no 4G on my new Z ultra GPE - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hi there,
I`m from germany and my XPERIA Z C6603 with o2 germany has 4-bars 4G network at home. Now with my new Z Ultra GPE it's only EDGE. Same APN settings on both phones. Same problem anywhere?

Did you check if the bands are compatible with your network? Maybe your country uses 4g bands that aren't supported on this device since it is an international device and I know some countries have specific networks.

Yes, o2 Germany has LTE at 800 and 2600 mhz, should the z ultra gpe works?

Im not sure of the exact bands, you would have to get that information online. Can't really point you to where, I read about the bands on an Amazon review. If it doesn't work then I think its not compatible with your network because it would connect automatically. If you bought it from Expansys you have 15 days to return it!

Well, there is your answer... The zu gpe only supports the following LTE bands: 2100, 700, 850, 1700/2100, 2600, 1900, and 900. 800 is not supported.
Also, I am moving this to q&a.
You want me to put the hammer down?

HSPA+ with AT&T?

Hello, I just got this phone and I'm wondering if I was automatically switched to HSPA+ speed. It says H on the status bar but I don't notice any speed improvement. AT&T can't detect the phone obviously so I can't switch the 4G data plan on the website either.
Is there a way to check or make sure I'm getting HSPA+?
Thanks.
Go to the marketplace and download Free Speed Test.

If you are in an area that uses the 850 MHz band exclusively for HSPA+ and you only have a tri-band WCDMA Lumia then you will get 3g/edge speeds.
Data goes back and forth between 3G and H as I move about the city (New York). Wonder if it's the phone or the crappy AT&T signal.
My max down speed is about 3mbps.
Just wondering where you purchased your Lumia 800 from? I am looking for one for use with Telstra in Australia that uses the 850MHz band

I bought mine unlocked from Amazon.
Does it support the WCDMA 850MHz AT&T network? Did you have to flash it with something?
the Lumia 800 currently does not support 850Mhz, only 900.
Next month, the US variant (RM-819) will be released here at the Microsoft stores. I'm sure they won't be cheap, but they'll support 850Mhz. You can wait until then. There is also speculation that the EU variant (RM-801) can be flashed with the RM-819 firmware and then open up the 850 band, but that won't be confirmed until someone actually does it.

I don't know about that... The description of the factory unlocked German version I bought says it does.
"Nokia Lumia 800 black 16GB factory unlocked. GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 & 3G/HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100."
I'm using it on AT&T US with 3G.

Works fine with mine. I get 3-4mbps down, which seems to be the norm in NYC. I didn't touch the firmware, still on 11451.

Sorry, I should have been more detailed.
The variant models of the Lumia 800 (RM-801 and RM-819) differ in WCDMA bands, not GSM bands. Take everything I said before and apply it to WCDMA/HSPA. It then matches up with the description from your German advert.

Ah yes, then you're right. It says right there on the box. WCDMA 900/1900/2100. So no 3G for T-Mobile US ;P
AT&T No data
Just got my unlocked 800 from Amazon, can't seem to get data to work. Any suggestions? MSG calls OK

Go into Settings/Cellular, and at the bottom click APN. Add wap.cingular to the first line and save. That's it.

It's wrong. They're only tri-band 3G.
Edit: And that's already been mentioned, stupid extra page.
It uses the 1900 band to get at&t 3G, correct?
I was thinking about picking one of these up but was worried about 3G coverage with it if it only use 1900 instead of 850 and 1900.

dropped calls on AT&T with SO-02D with UK ROM

hi, i am using a DOCOMO NTT SO-O2D with a UK ROM on AT&T.
I am getting crappy cell phone service and dropped calls.
Is it because AT&T doesn't like any phones that's not in their system?
I never had this problem using another phone.
But it's getting to a point where it's annoying.
My internet is okay since i checked the APN and it's what everyone else has.
does the APN have any effect on dropped calls?
Can someone verify their APN settings on S0-O2D.
I've got an SO-02D on AT&T and got my apn settings here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13206058&postcount=110
I don't have an issue with dropped calls but AT&T uses 850 and 1900 for 3G and this device only supports the 850 3G band.

So is the LT26I doesn't have the 1900 3G band either?
I thought both devices are technically the same.
except DOCOMO cripples some parts such as NFC through firmware or something?
LT26i does have the 1900 band. No nfc on this device and the 3G bands are different. SE markings and software as opposed to Sony on LT26i. These are the major differences . LT26i has bands 1,2,5,6 and SO-02D has bands 1,5,6,9,19.
The 2 band is 1900.

Question about Xperia Acro S on T-Mobile USA

I'd been wanting to buy the Xperia Acro S since it's been announced. But before I buy it, I want to know if there's any trouble making a phone calls or anything with this phone on the T-Mobile USA network? I wonder what sort of network can I get? my Xperia x10 gets 3G, but Neo only gets 2G.
Also, I heard there is a US version to be released soon, but I wonder if there is a major difference between the US version or the International version? if not, then I won't have to wait around but buy the Intl. version asap.

[Q] Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE

So ive been browsing around google and searching. I know usually unlocked gsm phones cant work if trying to use it on a cdma network like sprint and verizon. Im currently on sprint and was wondering if the z ultra LTE version can work through sprints network? I came across this http://www.mobicity.com/sony-xperia-z-ultra-4g-lte-c6833.html if you look in the recommended network it also says sprint on there. Was this a miss type or is this true? If its true..probably thinking of purchasing one to use for sprint.

Your safest bet would be the C6806. It's duel band LTE. so has frequencies that work on AT&T as well as T-Mobile.
Do you know what frequencies they use? Then you can work out what verizon or sprint uses

AT&T uses 4G LTE : 800/1800/2600 MHz
http://www.wpsantennas.com/cellular-frequency-information.aspx
This website suggests that:
Spring uses 4G LTE: 1900
The C6833 uses 4G LTE on the following: 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
So according to websites... you should be able to get 4G using the C6833
But even the C6806 will work... as it runs 1900 and 800...

well you will always get 3G.... but according to those sources you will get 4G with what ever device you use.
I'd make the jump, as 3G+ is still nothing to sneeze at.
I have both the C6802 (3G+) and C6833 (4G)... [its a long story!!]
The 4G isn't a hell of a lot faster... Maybe thats just over here in New Zealand...

I went to a sprint store and asked..they said it still wont work even if they both have the 1900 bands.as those are gsm bands and sprint is the cdma band.
Will any of the sony xperia z ultra versions work on Verizon network? Thanks
VZW is CDMA like Sprint, and will not work because this mobile phone is a GSM global phone.
Two different radio technologies.

No luck. You won't be having much of a link on this.
I highly doubt any z ultra would work on CDMA networks.
Why don't you go for Galaxy mega 6.3 if you really want a big phone. It's a really good phone as well! Works on CDMA..
Ill just use the xperia z ultra on AT&T if i decide to get one. Right now im looking at 4 devices. Nexus 6,Note 4 international,Note 3 international, and the Sony Xperia Z ultra.
Has anyone found any new info on this at all.
