[Q] How do you root a KK phone and achieve S-OFF - HTC Desire 601

We seem to have lots of confusion here.
Some say you can get S-off with SuperSU when flashing twrp, others say you need rumrunner which at the moment does not seem to work. Is there a way to come to step by step agreement here?

I promise you that you cannot get soff with supersu, flashing/installing that only gives you root. Are you kitkat? If so using rumrunner to get soff is much harder. Would be best to downgrade to Jellybean, soff and then upgrade to kitkat.

[Q] htc evo 3d (gsm, hboot 1.49.0018) unlock bootloader without htc dev?

Hello, is it possible to unlock my bootloader without using the htc dev method? This because i don't want to lose my warranty! I know that after unlocking my bootloader i will need a different bootloader to root my device, this is no problem for me.so is there a possibility to unlock my bootloader without htcdev.com? My hboot and type of device can be found at the title of this thread.kind regards, a proud htc evo 3d owner( i have the device for two weeks now)!
I had the same problem. EVO 3D GSM + HBoot 1.49.0018
The Revolutionary method doesn't work and as far as I'm aware, the only way to unlock your bootloader is via the HTC Method. I have done this and rooted my device. I am now going to attempt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495657
Sorry I can't be of more help. Extremely new to this!
thank you
Thank you for your reply! You have also vodafone, i think? Because of the hboot and the link you send me.thanks vodafone, for making it hard to root my device! I really won't use the htc method because i want to keep my warranty!
My phone is unbranded.
I was a little uncertain as to whether to root on the HTC Method but I just took the plunge. For me the ability to root surpassed the usefulness of the warranty.
Veevoh, how did you root your phone? I have an unbranded HTC EVO 3D GSM HBOOT 1.49.0018 with unlocked bootloader via HTC Method, but i just can't find a way to root. Did you downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.0007?

If your already unlocked via htc method then just flash a recovery, make a nandroid, and then flash a Rom. Take a look at the gsm development thread and spend a few hours reading to give you a better understanding of what the risk's and benefits are of rooting. Also as I previously mentioned if your unlocked and s-off and your on a stock Rom after you flash your recovery then just to gain root you can flash the Su.zip and then hit up the market and download busybox and you will have root on your stock Rom. I'd highly recommend making a nandroid backup as soon as you get your recovery on your device. Then make a copy of it and keep it on your pc just so you always have a stock backup to revert to and a copy of it.

No need for HTC unlock you.can downgrade you Rom with the old Rom version that comes with old hboot then use revaluation to s-off. I will post link to guide I used later.

Flash the stock RUU then go into bootloader and enter command fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 and you will be s-on again.
Note i have not tested the above command as dont want to start all over again but it should work.
Best way for me was
1. Root using htcsupertool
2. Then run ruu then root again
3. This turns your bootloader to .007
4. Then use I/O rev to s-off and install clockwork
5. Install your Rom
6. If you want to back to stock
7. Re run ruu takes you back to stock.
8. Then take the OTA updates takes you back to .018
7. Check forum how to s-on
This method prevents the RELOCKED bootloader just says locked
Hope this helps

Try to downgrade using the instructions to get s-off, once yo get to the 3.15 version, download the 3.15 RUU, follow the instructions on unlimited.io, I've heard that you can use windows is just not supported by the devs you re on your own, it's real easy, just take off the "sudo./" part on each command and you hold be good to go, good luck!

I just went through this process and S-OFF is not enough, you also need to change your MID otherwise OTAs will fail. I will write something up soon on what I did to convert my ATT to International ROM.
Just got my One today, coming from an S-Off One X. Is getting S-Off deemed important on the One?
##Update##
Realized how easy it was to obtain S-Off compared to the HTC One X (which admittedly was pretty easy already) and went ahead and did it anyways
Honestly if you need to ask this type of question do not attempt it, just because its on here doesnt mean its a necessity...htc dev unlock the phone and flash a custom rom and be happy with that for now until youve read read and read some more....

Hi FinZ28,
thanks for your input. the reason why hboot 1.12 because as far as i know is the only one that can allow me to S-OFF without using the htc dev method, correct me if im wrong.
Now if there is a method to obtain S-off on 1.15 without using HTC DEV to unlock bootlader please let me know.
Thanks again.
The only way to downgrade is by using the toolkit in the link I posted previously, however, you must be HTC Dev unlocked to use it. To gain S-off you will need to unlock with HTC Dev & then gain S-off via Facepalm or Dirty Racun.
If you're wanting to downgrade for the purpose of using Lazy Panda, keep in mind that it's no longer supported and if you get in a tight spot trying to use it, you may have trouble getting help, particularly from Team Unlimited.
Also, I'm fairly certain that Lazy Panda required an unlocked bootloader. There is an exploit for the One that allows you to gain S-off without unlocking, but not for the EVO LTE.

Yeah I'm pretty much out of Luck since it seems impossible right now to revert without using HTC Dev. I guess is time to upgrade.
Thanks for your input guys, I appreciate it.
I dug up the Lazy Panda thread and yes, @torankusu was correct. Lazy Panda will work on a locked bootloader. I used it when I first got my phone over a year ago when it was still supported but I was already dev unlocked. Still, though, there is no way to downgrade to Hboot 1.12 without unlocking the bootloader.

With your hboot firewater will be you best free option and if it fails with "whelp this sucks..." message then sunshine is your next choice but it will cost $25. You can do a Google search on both options to get feedback on what works and what doesn't. It seems that each phone is different and what works for one may not work for another.
Thanks I will try that.
