[Q] Does deleting photos from Gallery also delete them from Google Photos? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My auto backup is turned on for Google Photos. Any pictures I take on my phone automatically get uploaded to my Google Photos online. If I go through my Gallery app (not my Photos app) and delete pics, will they also be deleted from my Google Photos online next time I sync?

Funny how no one has addressed this yet. People are fooled by the numerous videos on Youtube on how to remove the photos. But all those videos show the exact same instructions which only remove the photos from syncing to that device. It does not delete them. Once you buy a new phone, those photos will show up again.
I would like to know where they are coming from..

Update Facebook Photos on Contacts

Hi, after the upgrade to the new facebook app my contacts photos stopped updating along with facebook photos.
I've managed to update the photos by cleaning the facebook cache, going to the facebook app in the friends page and waiting for all the pictures to load up. But this is a very unpleasant thing to do all the time I want a contact picture updated.
Is there any automatic way to update the facebook cache photos so the contacts photos would also update? It would be nice also if I could have an automatic way to make the contacts pick the facebook photos and not the google account ones.
I tried syncmypix, but the photos wouldn't focus on my friends face as facebook does, so many photos were cropped in the wrong place and also would take forever to update. A more intelligent way to update the photos would be appreciated.
I would like to know as well?
You could try deleting the Facebook app, and using an older version?
If that doesn't work, it is a problem with Facebooks stupid sync crap, which doesntvload unless every picture is saved in its local cache.
Another thing, a new Google account without any contacts in it may be a way to go, just before you do, back your phone contacts into a .vcf file.
Hope it helps,

S3 Gallery and Instant upload

Is it only me or ...
With "Sync Google Photos" and Sync Picassa Web Albums" activated I still cant sync my camera pictures with google+....
And the only way to make it work is to install Google+ app but then you can see picture twice in Gallery ... (one under camera pictures and the other under Instant upload folder....)
Help would be really appreciated....
What I did so far :
reset phone settings,
wipe dalvik
tried to sync with another account
tried over wifi
Sync report ok.... I have no clue !!!!
Thats how mine is. I just delete the camera photos after they sync.
Google + just uses the instant upload to put them in your private web folder. Having the sync enabled allows the phone to download those photos from your web albums and allows you to manually upload when you want. I dont think its for auto uploading like google +

So basically you mean that there is no way to sync camera photos without using Google+ app ?
I thought I could with my previous Galaxy Note... I dont understand what the "Sync Google photo" is for then....

As far as I know, not automatically. You can always go to the gallery, hold the camera folder and sync the whole album manually to wherever you want.
the link is broken on the google support site, but it use to read this:
Android 4.0 devices have a system setting that allows you to Sync Google Photos.
This setting enables syncing of your Google Photos from your web albums to your device's Gallery app. As a result, if you have a large number of photos in your web albums that have been uploaded through Picasa Web Albums or Google+, you may notice a high amount of battery or data usage during this sync.
This setting also enables or disables sync for Instant Uploads to Google+. However, to enable Instant Upload, you must enable Sync Google Photos as well as enable Instant Upload within the Google+ app

I am having trouble with background data usage from the 'Gallery' app. I think it is related to videos uploading when I'm off of wifi. In settings / accounts / gmail - I had instant upload on, and then in G+ I had to sync photos and videos only when on wifi and only when charging, but it's still using network data to background sync... and I have droidwall installed and 'gallery' is not one of the apps I white listed for network data.
Any ideas? for now I turned off background data since it didn't seem to affect any regular use of the phone and it does block the gallery app. Seems like there are quite a few options in the gmail accounts as far as photos go so not sure what they all do or what I should bother with. I do know that on my SGS, SGS2 this background usage wasn't happening and I had things setup then like I do now.

[Q] Sync Picasa albums with multiple accounts

I have my pictures loaded on Google Picasa. I can see the pictures in my Android Gallery app.
Id like to see my pictures also on my wife's gallery app. So far I havent been able to.
Ive tried adding my google account. Tried adding her to My Circles (Goggle++ thing) and having the albums shared to that group.
Anyone know if its possible?
Only way so far is to just give her a link to my pictures, in which she can then use the browser to see them. But sure beats the purpose of having them for offline viewing on her phone. BTW, from what I read, Gallery is going away for 5.0, and offline viewing of online pictures will be removed.

Google photos

Any good options for displaying my google photos on Wear OS? My wife and I share an account and all pictures we take get uploaded to the same google photos account. It'd be nice to view them on the watch. Thanks!

My app NavExplorer has a way to transfer files and view photos on the watch or set them to a watch face background or complication. You would have to download them to your phone or computer before transferring them though. I'd be happy to integrate with Google Photos, though I'm not sure if there is a way to access them directly.
If you just want to view them, I believe there is a browser app for Wear OS out there so you could just open the site.

Stop opening Google Photos after taking a picture.

Hey guys,
when I take a picture with my Gcam app, Google Photos opens automatically after it. So it's not possible to shoot multiple pictures in a row. Is this a bug? Google Photos sync is disabled, so why does Google Photos open after each shot?
Thanks a lot!
