[Q]killing apps with back-button. Need to change the Timeout - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI,
I use the latest (nightly) PAC-ROM for my i9100. Android Version 4.4.4
After unlocking the developer options I activated the option to kill applications then long-pressing the soft-back-button.
But the timeout is to high. I have to press the back button for approx 2 seconds!
On my last ROM this was like 500ms and the workflow was much better with it, as I make multible fast clicks and have to close apps really fast some times.
Can anyone show me a way how I can change this timeout ?
I know there are apps that can do that, but then possible I just want to change a value to keep my ROM slim. Also I have already an Xposed module, that gives me the torch on long pressing home and I dont know how app doing same stuff interfere together. Dont want to risk unnecessary wake-locks and so on.
Is there a way to simply change a value to manage this? Does anyone know a good Tweaking Tool, where I can costumize this hidden/expert settings ? (the tweak tool should let every settings untouched, unless I change it in that app)
Thx for any help.

I think you should post this on the PAC thread... But just to answer you:
Try going in Settings > Accesibility > Touch and Hold Delay...
I don't know if that feature is in your current ROM, since I'm on Slim... But better check it out...
And next time, post questions on Q&A Section please. Follow the rules and stuff... :good:

I tried changing htat, but it has no effect on long-press-time then killing apps.
Isnt there a way to simply change an value like itz possible in regedit/windows ?
I deactivated the boot-animation of the PAC-ROM the same they, just edited a textfile.
If someone knows there this value is, that would be great.

ps: I already posted a request on PAC-forum, but they are not active there so much

[APP][HD2][v1.2.1]Camera lock button

Camera lock button
Yesterday I saw video from Windows mobile 7 showing dedicated camera button working even if the phone was locked. Today I bring this feature for HD2 on WM6.5.
Update:
7.9.2010 - I've uploaded version 1.1 see FAQ.
9.9.2010 - Version 1.2 brings support for CHT.
13.9.2010 - Version 1.2.1 fixes loading issue.
What is it and what it does
This little application starts phone's camera when user press home button when the phone is locked.
It is aware of proximity sensor status, so it won't start camera in your pocket.
It won't do anything if pda is not locked.
If your pda is locked and display is switched off, you must click home button twice.
Current limitations
Only for HD2, because of proximity sensor hardware.
Only works with original non-customized lockscreen, because unlocking is performed by sending mouse move events.
v1.1 has unlock gesture learning ability.
Planned features
Camcorder on windows button.
Support for pin.
Installation
Download cab file and run it on your device.
If you want application application to start with your device use camera_lock_button_with_autostart.cab otherwise you'll have to start it manually.
You must turn off this application before uninstallation or reinstallation.
FAQ
Q: Nothing happens when I start the application?
A: That's normal behaviour. Lock your device and try to click home button.
Q: How do I turn it off?
A: Run application again.
Q: How do I start it with device startup?
A: Download cab that ends with '_autostart' or add shortcut do your \Windows\StartUp folder.
Q: I'm getting "This application is not designed for your device!" message.
A: This application is only for HTC HD2. If you have HD2 then there's something wrong with your OEMINFO value. Check "\Windows\ModelName.txt" whether it contains 'HD2' or 'LEO' string.
Q: What is licence for icon?
A: I used free icon from dryicons.com .
Q: Why installer ignores location I picked for installation?
A: NEVER EVER install this application on Storage Card, always use device.
Q: Is there source code available?
A: Nope. Last time I published something under GPL everyone was ignoring it (GPL) completely.
Following FAQ applies only to v1.1
Q: How to learn it unlock gesture?
A:
Start it with shortcut named "Camera lock button toggle learning".
Lock device.
Make sure proximity sensor is not covered.
Press "windows" hw button. "Learning mode!" text should appear on screen.
Unlock device.
Done. Message informing you about success should appear. Learning mode is now switched off automagically.
You can delete "Camera lock button toggle learning" shortcut from start menu.
Q: Why isn't there autostart version of v1.1?
A: Because it needs beta testing and I don't want you to brick your device.
Q: Do I need to learn it gesture if I'm using unmodified lockscreen?
A: No. If there isn't learned gesture it uses default gesture from v1.0.
Q: Where is stored learned gesture?
A: In file \Windows\camera_lock_button_gesture.bin
(You will be asked if you want to remove it at the end of uninstallation.)
Q: What about unlocking the device with password?
A: If device is locked after camera application is closed, it won't be security hole. Maybe next time I'll implement it.
Changelog
v1.2.1:
Fixes forgetting of learned gesture after application was switched off.
v1.2:
Support for CHT.
v1.1:
Volume buttons are working again.
Gesture learning (= maybe S2U2 compatible).
Setup dll, so you don't need to make sure application is not running before uninstallation.
v1.0:
Initial release.
Compatible lockscreens
WM6.5 default (Confetti lock screen)
Co0kie's Home Tab lockscreen [worked for me, not worked for Guus_]
Maybe others but nobody informed me about it.
Not working with S2U2, I contacted author of S2U2 about it.
Reserved for future use.
Excelent work.....!!!
THX!!!

GREAT idea, but I/we need to get this to work with Co0kie Home Tab. Can we expect CHT support in the future?
Thanks for sharing!
Why isn't it working with CHT? Different unlock screen? Different camera application?
Also I noticed it conflicts with htc volume control, right now by I'm betatesting fix.
Would it be possible to make compatible with Chris's Lockscreen [middle]? It puts the slider halfway down the screen. I HATE having the lock slider at the top!
Thanx for all your hard work MilaCzeque

Yes, yes, yes ++. A lot people use Co0kie HT.
will you add future support for su2u?
Very cool idea, I'll have to switch back to the default lockscreen to try it.
Though, it would be cool if the X/Y values for the mouse event could be set in a file, for those of us with customized lock screens.
Edit: got around that by editting my LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr file.
Though, it would be nice if we could program in a "macro" to type in our passwords.
Cheers!

Very good tool, this is a subscribe
+1 on the configurable lockslider position (middle, left, right, and Y coord pixels), this would make your tools compatible with virtually any sliding lockscreen.
BTW, will the home button return to its normal function (display homescreen ) when the screen is not locked? I use it very often for that purpose.
Gave it some review/press here: http://windowsphonehacker.com/app_review_hd2_camera_lock_button-09-06-10.php
Also a video of it in action:

Great job!
The ideas that continually out and on to the HD2 is still amazing!! I really like the progression of this feature. very genus to include the sensor with button activation!!

Yes different lock/unlock screen. CHT is the most used application for the HD2 I think.
CHT support would be great!
bumpity bump on cht. that'd probably be worth a few bucks from me ;-)
could you publish source code?
YES, CHT support is very much needed with the ability of using HD Mini unlock screen. i'll definitely donate for this feature once you have configured it to work with my HD2

New version is out, see 1st post. It's a bit experimental so be careful and have fresh backup of your device in case anything bad happens.

Is 1.1 compatibile with CHT lockscreen (manila style)?

Quick tip for rom users

If you cant stand that knock off is gone on your custom rom that you have happily flashed on your g2... ive noticed alot of people asking so here is a few solutions if you already dont have one! Got a better way? Suggest it! Will edit if necessary.
1. If you dont use google now from your home button swiping up... download the app in the link below!
{FOR CYANOGENMOD USERS} Your rom already comes with a toggle for this... accessible from SETTINGS>>INTERFACE>>QUICK LAUNCH SHORTCUTS... obviously slide up and set it as "Screen off" towards the bottom of the list.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en <<
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you have that downloaded you can now swipe up like you would normally access google now... it will now give you the option to set a default for the screen off application, do it and now you can swipe up from anywhere on your device (Even the lockscreen) to turn off your screen without having to touch the buttons on the back! (Now i noticed when i was running an AOKP rom this didnt work every time as due to the fact every time it would shut off it would turn right back on... if thats the case for you try out option 2!
2. [YOU WILL NEED THE SAME APPLICATION AS IN OPTION 1] This is a simple bit, but your rom might not have this capability... if you go to your navbar settings you should be able to enable long press actions for buttons... select any button you'd like and set the long press for the application you have downloaded!
3. [YOU WILL NEED THE SAME APPLICATION AS IN OPTION 1] And lastly your third option... this should be if neither option 1 nor 2 work for your custom rom which they should... This one however is not easily accesible from any screen on your device only your home screen... first things first download that application above, now you download a launcher such as Apex launcher which i would reccomend because it allows this without paying for the full version and i tend to like apex alot better, from there go straight into your apex settings and go to behaviour... check out those gestures and set that application as your gesture! Nova launcher's is pretty self explanitory if you have prime. after that your good to go! Easy accesable screen off techniques you cant live without on the g2, hope this helps some of you!
I have another idea. Use GMD gesture control and use the edge of your screen to turn off the phone, or even double tap the nav bar (the app is ridiculously useful)
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
Another option for CM Roms is to use the app below which gives you the option to Knock Off from anywhere on the entire home screen when using Apex or Nova and then have a double tap set or any other gesture you like up to execute this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cillinsoft.scrnoff
thanks alot. due to that reason so many people dont want to jump custom rom as like me
GMD Gesture Control - > define 3 finger swipe down gesture anywhere to turn screen off. There you go, most comfortable solution.

Permission to add this?
My main reason for loving Knockon (and not jumping to any rom) is the wake up feature though. This is the first time that I have an android device where I don't rape the power button just to look at how pretty my lockscreen or launcher is.

[Q] Simplicity v5: Disable lockscreens and volume key wake up screen?

Hi.
First of all, thanks to abhi922 for this great ROM. It is really light and cute.
I've read the thread in Development section, and I know how difficult it was to implement the lockscreens in this ROM, so it can be a little ironic that I want to disable them entirely, and even remove them to get a little more space. I can not find a way to disable them from the Simplicity options, it just let me choose between locks. It is possible to get rid of the them?
The other question is whether there is any way that the volume buttons do not wake up the screen. I use a lot the music player (PowerAmp), and I don't like having to turn off the screen every time I go up or low volume. I`ve read that PowerAmp don't do this, but in my case, it does.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have activated the toggle in the status bar. But is there anything more ... permanent? Do not know if it's normal, but I have to use the lockscreen toggle every time my phone restarts. It seems to work much like the "no lock" app: does not disable the lockscreen, only prevents it activates.
So I wanted to know if it is possible to get rid of the lockscreen, or is that Android simply does not allow it, and now I have to spend the rest of my life (or more like... phone life) inactivated it every time I turn on the phone. I know it is not that bad, but well... yep.
Ok, I think I've made it (at least disable screen wake from volume keys, for lockscreen I'm still using "no lock" until I find another way to get rid of it)..
I found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086526) and downloaded the file in the first post, but doesn't work for me. It seems that disabled lockscreen and avoid volume keys to wake up screen are not compatible. You have to choose one -_-
But reading the rest of the thread get me this idea and it works:
I've open /system/usr/keylayout with my root explorer and edited all the files that have VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN on them (in my case, bcm_headset.kl, qwerty.kl, sec_key.kl and sec_keypad.kl).
The thing is that you have to delete the word WAKE from each VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN that you find.
Mi lockscreen is desactivated (with "no lock" app) and my screen doesn't wake up anymore with the volume keys AT ALL
Thanks to DocRambone and aydc for the ideas. And to Hitesh2626 for your attention.

Remap App Switch To Menu

So ive been search around for a while now on how to fix this. And to anyone that chimes in and says why do you need the menu button obviously you don't use older apps, the new touch button on the screen is a huge annoyance especially since i've used my phones this way since my first S1. Regardless this is how i want it and so do many other people.
Currently this is only for a rooted phone
I have figured out how to remap the left soft key from the App Switcher/Multi window over to the old style menu key. Instructions for that can be found here
But now i don't have any way of switching to my currently open apps, after remapping the left key, the longpress now takes you to search. and long pressing on the home button also takes you to another variation of the search (both i dont use nor want). I want to be able to remap my left softkey on longpress to open up currently open apps (APP_SWITCH) and it would be nice if long pressing on Home could open the Task Manager as it did on my S3.
As far as i can tell editing of the longpress function is done via a Policy edit. Read about that HERE
Keep in mind that post is from 2014 so i have no idea if the internal code is still being handled the same way, i couldn't even find that file on my S6, but i did find a file called SEPOLICY in my root folder using ROOT EXPLORER. Do any of you know more about this and how I can go about changing this? im sure its a code level adjustment. Thanks
Long-press home button can be controlled without root easily.
Check out this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spada.nowgesturetweaksfree
I use the long-press home to get to my last used app.
I wonder if I can remap my buttons to launch any other apps.. Will have to tinker around a bit.

lol f off
If you guys use Dropbox, how do you get to the menu with SORT, etc.. without a menu key. This is making me crazy. I'm using nova launcher and there is no floating menu key. ????
The problem is if not every developer uses it, it's inconsistent.
It often helps if the options etc. In apps are on the top, so you don't have to fidget with your phone to reach the top or use two hands.
The menu button on every app is positioned somewhere else, so I find the op wanting it justified.
All in one gestures let's you remap every key, for some odd reason on my s4 I can remap the menu key, but on the S6 for some odd reason the option of the menu key has vanished in the same app:what:
Sent from my SM-G925F using XDA Free mobile app
Hi pal. Hope it helps. Make 254 button remap, then install nova launcher, in tab gestures select long press menu and then recent app. Profit! Now once tapped you have menu button, long pressed - recent apps.
So, i made it, i use it. It works.

Custom shortcut

Couple simple questions:
1. Create shortcut/toggle to enable/disable Dont keep Activitiy from dev options
Or for that matter, create any shortcut to anything in dev options...
This is would be very helpful as im using a combo "dont keep activities and Limit background process: no background processes" as sort of game booster (and i have read about Dont keep activities being bad because how android handles memory but i cant unsee diffrence it makes when running something heavy liker max detail Titan Quest)
I guess terminal command or name of activity would be enough ?
Samsung S8 no root on Android 8.0 but this doesn't matter if this will not possible i will get it done asap root and at least up to 8.1...
2. Flashlight launch from hardware button press or anywhere else then Quick Settings which is very unpractical
I suspect it might be impossible on oreo but root should not...
Thank you for any insights
