Galaxy S Advance - Wifi wont switch on, problem with KIES - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My GF's phone - just bough used - after some time started having trouble with wifi. It just won't turn on. No connection issues, just the wifi function doesnt want to start.
We did factory reset then another from that boot menu including cashe wipe but no result.
Android is 4.1.2 (that neweest official i think) and theres the following message "kies does not support initializing" so not possible to reflash from Kies ? Usb debugging was enabled
Do you think it will be possible from that Odin (never used it before) ? Will it void warranty or any risk if I want just the official rom for her ?
If not it looks like I will have to return for warranty repair ?
Thanks

The widget stays at the dim green, and in the wifi settings, the switch goes to the 'on' position, but stays grey and says "turning on...' without doing anything. I have searched all over the internet looking for a fix, but everyone is saying i have to either flash custom firmware or root my phone. I dont want to do either. Has anyone found a fix that doesnt invlove either of those options, without having to send the phone back? Is there a driver or something i can use to fix it?
I have already done a factory reset andchecked all the dial pad codes. Please help.

Flash a factory ROM. But this isn't a "Bell" forum (assuming bell.ca).
A safe thing to do is to install Samsung Kies and use "Emergency Firmware Recovery" to re-flash factory stock. That will return you to stock and hopefully repair your wifi.
You can also flash a no-wipe factory ROM that corresponds to the specific build on your device.

Thank you very much for your advice.
would you by any chance know of a no-wipe ROM build for an SGH-i337M on BELL from Canada? That would help out a lot!

2ndly data cable don't work some time it does but most of the time it don't ,,, and when it get connected the only thing it does is charging ... but dont connect as a media device ... I had couple of things in my mind to root or flash the phone to fix the OS issues that I'm facing but ... the cable doesn't work at all ...
XDA is my last hope or I will put this ****ty phone in bin.
Factory reset first, if still the same then wipe and flash latest stock firmware with odin.

Bricked rooted Galaxy SII without CWM

Hello, let me describe my problem.
Some months ago i rooted my SGSII with stock rom to remove facebook and other unnecessary apps, but I didn't installed CWM. Yesterday I had a small accident. I dropped my phone on the wet floor and two problems occured. Power button didn't work and phone couldn't connect with network. After having dissasemblied and dried it inside, power button started working, but phone still couldn't connect. So I decided to make a full wipe. And here's come my problem. After wipe my Android 4.1.2 is able to go through initialisation process (language selection, wifi password etc.)
but after this it gets stuck and bootloop occur.
I tried to fix the phone using Odin, but after connecting to computer, it shows that device is unknown and Odin don't see it. I also tried to find way to install CWM via stock recovery, but it's propbably not possible.
Please, help me

Samsung Galaxy S2 doesn't recognize SIM-card anymore

My Samsung Galaxy S2 doesn't recognize my SIM-card anymore. I can't make calls or use (3G) internet.
Problems started after my phone was unresponsive while trying to pick up an incoming phone call. I had this before, but this time I shut down my phone with the power button. I can't make phone calls ever since or use (3G) internet. At first I could use wifi, but after a hard reset to factory defaults and a cache wipe I couldn't use wifi either.
If I look under 'About the Phone ... Status' (not completely sure what the English version exactly reads) it does not show the IMEI or IMEISV, nor the Wi-Fi MAC-address, nor the Bluetooth-address. The Wi-Fi MAC-address was shown before the reset to factory defaults.
I can't access my phone with (the freshly installed newest version of) Kies, although the 3 drivers install correctly (under Windows 7) when attaching my phone to my PC. I can access the phone via USB (and Windows Media Player).
I tried 2 other SIM-cards. They had the same problem. My own SIM-card works in another (older Nokia / non Smart) phone in the sense that I can make phone calls with it.
My phone has not been rooted.
Android version: 2.3.5.
Any help and solutions to this problem are much appreciated!

You can hope that it isn't a hardware problem and try to Root your phone and flash a custom ROM and see if the problem still is there.
Cleaning the SIM slot maybe is also worth a try.

[Q] S6 Edge keeps random rebooting after OTA update MM 6.0.1 update

Hey guys,
since 2-3 weeks i'm using the 6.0.1 official version which i got via OTA update (everything original on my phone, no root, no flashing any software) for my international S6 Edge.
First i noted havy battery drain and uninstalled a few apps. A weather widge forced the heacy battery drain and my phone worked fine.
Since 4 Days i have problems with random reboots. It started with some reboots a day and now it keeps rebooting after i unlocked sim card and want to use my phone. I managed to put my phone in flight mode and i were able to make a backup of my userdata via samsung smartswitch. I initialized the phone via the software and it flashed the newest version. After it finished it booted up and in the language selection screen it keeps rebooting.
I read about corrupted files due update from version 5.x to 6.0.1 and thought to wipe the phone and flash newest software via smartswitch would fix the problem but my phone is not usable anymore.
Maybe you have any advice for me?
Thanks for your further help!
greets
Bastian
Hi borth87
As it won't get worst, I suggest to flash a clean Stock version.
From SamMobile find the latest firmware for your device model.
After, for the download, I suggest you to use:
[TOOL] SamFirm - Samsung firmware downloader & checker
Just provide Model+Region and it will find you the newer firmware available. Please, before download, check the boxes: CRC32 & Decrypt
Flash the above using the lastest Odin v3.11.1
- Open Odin
- Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
- Add the firmware file downloaed to AP / PDA
- Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
- Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
Let us know your path.
Nice regards.

Thanks for the reply.
Will the flashing via odin touch the knox warranty?
greets,
Bastian
Hi B
No. Just flashing Sammobile firmwares via ODIN will NOT trip knox.
Have fun.

Hi.
I has the same problem. I tried to flash all of firmwares (always STOCK), but it's failed with ODIN all times. Samsung Smart Switch PC software say system repair succesfull (with emergency update repair), but the problem keep joke with me.
Phone don't repond without charger. With PC connection, i don't allow to run restore mode, only ODIN mode. With Wall charger adapter, i allow to run restore mode, odin mode, safe system mode, normal system, but i wiped cache, i do factory reset, i rebooted in bootloader and rebooted system as normal. When i run system in normal mode, language selection show up, and when i press next, phone reboot. When i run system in safe mode, i can select my language, and i can connect to my WiFi, but after i press NEXT at wifi list, phone reboot.
So in safe mode i able to do more one step, but system keep rebooting. Charging screen show battery at 89-90% all times, system start updating battery status from 1% to 100% (1 percent/ 1.5 sec).
Some times red-green-blue-purple rows show at Samsung logo and i got bootloop. Like when i put off my battery from my old phone.
