I have a THL 5000 too. Same issue. In my case I notice that it does not happen everywhere. I get disconnect at home, and at one other place. At other places like work, starbucks barnes and noble no disconnect. I tried almost everything to get around the issue and have had success a few different way. This issues is not limited to THL 5000 its many other android phones running Kit Kat. My ipad 2 has the same issues and so does my vista laptop but the issues occur only at home. This got me to think it may be router issue incompatibiity since some devices work perfectly and some dont I have three that disconnect in the same location. My ipad one has no issues my ipad air has no issues, just THL 5000, vista laptop, and ipad 2 have chronic disconnect.
My first way around this issues was to change the security setting on my router to WEP from WPA/WPA2 (both versions of WPA gave me disconects) when I did this they no longer disconneced from WIFI The issue here is that WEP is not very secure, but it solved the issue. I had checked for firmware update on the router but it reported they were all up to date. My devices are up to date too.
So if you are ok with WEP security it may fix the issue for you.
I personally did not want to keep using WEP, because my friend showed me how he can hack into my wifi. So I continued my search for another work around. I found that a wifi extender works. I found one for $30 at walmart and I had my phone link to the extender and the extender link to the router. This worked well for all devices and allowed me to maintain WPA security feature. So while not a fix it is a work around and not expensive.
A third solution is just buy a new router, but from what I gather other router have issues too, Nighthawk AC 1900 I heard has disconnect issues. So if you go via new router method keep in mind you want to save he receipt until you know for sure disconnect issue is gone. Basically its a compaibility issue. Also this may be most expensive route.
fourth methob if you phone had a previous Andorid OS (previous to Kitkat) you can try and restore a older version of the OS. Many have had success with that. In my case It came only with Kitkat so I could not place an older version.
Fifth method get a new phone. Since I could not return the phone I personally just run my phone via range extender at home and this works for me. I found a netgear range extender for $30 on amazon.
So while I don have a solution for you, there may be some work around that might work for you.

Did any one fix Hero WiFi Problem...

Hi everyone...
I want to ask if anyone managed to fix the Hero WiFi problem... If you haven't see all these threads in forums around the world about the same problem that we have on Hero, and the problem is that the Hero connects to the WiFi without any problems and starts working normally, but after few minutes it looks that its is connected, the WiFi indicator shows that the network is Excellent or good but when I try to open new pages, the browser says that the network has dropped or no access to the AP... I think this problem is well known here... so I was wondering if any one has managed to fix the problem, or is there any program, or update from HTC that I missed to fix this problem...
Thanks in advance for every one..
Hamo
I had the same issue with a linksys router, before I upgraded to the newest radio. Have you tried that?

This appears to be linked to what router you are using. I have 3 different routers. 2 work fine 1 doesn't. The one that does not work is the newer most expensive Belkin MIMO router.
Some say that you should disable 11n and just use b and g, others say manually select channel. Not sure if either reliably works. Best way is to change the router. The one I am using at the moment is 7 years old, so you do not need hi-tech.
It's definitely not an N issue. I have 3 routers and have this problem with all of them. One is a WAP-11 running D-Link firmware, one is a WRT-54G running the most recent Tomato, and the other is one their early b/g routers running stock firmware. I've also tried the obvious tweaks with no improvement (different channels, different security settings, etc...). Also have the problem on both of our Heros. My wife's is still stock, mine is running the damagecontrol ROM (had the problem when it was stock, too).
I actually just got out of bed and sat down at my computer to research this exact issue. My wife and I both need data service for our jobs, and 3G coverage is lousy at our house no matter which carrier, so it's absolutely crucial that WiFi work well.
I've read bits and pieces on this forum and others that makes it sound like flashing a radio update could fix the problem. Is this accurate? It also sounds like people are having issues with bricking their phones after a radio update. Any truth there?
Google searches on the subject bring up mountains of irrelevant results to sift through, if anybody could save me a little time and point me in the right direction I'd be very, very appreciative.
(As someone who's worked in IT for over 20 years, I understand that there are always bugs and compatibility issues with technology. However, given that Linksys is the most popular brand of home router out there, I think it is inexcusable that the phone shipped with this issue. That Sprint and HTC have allowed it to go unremedied for this long is downright appalling. "Buy a new router" is NOT a solution that they should be able to get away with.)
Your problems may not be the same as the ones referred to by the OP. What are the symptoms? Can you connect at all to the routers?
The symptoms of the common problem that I was referring to is that you appear to be connected to the router but whenever you try to use the connection you get a connection error message despite your wireless settings appearing to show you are connected to the router. Are those your symptoms?
As I said I have two routers that work fine, one of which is an old D-Link DI524, the other being a newer Netgear WGR614. Both of those only have 11b & g and are running with original firmware. The one that does not work, the Belkin, has 11n, also running with original firmware.
For some flashing the original radio has worked. Others report that it makes no difference.
I have just noticed your reference to Sprint. In that case it may be better to start your own thread on the dedicated Hero CDMA forum, which deals with CDMA phones rather than the GSM phones that most of us have got. You could also try reading and asking here as well.

Pretty much exactly. WiFi will work for 10 minutes or so, then quit. Phone still says it's connected, excellent signal strength, and has valid IP configuration. Just won't pass any traffic.
I'm seriously considering flashing a newer radio version to see if it helps, but I've read accounts of bricked phones when people try to revert back to the original radio. I have to be able to get back to original because if I don't get WiFi working the phones will need to be returned since WiFi is not optional for us. (Sadly, I'll probably end up stuck with a Blackberry if we go that route, since WinMo is 100% out of the question.)
As an alternative solution, can anybody recommend a router that's currently available and known to work with the Hero? I would need it to support external antennas and be able to flash dd-wrt onto it.

I've read a few reports of bricking while flashing radios, but in all cases it's been due to the user. The actual flashing takes place on the first reboot after the update.zip is applied in recovery. At this point the phone displays a graphic of a box and a phone with an arrow indicating transfer from box to phone. Apparently some people have freaked at this point, as they thought the update was already done & hence something must be wrong. As a result they pull their battery
I've not come across bricking reports specifically in relation to reverting back to the original radio. Got any links?

I am not sure why you would need this. I also wonder whether flashing something different on to a router which works may stop it working. But then I may be showing the limits of my knowledge.
If it is any use to you I still use my Belkin router (it is both wired and wireless) for my usual wifi throughout most of the house and my office. The only thing I don't use it wirelessly for is the Hero (and an old printer with a LAN print sharer). I sat my old D-Link router on top of the Belkin and wired the two together using a LAN cable. So the wireless bit of the D-Link works for the Hero via the wired hub of the Belkin. I have exactly the same set up for the Netgear router, which serves another part of the house and is also wired in to the Belkin.
They both work fine piggy backed by wire on to the Belkin. The problem is only with the wireless bit of the Belkin, not the rest of it. So why not try a new router wired in to your existing one?
Both the two routers I have named work, but both are, I guess, no longer available new. Not sure if they were ever sold in the USA, given I am in the UK. But if they did why not try a used one on fleabay?
And I still think you would be better served posting on the specific Sprint forum. The Sprint version of this phone is a CDMA phone with different version of ROM than the GSM version which most of the rest of us use. The phones even look different!
Never had any problems with wifi on this phone.
Maybe i have this probelem now...
never had a problem before i rooted and updated radios etc on my phone...
Just rooted it today... so need to check it out a bit more.

Hero/router compatibility list
As so many differing reports of wi-fi connection issues are appearing, I have thrown together a quick-and-dirty summary of known routers/APs mentioned in this and similar threads. Put simply, "Good" work with the Hero using WPA2, "Bad" don't work at all, and "Ugly" work but with limitations.
I don't claim that this is in any way definitive or scientific, but it should help anyone looking for help with an inop wi-fi link. Please post any further details you may have both on the listed hardware and any other devices, working or otherwise. The more info we have the better placed we are to help each other.

[Q] Wi-Fi Problems

Got a 32GB version.
All my other devices, windows laptops, android tablet connect up to my wifi fine. I am using WPA with AES (static IP). The HP Touchpad connects, but there is huge packet loss and it barely can keep a connection. It doesn't drop out per se, just cant get any data. Tried changing router settings, being 30cm from it etc. Still same problem. Any apps/tweaks i can try on the Touchpad?
Maybe it has something to do with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with WPA, WPA2, WEP, 802.1X authentication;
maybe your router doesnt support it.
Just curious, are you running any of the Preware patches?
I am having a similar problem with my 16gb wifi model. Wifi works for a short while, then drops the signal. If I go in and turn off wifi on the device and turn it back on again - then it will work fine for another few minutes until it eventually drops the connection again.
I had this problem before I loaded any preware tweaks - and after as well. I am running the Govnah app to overclock to 1.5ghz and a few other logging tweaks.
I did some digging and it seems the most likely issue is a problem with the firmware of my router (D-link DIR-655), specifically the wireless n protocol. I am going to try updating my router firmware and see if that helps out.
By the way - no issues with my two laptops, dell streak 7, or my wii - so its definately isolated to be an issue specific to my touchpad/router combination...
I too am having problem. I don't drop the wireless connection, just a internet connection. All of a sudden nothing on my touchpad can connect to the internet, until I turn the wireless off and then back on again. Very weird. Everything else working off of my Dlink DGL-4500 works fine, except the touchpad.
I notice a few of you have Drinks, maybe thats the cause?
I'm running on FIOS and using Verizon's provided router. Works flawlessly. I've had one issue w/ WiFi, but a reboot solved that and has never come back.
I had problems with my dlink 615. TP would lose connection after 20 minutes or so. My wife's would do the same. My evo 4g had the same problem. I changed the router to the G only setting. I haven't had any problems with either TP since that change. The 615 uses draft N and was one of the early routers with this. I think it causes problems with some devices. I haven't really lost any speed either as the 615 will only connect at the speed of the "slowest" wireless card on the network, and I have some devices at g speed that are always on. I do plan to get a new router at some point.

See my Touchpad is the ONLY device having problems, that's the part I don't get. All of my devices are wireless N as well.
TouchPad WiFi issues
Okay, I've tried every custom kernel available with almost the same results. I'm beginning to think my unit is defective, but I am hoping it is the custom kernels and not my unit. I haven't tried restoring the stock kernel but I suppose I should have before writing this. Anyway..onto the issue!
Does anyone have this problem where WiFi will randomly stop transmitting data? It happens most when I am browsing the web with the stock browser and almost all the time it is after the unit awakes from sleep. Sometimes it happens while browsing but the majority of the time it happens when coming out of sleep. WiFi is still on and connected to my network, but network activity is not there. The only way to fix it is by doing one of the following:
-Turn off and on WiFi
-Launch the HP software catalog.
The second method one seems to give the network a jump start and WiFi will begin working again and data will transmit.
Freeza I think that's a common slug, I read some other posts about it. Heck mine was doing it a lot, but not so much lately. I don't think you have defective device.
Sent from my HP Touchpad using xda premium
I have this issue too, on two Touchpads on the same wifi network (mine and my wife's). The issue vanishes on my portable wifi 4G hotspot and my much better office wifi network, so it's probably my router. I've ordered a MUCH better router, and if that kills the problem, I'll know for sure within a week.
I hear this is a common, but situation-specific issue.
phew.... Was getting worried for a bit there. Thanks guys. Hopefully the next webOS update can fix it

I also have this problem. The wireless on the TP will stop working, even though it says it is connected. Disabling and re-enabling the wireless fixes it temporarily.
I also have an 802.11N wireless router. It is a Trendnet TEW-633GR. No other wireless device has ever had an issue with it, so I think the touchpad doesn't handle something properly...

Home wifi going in and out

So since updating my atrix 4g to av 2.3.6 b 4.5.141 update my home wifi connectionto the device has been turning on and off. I have narrowed it down to the router belkin g+ mimo just wanted to make others aware. Had no issue before this update.
Any info on why this has happened?
All other devices stay connected as usual.
The Radio that comes with 4.5.141 is 1.77.37P, which I am also running and has given me the same problem. My former radio (1.77.30P) that shipped with 4.5.91 did not have this issue for me.
I fixed it by doing the following:
Settings > Wireless & Network Settings > Wifi Settings
From there, hit the menu button and choose advanced.
Click the "WiFi Sleep Policy" and set it to Never
This will stop the wireless from shutting off when the screen is off. Hope it helps!
Did you power off/on both the router and phone? Always worth a try before spending too much time do other possible fixes .
If the sleep policy is already set to never and you're still experiencing the problem you could:
1) flash the older radio
2) debug the problem. Install the sendlog app in marketplace. Recreate the behavior a few times. Open sendLog and email it to yourself. Look at the sendlog output to see why your phone is dropping the connection (wifi auth errors, signal issues, etc).
My home wifi is an old WRT54GS with WPA2 PSK and I've had no problems. Work is a 802.1x EAP. The other day I was at a coffee shop that had WPA2 and my Atrix was having some issues authenticating with the wifi router. After a few tries the phone finally connected. Not sure if that's the same problem you're experiencing.
Thanks I tried that.
What is happening is the connection just drops ff while on web or youtube ect.
It disconnects for a sec then reconnects. does this randomly. Even with the setting to never still randomly disconnects and reconnects.
Like I said no other wireless device does this and the atrix just started after the update.
may have to change routers hope not.
Will try the log app and post the results later.
Why change your router when it's the phone that has the problem? You need to address the root cause, not try and bandaid it.
Any possibility you can flash the 36P radio and try that? (Need to unlock your bootloader though).
Could also try a hard reset (30/30/30) of your router. This will load back all defaults, and sometimes clears up connection issues if you have them, but since this started with the update, it shouldn't be that.
I dug out my old netgear. atrix hasnt dropped connection once.
Something here conflicting with the belkin making the atrix drop it.
Tried the log file. Lol 1.2 mb of confusion.
Thanks everyone.
Maybe get belkin to send me a new router.
Just for testing purposes can you try connecting to the belkin with no WEP/WPA/WPA2/whatever enabled?
btw don't post sendlog output. log could contain sensitive information .
Its a known issue on Belkin routers and the 2.3.6 gingerbread update. Something to do with DHCP Lease renewal. Try this
Go in to router settings
Select LAN Settings
Change Lease time from forever to 2 days
Reboot router and phone
This fixed the problem for me
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I resolved the problem. Belkin rep explained to me that I need the N band.
I was using G the new update for the atrix updated the radio. My router was old and the firmware is outdated. Sounds like bs to me. Anyway bought a linksys today. Problem solved.
I was impatient. Will try changing the date just for giggles. For now Im surfing xda.
Edit: changing the lease time did not resolve the issue for me. The new router is working perfectly.
we have a Belkin 750DB, and a Netgear WNDR3300 and are experiencing the same issues on the belkin, but not the netgear. I haven't had a chance to try the difference between N and G on the belkin. We haven't found a resolution yet, the router is only a few months old, and costs way too much to change out... any else solved this really yet? besides falling back to the 36P radio?
I run a Netgear on G and another Netgear on N at home, and have no problems with either router with any radio. My network printer runs off the G network, so I switch the Atrix to that if I need to print, otherwise my Atrix connects to the N router.
(Split the G and N so I can run N devices only on one and maintain highest transfer speeds).
I think the sales guy was talking BS. Atrix works fine on either band.
..
Just a update on this...
I have tested Netgear, and Linksys routers
Both have performed flawless
It is only on the Belkin router that the issue occurs at least for me.
So it must be some conflict with the new radio and Belkin.
If anyone has had luck with Belkin please let me know your settings.

[Q] Samsung Note/Note 2 will not connect to home wifi without kicking off devices

Hello.
I've actually had this problem for a while now, since I bought my first Samsung Galaxy Note, but I ignored it since I'm on a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
Anyhow.
Now I've also bought a Samsung Galaxy Note II for my mom, who doesn't have an unlimited plan, which makes this a bigger problem.
I'm on the AT&T network btw.
Network Info:
For my home internet connection, I run a Linksys WRT54G with the Tomato firmware (version 1.28), with security set to accept both WPA or WPA2, and both TKIP or AES (This was for compatibility reasons for some older devices, otherwise I'd be WPA2-AES).
I run Static DHCP, meaning each device with specific MAC addresses gets assigned a specific IP address.
I run a Wireless Filter, set to permit only devices whose MAC address is on the list get to connect wirelessly.
Problem Description:
When I bought my first Samsung Galaxy Note, I tried to connect it up to the wifi. I went ahead, registered the MAC address with the router, assigned it a specific IP address, all the settings correct.
It connected. Great!... Then later it wouldn't. After much investigation, I found that if the Laptop was connected to the wifi, then the phone couldn't connect. If the phone was connected to the wifi, then the Laptop couldn't connect. I tested this both before and after using a cooked firmware on the phone, same result. The Laptop and the Phone both have different IP addresses and MAC addresses.
So, I went ahead and got my mom a Samsung Galaxy Note II. It connects, without problems... or so I thought. Same problem, except the problem isn't the laptop, it's the wireless printer. If the printer is connected to the wifi, then the Note II cannot connect to it. If the Note II is connected to the wifi, then the printer cannot connect to it. Firmware for the phone is stock. The Printer and the Phone both have different IP Addresses and MAC addresses.
I read somewhere else in past searches being a problem inherent with the android OS in rare circumstances, but I can't find that now.
Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Now, I could be mistaken, but the WRT54G was built in 2006-2008 range, right? Is your router this old/has it seen continuous use? I know my parents had their WRT54G die in about 2010-2011. It began rebooting incessantly and doing the same thing, but to our Windows-based laptops connected to it, so it might be age. Just a thought.

It is old, but hasn't seen continuous usage. My original one died a few years ago, and so I replaced it with another one that had been sitting in a closet, unused at a friend's house. Both WRT54Gs.
It's possible that its age may be a contributing factor, but no other device has exhibited the problems that I have described here. Only the Note and Note II have done this. Even my old windows 6.5 phone didn't have this problem.

I'll admit, I'm no networking expert. The only time i've seen something similar was with two Windows PC's running Windows 7 and Team Fortress 2. THe issue then turned out to be an HTC passthrough driver, but I don't know why. I'll let an expert answer further. :S
Well, I appreciate the help anyway dibblebill!

Hi Dmwitz, I have the Samsung Galaxy S 1. I have the same issue, WiFi connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, ...and so on. Android 2.3.3 here (Gingerbread XWJVI). Worked like a charm for months until yesterday. I changed nothing, or at least I am unaware of any changes I may have made.
So, please, which exact firmware did you install that solved the problem, was it an official Samsung fw or a custom one ?
And, which fw was the one that was on the device when the problem existed ?

If you already installed it, and your wifi is broke. Install these two very popular programs below. They fix the wifi. Don't ask me why, but it worked for us. I found it on another forum.
And don't listen to people who are telling you to disable your security on the router!!
Just install these from the play store and try connecting again. it instantly fixed my issue with connecting to wifi at home.
1. Wifi Analyser
2. Wifi Connecter Library
3. try connecting to wifi again

Thanks for the post, and I appreciate the effort. However, this does not fix my particular problem, as my phone was had the OS before Jelly Bean, and it was already bundled with those programs by the cooker. Thanks again though, I appreciate the effort.

Have you tried disabling static IPs and only keeping the wireless filter? A friend of mine had a D-Link router, one Galaxy S Duos, two laptops, two iPads and every time I got there with my Galaxy S3, and turn wi-fi on, one thing was kicked off the network. Case was solved doing this. I don't know if it will help but I think it's worth a try.

5ghz wifi won't connect without settings adjustment

Hey guys,
my Mate 20 Pro won't connect to 5ghz wifi.
I always need to adjust settings in the menu of the router which is inconvenient.
I of course can't do that at every place that I go to.
Especially since many people don't even know how to get there and their log in data.
Is there a fix for that?
Does even anyone else have that?
I have connected my M20Pro to 2 different 5 Ghz wireless access points without issues, both using WPA2 security,
I am having a slightly different problem. My phone will connect to the 5ghz network, but once I am more than 10 feet away the speed drops to almost nothing. The 2.4ghz network off the same router is unaffected. I have tried factory resetting my phone and resetting the router and nothing has resolved the issue.
You can make sure that the WiFi of 5G is hidden, Make sure WiFi is household or public?
I use 5ghz wifi at 3 different locations, no issues. 2.4ghz always has a greater range though. Any issues are with the routers.
Sorry for the late update.
I've got my device replaced because of the green lights at the edge and around the notch.
WiFi works perfectly now.
I get up to 100% of our bandwidth which I haven't seen in any other mobile device.
For me, asking Vodafone to exchange the device was the easiest and quickest way.
I've exchanged the device right in the store and was ready to go.
As I've heard (but didn't need), Huawei offers a similar replacement service.
I was told that I would be contacted later by the Huawei online chat but wasn't since Vodafone was quicker.
This was in Germany. Might be different in other cases and especially countries.

Like I've said, I've got a replacement device because of the green screen issue.
The new device has the best wifi connection I've ever seen.
Don't know if it was the old device or a software issue though.
