 4.1 then many unction disappear… now they bring this box inside this TV to have same function but limited.
The TV had 2 USB, 4 HDMA and more AV input and RGB too as well Digi sound output and Triband Tuner,
Any idea to use any software or root it or to have access to intern of it will be appreciated as I am ready to do it doesn’t matter with warrantee…

USB TV Tuner with Digital Antenna (on the way)

Just ordered "MyGica A681 USB ATSC HDTV Tuner" and a "DuaFire Amplified Digital HDTV Antenna" from Amazon. According to Google's support side you simply "connect a USB tuner to your Android TV device." src- support.google.com/androidtv/answer/6285282?hl=en
Will report back on functionality.
Please do, this would be pretty amazing.
NO go
Didnt work, and I suspected it wouldn't from the start considering how unknown the brand of TV tuner I bought. Even when I hooked it up to my Win 8 machine it wouldn't work, thinking I could use a DVB server. HDHomerun here I come.

I can confirm this device DOES WORK on NP, however only app to work with it is PadTv HD or
hookup to pc as backend and using kodi pvr * if going kodi route live Tv is useless on wireless due to low download speeds, have not tested via wired
Just thinking out loud here,
These two tuners are specifically built for android:
D-Link DSM-T100 + App
pctv AndoroiDTV + App
Theres lots out there, as long as they say they support android i reckon its just a matter of grabbing the APK and sideloading it
Looks like you can hook them into a home antenna with a simple adapter.
Neither specifically state they support the nexus player, but they do support all the nexus phones and some tv's
really i am guessing whatever drivers they require are built into an app for them.
So really it would just be a matter of these app developers to support live channels and this would be a far cheaper option over something like a HDhomerun
I just use my Tablo 4 tuner box connected to my OTA antenna on the roof, works great. Live TV, guide and everything, and works perfectly on the Nexus Player. Kind of pricey, but more functional than just the HDHomerun boxes (which I've had several of over the years, they make great hardware). The Tablo boxes are a full OTA dvr, just add an external hard drive to it and go.
is there still support for this?
Here androidtv.news/2016/10/live-channels-updated-supports-usb-tuners-adds-dvr-capabilities/ says that now ATSC USB TV tuners are supported (TV signal for USA), at least 3 tested.
Anyone tried DVB usb tuner (europe)???????????

I've just tried the official Xbox one digital TV tuner and it wasn't detected. I'm not surprised but even Google couldn't give me a list of compatible USB tuners.
Does anyone know a custom kernel which includes the drivers for this?

HDMI vs. Internal Display in Android 5.0+

Hello all,
I was wondering if there is a workaround or an app to trick Android that you are on an internal display rather than connected to HDMI Port, similar with the "fake WI-FI" apps.
As a reason, I own a 5.1.1 Android Player, connected to a TV via HDMI, and when I try to use a paid movie streaming app, it is requesting to disconnect the external display. Similarly when I connect my Note 3 to a TV with MHL cable, same app is requesting to disconnect the external display. So it is working ONLY on internal displays, whether phone, tablet or SMART TV, which is a rude limitation for the payer, probably for copyright worries of the owner.
I would be very grateful if someone could point me a solution. The Android player manufacturer is stating that since Android 5.0 there is a signal regarding HDMI connection in Android system which triggers the app to block its usage, and I can confirm that on Android 4.4.4 there were no problems running the app on an external display (tested on another player running on 4.4.4).
Many thanks, in anticipate!
Enjoy!
