Extract Samsung firmware - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I like to extract the Samsung firmware from S4, Note 3, ... and I need your help.:highfive:
So I've downloaded the firmware from Sammobile and like to extract the system.img.ext4 file, but it's like encrypted and I can't extract it:crying:
P.s I haven't got an problem with Linux

try out archikitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597220
with it you can create a flashable zip from the firmware files and from the zip you can extract everything you want.

You can also try using the magic ISO, it can also help you in extracting the .img file ! try using it and see if that works out for you !

You need to download CWM backup for your phone and ROM version from here

i want to change the rom kernel before installing it please tell me how to do it? i have a rom which has a very good kernel but i dont know how to put that in the new rom which im going to flash today please guide your help is appreciated

Open original rom with WinRAR or 7zip, overwrite the boot.img file with the kernel you want to add, flash the rom.

Thank you extracted md5 file then the file is deleted the hidden but how to compress file using the Toolkit

using the toolkit it has a option to compress all the files in a folder

Hi guys,
In new Nougat roms there isn't the file_context file needed to repack system.new.dat file. Now there is the "file_context.bin" file but i cannot find any tools that works with this new file format.
So how i can repack the nougat system.new.dat ?!

Also i wonder how cyanogen and other tems pack their rom. I hope devs can provide a tool for that.

Go to these thread. Use these tool to unpack and repack system.new.dat and .IMG files.

[Request] Can someone provide ANE-LX1 boot.img ?

Thanks to this thread we can download the P20 Lite firmware and extract the boot image (called ramdisk in these new huawei devices). Because of my bad connection (about 3hours of download and I can't wait), can someone extract the boot image file and attach it here, please ?

Download service ROM for your model and regional variant, then extract ramdisk.img from UPDATE.APP using Huawei update extractor.
