What can I do with my 13.3.2.1? - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have been watching this thread for some time, but since I'm a noob, I am not sure what to make of some of the posts.
All I see is: bootloop, towelroot, safestrap, rollback, etc.
All I want to know is: can I root my HDX Thor 13.3.2.1? If not, what steps do I take to do next best thing?
Do I roll back first? How do I do it? Do I install towelroot? Safestrap?
I just need a simple and fairly easy to understand (for a nood) guide to Thor 13.3.2.1. Or do I still wait until a full 101% root comes out?
Thanks

Just use towelroot.

Question on downgrade

I originally updated from MI1 to MJ7, which was a stupid move, but just wondering if there is anyway to downgrade back in order to have full root and benefits?
I want to restore my phone and if I can go back, that would be great, because I don't want to go forward because if there is a new upadte it would make it worse instead of better, in terms of rooting.
Please advise

Just keep taking OTAs up to MK2 (The latest). From there you can root and install safestrap (and a safestrap compatible rom). You cannot flash AOSP roms; the bootloader is locked down post MDK. This thread is pretty much all you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501
so can mk2 be rooted?

You should probably read the stickied thread at the top of the forum.
Its called What you need to know before, during and after modifying your verizon S4
Its probably relevant to your interests no?
This is the second time someone has linked you to it. I promise you if you READ THE WHOLE THING before asking anymore questions, you wont have questions to ask.

Yes. Search for "Saferoot". I can't stress enough....... RESEARCH FIRST. It will save you a lot of headaches.

alright, one last question because it is NOT listed in that thread,
Where can i download the mk2 to load it manually because i am not a verizon customer but have a verizon s4 which i use with tmobile so it does not allow me to do OTA because it keeps telling me that Service is temporarily unavailable.
Please advise

As linked to from the provided thead Customizing your Verizon Galaxy S4 - what's possible and what's not
Has links to the updates that it is possible to flash, see the recover by reflashing stock section.
Seriously, its a pretty expensive phone and you can totally ruin it. Not a bad idea to read through that info people keep trying to give you.

[Q] Currently on ME7/HD10.2, want to upgrade but I am overthinking everything, help

I know that this is answered somewhere, but I keep searching and finding multiple threads that say different things, and I'm confusing the hell out of myself, sorry for bothering you guys with it.
So I'm currently on ME7 with HD10.2. I was reading around and it seems like people have HD16 stable on SS, so I want to get myself up to 4.4.
Now first I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868 but I think I have to upgrade to NC2 first.
Then I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579278. Can I use this to run to MJ7, then go to NC from there?
Then I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51955929&highlight=me7#post51955929 and this one seemed like it was built to be fast and easy. But the first step mentions an MK2 'downgrade'. Obviously it wouldn't be a downgrade for me, but is it still okay for me to use the full steps from method 1 to get myself off of ME7?
I'm about to start by updating my SS to 3.72, but is it possible to do what I want on 3.71? Seems like the ROM slots can't be used on 3.72, and putting a ROM in the stock slot bothers me.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm current;y on SS 3.65

Man, I was in the EXACT same boat as you. I was afraid to lose root, brick my phone, etc... I took the plunge and I just updated my phone to NC5 OTA. From there, I followed Surge's method to downgrade and upgrade to a pre-rooted NC5 stock rom. It took me 2 hours from start to finish and it was a nerve-racking experience (even after doing this type of stuff for over 5 years now). But I followed his method and also watched the Youtube videos as well. After the whole thing was over, I was so glad I did it, so much so, that I was confident enough to do it on my wife's phone, too. I am on HD 16.1 and she is on Echoe Rom v22. Good luck! :good:

If you're in ME7, the first thing you need to do is to get upgraded to MK2.
I'd flash the no-wipe MK2 from this thread.
That'll avoid upgrading ME7 to MI1, MI1 to MJ7, then MJ7 to MK2.
Once you're on MK2, you can follow one of the upgrade threads to upgrade to NC5. Gigilie's method might work, getting you to MK2 at step 1, but it's probably better to get to MK2 first, then attempt the upgrade.
This method has a lot of success http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769480

[Q] Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 SafeStrap possible?

Hi My tablet got up dated to 14.3.2.5 but I was able to get Towel Root to work on it so I now have root and Xpose Framework on there with module HDXpose on it. I wanted to know is it safe to install SafeStrap on there and how to go about doing it with the update I am on. I looked around but haven't got a clear answer and is why I am asking. I under stand there may not be away and that this may not get a response. Thank you for at least reading this.
P.S. How do you stop OTA as well. Thanks,

[Q] Updated to Lollipop.. bad idea.. Is there a root available?

Mistakes were made but a lesson was deff. learned.
Just started reading up on rooting and the benefits seem great, especially on this Verizon phone.
I'm wondering if there's currently a root available (guessing not or this forum would be all over it.)
Has any site/user from here stated someone working on one? Would be awesome to know.
New to rooting, hope to become more familiar, any insight would be cool! Thanks
If you take the OC1 update there is no root for it.
However if you have root there are ways post on here to keep it and get OC1.
Search the forums and read up on your options.

Yeah I took the update... Does that mean I'll never be able to root... ever, or I just have to wait for a root to come out for the version?
Was not rooted before this.
Currently there is no way to root. There's no way to know if anyone will find a way to do it or to downgrade in order to. I'm sure some are working on it, but you just have to wait to see what happens.

HDX 7" 4.5.3 Help

As the title says I've got a HDX 7" which is rooted at the moment. And I was looking at the HDX Nexus Rom but I'm not sure how to install it. Normally I'm ok with hacks and jailbreaking etc. But this sounds a little harder than that so any help would be greatly appreciated
Is it possible to root 4.5.3? Or are you on 4.5.2?
Safestrap v4 requires 4.5.2, hence I ask. Read the requirements carefully!
After Safestrap installation make a backup of your stock slot, move it to your PC, then install Nexus in the stock slot, as WLAN doesn't work in secondary slots atm.
Note that you Need 4.5.2 for this!

It's on 4.5.3. Just checked it. So I should downgrade it to 4.5.2?

I'm not sure about this atm, how did you root 4.5.3? Did Kingroot work with 4.5.3?
Note that downgrading 4.5.3 is dangerous, i.e. if not followed 100% precisely chances are high you'd brick your HDX.
