You can't, it's not for that device, at most you could take some apps and "try" to get them working. But there may be dependencies that the apps need that your device may not have.

which kind of question is?

I'm just saying that it is sufficient to remove all odex-files and will be deodexed firmware (as dex-components is within the APK). Or do you want to say that nobody knows here?

muahahaha if so why then deodexing script exists?
have you ever tryed to compare smali files that are into classes.dex in an apk if are the same as in its odex file?
if same you can freely remove odex.....
Your solution maybe can work for some apks but is not recommended(absolutely for system apps), especially when you try to port apk and features..... so stop saying wrong suggestions, otherwise we will have dozen of users blaming and crying for apk FC.
And a lot of developers being seen idiots cause they have written deodex scripts???
read, read and read again
i see yuor career as developer muahahaha

Can you upload (or share the link if already exists) original ROM?
If these packages were really deodexed then it's really bad! ART compatible ROMs don't require deodex at all. Just delete odex files. APK/JAR have dex inside.
But after deodexing many class references are tampered because of deodexer technics.
---------- Post added at 08:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:35 PM ----------
Oh, common.. Where is lib, etc, vendor folders? Such a wasted download...
System APKs require libraries and don't include them inside package. So, this "dump" is mostly useless...

Here you're the link http://inclu.net:82/SAMSUNG/Galaxy Note 4/20149021/#upload
It's not entire rom (only app,priv-app,lib and framework fold).

Did anyone find utility to convert qmg<->png graphics? Starting from Android 4.4.4 Samsung uses QMG images instead of PNG.
I'm not talking about official samsung theme creator. When you need to convert hundred of images - only command-line utility can help.

How to de-odex a Desire ROM?

Helllo everybody
Can anybody tell me (or a link?) how I can de-odex the rootedupdate.zip version 1.21.405.2?
Thank u
http://code.google.com/p/smali/wiki/DeodexInstructions
how space does de-odexing save? if that is one of its benefit
I tried it with the auto deodexer from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598026
The "De-odexing process" was successful. I de-odexed the /system/framework and the /system/app folder.
But if I replace the old /app and /framework with the de-odexed ones, my device doesn't startup.
Can anybody help me?
Flash the rom and then boot with logcat and search for the problem.

I'm having the same problem, do you solve it???
@ nickiberli : Download dsixda's kitchen and install it following his directions. It has all the tools you need to get started customizing ROMs. I believe your problem is that your .zip is not being signed which is another thing that his kitchen does for you.
@ ermacwins : Basically, (I'm not 100% on this explanation) "de-odexed" .apks are simply a .zip with a different extension. This allows further customization of the .apk. "odexed" .apks are split into two files, an ".apk" and an ."odex". The "odexed" .apk still contains the information that the "de-odexed" contains but is spread across the two files. To answer your question, I don't believe that a "de-odexed" rom saves you any more space than an "odexed" rom or vice versa.
@slavatore82 : Try the stuff I posted above. It should work for you. It's the method I've been using and it works great.

When you deodex your files try to set compression level less than default. Till to 0. After deodex first boot-up might take about 10-15 min.
Dont know if this is going to shine light to anyones perspective view, but it did too me.

Getting rid of TouchWiz looks / reverting to stock system UI

Hi,
thanks to all the rooted ROMs here I was able to do some changes, like removing the SMS app and placing back the stock one. I am sure that something like it can be done with the phone/contacts as those APKs are around too.
What I don't know how to do is to get rid of the aweful touchwiz gray status bar, colored settings and mostly hideous 2.3-like dialogs that touchwiz uses.
I thought I just replace SystemUI.apk but that did not work at all, kept force-closing.
Can anone point me the right direction? Do I have to change the resources (png and XML) inside the systemui.apk and then repackage it? I know how to edit layout xmls since I am an app developer, but I never repackaged apks, especially when they come with OBEX classes.
Or is it not even possible without completely new ROM?
Some rooted roms here have black notification bar.
You might wanna check them out
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
Hi no only systemUI test change also in settings.apk and framwork-res.apk now for change on apk need deodexed one
Well I have tried the apktool to decompile, but that fails, surely because of it being odex apk.
What suprised me though is that the Minecraft-method fails too. That is removing META-INF and simply changing a few PNGs. That I thought would work. I did use zipalign 4 after changing those PNGs...
Give it time. They're still working on getting us a functional recovery.

Well I actually wanted to get into it and provide the stock-like SystemUI.apk for others
If anyone still interested...
I finally found a nice guide for deodexing here, did everything like I should - deodex, repackage, sign and zipalign, but SystemUI keeps crashing.
I never found anything about having a special signing key, but that's the only thing that I can think of that can be wrong.
try attached and if need complet rom try with mediafire link

Thanks, the deodexed attached apk works.
The question is what I did wrong Will try re-signing this one and if that fails I must be f-ing up the signing process I guess
(I should really stop double-posting)
So I tried to remove META-INF and sign manually using the debug.keystore from eclipse (used to develop apps) and SystemUI force-closes.
What am I doing wrong in the signing process that mine does not work and yours does?

Oh now I get it, you just created deodexed APK, which actually does not need resigning because you added classes.dex which was not there before.
It is still signed by Samsung original key and that's why your works.
So now my problem is how to get around the signature
Thanks anyway for steering me on the right track.

This MOD adds floating posts Note 4 SM-N910F - Lollipop 5.1.1 Deodex Rom, which is what I use, I'm not saying to not work on any other model Note 4.
The zip is composed of multiple files and apks, for installation by modified recovery, so you have to be root.
Needless to say, prior to installation, backup, just in case.
Inside the zip and the CSC folder, this features.xml, it can be removed by double clicking on the zip and seeking CSC folder (completely delete this folder), provided that in system / csc / or features others.xml .xml your rom the following lines are already included:

For multi languages its usually built into the ROM. Fixing gapps depends on what's wrong with it.
When you extract your rom what gapps are you trying to fix?

When recompiling SystemUI does it need to be signed, zipaligned, or both?

I am not the best to answer this honestly. I have not modified an apk since KitKat. The plugin is there for people such as yourself who want to use it. It has all the signing options I am aware of. If you don't get any other answers, I suggest trying them all to see what works for you

Hey @SuperR. I have a general apktool question.
I want to make some SystemUI mods for my ROM.
When recompiling SystemUI does it need to be signed, zipaligned, or both?
Your tool is awesome btw.

For system apps, I use winrar, or if using linux the default archive manager, to move the modified files into the original. I try to keep the meta-inf, sec-inf, and androidmanifest.xml intact on the original app and just drag the res, classes.dex (if modifying smali), and resources.arsc into the original. Then just zipalign.
Thats worked for me on 6.0.1, I think some things may have changed with 7.0.1 and I'm by no means an expert but thats how I do it.

So would it be like this:
1) Install frameworks
2) Decompile apk
3) Make modifications
4) Rename APK file to .zip to allow for pasting res and resources.arsc
5) Paste modified res and resources.arsc into the zip archive.
6) Rename the zip archive back to an apk file.
7) Push apk to /system/priv-app/SystemUI/SystemUI.apk.
8) Perform chmod 0644 on the apk.
I'm a complete noob at this so I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

Yep, that's how I do it. Except you dont have to rename your apk files, they'll open up in archive just like a zip. With jar files I just push without having to drag anything to the original and they'll work.
If you ever decide to modify the framework-res or certain system apps like secsettings, camera, contacts, and probably some others, I have to do those with Windows and winrar because they dont seem to work with the normal compression mode. Winrar lets you change the compression mode from normal to store. Thats the only I can get those working.
