[MODs][ND7]MODS for ROOTED ND7 4.4.2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

MODS for ND7 Newly Rooted Users
Hey guys,
I know people just started rooting ND7 4.4.2 and some MODS will be requested.. I am making this thread to keep them all in one place, kind of a one stop shop..
Please post any request and IF I can full fill them I will..
I will be updating the OP with directions on how to apply these to a rooted phone..
NOTE: if you are newly rooted that means you have NO RECOVERY(ND7 OTA Locked Bootloader). Using these mods, there is a risk of soft bricking your phone. I have tested each one personally so I know they work without a problem BUT there is still risk involved.
Odin is the only way to recover from a soft brick. So if you are not experienced with it (very easy) or know what Odin is, I DO NOT suggest you using these.
Mods will be posted in 2nd post..

Stock services jar is your rom you are using.. so if you are on nd7 then it's in the framework folder.
I will provide the edits when I get a chance.. they are small.. probably Saturday

I have stock recovery. rooted 4.4.2
Will it work? How exactly?
do i use adb sideload?
Thanks

As far as I know you need a custom recovery. Download file to SD card or phone storage, reboot to your custom recovery of choice, choose zip, install, reboot, add toggle from notification settings.

thanks for taking time to reply, I appreciate it.
I am bootloader unlocked, have CWM recovery installed, and I'm running your stock odexed ROM - [ROM][I605VRUFND7][4.4.2]OFFICIAL STOCK ROOTED ODEX/DEODEX[6/13/2014]. I was hoping to see a reboot to recovery in the power menu after flashing this mod, but I don't. also tried the manual installation. I'm just wondering what to look for, thanks

This is a hood thread idea @lacoursiere18, i've got all of these working with xposed and a few modules, but this does present a cleaner experience to adding things in.
What about the s5 mod you had in your ota release?
I know some of the apps don't like to play nice, but the notification drawer has been friendly along with a few other things.

A hood thread? Not sure what you mean there...
I personally do NOT prefer to run xposed..feel like it slows the phone down..bulks it up..
Well the s5 mod is not for me to release.. you can ask E-Team.. Not sure they would like me releasing just the mod itself..
I did port it to our base, the mods that is, but it is still technically not my work. Feel me?
Now air command..and it's features.. yes I can do that if you all would like..

[MOD] dim capacitive buttons/leds | fixed | [9/3/12]

Flash this mod from custom recovery to dim the red capacitive buttons/leds (home, menu, back, search). This script doesn't change how or when the leds light up, it only controls the brightness when they do light up.
The install script has been fixed to set appropriate permissions - there should no longer be a need to manually set permissions after flashing.
This mod is not needed for ROM's which have this tweak working in Leedroid Tweaks.
Flash like you would flash any other zip. You shouldn't need to wipe cache or dalvik. Nandroid first to be safe. To uninstall, just delete the script from /system/etc/init.d with a root file explorer.
Requirements:
ROM with proper init.d support
Credit:
fo0you for the idea
whoever originally created the script that fo0you posted that gave me the idea
Leedroid Tweaks app for being awesome and making me miss this tweak enough to create a script
Update: just found that someone already created something very similar to this in the EVO 3D forums (I think), so even though I did this on my own all credit to him for coming up with it first
* Note: The usual caveats apply - I'm not responsible for phone death, please nandroid before flashing, etc.
<------------------------------------------------ information below this line is now mostly obsolete ------------------------------------------------>
UPDATE: This is now flashable from recovery - download dimleds-signed.zip instead of dimleds.zip
For newer Sense 4 ROM's (like Newt's OnE XxX v3.2.1 and ViperRez), there is a minor problem which requires manual intervention. After flashing the zip, you have to use a file explorer to change permissions on the script file in /system/etc/init.d (change permissions to match the permissions of the other script files in the same directory). Alternatively, you can manually copy the script from the zip to /system/etc/init.d and change the permissions. I'll try to get a fixed version up soon.
NOTE: This is no longer needed for Bored's s4 ROM (as of v2.4/2.5)
This is a quick script I threw together to dim the capacitive buttons while running Newt's OnE XxX Sense 4.0 ROM (I'm currently using it on Bored's RezROM S4). I got the idea from another post in Newt's thread (by fo0you) about a script to toggle the capacitive buttons on or off. I prefer them on, but the default brightness is way too bright for me. If you want to toggle the lights on or completely off, get the script fo0you posted. If you just want to dim them, use this one.
This is only a temporary measure until the Leedroid Tweaks app is updated for Sense 4.0 ROMs (this tweak is included in Leedroid Tweaks). This tweak already works in Leedroid Tweaks on some Sense 4.0 ROMs (I think on Joel's BAMF S4 ROM, but I could be wrong), but not others (like Newt's), hence this script. Different Sense 4.0 ROMs seem to have different tweaks working for some reason.
The flashable zip copies a script to /system/etc/init.d
Installation:
Nandroid backup (did I mention that I take no responsibility if your phone implodes, explodes, or you lose data due to this tweak?)
Copy dimleds-signed.zip to root of external SD card
Reboot to recovery and flash like any other flashable zip
Reboot from recovery
New (only for newer Sense 4 ROM's): use a file explorer to change permissions on the script in /system/etc/init.d
New (only for newer Sense 4 ROM's): reboot
If you want to remove the tweak, just delete the 50dimleds script from /system/etc/init.d/ and reboot. You have to use a file manager like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to do this. The leds will be automatically reset to default brightness when you reboot.
Hey thanks for this! It's nice to have a "dim" option without going full on/off
Thank you very much for this

maybe include a script to wipe dalvik and cache during the process but before the flash? or tell folks to do it first?
I wiped both before i flashed and worked on reboot.....but only tested this once might just be a fluke.

Yeah I don't think wiping dalvik/cache should be necessary for a mod like this, but I tried it both ways (wiping and no wiping). It was the same for me either way, didn't really work right until the 2nd reboot. Must just be me.

In what way?
possibly add a soft flash feature? I currently have a Galaxy Note and there isn't a dev that can figure it out. Just wondering, since you were able to dim the captivate buttons, should be similar to tweaking the flash.

This ROM is without kernel so it will use your last kernel, and i bellieve it Stock Kernel, its the best one.
So let kick it to our device
1. Copy ROM to extSDCard
2. Make sure you are rooted and have TWRP / CWM installed
3. Make sure you have a NANDROID backup (optional)
4. IN CWM / TWRP - Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik (Optional in TWRP can flash internal dat and data, so the phone fully fresh)
5. Select Install Rom in TWRP / CWM Main Screen
6. Select The file you copied over and click Yes (CWM) or Swipe (TWRP)
7. Firstboot may take time but not more than 5 minutes, because its fully DEODEXED
8. Welcome to new ROM
Themed
In my screenshot above there will be different than your newly flash 9152.
1. Remove all the nova default widget by hold and drag to the X sign above the screen
2. Press and hold the screen until add widget menu appears and add JB Clock. Resize the widget by hold the widget (its nova take a good work)
3. For drawer, you can setting the transparancy in drawer menu inside nova setting also the amount of grid, i suggest 5x5 is the best

I dont have 9200 device, but if you want completely remove the TW you can download any launcher that you like, for example nova.apk, rename it to your default TW launcher name. For 9152 its called SecLauncher3. After you rename the Nova.apk to SecLauncher3.apk you can paste it to system/app with root explorer. It will say replace, yes, an error come up and probably will restart but after that your phone is already change to the new launcher.
Note:
1. Find out what the name of your TW launcher in your device, it may be different than mine
2. Backup the original launcher just in case any problem in the future
3. If you follow this procedure you must not ever factory reset without flashing new rom because it will say error, but if you make the rom from the fresh one like my rom its completely safe to factory reset
Hope this help

Sorry for your test result man. I've never do antutu test before but i do now. I got, 12153. Deodex rom isnt make slowing down performance. It just need time for first boot. PS Boot sound can be a little loud be prepared. Either replace the PowerOn.ogg or flash a zip to bring volume back to regular settings to avoid this.

This has a very wicked theme and is wicked fast. Neat wallpapers too. Thanks for another one, Gigilie! I only have a stock and four slots. Think Hashcode and give us some more room, lol! I've got 32GB.
Another ss compatible rom to try!!!!

This works flawlessly on stock slot?
I admit im scared to try...I bricked my old razr flashing stock and backups never restored properly.
I never again tried to flash to stock because of this. I think I might be ready.
So on Verizon MK2 these are the steps?
1- boot into safestrap
2-activate stock slot
3-backup stock slot
4-advanced wipe all but SD cards
5-flash venomous_vx_2.0_vzw_flawless1-420
6-reboot
Gave it a shot nice rom but having problem updating Google services.Says insufficient space.Cleared internal storage.

To be safe, you could install it on a slot, get it going, back it up and then restore it to your stock slot. Not sure about wiping. I would try it without first.

yeah just make sure and try it on a slot 1st. make sure you like the rom before commiting then make a backup and then restore to stock like tulsa said. wiping your stock can be dangerous just avoid wiping data too or your safestrap usually goes bye bye

Use an app to access data/app-lib folder in android.... I like Root Explorer..... When your in data/app-lib find any duplicate folders for services
For example I had trouble updating antutu benchmark. The folder had duplicates as follows
com.antutu.abenchmark-1 and also com.antutu.abenchmark-2
I delete the com.antutu.abenchmark-1 folder and reboot then go to playstore and update now works fine......
Just find the services folder and delete the -1 folder leave the -2. If you see more do this for each one that has both. Hope this helps others with the storage space issues.
updated op
changed the op added 3 new roms to complete the set! check them if you liked Venomous VX!

Yeah brother I'm on chaos and loving it I ported this and foxhound a bit. But Phoenix. Imperium. Sammy deluxe. Venomous. Purified (sick). Car23. I've personally installed all those. I'm using nc5 or NC2 upgrade and modules with supersu always flashed afterward. With the matching modem and hlos odin and just installing one rom on main stock slot I go up to 4.4 and down no problem Knox in tact and I've probably flashed 40x

You can try and delete the Cache and Dalvik from recovery and see if that helps. Otherwise the only solution is to replace the framework.jar and framework.odex with a backup version. These can be extracted from any of the unmodified NE5 ROMS zip files and installed with root explorer or the like. assuming that those files weren't modified to begin with. It should work. This is the first report of any problem. Has anyone else experienced any negative effects from this mod?

I tryed everything in my power to fix what the mod broke. with no luck what so ever.
flashed a zip with the proper original framework.jar and framework.odex files and then I got stuck at the sprint spark yellow boot screen i wish there was a simple zip i could flash to fix this problum as i am really not happy about haveing to wipe my phone and download a full rom to reflash.
I cant get accsess to the firmwires I need. the servers keep reseting my download and the servers don't support resuming.
why am i stuck at the boot screen after flashing this in the first place?

You are going to have to do a full wipe and install of a rom. I recommend installing one of the NE5 deodexed versions that are available.

As we know viper sound mode requires SELinux permissive kernel (custom kernel) many users can't use it because of not liking to use (Like me )custom kernel /non availability of custom kernel for their ROM.
I have made small utility to use viper hassle free for my ROM users to use viper audio with stock kernel. I have decided to share it to all.
Though posting it to N4 thread but it should work on almost ROMs of N3/N4/S6 ported/S6

I have a stock kernel and in the past I tried to gain full functionality in V4A using SELinuxModeChanger but with no success as it was not making any differences in V4A setting mode to Permissive at boot.
If I use your fix, can I uninstall SELinuxModeChanger?
Can I leave SELinux mode to Enforcing as stock default??
Second thing...I see that your Viper Fix runs at boot.
Can I remove it from the startup apps??
Tnx.

Seclinuxmode changer no more working (at least on n4) otherwise no need to use this fix. Though this fix don't require mod changer.
This fix won't change kernel status and it will remain enforcing.
No. You have to keep this fix running bcoz it requires to fix on every boot.

Fix works, but does not sick after reboot.
I have applied it at my actual V4A installed ad system app.
I have installed it by coping it manually in the priv-app folder and setting 777 as permissions.
The file installed it's the same you provide.
Do you think it could depend from having not instated it ad regular apk??
Tnx.

My driver install didn't stick on first install and reboot. After the second reboot, it's good. Had to install it twice. The second driver install automatically rebooted phone after install. The initial driver install only said to reboot manually.
My install was as recommended; sideload. What I did notice was my previous system installation couldn't be uninstalled by Titanium Backup Pro (couldn't find it or identify it?). I manually removed it from /system/app, /data/data and /data/dalvik-cache directories with a root browser and rebooted prior to installing the fix and viper as side loaded apk's.
Having to install driver twice may reflect on the V4A application rather than the fix but maybe a reboot after fix installation solves that?

When you push as system apk you need to manually copy soundfx lib and one soundeffect file manually (explained under how to include in rom in original thread) . I recommend manual install that's why posted apk instead of zip.

You say you recommend manual install...but you mean regular apk install as usual? That's not manual but automatic!
Manual is copy/past files in system with root file explorer..
What procedure do you know that is working with your fix??
Ps: about manual installation in original thread for include in rom...you refer at this?? -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39156761

Yes if saying manual installation to copy paste with root explore then also you have to follow steps you have posted link for rom inclusion. My fix have nothing to do with type of installation but it should be proper. Now if you install as regular apk then it's very simple as after applying my fix, Install apk then open Viper - it will asked to install driver automatically. Then it will ask to reboot. That's it.
