Xperia Z Ultra 4.4.4 Kitkat? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Does anyone have issues with Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with the Xperia Z Ultra C6833?
I just got this phone and I was wondering if I should hold off on updating as I read some people are having issues with it.
Thanks.

Thanks for that info, will try it!

I have a C6833 in Australia and have yet to receive the Kitkat update, it's still stuck on 4.3 for me.
any idea if I'm missing something? When I check system updates it says I'm up to date with the latest rom 14.2.A.1.136

If there's no problem with your phone, just wait for the 'real' firmware update which contains the X-Reality and 'real' Z Ultra UI, since the current one has the same UI as the Z. The .475 firmware supposed to fix the wake up problem (but for some people it remains) and screen oversensitivity issue but some reports drops in battery performance so if you don't have any problem with the current one, wait for confirmations from other users.
There's rumour that 4.3 update is scheduled in November or December this year for the Z Ultra, so don't expect it will come anytime soon.
Mine just updated to 475 when I connected to computer. I was hoping for Android 4.3. :crying:

what kind of stupid question is that dude ???!!!!
don't ask and update ! all data will be saved don't worry.
We already received 2 updates after **461. With latest **475 I got superior battery life with out Stamina mode.
Do it.
I updated to .475 and it fixed some problems I had with the notification lights not working at all, only working for charging. I think the update gave me slightly better battery life too.
Thx all.. good response

[Q] Update 4.2.2 for Indian Xperia Tablet Z.

Hello Guys,
I bought Sony Xperia Tablet Z last month in India. I've got the latest update and it is still version 4.1.2. I googled and found out that 4.2 version is already available for Xperia Tablet Z. However it says no new updates available. Anyone has any information when sony is going to release 4.2.2 for Tablet Z in India?

Yes, many regions got the update.
I have model# SGP351
It is the model that is made for the US that works with ATT and T-Mobile. Was released about 3 weeks ago
No update to 4.2.2
4.1.2 is installed no over the air update and no update if I connect to Sony PC companion. I have had the tablet for about 2 weeks now and nothing. I check everyday.
Person in this thread same thing

That's pity. Sony has tweeted about the rollout few weeks ago. I asked in the customer care but they don't have any information.
If you check here http://www.sonymobile.com/in/software/tablets/xperia-tablet-z/ you can see that the upgrade has been released on 5th August.

Utra Z, Google Play Edition or Sony unlocked ?

They are both about the same price, so which is the more desirable/better version ?
Lets throw in a poll while we're at it..............
This article basically says that text, icon, and font size (which are very important factors to me) are larger on the Google Play edition, but the Sony version has better software optimization for this device.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/20/5229978/sony-xperia-z-ultra-z-ultra-google-play-edition-review
Which one runs graphics intensive games more smoothly ?
Tough call - totally depends on your personal preference. I'd go with the Sony version as it's almost as clean as the stock android and I actually like their walkman, album app (& album widget) better than the stock versions.
Sony version. You can flash the GPe ROM on the Sony version, but you can't flash a Sony ROM on the GPe version (yet). The stock Sony ROM is very good.

All/most 4.4 Phones work with wallet from what i understand, certainly the stock Sony one does. I have it set up on mine right now (haven't the opportunity to use it yet but maybe tomorrow for lunch I can try.

We may be able to flash a duel boot to allow sony rom and GPE rom soon.
Go for the Sony one. Like LordManhattan said, you can use GPE on it if you wish. And trust me, Sony's optimisations on stock rom, are better.

Indeed. I love AOSP, but Sony did a great job with their version, and that's why I've mostly been using stock since I got it last September.

Maybe this has been repeated ad nauseam already but the Sony edition will do Tmobile LTE right? That's concerning thing to me since the GPE is the north american version. Or have I got this all wrong?
Sony edition being the C6833 of course.

Sony sell both the c6806 and c6833 LTE versions, the GPe only comes in the c6806 flavour
The GPe will get the update to 4.4.3 well before Sony release it for their own phones, but once released for the GPe it should only be a day or two before it's ported to the Sony hardware - as long as there isn't too big a change to the kernel.

Flash latest Sony FTF
Unlock BL
Flash boot.img of the rom you want (extracted from the zip file)

Just read the guides, all the info you need is there, it can just be a bit daunting at first. Those instructions are minimalistic and are a reference so you can see the steps needed, there is of course more to it than that but you can see what you need to look into
Nvm, pretty much set on the Sony version.
Thanks everyone!

OTA will be a bit slower than Sony PC Companion update..as sony will roll out the update through PC companion then to OTA
As for user who have been ROOT on their 5.0 C5 Ultra devices ..please bear in mind that if u prefer to LOST ROOT then u can go ahead and update to this 5.1 version. If u prefer to keep on ROOTED ,please don't update to this 5.1 version as it will break the ROOT.Please wait for @bigrammy to get the 5.1 ROOT fix out. Thanks (Patience Is Vertue)
Okay, I have finished updating and use it for a bit. Either Storage, RAM or both read/write access speed seems to have improved, as a result saving photo/media/downloads and getting in/out of an app feels quite a bit faster or at least more responsive than before.

Can anyone post about phone screenshot?
Just flashed the Italian version with flashtool on my C4. The biggest change in performance must be the app opening speed. It also uses less RAM, I even saw 1gb+ free at one point.
Got a Geekbench of 800 single, 4164 multi. Which is normal I think, 49460 Antutu.
Here are the screens.

Ota update to marashmellow

I am on rooted Android 5.1.1 Sony xperia z2 d6503, now I got ota marashmellow 6.0 update file of 974mb,.if I update it, can my root exit on marashmellow or not. If not then how can I root 6.0.
You will loose root and there is no way to root it on 6.0 (unless you unlock bootloader)... So best way is flash pre-rooted version from your existing 5.1.1...
You can't update while you have root and/or recovery, however you can download the update but once it's done the update will fail because you have modified system.
You can flash a pre-rooted firmware via recovery to get the latest software update and maintain root access and recovery.
Until now there is no expoilt to root directly.
I got the same thing just this morning.
I was wondering about the same issue.
This ota is not the beta version released earlier i presume?
And is there a prerooted rom of this exact ota from Sony?.
I have seen a lot of good works on MM for Z2 but for sm reason i opted to wait fo the official sony version.

Before the the update roll over OTA it's released via Xperifirm one week before.
By the way, you can even make your own pre-rooted firmware by yourself via PRFcreator!
