Tablet Z2 Screen protector for original Tablet Z? - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of getting a tempered glass screen protector made for the Tablet Z2 (can't find one for the Z) for the original Tablet Z.
The screen protector only has a hole for the camera so I'm thinking it should fit on the Tab Z.
Does anyone know if the screen size and camera position is exactly the same as the Z2?
Was thinking someone here may have upgraded from the Tab Z and used an old screen protector for their new Tablet.
Thanks

I recently sold my Tab Z and the Tab Z2 is on it's way. Will report. The Z has the selfie cam top center. Guess Z2 has it in the same spot. Not sure.

Screen Protector for sola

I wanted to know if there is a screen protector preinstalled by Sony on the sola.. Because my screen is slightly scratched and I remember the sola having a scratchproof glass
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
There's a shatterproof sheet pre installed in sola and u can see it if u take a closer look around the earpiece or the screen edges. It's the sheet that scratches not the screen. You can apply a screen protector on top of it but in your case it's already scratched so I advise u to keep it as is and get the maximum use of the sheet and then peel of off and apply a good aftermarket seen protector
Sent from my MT27i using xda premium
My pre-installed screen protector was scratched, too. I peeled it off, after that I continued using it without applying a new one and my screen's now still ok. I think Sola's screen doesn't need a protector.
@OP-You should have posted it in
Xperia S, P, U, Sola, Acro S Accessories
It's the same for all xperia devices I think, my old x10 had it. I don't advise going without a screen protector, some supposedly scratch proof glasses have gotten scratched i.e. The galaxy note

Few questions about Z Ultra need quick answers!

Hey everyone, there is an on-going deal in my country to get Z Ultra for couple days more at the price of 400 euro. The design and the hardware of the phone looks amazing literally drooling. But im concerned about the touch screen issues i read here, i currently own a Zopo C2 chinese brand and gives me headaches everytime im about to use just because the touch scr een is awful has phantom touches and shaking issue when you press-and-hold, it even goes crazy when you scroll up and down it scrolls very fast to the top or bottom of the page.
So i read there was few ROM updates about the touchscreen the last couple months and now a new KitKat update is on the way.
1) Does touch screen problems affect every single device( factory fault) or just few?
2) From your experience after those updates is the touchscreen completely fixed?
3) Does the screen break easily since its so big or is as tough as having a 5inch with gorilla glass?
4) I kinda hate the look of Xperia ROMs , it is possible to unlock bootloader/root and install custom recovery/custom ROMs atm? Or is it at least expected to get some ROM developing in the future?
Thanks, i kinda need some answers soon since the deal will go off in 1-2 days and the device originally costs 500-550 euros.
Hi!
1) I had phantom touches on an earlier firmware, but Sony fixed it in a later firmware. I've seen one or two guys here that still has phantom touches though, so i would say that it's pretty much fixed.
2) Yes.
3) I haven't read about anyone that has broken their screens, but it's a 6.4" screen after all, so it might break if it hits the ground.
4) Yes, you can unlock the bootloader, install Recovery and flash custom ROMs. As you might have picked up yesterday, Sony released the Z Ultra Google Play Edition. This will allow us to use the stock Kit Kat build from that one and "convert" our Ultras to Google Play Edition devices
I dropped mine on to concrete without any protection more then screen protector front and back. It landed on a corner and peeled off the silver but not a single scratch or crack on both sides.
It's built to make it I believe...

If you root you can reduce the screen sensitivity to get rid of phantom clicks.

Xperia Z Ultra Bumper case in INDIA

Hi,
I am from India, using an Z Ultra. I was looking for a bumper case for it and stumbled upon a cool one in eBay:
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Ultra-Thin-A...-Case-Sony-Xperia-Z-Ultra-Black-/281162345171
But it is so expensive. Rs 2636.
If anyone have stumbled upon a cool bumper for the Z Ultra, which is a bit cheap, please post:angel:
Does the silence mean that nobody knows about a cheaper option in India?

I've been searching for a long time.... Other than the one which you posted and another (nearly same price), I haven't found any bumpers. Aluminum ones, that is.

eBay Global Easy Buy
I picked up a black aluminium one of ebay GEB. Turned out slightly cheap. And the phone looks amazing with it. http://geb.ebay.in/g/ImportHubSearc...tra&catId=&qbtn=Search&_trksid=p2052119.l1440
Most of cheap aluminum bumper cases are un-reliable due to no protection in between the case and the phone. It gives u more scratch to the phone if the bumper is not tight enough. Plz ask seller about it.

Realize this is an older post, but was wondering if the bumper degraded your cell or gps signals? I have been thinking of getting one but read where some people have issues with them.
thanks

Hey, sorry for the delay in replying. Even though the bumper looks very cool, I have realized (the hard way, though) that you will not be seen using it all the time. First of all, the added bulk, even though very little, does not justify the usage
Secondly, the bumper may not be so comfortable to hold, may be cos of the edges
Thirdly, it does not play well with the Xperia Z Ultra design language. This is not as beautiful as a Nexus 4 bumper, i would say
I AM NOT USING THE BUMPER CASE anymore :cyclops:

Thanks for getting back to me on such an old thread. Did the bumper degrade your signal strength any when you were using it? What are you using now?
Thanks again

Not sure about Signal Strength, as i didnt use it much.
I am using a transparent case now, so that my Xperia Z Ultra design shines through

It sounds like we all want the same thing... To keep the beautiful design visible and be minimalistic. Can you post where you got the clear case you ended up using and your thoughts on it? I would really be appreciative.

It was a hard glass case. IMAK Case. It scratched my device on the sides. I took it and threw it. Now no case
Silicon cases might be the best option
oh man I'm sorry to hear that. That's kind of a nightmare and it sounds like we need to keep away from bumper cases and this all glass case.

[Q] Changing the camera [hardware]

Is it possible to switch out the camera from an xperia z1 and put it in the z ultra? I've read that the software has been ported over, but I'm curious whether it would be possible to change out the 8mp camera for a 20.7 one? I've not seen the internals of either phone but my assumption would be the connector would be the same or at the very least similar...
i.e. rip out the stock camera and replace it with this:
eBay itm/Main-Camera-Sony-Xperia-Z1-C6902-C6903-C6906-C6916-C6943-L39h-20Mpx-New-ORIGINAL-/181249041255?pt=UK_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2a3348e367
not allowed to post links but just add the missing bits to the above if you are so inclined.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Straight answer: no
Why:
The Z1 is 8.5mm thick
The ZU is 6.5mm thick
It wont fit.
Internally the Z1 and ZU are the same. Some module differences, and the camera obviously but a Z1 sensor would fit, its just the lens combination that is too thick to fit. And without that lens combination you wouldn't have the 20mp camera.

I don't think you will find a fitting one. And I think the zu is glued so disassembling and reassembling will be very very tough

I've pulled apiary mine, and it is difficult.. But possible. There is a rubber seal around the whole unit and a little glue to.
Seeing as the ultra is the thinnest yet, I don't think you'll get any other sensor in there. That's why it's as bad as it is I guess

The only module that i can think of to be put here is the one from Xperia 2011 devices.. But then, even if you managed to change it, you need to resolve the software for it too, which gets quite messy really fast..
Thanks for the replies
I still wonder if a case modification would allow for the camera...
Something to ponder and perhaps trial when the phone becomes obsolete

When the waterproof drop,it can protect the phone.
I want to bump this thread too. I just wonder if Z2 can have liquipel. Yes i know Z2 is waterproof but what if you didn't close flap properly or flaps are loose because of frequent use. Removable back covers like Xperia ZR would also take benefit for this. It would be nice to see this on future Xperia flagships as an addition or maybe an option that you can have.

I think Liquipel guys cover only the outer shell, not flaps and such.

I think liquipel can be applied to interior. Look at the iphone and moto g. Water gets inside. Liquipel puts your phone into a special vacuum where the applicant is turned to gas and forced inside the phone
