Aspect Ratio - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

I seem to get only 4:3 aspect ratio on my camera. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe it should be in Q&A. But bumping it up just once. Looking at camera specs in theory it should support all sorts of resolutions from 13 to lets say 2. In theory it should accept both ratios. 4:3 and 16:9. But the only one the native camera app supports is 4:3. I've tried couple of other apps that support 16:9 but they seem to be lacking.
Google Camera should support 16:9 but that's not available until Kit Kat 4.4.
Can anyone come up with solution?
Thanks in advance.

Try LGCamera? If you use 16:9 ratio you'll being using a lower MP rating something like 12mp instead of max 13.1.

13 megapixel images are 4:3 ratio.
Change your camera shots to 10 megapixel and they will be 16:9 ratio

Just to verify, LGCamera does allow using resolutions not available in the stock Huawei camera. The highest resolution available at 16:9 is just 2 Megapixels, but there is an 8.8 Megapixel option at 2:1 aspect ratio.

Not sure what camera app you are using - but the default HAM2 camera has resolution options of 13, 8, 5, 3.2 and 0.9 - and only the 0.9 option is 16:9 the other are 4:3
Thanks for the suggestion however.

The app called

in the play store can do 16:9 @ 8.8MP.

I'm using the stock camera on MT2-L05 4.4.2
10 Megapixels on the stock camera on 4.4.2 is 16:9 ratio. (4160x2336)
Your MT2-L03 must be different.

All AOSP cameras that I have dealt with in the past only go to 5MP for some reason. Maybe because there isn't any Google phones (nexus series) that support higher than a 5mp camera. Guessing there is a modification that can be done to support higher resolution but no one ever seems to ask/care.

Hello, all I need is a wisescreen size, it doen't matter if its 5 or 8MP. Do you think it's possible?, are there any apps that replace the original camera?

Try out camera 360 pro, IMHO its the best 3rd party camera on the market. Previously the pro version was paid (i paid for it a long time ago) but now it is free and all the pro features are included.

@DUHAlgerianSkills Yes, but same... I think you have t800: as hardware is same, do you have freezes?
You need a 13 megapixel or higher camera to record in 4k resolution. All versions of the Tab S only have an 8 megapixel camera so it is not possible.

Ummmm..... the resolution of the screen is 1600x2560 for both tablets. Neither tablet supports video out (through an adaptor) at anywhere close to 4k resolution. So what is the point? You do not gain anything for getting a 4k video to run and you end up withna file that takes up extra space or bandwidth.
I kinda understand wanting to record 4k video, but my issue with doing thst is that if you want to record a file that is going to contain that much visual clarity you probably should pick a better camera lens then what you get on the average tablet/smartphone.
I love the screen that Samsung has put on the galaxy tab S. I love the fact my 8.4" is retina (impossible or at least very hard to notice individual pixels) at a distance of 10" (12" for the 10.5" model).

idk
I managed to record video in 4K 24fps using the open camera or LG camera app has the playstore
I know the files are huge, especially using superfine pixel resolution and other picture enhancing features. I have a Samsung NX1 camera which records 4K video, and UHD 4K, and it uses approx 100MB a minute. That's not as bad as a Red Dragon Video Camera, which records video at 250MB a second.

Is Poco front camera 20mp or 5mp?

Can someone with more knowledge explain this to me...
Not that I care a lot about the front camera but on Pocophone website the front camera is advertised as 20 mp but when I use Gcam or any hardware info app, the front camera has only 5mp, why?
It's actually a 20mp sensor . either hardware info app or gcam are getting information of IR camera which is 5mp or other thing could be that as it does pixel binning (4 pixels into 1 for better low light photography) thus 20mp into 5mp

Gcam is limited to 5mp by Google.
It's because of pixel binning..
4pixel = 1 pixel
20mp=5mp

No its just limitation of camera2api
Try to use gcam and after stock camera app (take a front camera picture) you will see the difference..

I am not complaining about the Gcam port, actually that is great to have, my question comes because I have an app called Devcheck that shows info about the hardware and there too the front camera shows only 5mp.
Can Anyone suggest an hardware app that detect the front camera as a 20mp?
You can confirm the specs cameras with device info HW app.

Asus Zenfone 6 Google Camera APK/Gcam Mod

Asus Zenfone 6 Google Camera APK/Gcam Mod.
Anyone with Zenfone 6 please share the compatibility with Gcam 6.1 or 6.2. This phone has near stock android and Sony IMX 586 sensor so i think it will have great gcam support. I wonder if third party camera app will be able to trigger the flip camera, for example shooting selfie with the 48mp camera using gcam.
Updated : 12/06/19 : Asus is sending Zenfone 6 to @Arnova8G2 for development https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-6-custom-rom-twrp-lineageos/
Arnova release the first gcam for Zenfone 6, supports 48MP HDR+ Enhanced https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/#apk935

Theoretically we shouldn't be able to shoot RAW, but from the information i've gathered we can shoot raw in stock camera app. I don't know how's the situation in 3rd party apps.
I'm worried a bit about gcam now. How will it work without full level_3 support.

Many phones also have full support instead of level 3 and gcam works fine. Including zenfone 5z.
Without raw support, (sony phone) the gcam will not work.

Dunno much about this stuff but I downloaded the Camera2 API Probe app on my Xiaomi Mix 3 just to see what the results are, and they are the same as the ones in TechTablet's Zenfone 6 video. And GCam works perfectly fine on my Mix 3. So it should work on the Zenfone 6 as well. The question that remains is, will the camera flip when switching to selfie cam in GCam? I haven't seen anyone test GCam on this phone yet.

Interesting. I think it's because of the SD855 chipset. Which version did you test? If you don't mind, try this one https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_RazerPhone2_V1c.apk according to cstark it works on the SD855 Samsung Galaxy S10e.

I'd suggest trying ones that work on the Xiaomi Mi 9.
It's SD855 and the same camera module.
I did a lot of tries with unfortunately no luck. Seems the camera is overall inferior to the Mi8 which is somewhat disappointing :/

Question Recording 4K 60fps in 16:9?

According to TechNick's review video, Xperia 1 III has no option to record 60fps in full 4K resolution of 3840×2160 (16:9), but only cropped 3840×1644 (21:9), even in Cinema Pro. Is this true? If so, would there be any workaround to record 3840×2160 @ 60fps? I pray someone makes a mod to unlock this functionality.

I am waiting om my shipment, so can not verify that is a solution. Sorry
There's a free and open-source solution if the camera hardware supports 4k60 - OpenCamera. Works great with recent Sony phones because there isn't too much proprietary stuff in camera hardware.
