The model for Virgin Mobile from USA is CDMA-only, due to its hardware.

I basically had the same question that the OP has. I've been told the same thing that you said by HTC and Virgin Mobile, correct me if i'm wrong, doesn't the GSM variants have the same hardware as the Virgin Mobile variant? I've been trying to find info on the hardware differences to no avail. It is said that the VM variant has a CDMA radio, however it uses GSM mode for emergency calls.

Configuring different carriers

Hi,
I currently have an HTC Desire running on Puerto Rico's Open Mobile CDMA EvDo Rev. A network. It seems to me that the Galaxy S2 does support this network, and I had the Vibrant before and loved it, so I'm thinking about selling my phone for an S2.
Now, I've been searching info on how to configure / change carriers on the S2, as the phone is not available on mine. Haven't found that yet.
Anyone have a link / tutorial I can use?
Thanks!
The international sgs2 does not support CDMA, the sprint (USA) version of the sgs2 supports CDMA but you would have to check what bands your local carrier uses compared to sprint, and if you can activate an American phone on the network even if the bands match.

The HTC EVO V 4G is a variant of the CDMA EVO 3D from Sprint, that is made for Virgin Mobile's network (really Sprint's) in the US. These phones are CDMA only, not GSM, and therefore do not use a SIM card. If your plan is to use this phone on a GSM network in India, you cannot, sorry.

Thanks brother
Can you tell me.
Can it be unlocked to use on any CDMA network in India like reliance TATA or MTS BECAUSE I have heard virgin mobile is not popular in India and they are not providing service in all parts of India.
Thanks

It's not a matter of unlocking, but you can flash or re-provision it. There are users on here that use the CDMA on Reliant, but I don't know how to do it. Google will have to be your friend on that one.

Wind Mobile compatible?

I am looking to sign up with Wind Mobile and get the HTC One, they recently just got it.
I could not find a Wind Mobile specified forum for the HTC One, is the T-Mobile HTC One technically the same as Wind's?
Need clarification before signing up, currently using a ATT S3
Most gsm phones are the same AT&T and T-Mobile asd long as it's not cdma like sprint or Verizon you will be okay I have T-Mobile version but use HTC One forums is kinda dead here to be honest

They said most TMobile phones, you can use on WIND. I'm pretty sure you can use it on WIND cause they use the same spectrum.

T-mobile HTC one works with Wind, you just need to unlock it. T-mobile has 60 days policy before you can unlock your phone. I'm on Wind using T-mobile HTC one.
Wind also just released their own AWS band HTC one

Question about G3 networks (CDMA, LTE, etc.)

So I know this phone has CDMA, LTE, and GSM radios. My question is, does the GSM radio even functional or is it just there if you ever switch carriers to a gsm network? I thought GSM was only on At&t and verizon? I thought sprint was only CDMA?
I am confused about the GSM network. Does it mean that GSM isn't used with sprint but can be since there is a sim card?
I am only on sprint so will i ever need to worry about GSM?

LTE is over GSM. Back when Sprint"s 4G was (the inferior to LTE) WiMax it was accomplished using CDMA. When they adopted the LTE technology phones had to be equipped for GSM either using a SIM or an embedded SIM like in the LGOG. Yes Sprint uses CDMA except for LTE. Clear as mud?

So CDMA is for 2g and 3g and lte is for wimax (which is no longer here) and gsm is for true LTE?

LTE and Wimax are 2 different 4G technologies. Wimax barely qualifies as 4G. But yes the GSM is part of all LTE tech. Sprint uses CDMA for everything else.

Thanks man, really appreciate the help!
The GSM capability also allows the phone to be used on GSM networks. Sprint will generally unlock it for use with international carriers (if you're travelling overseas, for example). And there are a few threads here on XDA that purport to tell you how to unlock it for use on domestic carriers.

Still waiting for more feedback on this method which I think might be the closest to a true unlock. Using RUIM PREFERRED should allow frequent SIM swaps and back to Sprint again.

XT1526(Boost Mobile) GSM Unlockable?

Is the Moto E 2 Boost mobile GSM unlockable, so I can use it for Tmobile? Thanks. Can I Use the network App?
No. You need a USCellular branded xt1526. Sprint and boost branded devices are blocked from recognizing us domestic GSM sims.

But If I plan to use the boost mobile version in México (we have the same bands than USA,: WCDMA, LTE and GSM, not CDMA) how I could do that? Do I have to do the verizon xt1528 trick with the Network app? or What? Because in this moment the boost version is on $30 bucks

As far as I know that should work for you. I've seen at least one user here post successful use of boost version on a non US GSM network. I don't have a foreign sim to test.
