SPECIAL THANKS
Special thanks to the entire LiquidSmooth team for building this awesome ROM. I just compile it from source for this device and the ROM would not be here without their dedication and hard work to provide it.
Special thanks also once again to @rogersb11 and @cyril279 for their guidance and pushing me to learn more about how all of this works. They are amazing guys and have been very helpful along my journey to doing this kind of thing.

ROM: LiquidSmooh v3.2 Beta
Android Version: 4.4.4
Kernel: CyanogenMod
Built By: TheGeekyNimrod

Thanks for your continued work for our old device

DELETED

Reserved because I can.

You guys are going to like this... it's amazingly (duh) "smooth" but stable. Really like what I've seen so far.

Has all the features yet doesn't seems to slow down. If there is one thing that i miss from the other rom, it is the ability to have full screen contact when a call comes through. For now am sticking to this rom..... Hope I do.

Keep in mind that version 3.2 is considered still in beta. Though I have to say I've been decently impressed with it on my S3. It's my current daily on that device.
I'll be updating it weekly, or maybe earlier if there are major changes. So I would suspect that features and overall smoothness and performance will improve as it goes on.

Ummm...don't try to install the Viper driver in the Equalizer settings. Put me in a headlock from whence I had to clean install again.

I'll have to play with that today. It may be selecting the wrong driver, or may not be supported by this device. I'll admit I didn't even touch it when I flashed this build. I can't remember if I installed drivers with it on my S3 or not.
I'll do a factory reset and look into it today and see if it can be usable. If not, then I'll get rid of it in the next update.
Thanks for the tip!

Okay, I just tested it myself and it installed the driver and rebooted with no problem (see attached screenshot).
Instead of choosing to install the driver when the box first pops up (after going to Settings>Equalizer) I chose the dropdown menu and install driver from there. I also selected battery saving. It installed and rebooted without any issue.
Perhaps try installing the driver that way instead of the initial popup that first appears.

Must say when I first flashed the rom, i did install the sound drivers from the equalizer without any issues. It worked fine for me. Even after a second flash.

The ViPER is just an awesome equalizer built off DSP manager. Works great for the S3 I know. Didn't test it on the S2. It's running a different ROM built by some Rogers guy
I've seen so many conflicting things about including Gapps with a ROM. I've seen it's okay for stock based but not AOSP, not okay for either, and okay for both.
I honestly think that minimal should be included with a ROM. At the very least Play and Gmail.

Still not seeing anything about EQ, just gain/amplification for buds/speakers/mic

Right, my same issue actually. I can include it easily just don't want to do anything illegal lol. Working on my ROM and N2 kernel this evening. Might mess with dual boot support support again for the S2 at some point this week. Learned many new things in last couple of weeks

That's what I'm talking about. Basically doubles the output sound volume. I don't use EQ as one wrong tweak and the sound goes to crap lol

True. I used to be a sound engineer and worked with a guy in venues around the southeast. So I'm not scared of tweaking the EQ a bit haha.

A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it

A Note about the Team OctOs GApps
We in Team OctOs believe in choices. We believe in leaving the fundamental decisions about your phone to you.
In that spirit, Team OctOs gives you options for your GApps experiences. While any ODEX'ed GApps package should work, we offer you the choice of using some of the same GApps packages that we use ourselves, and leave the choice up to you.
You can find our Team OctOs GApps packages here, and break down into the following types:
GPe - Google Experience
Regular GPe GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced GPe GApps
AOSP
AOSP GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced AOSP GApps
The Dalvik-Enhanced packages are NOT ART compatible. If you plan to run ART, don't use those.

I have a question...i am looking for a 4.3 rom to work with my Galaxy Gear....if i were to flash this Rom and then install the Samsung apps APK to get the Gear Manager app would that work or do i definetly need a Touchwiz rom?
Cant wait to give it a spin!

Thank you for the ROM, and for the no B.S. 1st post!
Just making presence known. I'm currently building for every carrier and we will have a new built that will for sure work for sprint and verizon, but might also work for all other 7 carriers too.
DevBox is ticking away. I think I'm 3 carriers from being done.

thanks im flashing right now so ill give you an update!
Everything works. We've been sneakily testing it in conjunction with the VZW Build.
3G EVDO Rev.A, eHRPD, and LTE all work.
GPS, Bluetooth, etc all work.
And yes, the Aroma Installer can be used to flash GApps and/or Kernels without redoing the entire ROM (though that is also an option).
quick little update
camera works
gps locks quick fast
3g and LTE
SMS and MMS
rom seems snappy quick and responsive
flashed to remove octopus on lock screen worked
sdcard mounts and is read
no gallery issues

@agat63 has made the kernel for us, but doesn't release it separately. Currently, he is working on his TW kernel and will turn his attention back this way when he has the chance.
The stock kernel isn't a slouch! I suggest trying it. Remember, the installer package can be used to switch kernels.

We don't include it, and I don't use it, but no reason it shouldn't work of it works on other AOSP ROMs. What do you mean by "wonky"? Meaning showing low?
2 bars for -88dB is pretty fair I think.

You know what, I just reread the OP. I guess I'll change this. What Samsung Apps are compatible with this? For instance, if I so desired could I pull the phone/dialer from a TW Rom and plug it into this with the stock and/or any other custom kernel?

Q&A
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don't I have root access after installing OmniROM?
A: OmniROM does not have an official, prebuilt root method yet, so you'll just need to flash SuperSU in recovery and you'll have 100% working root access. SuperSU can be found here: SuperSU
Q: Where is <insert feature here>, like CM/AOKP/PA/etc have??
A: Omni is still very early in development, but moving at an incredibly fast rate. New feature, bug fixes, and device support are added just about daily. Check it out here: OmniROM Gerrit Review for the latest and greatest
Q: How do I start/stop screen recording?
A: Volume UP + Power will start screen recording. Simply drag the notification bar down and click the button to stop.
Q: HALP NFC doesn't work!!
A: We know.

builds up now sorry sorry
I've had Omni on my flo for a while now and love it, I got excited when I started seeing jf come up in gerrit and was wondering when this day would come. Thank you for working towards supporting this device!
edit
Just did a fresh install of this ROM. Couple issues I've already come across..
My screen after a restart won't go to sleep after the specified time or by pushing the power/sleep button.
Not sure if this is related, but I have enabled active display and got an FC error upon my first notification and had to battery pull.
Update: After turning off Active display I can now put my phone to sleep without issue.
So... I've read the 'this is what custom roms should be' press release three times now, and I still have no idea what differentiates Omni from other ROMs. Is it a custom interpretation of AOSP code, like Cyanogenmod, or features ladled over Cyanogen code, like most other ROMs? Does it offer any of the fiddly knobs of Paranoid Android, or is this going to be a feature-avalance like AOKP or PAC?
I know things are still early days for Omni, but what am I looking forward to when I flash your ROM?

OmniROM is based on straight AOSP code, if you look in the source on github, you will see that VERY few repositories are actually forked from AOSP at all (put external in the search bar for Omni's public repos). Omni is designed to have many features and options that are all able to be toggled by the user. Omni is about choices, and giving the end-user the choices to make the ROM function the way that THEY want it to. 99% of features added to OmniROM come with a toggle to turn it on or off, hence "choices" :good:
The changelog pretty much gives a breakdown of all the features, because since the first 4.4 build, i did not make any releases until we fixed some major issues. This ROM is just about 100% stable. I say "just about" because if I reported my actual experience, which is literally ZERO issues, on nexus 5 and galaxy s 4, people would hang me and start bombarding me with "well what about this error I have that no one else does".
Best advice, make a backup and flash it. if you don't like it, then just restore your backup. no harm no foul. but i'm willing to bet you stick on this for a bit. There are a ton of features that are unique to OmniROM that other ROMs do NOT have.
also, pretty HUGE status update will be coming tonight (hopefully) as well
I'm freaking stoked I've been wanting to try OmniROM!

I've been hoping that someone would bring this over to us so I could try it out. Been running it most of the day today with almost no issues. Haven't really had a chance to play with it a lot, but so far it's been pretty solid. It did lock up on me once when switching to ART (using the Banks gapps), but after reflashing with PA gapps and sticking with Dalvik I haven't had any issues. Battery life is solid, and having the extra kernel tweaks with the built in kernel is much appreciated. Looking forward to the updates, thanks!

Will this rely heavily on Xposed for customization, or is there an Aroma style solution in the works?

No, Xposed Frameworks mods will be up to the user to install and implement as they see fit. Generally, I think Omni has a fairly good amount of features already implemented, all with toggles to activate/deactivate, but as always, Xposed will be able to offer a little bit extra of things that we won't support out-of-the-box. I would be wary of using Xposed though, as you will need to ensure that the mods you are installed are updated for 4.4 Aroma will NEVER be implemented into OmniROM source, as it is not 100% stable and is not supported by all devices that Omni supports, and therefore would cause serious, serious issues. I'm sure people will make their own kangs of this eventually and there may be one with Aroma installer, but this will not ever implement that.
Also, some things to look forward to in the near future:
Omni File Explorer - OmniROMs native root file manager
native root support (you will no longer need to flash SuperSU in recovery)
OpenDelta - Omni's OTA Updater
NFC fix *properly*
Multi-Window
a big surprise in the next few hours

I would be VERY cautious of using ART as of now, it is still highly experimental in AOSP source and google needs to make a lot of improvements before I would use it standard
Thanks for all these update, it is greatly appreciated.. looking forward to the surprise tonight!
OMG we have Omni! Thanks so much! Let you know how everything's working tomorrow... glad to see your from Philly too :thumb:
Could disabling the 3-dot overflow be possible in a future update since this device has a capacitive menu key?

[ROM] [KK 4.4.4] VANIR AOSP & COMMMOTIO

OK so before we start let me make something abundantly clear, I am posting this up here on behalf of the Vanir AOSP team, as their ROM is awesome, and it took me longer than the first google to locate it etc etc. There is a link at the bottom of how to find them on G+ and communicate directly with the team. THIS POST ONLY TO CONVEY FILE LOCATIONS FOR OTHERS WHO WISH TO TRY THIS ROM. I will keep it uptodate so that anyone on the S3 can get to it.

Vanir was founded on the premise of performance tuning Android. It is based on AOSP, but include features (many of which have been rewritten to be more efficient) from other ROMs.
The webkit, chromium, and skia are aosp/master merged with codeaurora, with linaro fixes on top.
BY LINARO, it means "-O3 -fstrict-aliasing".... not just switching toolchains. At Team Vanir, THEY GO HARD.
Youtube video of 4.4.2 (old)
Features
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active

improved notification handling (active display & halo are in review also)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
additional quicksetting tiles

okay, I was just told ..
Very good rom, I used to try. :good:
Excuse my ignorance, but what's the COMMOTIO ?
Do you have a stable release? Which version should I use, which is stable and there is no problem?

Commotio is a second rom built on the base of Vanir AOSP. Essentially it is the same underneath, but some people prefer the extras it has. Install either ROM and see which one you prefer yourself. AFAIK all the latest releases are stable.

It was me who reported not working i9305's version
I tried once to grab a logcat and it didn't work, terminal continously waiting for device, while phone was looping Samsung logo. Is there any other way to do it? I will try anyway, maybe this time it will work...
Or.. would a logcat with a custom kernel help a little bit? Even if it booted there was not working cell network. However, then at least I could log anything
Apart from that.. What do you think about a feature to "swipe notification/app from recents to left to open it in floating window"? I think it gives great multitasking possibilities, somehow replacing halo (in my opinion).

You need to grab a log with adb
Just like when you root your phone with a USB cable to your computer... but type adb logcat

i tried both but apart from some visual differences I could not find any difference.. commotio B70 is still little unstable . i have applied a theme and the in call UI is crashing.. Vanir is comparatively more stable.
Any chance you could use a different naming convention for the nightly Commotio Roms only the past 4 or so that I have downloaded all have the same filename which makes it difficult to identify which is the newer one in CWM when installing and I want to keep the older ones in case something doesn't work. (and before someone replies with a smart comment about deleting or renaming them via a file manager app manually, I am aware thank you but sometimes you just want to flash...) Possibly add the date of compilation into the filename? Thanks.
Hi this rom is omni or cyanogen

Ehh.. I've tried to do it, but I got no log. The sad truth is that I couldn't get any logcat until the phone boots When it boots with my other configuration, logcat worked.
So I think I have to retreat. But why on earth it works great on i9300, but not on i9305? :/

Just saw 'atomic derpage'
Downloading, will get the answer in a while.
#EDIT
Yeah, finally it works! Pretty damn probability was really high today
Now it's time for testing. Maybe it's not THAT feature-packed like other roms here, but vanir definitely has its own taste
#EDIT2
Few interesting things that might be added to vanir:
- statusbar's clock needs a date next to it (not to feel lonely)
- slimrom's heads up (because they are taking heads up experience to a completely new level) with an option to launch it in floating window (just imagine these multitasking possibilites!!!) and reasonable 'disable on lock screen' feature
- why not to extend multitasking possibilities more and more? https://gerrit.paranoidandroid.co/#/c/4219/
- these are less spectacular, however still might be useful: adding ios-like carrier label in statusbar, battery qs tile showing whether you are charging with AC or USB, removing unneeded keyguard test activites (why would we need something useless?)
I know that vanir isn't such kind of a ROM that you ask for something and simply get it. However, these pointed changes may only improve its greatness and probably encourage more people to use it and stick with it. Also, you developers should feel the difference after applying some of these features

FAQ
FIRST AND FOREMOST
HOW TO PROPERLY POST A BUG - Guide to logcats, dmesg and last_kmsg.
Coming in and saying "XYZ isn't working", isn't as helpful as some might think. Even if your intentions are good i.e., making this rom better, I (and any developer for that matter)needs more info. Logcats are the way to do this. If it's a kernel panic, last_kmsg is where it's at. Without supplying me with proper logs I may not be able to help and you may be ignored. Sorry to be harsh but we all have lives outside of xda(hopefully) and time is pretty precious.
GPS isn't working! HELP!
While it works for me, this has been a known issue on LG phones and AOSP roms since I owned my LGOG. First thing to try is to restore your stock backup, get a lock for a few minutes then restore the rom. The only other issue may be with your particular version of GAPPS. Sometimes Google Services can act funny with location services. I use PA Nano and have had zero issues with GPS.
Why won't NFC work?
This is a bug for pretty much every rom right now. We are all working on a fix and as soon as one is available, I will rebuild and reupload the rom.
My 64gb+ sd card won't work!!
While exFAT is usually preferred over FAT32, exFAT has been hit or miss so USE A COMPUTER to format your sd card to FAT32 if exFAT doesn't work for you. DO NOT USE TWRP OR STOCK LG - USE A COMPUTER!!!!

Vanir. I posted that awhile ago and the vanir team is fully supporting us via their server and google+ page. They've moved onto lollipop but I'm still tinkering with kit kat.
Only other rom I'd like to get going is Omni but it's a much different beast.

It recognizes mine - have you read the FAQ(Second post)? Even if it was formatted as FAT32, we've been finding that it's best to copy your card to your pc, format it again on a computer then put everything back. This has been an issue with switching roms and using sd cards, even if you haven't experienced it yet. Remnants left behind will do everything from not allowing it to be read to interferring with other aspects of the system.

Thanks for that awesome rom, super fast and solid as a rock, full of features, some that I never see on other rom like otg usb notification unmount, it's the best rom that i tried on my tab pro, continue your great job
Thank you so much for making a thread. Ive had your first build for a while. To update should i just flash on top of temasek and wipe dalvik?

I did that and a got problem with head up
With clean install result is perfect
Thanks, works well. Some quirks:
Xposed doesn't work, bootloop even with no modules. I've tried several times. If you try take a backup first, the only way out of the bootloop is restore or reflash the ROM, You can dirty flash.
I can't get the app bar to auto hide. Turned it off.
Clear all in recents still kills everything, no matter the setting for leave foreground task.
What is up with the halo around a heads up notification? My phone does it as well, using a custom cm12.1 with addons similar to this ROM. Yuk.
Overall a great ROM, fc issues gone I have to refute the Titanium advice, use it all the time and is the only way I can bear swapping ROMs so easily. I have no problems with it unless going from Android 5.x to 4 since the files systems aliases are different. Use restorecon if you do this.

I wouldn't install xposed on such a feature heavy rom. It would be fine on cm or euphoria but temasek has a lot of stuff. There is bound to be conflicts when trying to add features to an already feature packed rom.

Thanks, each to his own. I rather like XToast
This is the first ROM that won't even boot after flashing the Xposed zip. Including the previous Temasek. Just thought I would mention it, perhaps save someone the bother.
Cheers.

I've just discovered titanium doesn't work. I know it was in the first post but was able to restore all apps no problem. Now it can't see any. That's a deal breaker. Back to cm.

I used TB without a problem. This is a very smooth ROM. I had a few small problems with Resurrection, this one seems perfect! Even the occasional slow down or freeze is gone.
Thanks for the great work, vasumit!
Cheers,
Rich
Flashed this today to get rid of that damn touchwiz lag...Works good so far.
I can't get screen cast to work...is it working for anyone else.?
Wow another ROM from your hand I am currently using your Resurrection ROM and besides the play services stopping now and then its a great ROM.
I am a bit confused by the fact that you are now on your third or fourth ROM for the 320. Is it like an evolution? So this Temasek is then the new best thing? What should be my strategy in choosing amongst your great ROMs?

I tried all released of the 4 roms of vasumit, and i think temasek is the better one
For stability and performance also it as more features, he give us a great choice depend what your looking for, but you should give a try to temasek, I'm sure you'll apreciate it.
Now make your choice
Guess I will give this ROM a try then

Rich

Never mind found it.
Great ROM for the Sm T320!! Tried all of your ROM's and like this one the best so far. Love the options we have. Regarding the processor what do you feel is the best settings to have chosen?? FIOPS a good option here?? What would clock this thing the best??

Depend if for you it's performance or battery life is the most important
Did you saw thoses threads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/ref-to-date-guide-cpu-governors-o-t3048957
http://androidmodguide.blogspot.ca/p/io-schedulers.html
Maybe it will help you for choosing the good Governor and scheduler for you
Many combinations can be done,
Me I'm using smartmax and sio,
Run smooth, good battery life
But not the best benchmark score
Stock setup interactive and row give best performance
I hope that will help you
