[Q] Verizon to T-Mobile Galaxy S5 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

After 10 years with Verizon, I had enough (long story)... Switched over to T-Mobile recently with my Verizon Galaxy S5 Phone, however I have a few questions.
When I was on VZW I was able to root with towlroot, installed xPosed, and removed the Verizon bloatware. I then inserted the SIM from T-Mobile and made adjustments to the APN. It all seems to be working fine. I understand I will not get the full bandwidth, and I am OK because it was not worth $600 to purchase a new phone (Actually 3 new phones).
My questions are:
1) Should/Can I install SafeStrap and use one of the T-Mobile ROM, Kernals, etc... to be a "true" T-Mobile mobile phone?
2) Are there any T-Mobile specific APK's I should have?
3) I assume I can not get the wireless calling which T-Mobile uses?
4) Any other tips and trick from people that did the same thing?
So far happy with T-Mobile. Thanks in advance for the help.

..

Thank questions answered. I will search around.

[Q] How do I get Verizon Galaxy S4 to Straight Talk?

I am new to switching phones from carrier to carrier. I have a rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 on MJ7. What do I need to buy to get my phone to work on ST? I get lost on these forums because it seems there are multiple ways. I do not understand the APNs, which SIM card to use, etc. Please help and educate me!! I should also mention that I am grandfathered in to unlimited data...should I stay with Verizon then? Thanks!!!

Verizon S4 Into Google Play Edition + US Prepaid Carrier

I just bought a brand new Verizon S4 that has never been activated on Verizon for $125. I am trying to get it working with a prepaid carrier in the US. I have been reading that it can be done with T-Mobile and ATT but am not sure where to start with this thing. For starters, the Android OS version is 4.3. I know there is an update out for it through Verizon. I can't do the update OTA with no Verizon service. I'd like to get this thing as close to stock Android/Samsung as possible and kill all the Verizon BS and then get it working on StraightTalk, Cricket, SIMple Mobile, or MetroPCS. Can anyone give me a good place to start or any tips. I've flashed ROMs before, changed PRLs, etc, so I'm no dummy when it comes to this stuff. The terminology/technology has changed some since I was messing with Boost Mobile phones. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try searching.
You will need to ODIN to 4.4.2.
You will then need to root with "towelroot".
The phone should work with most any GSM carrier with the right setting. (T-Mobile, AT&T and Metro GSM).
Which will give you LTE, I can't answer.

I have used ODIN before when working with my Samsung Galaxy Prevail through Boost Mobile so I'm sure I can figure it out. Thanks for the info. I tried searching and found all kinds of different terminology such as SafeStrap and talking about the different bootloaders. It's a little overwhelming, but I'm sure I can figure it out. I did all of my original stuff through AndroidForums and there as a root section with all kinds of guides, FAQs, etc. Is there a beginners guide or FAQ for the Verizon S4?
I have read where I need to change the APN settings to get HSPA+ or 4G LTE with the different GSM carriers. It seems like HSPA+ is the best I'll get and that's through ATT. I'll keep digging! Thanks!

[Q] Using phone on Verizon network

I can't seem to find a straight and current answer to my question so I figure I'll just make my own thread.
I currently have a Sprint LG G3 as my personal phone and my work provides me with a Verizon Galaxy S4. I am wanting to get out of my Sprint contract so I no longer carry 2 phones and pay for a phone i don't need to pay for. My question is: is it possible for me to use my Verizon sim card in my lg g3?
Well, I am curious if it would work by changing "SPR" to "VZW" in the build.prop and popping in a big red's sim card.
With the L update, if you change "SPR" to "VZW" in the build.prop and reset the phone the VZW menus will appear on the phone. It will GSM unlock it, it will pick up signal and you can make and receive calls. Only thing is that there are a lot of ui crashes.
If you mess around with shortcut master and do a VZW search, you will find different options found on big reds phones, you will also find options for ATT, TMO, LGU, KDDI, and others. Each time you change the build.prop the settings menu changes and the options for the selected carrier are changed on the phone when a restart is made. Its like all the carrier settings and configurations are in the sw/hw but at the time the OS, baseband, modem, system, etc is installed, the setup configures the phone to run on a specific carrier.
Im pretty sure that an advanced coder could make it work....
Lets hope this thread goes somewhere.......

Why not just sell the sprint G3 and get a used verizon G3 on swappa?
Well you can follow this guide I mean I haven't done it but what I understand is that you need to get a code from sprint and then do some other stuff.

Suggestions? ROMS for Rooted S4 (5.01) on T-Mobile

I am new to the whole cellphone scene. I have much more experience in the PC world.
I purchased an Verizon Galaxy S4 (I545) on e-bay, primarily for use as a media device. I have decided to get pre-paid service on T-Mobile. (My wife has a T-Mobile G2 and when I put her sim card in, I was able to make calls.)
I have the T-Mobile sim installed and will be initiating service tomorrow.
After reading many of the threads here, I see a lot of talk about flashing different ROMS onto the hardware. Since I am not a Verizon customer, I really have no need for "Verizon's" version of Android, other than if it is required for the hardware to work properly. I like to have my options for customization and installing various apk's, etc.... I like to control my hardware and not be limited to what one company or another says I should do. I do travel internationally, which is one reason why my wife has the T-Mobile account, since it has great coverage in Europe, etc....
So, I ask this:
Should I flash a different ROM on this beast?
What would be the benefits?
What would be the drawbacks?
Which ROM would be recommended and why?
Thanks in advance for your insights!
p.s. Before knowing any better, I updated my S4 using Verizon's Software Upgrade Assistant on my PC, meaning I currently am running Build LRX22C.I545VRUGOC1 w/ Kernel 3.4.0 [email protected] #1.

VZM Samsung Galaxy S4 user in the UK

Hi everyone. I am new to the site and the forum. I can't express how grateful I am to all the contributors... I have been doing a fair amount of reading. Still haven't been able to find answers to some questions.
I have an S4 with OF1 ROM. I have been able to root it using KingRoot. I have recently moved to the UK.
My questions are:
1. My phone never picks up a 4G signal, even in areas where my wife's phone does. How can I get around this problem?
2. How do I get rid of the annoying "SIM is not from Verizon" message?
Apologies if these have already been answered.
If you rooted then you can flash Stang5litre's ROM to delete all the Verizon bloat with flashfire (my reccomendation is the Ultranote 5 edition)

Hey there, you have to keep in mind that VZW S4 only supports LTE band 4 so, make sure your carrier has LTE on that band
