I tried TowelRoot method, but when I launch the TR app, the app just hangs, nothing happens. I waited for some time (about 10 mins), rebooted my phone, but no root.

I did it using philz recovery. Pretty straight forward.
And yes it tripped knox counter but why care?
Just flash stock and reset counter by cf counter app (never going to need it?)

cf counter app - which app are you referring to? Could you give exact name? (is it triangle away?)
KNOX counter got tripped on my phone when I tried this root method.

Yes it is triangle away. And if you are careful, you shouldn't worry about KNOX counter. And it is a matter of time before your warranty ends anyway.

To backup apps, u need root. Try go backup to backup contacts, messages and stuff!

CWM (clockworkmod) is a recovery. Used to flash zips and ROMS. The procedure to get it is device specific. Check it in ur forum. It needs root.
Ps - I believe u r using moto Xoom. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979 read through the instructions carefully before attempting anything. I ain't responsible if u mess up.!

My Backup
I believe there is a version of MyBackup that does not require root. It's a 30 day free trial. However, it may not be able to backup all of your apps and or data.
Where do I get that version? The 1 I got from Google Play DOES:!

its easy to install clockwork mod, then make a nandroid. (system image) also superbackup is a good app.
i backed up sms, contacts apps and call logs, also after rooting get titanium backup

I think its only media sounds from Note 3,,,he is referring to help app if u have flashed note 3 mod posted in themes section....

I downloaded the zip file thinking the sounds would be in mp3 format. Any chance you have this in mp3 format instead of .ogg? I want to put them on my stock, unrooted Note 2.

I said i got it too! And i updated as well. I have locked bootloader and stock recovery so it worked for me. You need stock recovery and locked bootloader for it to install and since you have custom recovery, it won't install

Updated with no problems. I had dual recovery cwm installed. Update still worked but recovery is gone now. Root still available.
before it was a computer required update. but this morning, it changed to ready to install.
I updated via OTA, and root and dual recovery both survived... go figure...

Weird... I am in Italy also with .108 stock (rooted, locked bl, and dual recovery) but I got no update notification...
I got this OTA update last night (in India). Root survived, but Xposed had to be reinstalled.
I have not discerned any changes or improvements otherwise.
Also, had to lock the bootloader - was getting a "could not verify" message for the OTA.

Same with me, xposed had to be reinstalled, but no worries there, 5 minutes and I was ready with all my modules as before.

Got update notification today (T-Mobile, Germany), 0.2mb, could not verify message, give it a try later today after locking bootloader.
Could this be a carrier-specific update?
I got it too. Maybe that this update is only for patching those Android specific security bugs and some Update Center issue where no application update appearing in prev 108.

I think I corrupted the file somehow damn it can't open or extract throws error so is corrupted. (Here the suspected corrupted file just in case http://www.mediafire.com/download/55wnni4rt9f1ddl/update.zip ) Will try later. Mood:Angry/disappointed
But anyways anyone can update now since is rolling for real this time. Tried to check for update again and it pop up immediately. So meanwhile check for update til I try again.

If you don't care about tripping the knox counter, odin TWRP, and flash SuperSU 2.02. You'll have root.

If you want better battery life then flash Sac's S5 MOAR rom. It's the best way to go.
