Lte signal Evo vs Galaxy S4 - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I recently bought my wife a galaxy 4 and it seems to always be connected to LTE even inside the house, meanwhile my Evo Lte keeps switching from Lte to 3g. Very frustrating... My phone has all the updates.. is there something else I can do?

That's what I figured. I've been on the fence for a couple weeks deciding between the M8 or the G3. I really like the M8 but I'm afraid to have the same problem with it...

My G3 gets LTE inside the house where my evo struggled to get 3g. Much better radios.

Its been decided. G3 it is! See you in the G3 threads... Thank you for your responses. I'm curious, have you rooted yours yet?

No. Without an unlocked bootloader, there's no custom recovery available yet. Though, I understand they're close. I just don't want to take any risks without having backups. Plus, this thing stock is absolutely no slouch.

Resound ... amaze 's twin?

Hey guys, well it doesn't look like another amaze is in y future, but im getting a rezound to replace my work phone (my dx) . Has any one here had any experience, opinions?
How's the 4g lte? I know I could have posted in the resound forums, bit I wanted to see if anyone has switched to or from big red, and went from amaze to rezound or vice versa..
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
TMobile doesn't have lte. So if the resound is att it would be best to ask elsewhere.

Yes. Having been a tmo customer for over 12years I am well aware of that thanks though lol.
The rezound is a Verizon phone fyi.
I was just wondering what if any experiences amaze owners have had .

Just check gsmarena, pretty sure they have a review on it, they have a review on just about every phone and pretty solid at that, they tell you as it is, if that battery life sucks, they say so flat out.
I've used one before cause I was thinking about going to Verizon. It has a slighter higher resolution (720x1280) but the picture quality is pretty much identical. The LTE network is very fast but unfortunately it will put quite a drain on the battery if you leave it on. That's one of the reasons I went with the HTC Amaze since HSPA+ is about as fast as Verizon's LTE... and no battery drain.
Oh yeah it has Beats audio but its just software and can be flashed to the Amaze if your phone is rooted.

Reception problem

Is there a fix for the ultra bad reception for the new Evo? My 2year old OG evolution had much better reception overall...what's up with that?

I'm had the same problem. My calls would sound garbled on both ends. I exchanged my phone and it still not 100%.
So today I wake up and try to send an SMS and no luck there either. Called sprint and they say it's intermittent problems with the LTE network and it only affects LTE phones. Sucks!

Yeah updated a few times already. I just think reception of this new 'ultra' phone really sucks. Like I said OG Evo beat it by far but I had to upgrade because my charging port broke and I got tired of constantly switching batteries

Cant argue with you there, lol Ive got all of the Evo's(OG,3D AND LTE). OG is by far my favorite. Reception on my lte is pretty pretty good in bigger cities but where i live it kinda sucks. Might be your issue as well. Im on sprint but at home im on verizon/at&t towers may be the problem

4g and 4g LTE on vzw

I live in an area where I'm used to getting 1x and a bar of 3G, however today I noticed 4G and just now an icon popped up saying 4G LTE. Whats the difference? Given, vzw store said we would get 4g within a few months but didn't expect it this soon
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
lol the difference can be up to like 40x faster than 3g.... my 3g here gets like 1mbps download.. 4g gets like 20 on a good day

I understand your question. It's the same thing on VZW. I think you just missed the LTE part the first time.

At times I see the "LTE" part of the icon disappear and reappear. I've noticed no difference in speed.

I wonder if you have an overlap of network types between VZW and another carrier like AT&T or something like that?
the DNA can only connect to Verizon's LTE spectrum IIRC. It can do basically all GSM/CDMA but not LTE.
I'm wondering if maybe he has a custom ROM or a custom status bar. If he is stock then that icon change is weird. And as stated, the DNA can only connect to Verizon's LTE. It does not support LTE from AT&T as it runs on a different frequency.

Shouldn't be a difference between 4G and 4GLTE. Your area is probably getting prepped for 4G. Expect it to go on and off for several days, even weeks, before it is officially turned on.

Really? Consistently? There's something out of whack here. I get d/l anywhere between 16-30, and u/l between 4-12 while on VZW 4G LTE.
Just now I got 16 down, 6 up.

I get 4G when I go to work 45 minutes away and its speeds are around 6-12 down and 1 up, but the past year we had 4g at work and never saw LTE come up on my razr or the DNA in the past month till last night. Also stock, rooted, s-off, unlocked

You need to call tech support and complain, that's no where near the speeds you should be getting. If you call tech support usually they'll come out and figure out what's wrong.

Seeing how your area just got LTE, expect it to be slow for awhile. When my area got it a year and a half ago, it was pretty sucky for the first few weeks. Most likely they are setting everything up. Give it some time and it should start getting faster.
If you do live in an area that has had LTE for more than a month and you still have this speed, you should call Verizon.

Mobile Network type is always on Edge?

It's been more than a month and it's stuck on Edge. Even when I go to the areas where I would have a strong signal of 4G, it doesn't change into 4G! This is really bugging me. My phone is S-ON, bootloader unlocked, and running Viper Amaze 1.7.0.1. Oh yeah, and T-Mobile is my carrier!

You need to check your apns and put in the correct t-mobile apn so it will give you the proper hspa+ rather than edge.

I usually set my phone to GSM Only when I go out, because it saves a lot of battery and still lets me stay connected to the internet.

Me too. Your friend's Verizon LTE was slow likely due to tower congestion. That's when too many people are on the tower and the bandwidth becomes tiny and people get slow data. I hope it doesn't happen to future T-mobile LTE,
My galaxy S6 is stuck on Edge as network type and it refuses to get out of GSM Only even if I try to set preferred network type. I can see the other network types displayed but when I press them it switches back immediately to GSM Only

Am I getting LTE?

Hey guys, I just ported over my number and switched over from Verizon to the One on T-Mobile. As I'm typing this, I'm still on my Verizon Galaxy S4 since I currently only have a temporary T-Mobile number until the switch is complete.
Anyhow, I don't believe I have LTE right now. My coworker has the One and was pulling down almost 30mbps and I can't even hit 2mbps. Play Store downloads are slow, etc.
I live in San Diego which has LTE. I have attached a couple screen shots of what I'm seeing. Am I connected to LTE? Could it be that I won't get it until my switch is complete? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I work for T-Mobile and also have the One and no your not on LTE. You are on hspa+. Kind of like 4g lite. When you are in a 4g LTE area, you will a tiny 4g then below it the letters LTE. Hope that helps. Update to the newest software update to get better signal out of the One
