Camera crashes when switched to video - AOKP Q&A

I flashed the SOKP (Sonic open kang project) rom and the camera app keeps crashing when I switch to video recording, it works with Instagram, but not the default camera app. Any ideas how to resolve this?

[Q] My camera force closes. Anyone else have this on cm7 nightlies?

now that i have a nightly build I noticed my camera force crashes when I switch to video mode. Camera mode is just fine though.

Yeah I have this issue. There is a website somewhere that gives you things to try I.e. installing camcorder shortcut. It has never worked for me though. I ended up installing camera zoom fx and use that camera app instead.

Have you tried moving out ALL old video files (that were taken with the stock ROM camera) from the original folder?

[Q] video recording for Cyanogenmod 11

Hi all,
I install the custom rom, Cyanogenmod 11,
and I have trouble when video recording.
Using the default camera app, when I finish the recording, the app will crash and the video is broken also.
Same as the Google camera app.
Anyone can solve this?

Did you tried another camera app
Same problem with me, on CM11 I believe we have to keep the default camera app. It was working till it was there along with Google Camera, but once I removed the default camera app and went on Google camera as the only primary camera, it stopped recording videos.

1080p/60fps possible in MIUI 7?

So, i tried t he default camera app that comes with miui and noticed that there is no option to change fps. I downloaded open camera and recorded a video in 1080p/30fps and 1080p/60fps and didn't notice any difference. I know this phone can record in 60fps cause in custom roms (CM,RR) that run android 6.0.1 the default application recorded 60fps in 1080p and it looked wonderful. Is there an app other than open camera that does that?
Google Camera?

CM13 users, which camera app do you use for taking high-quality photos?

While the CM13 included camera app is relatively fast and great for quick-snap photos, I did manage to make some impressive photos while playing around on EMUI camera in Pro mode (before I flashed the phone), looking suprisingly good for such a low tier camera.
Since there's no manual mode in CM13, which camera app would you recommend to purchase/download(if free)?
Also, is the HDR bug guaranteed to occur in every app?
Thanks in advance!
Snap Camera works great!
How do u get SnapCamera on CM? Can you just flash it or..

As far as I'm aware Honor 5x nightlies don't include the Snap camera yet. It ships with the legacy Camera, which takes mediocre pictures and can't do HDR or Panoramas.
Google Camera is available for Panoramas, but the accelerometer/gyroscope is very jittery on the phone, so the stitching doesn't do a good job.
I don't think this issue is gonna be resolved until Camera2 API is ported into our CM nightly.

I do think the same, it's about software, not a specific camera app
I tried putting the ro.camera2.prtabilty.force_api=1 in the default.prop file by splitting boot.img and reflashing boot.IMG, putting manual focus line in build.prop and then flashing the ported emui 4.0 camera with twrp... Still badluck as it says Unfortunately, camera has stopped working
Just use Cm marsh(cm based costom ROM ) comes with snap camera
Update
Now use it on any ROM
Camera App ported

I've found that, no matter what camera app I install, I can't get the same picture quality I used to get on the stock ROM. Is there a reason for this? The drivers, maybe?

I guess is the camera processing is different on stock ROM from custom ROMs
