A similar device to moto in terms of specs - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone tell me a similar device to moto e which has almost same specifications (the price be anything) as compared to moto e which has good android development. It may be from Samsung Sony or any company but it should have good android development.
The most important features to get matched are
Screen resolution
Processor
Screen size (it may be 4"-4.5")
Ram
Android 4.4.4
I can easily port roms from that device thats why asking

No one interesred>>> fingers down!!

I like the above POST

Well, only these phones have matching processor : Blu Studio 5.0, Blu Studio 5.3S, Nokia Lumia 530.
However, a lot of phones have 1GB ram as the Moto E.
And, similarly, a lot of phones out there with Screen size from 4"-4.5"
But, only few on Android 4.4.4, I believe. Actually, no one with matching specs above.
And, problem is, the phones having matching processor have no android or no development.
So, I guess, that's unfortunate for us, but that's how it is for now.
But, CM11 sources for our device are there, now.
Can, you refer to them, and maybe see some other phone which has 1GB RAM, android 4.4 and a similar screen size, and make code changes to port it for Moto E ?

[Q] Which Android phone would you choose? Nexus/Xperia S/One S

Hi.
I'm going to change my Android phone (a LG Optimus 2x) and I have to choose between these 3 candidates: Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Sony Xperia S and HTC One S.
After looking at the specs of all of them, I think this is like:
- CPU: One S > Galaxy Nexus ~= Xperia S
- GPU: One S > Xperia S > Galaxy Nexus
- Storage: Xperia S > Galaxy Nexus ~= One S
- Camera: After looking at some reviews, I don't dare to say anything. One S looked pretty good, Xperia S looked pretty good too (the best video recorder I'd say), and Galaxy Nexus didn't look bad at all (but in dark photos in interiors).
The CPU is important to me (I like my phone to work smoothly), GPU is not so important, storage is not very important (I prefer higher speed than higher capacity), and camera is not important too (I take a few photos, but that doesn't mean I don't care if the phone has a crappy camera).
I hope you can help me choosing
Thanks!
personally, i would choose the one s.
I love the new sense 4 ui and i think it's the one which will work more smoothly.

Totally agree!!! ONE S! ownage!! but,[yeah] xperia S pretty good too heee~~~..
HTC One S is pretty good. The Qualcomm S4 is very powerful (more than Xperia's S3), the Adreno 225 is pretty good too, and the One S has more recent hardware than Xperia (like the bt module).
I've seen some benchmarks about the One S internal storage (NAND) and it's pretty fast, specially reading, and that's good.
I forgot to say in the first post but Android 4.0 for me is very important (I know the Xperia S will be updated soon), and I'll use this phone a lot to code apps.
At the moment, I would say the ranking is:
1º HTC One S
2º Galaxy Nexus
3º Xperia S
Thanks for your replies!
Is there any noticeable difference between the GNexus and One S screens? I ask it because of the different (but similar) resolutions (nexus has higher res but higher size too) and I could not see both phones powered on.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA
Well i havent tried One S,but i have to say i tried Galaxy Nexus and its amazing, great specs, great design and its flagship phone so its going to be supported by xda and google for some time.I cant describe how good impression of that phone i have, its amazing
If you want to use custom roms and root, I'd recommend you the nexus. It's community is good and you don't have to bother about hboot, s-on, s-off and so on.
You should look at Something Quad-Core, such as: HTC One X, Huawei Ascend D Quad, Huawei Ascend D Quad XL, ZTE Era, etc. Which would be better.

I prefer a powerful dual core than a quad core (except if that quad core has very powerful cores, to work at best performance at any workload). A quad core in a smartphone, from my point of view (as a computer engineer), is not worth, at the moment (more battery usage, not so efficient...).
I'm a coder so I'll use the phone to test my apps. And I like to 'play' with it (custom roms and stuff... I used to code stuff for the Linux kernel).

[Q] What is this CyanogenMod for android?

I did search for it in google, and I did read the wiki about it over and over, but still there are questions in my mind on what this "cyanogenmod" does.
does it replace the OS in my phone? Is it compatible for my phone? etc., can someone explain to me what this cyanogenmod is and what does it do? thanks
Android is open source like Linux so custom versions of the OS can be made. Cyanogenmod is a version of Android that mostly resembles the stock Android experience on Nexus devices. Many phones ship with a skinned version of Android and come bundled with bloatware apps that can't be removed. By installing cyanogenmod the phone gets a cleaner and usually faster Android experience which many power users prefer. But since its an unofficial build not all hardware may work unless there is a stable build for that device. It all depends on what device you have as there must be a build for it, you can't use a build for another device even if the hardware is similar.
my phone is called Candy Chat Cherry Mobile, is this phone compatible for this cyanogenmod?
Cherry Mobile Candy Chat specs:
2.4″ resistive screen @ 240×320 pixels
Full qwerty keypad
Dual-SIM, Dual-standby
MediaTek 416MHz processor
256MB ROM
128MB RAM
up to 16GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g
GPRS/EDGE
Bluetooth 2.1
1.3MP camera
FM radio
Android Froyo 2.2
Yes it is technically compatible with "cyanogenmod"! But you can't really get many functions in your mobile! And you need build your version to get "cyanogenmod" coz if I'm right there ain't support for your device! Don't go to that much trouble just stick with what you have!

[Q] MTK 6575 Dual Sim One X ROM PROBLEM

Hi guys, i'm kinda noob when it comes to android phones. This is my third android phone, it's a dual sim from china with an MTK 6575 cpu (works pretty well by the way). I had several problems with it (it restarted randomly, could not go into the play store, apps would stop working, etc), so i decided to flash it (bad idea). After flashing, i get either a blank screen, or no screen at all (only the red light led shows up). I'm guessing i don't have the right ROM for it.
Anyone can help me with a proper rom for this ?
The phone i have is ONE X 4.7" MTK6575 512MB RAM Android 4.0.4 - Brand name is ALPS (in the about phone details it showed up as HTC ONE X - with 1GB RAM and Quad core CPU, but when running antutu bench it showed the real hardware and specs).
Anyways, i've been looking all over for a ROM for this, couldn't find it anywhere, hope someone can help me out.
Thanks
Anyone?
You must've have apply the wrong rom for your device. You shuld revert back to stock rom (if any) i afraid you couldn't find one because rare support for chinese-made devices

There are many porters and rom cooks but unfortunately, no one has ventured into the MTK territory yet.
I, myself, own a Jiayu G3 with a mtk 6577 chipset and I have been pleading and begging the developers.
We are one of the first pioneers who have entered the territory.
It is always the case when you are courageous and ahead of the rest, you have to wait for 'others' to catch up!
I will keep you posted on any progress, please keep asking and searching. Don't give up!

Hello,
I am Also using a MTK 6577 based phone and want to update it to Jelly bean, but seems currently most Rom customizers are working on
other models and are not giving time to this chipset.
Can someone please post what exact would be needed to have jelly bean for these phones.
Phone specs on most such devices are
1Ghz dual core CPU
512MB RAM
512MB ROM
5 Inch LCD
5MP Back and VGA Front Camera
Dual SIM
3G on 1st SIM, 2G on 2nd SIM
Wifi
light sensor, accelerometer, magnetic sensor
2000-2300 mAh battery
Currently Running ICS
I can post the build.prop if someone wants to examine.
Many thanks for your time.

Yups I realized that earlier but today found the phone is already having JB Released and Running which is officially provided by manufacturer.
Yet to schedule the upgrade at service center as its not a OTA update yet.

Ok another post, I see you have lower specs than my device. If you know the basics of porting that shouldnt really be a problem, it;s quite easy. I just ported the stock rom from Jiayu g2 to my acer liquid E1. that is from 4.1.2 > 4.2.2, with just the basics of opening 2 zip files, dragging and dropping some files, and you're done. See if you can find an mtk device which has almost the same specs as yours, and go to www.needrom.com look for some roms, download it, and just try. That's what I'm doing, and so far, I made the worlds first, and third custom rom for my device....so don't give up like alot of ppl tell you!!!! Just don't

Hope they give us the update. though the update to 4.4.4 was hardly anything but still it was an update. Anyways even if the update doesnt arrive, I m sure the people in our forum may try to build one. If not anyone else i may give it a shot if i have time.
I don't think so.
As you know, Android L will use ART, and it'll use more internal memory compared to Dalvik. In Moto E with its 2.2 GB... it will be harder to manage an balance between few free space and good performance.
Android one is going to release this month. In IND Micromax, spice and carbon are ready to release One. As per as update is concerned ,these phones are one step ahead . Hope, Motorola has already started thinking about the future of E. To stay in the low priced market , they will hopefully release 2nd gen E also with better internal support.
Most probably I think they won't.
And even if they do, they will have to compress the apps to a great extent, trying to optimize the space of the OS, because of ART.
least we can do is wait if Moto updates any news on its devices.

that would be hella laggy, maybe!
cuz only 882mb is available for system
the internal storage = 2.21gb and if i enable art
only 15-20% of the memory remains for other apps!! without installing anything else than the stock apps!
so without the art only system in L
they will have to remove some or the other apps or they can optimize the memory in such a way that low internal memory devices can have a taste of lolipop too!
damn, it just hit me.
they are doing it crossplatform?
am i right? so android L we can hope for it to be updated or AT THE LEAST ported to our device!!
they may let go of the bloatware and give us a app2sd feature to compensate for our own apps, that would be ok as well?
any way we can let moto know about our wishes??
