Spigen Neo Hybrid review - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

I just received a Spigen Neo Hybrid for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Alpha.
I have been using this case for about a day and if you're familiar with Spigen then you will not be disappointed with the Neo Hybrid for the galaxy Alpha. The case has a very snug fit and resembles the corners of the galaxy Alpha without a case. Both the volume and power buttons are very responsive you still have tactile feedback through the button covers. Below I will attach some photos and I will upload a video review to YouTube shortly.

looks like a good case. I might have to check on picking one up. I am currently without a case right now

I was REALLY looking forward to this case since having the same Neo Hybrid on my previous devices... However, this Neo Hybrid for the Alpha just seems to be a lazy attempt. On my previous iPhone 5S Neo Hybrid, the case matched up the speaker grill with dotted holes, on my Nexus the same, but on the Alpha Neo Hybrid, it looks like they've just made a big cutout instead. It just doesn't seem to look as professional a job as they used to do.

I have the case on my alpha as well and it does fit awesome. Im also running spigen screen protector and it also and that fits great.
good in hand feel and keeps it still pretty thin

I got my Neo Hybrid on its way. Pretty excited!
I am enjoying the S View case quite a bit as well.

I got my Neo Hybrid last week and I have to say it's probably one of the nicest cases I've ever had. There are a couple of issues I have with the case though:
1) The power and volume buttons are very sensitive, I keep accidentally powering the phone on/off or adjusting the volume.
2) The hole at the top is too small for some headphone jacks.

This case actually looks pretty horrible in my opinion. It takes the Alpha's design and simply destroys it. The neo hybrid engraving on the side seems really tacky , as is the auto focus on the back. Really don't see the reason for either.
I guess if you're looking for protection, this case will surely deliver, but frankly I can't ever see anyone who cares about the way the phone looks buying that case.
No offence intended to anyone who's bought it of course.

Case looks great.
If I get Alpha , will get 2500 Mah kit , unfortunately will not fit....

Just got the Samsung wireless charging back cover and it fits with this case I don't know how thick the 2500 kit will be but the back cover is made out of silicon so I might stretch over to fit it

I have the Neo Hybrid as well. It may not be the most stylish out there, but in my opinion it is still a great looking case that provides ample protection, especially when in conjunction with a tempered glass screen protector. I finally feel safe using my Alpha as a phone instead of using it as a piece of jewelry.

Thanks for the info
This case seems really great and almost perfect for the Alpha. I will try to get my hands on one and try it.

just curious if anyone ever try fake spigen neo hybrid ?
seem fake have more color variation than the original one.

Saw them too on Ebay, looks interesting!

I got this case and I was a bit disappointed. I thought the frame would be metal, but it feels so cheap and brittle. And I hate the hole for the USB port, I can barely fit the original Samsung usb cable in there without bending the plastic frame. It does feel nice in the hand though. But I hope more cases come out for this phone soon. Because right now I'd rather just have it without a case.

I ordered a fake spigen on aliexpress. I going to give you my feed back as soon as I receive it !

I bought one and was impressed keeps the quality feel while also protecting.
If you want to go caseless, its like the most nervous 5 mins of taking a phone case of you've ever experienced, its so snug you fell its either the phone or the case thats gonna go and its a very thin line you tread.
Other than that great case.

Does this case (spigen neo hybrid) fit with the phone with installed Samsung wireless charging back cover?

The case actually just broke right above the charging port. I just sanded the rough edges and now it's great.

Hi,
Could you please let me know how bulky the device became after isntalling the case? Can you maybe measure it? For me the width is the most important thing.
Thanks!

Bumper gel skin case generic

I wasn't finding many bumper cases besides aluminum versions out there so I decided to try out a generic one I found on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170818419766&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:1123
It was $5.99 including shipping. They have a few other colors available. The description is for "Samsung Galaxy Note i9220, n7000", but it fits the i717 great.

The black rubber buttons over the volume and power buttons make everything easy to press.
I like how the black outlines the front of the Note. The case fits mostly snug although mine is a little loose at the top (giving a slight wave on the black as it runs along the top)
I wasn't sure about white on white, but I think it works.
I had a SGP Neo Hybrid EX on my GSII and loved it. This case is definitely not as good quality, but is good for the money and will do until I find just the right one.
Edit: After several weeks of use, my only complaint is the soft black rubber can come apart from the harder white plastic. A little super glue takes care of it. I use it in a car mount that squeezes on the sides so that probably makes the problem worse.
Looks pretty good, I'm definitely interested. Why is that top corner exposed though? Maybe put a zagg full body or something on it and you'd be pretty secure.
How tight is it? I have a GLAS.t glass screen protector and I wonder if it would still fit.

It is flexible and while snug not tight so I don't think another 0.4mm thickness would cause problems.
My SGP Neo Hybrid EX for the GSII (I bought the non-US version of the case because I didn't want to wait ) had the same open area on the corner. I believe some countries have an option for an external or retractable antenna that pops out there.

I didn't even know such a product existed. I found a few others on ebay. I'm thinking of getting a less bulky case. Right now I'm using the seidio active. I'm afraid of breaking anything because I dropped it the first week and cracked my screen ($200 replacement!) so I bought the glass screen protector for my new one. I think this would be the perfect level of protection and still keep it looking good and slim. I'm not as worried about the battery cover as you can just buy a new one for $13 off eBay.
Thanks for the review and the link. It's nice to see that this is a US seller with excellent feedback score.

Antenna for Korea. The i9220 is their version. Case looks nice, I like the bumper look...but still has the lip to protect it

I took my case on and off a few times over the weekend playing with uSD cards and another battery. I noticed one corner of the case looked funny (it came up over the screen more than it should). The black soft rubbery material had pulled away from the white harder material on that corner. A little super glue fixed it, but thought I would let others know. Still OK for a total of $5.99. If anyone finds a quality TPU/rubber type bumper case, please post a link.
good find...just bought one!
I also just ordered one! $6? Worth a shot at that price...

Cases for the beautiful beast

Hey guys finally ditched the samsung camp and got myself a Nexus 6 for relatively cheap here in the uk, xpansys selling for £250 with a free Google Chromecast.
Initially I was over come by the sheer size of this phone, and in now pretty worried that I'll drop it or "scuff" the soft touch case.
Anyone able to recommend a slimline but smart looking case & screen protector that doesn't take away from its looks? Thanks guys.

Best I've found over the past year:
http://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Essential-Protector-Scratch-Resistant-Protective/dp/B00O152P7G
The SF Black has a nice soft touch to it and it comes with a screen protector. I'm sure there are better protectors on the market but for an all in one package it's tough to beat. Only gripe is that I wish it had the Moto dimple cut out. That would make it perfect for me.
Third one looks good ?.

just run mine naked - love the looks of the phone
The incipio dual pro fits this beast well and has a nice grippy feel to it
I'm using Nillkin Frosted Shield case. Really slim and gripped so it's not slips from the hand. I don't really know if it's protects from dropping, but I don't really care about it because I'm really careful with my devices and I have tempered glass on it.
I got two different ones and use them both (not at the same time) depending on the need for the day.
The first one is really nice/inexpensive and since I got clear it doesn't affect my original color choice for the phone (which is white). It came with a free screen protector but despite rather significant experience at applying protectors this one didn't go so good so I removed it and now I'm just going without, but that's mostly because I use the second case most of the time.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SX1NNJI/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The second one is a larger pouch case and it's my favorite because it allows me to keep the phone naked so it will fit in the Proclip custom mount in my truck. I can still easily hear alarms, notifications, etc with the phone in this case. It protects the screen and the whole phone very well. It's a little pricey but really good quality/construction. My phone is in this case like 99% of the time.

The OP was looking for a slimline case. That's the total opposite, probably the biggest case you can get for the N6. The Ringke Fusion is probably the one the OP wants. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ringke-FUSI...hash=item3aad336132:m:mm5wuDQt5cp30pfU-E1_3cQ

This is hands down the thinest quality case you can get for our phone.
There were a couple of links in this thread for Ringke cases and I would absolutely agree. Ringke cases are superb.
Also , if you are looking for a tempered glass screen protector then look no further than this :

Lol, I just received this same case yesterday. While I love the thin design which covers all 4 sides and back I wouldn't trust it in a drop from any distance. But then again I don't what something too thick because I also carry a iPhone 6s. Just couldn't pass up on a $200 Nexus 6.

Looking For A Very Slim Case With Protection

I am currently using the "Spigen Neo Hybrid Case" and i want a 2nd case that's more slim.
what i have in mind is the "Spigen Thin Fit Case", but iam not sure are there other good alternatives out there.
any suggestion guys/girls ?
Diztronic. My go to for all new phones. S7 link here: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Diztronic-Flexible-Slim-Fit/dp/B01BDWIOJW/
Got a cheap BodyGlove case at WalMart. Too slippery for me but by far the thinnest I've found for it
I`ve bought a real carboncase. It`s the thinnest you can find.
Checkout the Shumuri https://shumuri.com/collections/sam...lim-for-samsung-galaxy-s7?variant=24018989062
I 2nd the Diztronic recommendation. My S7 is my 4th phone with a Diztronic TPU case.

I'm currently using the Spigen thin fit case and I love it, looks awesome as its not thick like most cases.
this is my option :
- SPIGEN Rugged Armor Samsung Galaxy S7 – BLACK
- RINGKE Slim SAMSUNG Galaxy S7
- SHUMURI Slim 0.35mm Samsung Galaxy S7
- VERUS Single Fit Samsung Galaxy S7
I've literally tried almost every big name brand at this point. And I love the Ringke SLIM Case
I have the Spigen Slim Fit and was happy with it until I found the Nillkin frosted.
http://www.nillkin-case.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=4469
I now have both and only ever use the Nillkin. They're very similar but the Nillkin is very slightly thinner whilst offering great protection and also has slightly less plastic covering the phone, which I like. It also has better grip as the back is textured (nurled) and Spigen is mat-ish finish. The coating on the Spigen has also started to chip/wear after only a short time, which is disappointing. The Nillkin doesn't have any coating as it's through-coloured and the texturing is moulded in so no wear issues at all. The final decider was that the Nillkin obscures less of the screen (by about 1mm each side) than the Spigen and the lip at the front is also lower, making swiping in from either side easier. The Nillkin also works perfectly with the Ultimate Shield Tempered Glass protector as there's around 1/2mm clearance between the protector and edge of case.
One last thing is that the plastic it's made from isn't totally rigid but it is hard-ish. It does have some elasticity, which can only be a good thing. You can twist the case very slightly with gentle force and this flexibility must surely give greater bump protection than the rigid plastic cases which just shatter in impact. It also allows wireless charging as well without any issue.
The Nillkin is the best case I've ever had and perfect balance of protection, coverage and grip and for the money its' unbeatable. I'll be buying these from now on for all my phones.

For me that's a positive. I wanted a minimal case but which will still give good protection. If you want ultra protection you need a rugged case. The likelihood of dropping the phone cleanly on one of the ends (perpendicular impact) is almost zero. With this case the back and corners are (almost) fully covered and AFAIAC that's enough. The Spigen Ultra Slim that you said you liked in the OP gives the same level of protection to the ends but possibly 1-2mm more corner protection but they're still not fully covered. TBH I don't see why either company couldn't cover the ends and corners fully (with a small slit on the corners to allow for fitting), would seem logical.
You can try Ringke's Ultra Thin case. It covers all sides of the phone. Very lightweight and and thin.

Not sure if this classifies as "slim" for most people, but I came from an LG G3 with the Zerolemon battery so anything is slim. Wireless charging, Samsung pay, all work with this case.
I chose a little more "bump" for my buck with the Symmetry case, but I've since dropped it several times and had no adverse effects.
I have Ringke Air Smoke and it's very cool for me!

Any cases like the Spigen Thin Fit?

I just got my s8 around 3 weeks ago and I'm currently using the thin fit case from spigen in black colour and I'm loving the grippy surface. however after around 2 weeks the rubber started peeling off in flakes and it's really annoying as i keep getting the flakes on my hand and in my pocket. Is this just my case or does this happen to all of the thin fit cases out there. and are there any other cases that feel almost exactly the same as this case? (slimness and the cutouts at the volume rocker and the power button)
here's how mine looks currently

Wow that picture is crazy. I've had the thin fit for many phones, never had that happen. There's only one logical explanation.
http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/158/326/9148130.jpg
Either that, or you literally sweat battery acid from your palms. Amazing.
That's just being careless. Amazing how you can ruin a case in 3 weeks. It's full of scratches and holes.
RINGKE Slim. I got it when I had the S8+. I like this version better as it covers all four sides of the phone. Unfortunately I order for s8+ and got regular s8 case instead. Returned case for refund, eventually got rid of s8+ too. (I can never stick with one device for too long)
a little pricey but it goes on sale sometimes. meets a lot of your requirements. not sure how sticky the case is compared to the thin fit. my thin fit is almost too sticky

The holes are for the power, volume, and Bixby buttons, and for the camera/fingerprint scanner module.
I have one that is very similar to Spigen Thin Fit.
Actually, is even better on the texture (doesn't catch dirt) and even thinner.
I did had the same problems as you on the Spigen, the coating started to peel off on less than a month of use.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071RNV4L3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am using the Spigen Thin fit and my finish on the phone is still very good. I used the same case on the 5x without having that happen. Had to be something you cleaned it with or just defective. However i ordered a carbon fiber case similar to it, real carbon fiber from Amazon. Can't wait.
Obviously way more expensive but based on the reviews i say worth it.
Try Galaxy S8 Case, VANSIN 3 In 1 Ultra Thin $9.99 /w 4.5 stars on 62 reviews. Also rubberized matte like Spigen Thin Fit.
I have the same problem. Not to the same extend, but it's certainly fading.
For now I live with it. Doesn't look to nice but still does it's job. And no, it's neither being careless nor acidic sweat. My phone sits in a desk all day or is in my pocket alone. From my guitar experience I can tell you for sure I don't have sweat that's any kind of wearing on materials. The quality of this cases finish is just sub par...

My Spigen Slim Fit is doing the exact same thing after 2 months. I no longer see the slim fit on Spigen's site anymore, mby they know something is wrong with those cases. I have always used Spigen, but this is a total let down. That carbon fiber case looks great!

Curious how that gold plating holds up after use, or a small drop. If you purchased it can you give feedback or show actual pics of the case?
Thanks for recommendations
wish i saw this thread before i ordered the exact same case as the OP
mine's only a week old so far, so obviously no problems. but i'm familiar with this coating and i know it won't last (lots of computer mouse use this kind of coating)

cases so far

these are the cases I have managed to acquire so far
first photo left to right razer rugged, orzly leather folio case, orzly thin black ,orzly thin frosted, 2nd photo tudia case and razer thin. I'm currently using one of the 2 tudias I bought as they are similar to a spigen slim armour ruggedized TPU with a polycarb snap on back armour, anyone wanting full pics of the cases and how much each costs from where I'll be uploading pics of each case to my drive account so people can see before they buy there are lots of other cases mainly TPU appearing on Amazon, but for anyone who hasn't bought a case I'll try and get each one done over the next day or 2

how do you like the tudias? can you post more pics of those
I'm using the tudia with the silver back breaks up the all the black it looks good doesn't add much bulk , the finger print reader port has been thoughtfully scalloped away to make using it easier, the cylinder buttons work flawlessly, even with an orzly screen protector there's a good .5 mm clearance from it to the desk when face down and about 1mm all round when face down so the speakers are kept clear of the desk cut outs are precise good clearance on back to protect camera .

I just received my orzly case today and I gotta say I'm a little disappointed. I bought the "clear" one which I found out later was actually frosted, and unlike the pics show, it's pretty much nowhere clear clear.. You can see the Razer symbol, but that's about it. I'm definitely ordering the tudia clear shortly, my original idea was to wrap the phone with a dbrand then use the clear case as extra protection, but you ain't seeing anything through this thing lol

have to say if the clear is the same quality as this rugged case it'll be a nice case for showcasing your phone with a skin without damaging the skin

I bought the Razer Rugged case however was fine the fact that it left a weird lip at the bottom of my phone just didn't feel natural to hold so gone back to using the phone without a case.
I know living life of the edge but don't have a habit of cosmetically damaging my phone's.
I didnt like the phone in a case either but couldnt live on the edge any longer, I dropped my last phone a day before the delivery of my razer.
Ive made a suede case for the razor with all the holes punch out, its pretty neet - ill update with pictures when im home.
Got the Orzly wallet case. Not bad in general. One major downside is the usb cutout. Razer uses squared profile on their connectors, but the case had rounded profile which prevented original accessories from being inserted all the way. Had to do some carving with scissors. Not the end of the world, but could be better
Thank you

Just got my Spigen case it's the best case I own thus far and I own the Razer official case, orzly case, and the tudia case. Pick this up you won't be disappointed.
I picked up the Spigen rugged armor and it lifts the Razer screen protector
The Tudia doesn't lift a screen protector, but you have to get it centered perfectly. I've tried them all, the razer cases were the biggest POS's... Their rugged case was a joke and if you take them off without paying attention, you almost snap it in half because of their stupid design of having no side walls in the center area.
Been happy with the Tudia, still want something more like an otterbox defender. But I think I'm going to just 3d print something stupid awesome and thick.
I have this Orzly case in orange.
Fits perfect. Charging hole is big enough and the edge keeps the screen off the table if you put it screen down (which I never do).
Camera is also protected (if put on a flat surface).
Adds grip, so you won't let the phone slip out of your hand.
