[Q] BML one mini android development - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello friends!
I have a Chinese BML One mini phone (I know it's crappy, but I had no choice), and I'm trying to start an android development with it.
I was aware that it might be hard to find any drivers for that phone, so I decided to use linux (opensuse 13.1) as a development machine (hopefully it requires no extra drivers).
The problem is that device seems to be invisible for the eclipse.
When I do in eclipse "run as - android application" - it says that there is no suitable device found and suggests to create a virtual one.
Usb debugging is on. Phone keyboard is unlocked.
The project is created to run on android 2.2. (The phone says that it is 4, but while digging here on the forum I found that it is really 2.3.5)
Is there any special way of connecting that phone to the PC? Hold secret combination of buttons maybe?
(As far as I know galaxy nexus for example is also invisible for eclipse when you connect it as a flash drive, so you have to connect it as camera.)
The problem is even worse as my laptop is too weak for the development on emulator, so that mobile was the only chance to start android development.

The main issue is that it's not an official Android version and the fact that they modded it to read the wrong Android version there is almost nothing you can do. Mix in the fact that there IS no kernel source code there will not be much you can do at all with development for that device.

One need to find the vendor and device id using lsusb command
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1782:5d04 Spreadtrum Communications Inc
These 1782:5d04 is actually a device and vendor id.
Then we need to write it to /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules file in that way:
SUBSYSTEM=="usb",ATTRS{idVendor}=="1782",ATTRS{idProduct}=="5d04",MODE="0666"
And also add "0x1782" without quotes to /home/XXX/.android/adb_usb.ini file.
If you don't have any of these files, create it. Note that 51-android.rules should have 644 permissions.
Than I googled for "0x1782" and found these two links, so I think that problem is not only chinese-fake-android-specific:

I found a website regarding rooting F-05D, but I dont read Japanese, just want to know if anyone have tried the enclosed method to root T-01D?
or could anybody do the translation, since the terms become quite strange after using the online translators

Hello.
I am sending this pm regarding the translation for flashing the Fujitsu f-05d sold by Docomo in Japan. I cannot reply in the development section due to my low post count.
My phone is an f-05d. I do not have a t-01d but, according to the original rooting guide for the f-05d, the users are reporting success in rooting the t-01d as well.
I will not really translate for you. Rather, I will explain what I did to root my f-05d.
Here is a rough summary of the steps I followed:
For starters, you need to make sure that adb recognizes your phone when connected to the PC via USB. This means that you need to install the Android SDK and the USB driver for your t-01d by Fujitsu.
I had trouble getting adb to recognize my phone, as Window$ insisted in recognizing it as an USB drive. What I did, among other things, was:
In the phone settings, go to Applications > Development and check USB Debigging and Stay awake.
Install the Google USB Driver package, in the extras section of the Android SDK Manager.
With the phone connected to the PC, go to Window$ device manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers and uninstall (use the delete key from your the keyboard) every mass storage device that appeared when my phone was connected. Disconnect and reconnect the usb cable.
Only until I did this final step was my phone recognized and listed as Android Phone > Android Composite ADB Interface in the device manager. If your device is not recognized, you just cannot continue. Look for help about this, or else you cannot move on with this method of rooting.
Confirm that your phone is recognized as Android Phone > Android Composite ADB Interface in the Window$ device manager. Do not continue until it is.
From the Android SDK manager, install the package android sdk platform-tools.
You need download F05Droot.zip from the original blog page your linked before. I will not link to the file directly, but you should have no problem finding it. Extract the files within into the program directory \Android\android-sdk\platform-tools (this is my path).
You need to download a replacement for the file lsm_disabler.ko that is inside the F05Droot.zip. Get it from here and extract it an replace the one inside the platform-tools directory.
By the way, this platform-tools directory is the one that has the adb executable file. Just a heads up.
You need to download su. I cannot tell you where to get it. I just do not know where I got mine from, but was easy so go for it When you have it, extract it and put it in the platform-tools directory.
Confirm that the platform-tools directory includes these files:
Code:
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
su
lsm_disabler.ko
f05dsu.bat
There will be more, but these are the ones needed for this to work.
Now, get ready to root. Connect your phone to the PC.
Go to your phone settings > setting my body > step/activity counter app > pedometer use and confirm it is checked on.
In the platform-tools directory, look for f05dsu.bat and run it. A DOS window will open. This is the funny part. Unless you are doing this from a Japanese version of Window$, or from a Window$ with Japanese locale active, you will see a lot of strange symbols instead of Japanese characters... which would be the same for almost anyone anyway Regardless, you will see a prompt to Press any key to continue . . .. At this point, you do not need to do anything on your phone, other than visually checking that the check mark on the pedometer is set.
On the DOS window press any key, your will see more garbage and another prompt to press any key. This is the important part. See if you can find among all those symbols this pattern: OFF/ON. If you do see it, it means we are on track.
Now that you were able to see the OFF/ON, go to your phone and uncheck the pedometer (OFF) and check it again (ON).
In the DOS window, press any key. Your phone will reboot. The message in the DOS window says that you must wait for the phone to boot up and for Window$ to recognize your usb connection to the phone.
When/if your phone is recognized by Window$, go to the DOS window and press any key.
Again, press any key and your phone will reboot.
The DOS window has a message indicating that you must now install superuser and busybox. When your phone reboots, go to the android market and install from there when you have the time.
You can now close the DOS window because, unless there was any error, you are now rooted, my friend
From the market, install a terminal, or an app that includes a terminal. I use Rom Toolbox because it has a terminal and scripts to mount the /system as rw.
Open whatever terminal you chose and, at the $ prompt type su
If new prompt is #, type soff
You will need to run these commands every time before trying to mount /system as rw.
That is all. I hope you can root your phone.
Just a petition, post this message in the forums, as it may help others who have similar difficulties. It sure could have helped me if someone had done before me.

update 15/4
On 13/4 finally i got my phone rooted
I have to run f05droot.bat instead of f05dsu.bat
After I have run the f05dsu.bat, for the steps, no error popout.
then I open the terminal type su, it reply me "permission denied".
I know it is not successful, after several run, the situation still the same.
after that have checked the contents of f05droot.bat and f05dsu.bat.
They are very similar but the f05droot.bat will push the superuser and busybox into the device at the same time.
(so I added those files in the directory \Android\android-sdk\platform-tools )
Therefore, i tried that and its works finally.
I feel really exciting at that moment.
I hope this post can help they T-01d user to root the phone.

Here is the mini review
Screen color is perfect except black and accurate. Speed is good in comparing with SGS2. Battery life is similar to SGS2. Form factor is better than SGS2. Camera is outstanding, thanks to the 1.3MP camera. Waterproofing design is what I like. The bad is upgrading is only possible in Japan. Digital TV is useless. Sound level is a bit low.
personally i like this phone very much especially the outlook.
my personal review is the following:
1. same as above the screen is perfect
2. the camera is also excellent
3. while you have a phone call, it change mode automatically depends on the environment
4. if i switch off all the data things, this phone can stand more than one day
(so i wont blame the battery, because I think we use too many network related stuffs)
5. i have to admit that the firmware is not quite stable (fortunately the phone can be upgrade to 4.0 after july)
for the rooting process, it seems like someone has success:

i have followed the steps, when i type su in the terminal simulator, it comes out segmentation fault su, do you have any idea.
I use titanium backup to check and it said my t-01d is not rooted.
for the pedometer on/off things, do i need to press the home key and go back to the pedometer to do the switch?

I think I brick my T-01D. Don' know why, I do exactly the same what I have been told here... Now It ends up infinite boot loop

Hey there everyone, sadly this guide isn't working for me. Everything in the guide goes smoothly and I do exactly what is listed but after my phone reboots the final time I still have no root access. I run f05droot.bat instead of f05dsu.bat like the user said but to no avail, I even ran f05dsu.bat and still nothing.
Anyone else have trouble? Maybe it is because I am on a certain FW? I am on 2.3.5

Aw Thanks for the notice, of course it's my firmware. Any idea about ICS? It was supposed to come out in July but yeah..
I don't know about ICS for t-01d. My sc-01d has been already upgraded to ICS, the performance is improved a lot. sh-01d also gets ICS today.

I see, I read about the T-01D (among many others) getting updated from articles like this: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/e.../docomo-update-ics-4-0-18-models-3662812.html
I'm sure the T-01D would perform pretty awesome and maybe pre-installed software would not be as big a deal as it is now. Maybe since your SH-01D is getting updated, T-01D isn't far behind. The only thing I have to see is if I can update out of Japan.
I don't have sh-01d but galaxy tab 10.1 sc-01d instead. My t-01d also upgraded to V43R41C last month during visiting Japan. Upgrade of t-01d may not be possible outside Japan as Software Update cannot be executed without docomo sim and network.

[Q] Installing Android on Pioneer Dreambook

Hi,
I wonder if someone can help.
I have a Pioneer Dreambook, i dont know the model number. It is similar in appearance to the Dreambook F10 but has different specs and hard buttons.
If you need the specs i can give them to you, but it currently runs windows 7.
I have been able install android on to it using andoid - x86, and tried multiple versions of the x86s, but all seem to unstable, the OS doen't control the hardware buttons correctly and doesn't rotate the screen unless an app forces it to rotate. Also I cannot put the tablet into "sleep" mode, only use a software option to turn the device off.
Once the device is off it is virtually impossible to restart the device and load android without using the x86 debugger.
I have seen on the web that devices like the hp tablet running web os is possible it install android effectively and that it is possible to install android onto a windows device, but surely there must be a better solution than what i currently have.
I tried to install Cyanogen but the windows installer wouldn't detect the tablet, presumably because it is not a support device, but i did read that it is possible to install Cyanogen on an non supported device.
If there is anymore information i can give please let me know, and any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

After reading very helpful post about how to write good posts/questions I realise that my issue maybe too specific.
I understand that with android the os needs to have some sort of tailoring to different devices.
But there are examples out there of similar applications of android on non android devices.
As I said earlier I already have installed android using android x86.
Let me then rephrase my question...
The issues described earlier, are they a result of the x86 method of installing android or are they the device simply incompatible with android (which I find hard to believe)?

Some Hacking in Yoga Book

Hi folks.
I'm an Android firmware developer (you can see my posts here in xda) that got a yoga book yesterday. For me it works at it should (by now) but my hacker soul speak to me and said: "at least take a look to see what you can get from this device". I don't have many time, so I can't spend time doing roms or fixing things by myself, but I can share with you some info I get and help you with my knowledge if someone is interested in "play" with this device.
First of all, I'm not responsable of anything that you can break following these steps. Almost all of them are tested and with some common sense you will not break anything, and if you break anything I will try to help you to fix it (if you are polite), but this is a work in progress and hacking and the possibility of brick the device is always there.
I only have the Android version without LTE, so I only tested in my Book.
So, here we go:
1) Secret codes:
I get this codes decompiling EngineeringCode.apk with apktool. Be carefull with them:

To use these codes, open the contacts app, press the search button and enter the code in the search bar.
2) OTA Images
You can get OTA images directly from lenovo servers. Just open your browser and paste this url:

Change device model if needed (LenovoYB1-X90F or LenovoYB1-X90L)
Change curfirmwarever to a valid OLD firmware, this way you will get the next one in age.
Change locale if needed.
With this url you will get a download url at the end of the result page. In this case: http://tabdl.ota.lenovomm.com/dls/v...S000426_1705080316_WW06_BP_ROW_WC80C2A0F2.zip
These images are not full ota images, they are diff versions. This means that we can't use them to mod the image, or recover a bricked device, but this is a first step
3) Custom images
We don't have real sources to build a custom image (the lenovo's open source files are useless), but this doesn't mean that we couldn't modify stock images to take out useless apks or get better performance.
We can get this using an Android Kitchen and a full update image for the device.
As Android kitchen you can use SuperR kitchen (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ap...chen-superr-s-kitchen-v1-1-50-v2-1-6-t3597434)
As full image, I only tested the one here (https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=category&id=19521) because I can't download any newer one.
I tested uncompressing it, deodexing the apks and doing a new image. But I don't test it in the device because I need to install twrp to flash the new image and I don't have time to test. But this should work, I did it many times so if someone is interested I can give steps to do it and support for testing.
If someone can get the latest full images, send then to me and maybe I can get some time to do some tests.
PD: Probably we could use this as a base to get LineageOS 14.1 working: https://github.com/latte-dev/android_device_xiaomi_latte/tree/cm-14.1

Sorry, my knowledge of Windows is only user level . Install it in personal computer to play games .
But I really don't know why people wants to run Windows there, it will go slowly than Android and its less touch oriented... but I suppose that this is a chat for another thread

Have you tried running it through Crossover? It may be in its infancy but i have got a few apps running OK with it.
I have the full "YB1-X90F_USR_S000196_1611040312_WW06_BP_ROW" I can upload somewhere if anyone can suggest a good site to do so without signing up? The file is about 2.5gb
It will be great if we could get the latest version, because maybe these older versions have older files that we have updated in our tablets.
Mixing files could give unknown problems
The current TWRP is based on the new Yoga Tab 3
I am starting to think they do not do full roms for this in the same way they do for a lot of their other devices.
We know the otas are available from tabdl.ota.lenovomm.com/dls/v6/ and are named according to the 2 builds that it bridges. As easy-firmware had the december full rom under the file name B1-X90F_USR_S000196_1611040312_WW06_BP_ROW-flashfiles.zip I had hoped that I could work out the file path to pull it down.
There were some interesting ideas here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/how-download-stock-roms-lenovos-ota-t3109507 but it seems there is a difference between phonedl.ota and tabdl.ota
Queries to full roms that work for phones, don't seem to work for the yoga book.
Anyone with more web knowledge able to pick this up? I am not sure the files are there but I feel they should be.

Update: the downloads seem to be hosted via CloudFront. An Amazon service, but I can not find out a way of listing the available files. The latest full rom would be

But the Last 8 chars are random and we do not know what they are.
So we have two hopes. First work out the right query to the link from fus.lenovomm.com or two find a way of listing files available in tabdl.ota.lenovomm.com/dls/v6
Not sure I have got much further but ill keep trying when I can.
Hey, I should mention that I have some files that you may find helpful; I got them from the easy firmware website. They're all the .img files for each partition in Android (ie. boot.img, cache.img, config.img, factory.img, recovery.img, system.img) as well as: biosupdate.fv, bootloader, firmware.bin and gpt.bin. However, these of course aren't in the normal "flashable .zip ROM" format. So unless you know how to take apart these .img files they aren't very useful. If you need any more help or have any other questions about how far we've come on our own, feel free to ask. danjac also has great knowledge of our efforts.
Yes, I know how to use them, unpack, modify, etc. But what I want is the latest version, no a old version (I hav these files too). If you have them I can do some changes, debloat, etc.
Anyway, I see little interest in custom roms in this forum ( probably because it's not a device with a lot of users or the users are not the techy kind), so I prefer to help others with info than do a custom rom that only 2 or 3 people will use. Doing custom roms is a time hungry task and probably it doesnt worth the effort. Anyway this device is not full of bloatware like samsung ones, so it useable as it is.
As I said in my first post if anyone is interested I can give some hints and support to modify the full image (but only the latest one).
It's so sad that there are only a few interested owners of this tab - it's such a nice device but i fear the day lenovo decides to end their support for it. There will be no custom roms to switch to and keep the device alive - it will be a soon to be bit of old tech garbage BTW. I still use my Asus Transformer Prime because of the nice community
@NiffStipples I fully agree. This device is so powerful and its a suprise that it is invisible to the "market". In my humple opinion the normal ROMs aren't that bad besides missing updates but I would love to see all the power served through a custom rom. unfortunately programming is not my business

Interesting - is Crossover good (and does it require factory reset)?
Hi, It works well with some things and not others. Often the why and where are not obvious. It is basically "wine" the layer that allows some windows apps to run on a linux install. Tweeked to work with android. Just an install to put crossover on. Then another install (Within crossover), to put you app on crossover. If it doesn't work out of the box, there windows libraries you can switch out and dependencies you can install. (Eg: directx , .net) Even if your not technical. I would say get on the beta program and give it a try.

I've entered the Android YogaBook's BIOS and noticed that VT-X is enabled by default! With Limbo x86 we could get a fully working virtualized Windows or Linux, if it wasn't for... KVM. It seems like it's not enabled in Lenovo's default kernel. Could we get to recompile the kernel with this option on? i'm not a big android/ROM expert but i surfed the open_source_code folder from Lenovo and it seemed, to me, that we could rebuild the Kernel at least.
This could really change things!

Could we get to recompile the kernel with this option on? i'm not a big android/ROM expert but i surfed the open_source_code folder from Lenovo and it seemed, to me, that we could rebuild the Kernel at least.

Non-Phone/Tablet Android Inquiry

Hello all,
I did a lot a searching but cant seem to find much in terms of what I am looking for, though who knows maybe I am looking for the wrong thing. If so, hopefully can direct me to the correct place.
So I have a device, lets call it a TV for arguments sake. It runs a manufacturers custom android OS. It uses / runs on nvidia jetson architecture. I have successfully gained access to the device via ADB but when I attempt to get it to go to a bootloader, it doesnt seem to have one? Which I know is wrong from my reading but when I do either of the following two commands: adb reboot bootloader / adb reboot recovery, I result at a blank screen indefinitely.
So the question I have is I must be doing something wrong to be unable to find the bootloader. Is there a place in the file structure I can confirm/look?
End goal: So Id really like this device to run a full android or some type of android where I can utilize typical android apps instaed of the locked down shell of an OS the manufacturer has put on. I am open to this being accomplished in any way really whether, booting from USB to android stored on USB, dual booting (both manufacturers OS and full android being available), wiping current OS and only having android, etc. Open to any options really.
Mainly looking for some guidance on how to figure out what this actually runs and how to replace it/modify it.

[CLOSED] Android to PPP connection

I am trying to set up a PPP connection from a Zte MF820b 4G LTE USB modem/router to a WiFi only Android tablet with a 4.2.2 os that has a custom ROM installed which technically shouldnt of been jailbroken. The tablet is running a Linux version 2.4.3 and KERNEL:3.0.36. The problem here is me. I am a complete newbie, but do know a little about command prompts and how this should work in theory. The tablet is fully rooted and has all the necessary applets installed via busy box(chat, nc, pppd, ect) and terminal emulator, or at least I think that's what's necessary. I installed PPPwidget 2 and 3 but as apk's and since they are not from the Play Store will not function. I have Google play store installed but its all but useless since I can not log into my account, for reasons I suspect as being that the system is too old and says something about the connection not being secure or private and as such...can not actually get the app with license verification from Google play store. I tried to lucky patch the apk and remove license verification but that did nothing as well. However the apk will read the modem and ask permission to allow pppwidget to be used but shortly fail after for the aforementioned lack of correct license. There must be a way to manually call the modem and connect via terminal emulator using adb ppp or nc? Without any understanding on how to actually write a script I'm hoping someone can help me get this functioning. Situation beyond current controll will not allow me to work with anything other than what's at hand, and I'm willing to pay for someones time if I can actually get this working. I also have a tablet with a different os (8.1 Oreo) should that be easier. With the 4.2.2 the device pops up as "storage" in my file manager. With the 8.1 it pops up as a device Id number when I type in lsusb in my terminal emulator. The 8.1 has Termux installed should that open up a different venue. The carrier I'm using is T-Mobile and the nameserver and ISP info is NS1-AUTH.SPRINTLINK.NET; IP 206.228.179.10. The device is functional as when the opportunity arose I was able to plug up to a computer and try it out. That's no longer viable. Again, I'm willing to pay for the help as I'm sure I'll need to correspond back and forth a few times and will probably need help writing the correct script if needed.
