I realize that people have different requirements for a car mount, so this one might not really be THE best, but I think it's the best I've found for me, and maybe others. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued it, and the replacement is over-engineered and simply not as good. So if you're interested, act fast. Amazon is out of them. I got mine from B&H Photo Video. You may find them elsewhere if you Google for it.

What makes this so good? Three things, basically.
Most important, it holds the phone very security, yet you can both insert and remove the phone from the mount one-handed. Having to use two-hands to insert / remove a phone from a mount always annoys me.
Second, the mount is very, very secure. It simply sticks to what you attach it to. My prior mount had a simple suction cup that wouldn't even stay mounted to clean, smooth glass for more than a week or so. The iOttie mounts use micro-suction gel sticky pad combined with a suction cup. Even without the suction it sticks remarkably well to my very textured dash. With the suction lever in use, it grips like super glue.
Third, even with a relatively heavy G3, and my stiffly suspended car, the phone moves around very little on rough pavement. My last mount vibrated so much I couldn't read it unless I positioned it so it was braced against the instrument pod.
Don't mistake the Easy One-Touch 2 for this mount. The newer version is more complex, and not nearly as solid. The phone vibrates and bounces a lot more. Also don't confuse the Easy Flex mount. While it has one-handed insertion of the phone, you'll need two hands for phone removal. Why iOttie replaced such a great design with inferior ones is a question that boggles the mind.
Also make sure you get the XL version. The standard version doesn't open quite wide enough for the G3, in spite of what the specs say. Mine is on the way back to Amazon for just that reason.
My friend you haven't tried Scosche have you? Once you do all mounts will seem worthless. Basically it's a magnetic mount of amazing quality and very cheap price they sell a lot of car accessories but their mounts are top of the line. Check out a video on their website. Amazing product.

It's nice, but I don't like using cases, and I doubt that metal plate will fit inside the back of our G3s. I also don't want to glue the mount to my dash. I want to be able to move it between vehicles, or even to different locations in the same vehicle.
Like I said, different people are going to have different priorities. The Scosche mount doesn't meet my needs.
Personally I love the Easy Flex Wireless after I got my Qi sticker. It goes in with one hand, I can pull it out with one hand, and I can open the little fingers with one hand afterwards. It would be nice for it to come out as nice as the other dock but I can't complain. [emoji1]

I can't figure out why iOttie didn't give the Qi version same easy-out feature of the one-touch mounts. It would be the perfect mount if they had.

Would I be able to use a case like an otterbox or zerolemon with this mount?
I think it would be fine with the Otterbox. From the photos I've seen of the Zerolemon, the tabs that clamp the phone might not be long enough. But if you'll measure the maximum thickness of the phone with the battery and case installed, I'll see if the tabs are long enough.

Meh. I had an iBolt for my Galaxy S3 and it was garbage. The suction cup would fall off the windshield every couple of weeks (and wouldn't stick at all to the dash). I tried to use the flat plastic plate they supply: Cleaned the dash thoroughly, stuck the adhesive plate on, let it set for a week, then stuck the suction cup to it and put my phone in. The plate fell off the dash 5 minutes later. When stuck to the windshield, the mount flexed and bounced so much the phone kept switching between landscape and portrait, and I couldn't read what it displayed. I had to position it so the phone was braced against the windshield pillar to use it at all. The audio-out feature stopped working after I upgraded to KitKat, and iBolt's tech support was clueless. I'll never touch another iBolt.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I checked, and the tabs that hold the phone aren't long enough to wrap around that case. It might grip the sides of the phone well enough to work, but I have no way to test that.
The metal plate fits just fine in the G3.
So much so, that I have the nfc/qi sticker and the metal plate inside the battery cover. I then have the magnet attached to the dash of my Saab and behind the dash I have a qi charger to wireless charge my phone as soon as I place it on the magnet.
That, to me, is the BEST car mount.

So you're saying you're getting wireless charging THROUGH the magnet / mount that's attached to the dash? That sounds like a miracle, since most !i chargers can only bridge a gap between coils of about 8 - 10mm, and that mount alone looks a lot thicker than that, and has a metal magnet in between the coils.

Let me clarify.
The base magnet sits in the middle of the charging coil, so that the face of the magnet is flush with the coils. This is behind my dash and easily transmits through the 1/4" plastic.
This will be much easier to accomplish once v1.2 coils and receivers start showing up.

I knew when I first got my Dell Streak that a 5-inch screen was what I needed, and at the time, despite the hardware limitations and lack of Dell support, I knew I'd be with the Streak for a while because going back to a small screen wasn't happening. So, I invested in enough car mounts and chargers to have one in each commonly used vehicle (4 total). Now that I'm on the Note with it in a Speck case 3 out of 4 mounts still work with minor modifications. As soon as a heavier-duty case comes along 0 out of 4 mounts will work. Now that the Note is so much more popular than the Streak ever was, I am not too worried that there won't be another 5-inch plus phone ever again. So that I don't have to spend however many 100s of dollars on mounts when the next big phone hits, I have been looking for a heavy-duty, relatively vibration resistant, but still universal mount. That way, whatever the next device is, I don't have to go and buy a ton of new mounts.
In my seemingly unending quest for a car mount that will work with the Note, regardless of what case I have on it, and handle vibration and spirited driving, I spent a bunch of time on the RAM site (since I already have some of their products, and like the marine grade powder coated aluminum). I found a couple of possible solutions, but because I want to have the phone in landscape orientation, I think the X-Grip would be best for me. I was about to put up a post asking if anyone had used one on here, when I found this thread over in the International Note forum:

The pictures there show a Note with no case in the regular X-Grip.The problem I forsee is the specified max width of 3.25 inches. The Note naked is wider than that, but only just. Mine, in a Speck case measures about 3.5 inches, and any future case I put on it will likely be bigger. I asked the OP over there for more information, so I could hopefully better determine if the original X-Grip will work with the phone in a case. We'll see how that goes. I've been stalking the accessories forum here with hopes of seeing something that would work for me and not succeeded. I have also noticed a lot of praise for the cheapy mounts. Let me preface this with "that isn't for me". I need to keep the phone in the case for protection from dirt and elements, and I need to make sure the phone won't fall. If it does, during extreme maneuvers, it is gone. And, if I am even capable of recovering off of the dirt, mud, rocks, or asphalt it might have landed on, it would likely be smashed, either from the impact itself, or from someone else running it over, despite any case. So, I'm perfectly happy with spending a bit more for something that meets my needs and keeps the phone where I want it to be.
That said, has anyone looked at either X-Grip as a possible solution for car mounting? If you have, and decided on something else, why? And, of course, what did you end up with (bearing in mind my heavy-duty and case acceptance needs). Thanks in advance.
No first hand experience with the X-Grip simply because I didn't know it existed when I was looking for a motorcycle mount.
I will "note" that the X-Grip II looks to big but I really don't know.
I'm not sure what you mean by vibration but my motorcycle puts these things through some serious high speed buzzing...and they handle it.
But, this is what I use...not the prettiest but it does work with my Note and the small arm attachments. Used this one for 2 Samsung phones and 1 iPhone.

Thanks for the input. I had noticed both of those, but my concern was that I want the phone in landscape mode, not portrait. Both of those look like they use fixed mounts at the 6 and 12 o'clock positions and spring-loaded fingers at the 3 and 9. If I rotate the mount 90 degrees, so the phone is in landscape mode, that means the spring-loaded arms are supporting most of the weight of the device. But, yeah, when I look for mounts, I try to find motorcycle guys who endorse them (especially dirt bike and off-road expedition bike), because that's closer to my usage than a normal automobile owner would be. I've not gone wrong with motorcyle-rider-endorsed ones yet. Do you run portrait or landscape orientation? What kind of motorcycle?
I too wonder if the X-Grip II might not be too big. But seeing as how they don't have any on-hand, I can't ask them to take a tape measure to one. I am hoping to call them tomorrow and see what I can see. Busy day for me though, not sure I'll get the time. When I do, I'll post back with whatever I learn.
I bought a standard GPS windshield/dash mount from best buy. I have the speck case and it easy fits it. Looks like there would be plenty of room for a bigger case. I use it in portrait but I could easily turn it in to landscape if I wanted to.

Well I think I found the ideal mounting location with Ram. Since their mounts are sold as a 2+ piece system (1 for phone, 1 for mounting option), this can be flexable in the future plus I can buy a second base peice for the wifes car since they are so easily released. They have a really cool rear view mirror mount. The way it works is you remove your rear view mirror, put their mount on the windshield bracket, then the mirror on the mounts bracket to sandwhich the mount between the windshield and the mirror. I just have to find the right mount to use on my Note, so I'm hoping this thread moves forward and provides some ideas. My previous statement about mounting my nook would be out the window, I believe this would just be too much weight as the nook can be hefty, but that's by no means a deal breaker. Photos attached.
After wrestling with an automated phone system, I got someone on the phone.
My Note in a Speck Case measures in at about 3.5 inches wide and about 6 inches tall. The guy on the phone measured the X-Grip at full extension and he said I "might" be able to "squeeze" the Note in there, but it would be tight if it even worked. And, once I go to a larger case, I'd be beat.
He also measured the X-Grip II and said that it should work, but it would likely hold the phone near the corners. He said the weight rating of the X-Grip II was 5lbs. And, while RAM themselves are out of stock, he gave me a company in Las Vegas (since I'm on the west coast) that had them in stock. GPSCity is the name of the company, and I went ahead and ordered the X-Grip II and some other parts. Once it comes in I'll see how it works and snap some pictures.

I've rethought this plan, seems too high for easy use once I sat in my truck and imagined it up there. if was only being used as GPS it would be great up here, but I think I may have to go with something else. I was pretty excited about this possibility.

Good point. I know in many Jeeps putting it there will likely block too much of the windshield. Here's my current plan:
Use the X-Grip II

I may end up just getting the complete proclip setup or the OEM dock. I love the mount position of the proclip, but need to figure out how to fuse the OEM dock to it to take advantage of the audio pass through since I use slacker every morning and evening on my commute.

I like both of them, but I need a case on the phone. Plus, like I said, I'd like to not have to buy a bunch of new docks for every new phone going forward. And taking the case off and putting it back on every time I get in or out of the vehicle just isn't happening.

Yes there is the issue of the case fitting too. It makes it so difficult to get the perfect set up, you can only hope to get the right combo and get an functional setup.
Not saying I would recommend it but I do use it in horizontal mode. I have an aqua-box medium-wide on order which will probably replace this but certainly not inside my car.

That GPS City place is fast. Mount came in today. Still waiting on the ProClip, so I went ahead and "mounted" it on one of my workbenches in the garage for a couple of pictures.
Works fine with the Boxwave case... even though it just barely grabs the corners, I shook the hell out of it (inside, over the couch) and the phone didn't fall out. However, I'm not convinced it will be ok off-road. Doesn't work at all with a Speck case.
However, it does look like it might be easy enough for me to modify. Don't have the time to mess with it today though, too many other things going wrong. Nonetheless, a few pictures
So you're sick of not being able to find a "gripper" mount for your car that can hold your giant-ass Note 3? Be prepared to settle for a sausage-down-a-hallway tablet mount or one of a handful of BBW car mounts made for your fat bottomed phablet.

InfiniApps makes a universal and brand-agnostic magnetic holder with the oft-questioned CD-slot mount. They're fairly cheap, very reliable, and have been through five incarnations of redesigns. The latest of which holds well in all sizes of disk slots, doesn't break at the neck, and most importantly to us, has FOUR strong magnets in the mount face to hold even our heavy Betty, chubby tubby, plus sizer, wide load, is this joke dead yet, Note 3.
Because the S-Pen appears to use at least a partially magnetic sensor for the hover function, it will be inaccurate (though within 5mm) with the S-Pen whilst mounted to any magnetic mount. Finger touches are entirely unaffected of course, as is the S-Pen when not currently on the mount itself.
The mount comes with two steel plates, one with adhesive, one without. Both plates have one side coated with a thin plastic scratch prevention film. I use the adhesived plate on the inside of the back cover, though you could just as easily do the same on the outside or use the adhesive-free plate and just let it sit inside. It doesn't pull the back cover off or cause any cosmetic distortion of the device.
Amazon is always a good way to go for reliability and shipping speed.

Both sellers are selling the same Generation 2, Version 2, reinforced-neck, stronger-magnetic-head item. The choice, if you want the thing, is up to you whether you go for 2-day free shipping and a higher cost or the longer wait and cheaper price tag.
I've used this exact mount for a month now (and two of the previous incarnations for over a year) without a hitch. I picked up the prior Generation 2 mount with the weaker neck from Amazon, it broke in a week, and they replaced it with nary a fudge with the new version. I've shopped with Meritline.com for half a decade and their customer service is genuinely on par with Amazon. Break something or have another issue, snap a photo of the damaged goods, and they've never failed to replace or refund the purchase.

I use BT almost exclusively for audio in the car and it's never been an issue at all. There are little-to-no magnetizable parts in your phone so it shouldn't care at all. I just did some oh-so-scientific testing, and the metal plate hasn't become magnetized enough after MANY hours of use, (including a two way cross country trip last month) to affect a small paperclip sliding around on the back at all. I get the exact same signal strength for 4G and 3G on my MotoX, which I also use with the mount. I don't have cell service on my N9000 but WiFi appears unaffected. Yes, I just tested both.
Considering how many OEM phone cases use a magnet to signal the phone it's attached (iDevices and the OG Droid come to mind), I think it's fairly safe to say there's no real impact on the device's radios. The magnets aren't outrageously powerful. A really hard bump would probably knock the Note 3 off, but it provides hardly any resistance to intentionally pulling it free.
I don't think it's the magnetism that causes the problems. It's the metal plate that would block some wireless comms. But if you haven't seen any degradation that's good.

I don't. I expect there are better solutions for Qi aficionados, however. I wouldn't risk inducing a current in the metal plate up against the battery like that, but I also don't know if that would matter.
I've had this mount for almost as long as I've had the phone with no issues. The metal plate that allows it to stick on the magnetic pad is the same height/width as the battery, so in theory the only impact will be to your NFC, however I haven't had any issues the few times I have used NFC.

Depending on the case you use, the rubber may not have much "grip" (mostly with soft-touch cases, however my Spigen UltraFit works out. It isn't that the magnet isn't strong enough, it's just that bumps and vibrations will *slowly* cause the phone to rotate on the pad... this can be avoided by centering the weight, though.
I have the iMagnet which is very similar. Have used NFC, WIFI, and Bluetooth with no issues. No negative impact on the phone at all.

I would've loved to gotten this mount or the mountek ngroove snap.. if it weren't for the darn s-view case! (don't like the idea of pressing against the sview screen while folded backwards.. also a magnet too strong seems to trigger the s-view screen)

I have the same. I've had no issues with my Note 2 or 3 with nfc, wifi, bluetooth, signal, gps etc...
i use it everyday, no problems whatsoever. great product highly recommended

Just quoting the bold part and comparing that to the ipad that is being used with the stand. from the picture, the ipad looks like it can stand pretty well considering it's two times larger and heavier than the note 3. I don't see why the note 3 won't be able to withstand the product.

There's picutres in your post with the iPad in portrait mode i think the stand will work just fine the note is a light phone compared to it's size.
It's certainly cheaper than the FlyGrips I usually use. I love that the FlyGrip also doubles as a way to securely hold the device, though and have been saved from dropping my Note due to it many times. It looks about as thin as the FlyGrip - if you get one let us know how durable it is, because even on the integrated kickstands I've used, the thin ones usually end up breaking after awhile.
I just placed an order and the seller (Remote Systems) shipped the item on the same day, according to the USPS tracking number they provided.
EDIT: I finally got it. It's much thicker than I thought. So much so that the works charging no longer work and my iOttie car holder won't automatically clamp the phone.
So now it is a choice of whether you need a kick stand or a wireless charger.

I would be the first to buy something like this but suddenly I've got too many accessories for the phone, and the price+shipping is too high for the product.
So I'm just waiting on some reviews on this.
My plan:
Phone + Glass screen protector (applied) + Kickstand + Plastic bumper.
Why:
I want the phone small as possible. Its more comfy in pocket, on hand, less drops, etc etc.
Plus I love the feeling of that leather*
Its just the ****ty stitching and the crappy lined plastic sides that degrade the phone's sense of luxury.
Quick questions:
How thick is it really?
Is the kickstand as thick as those cases with a kickstand?
Can the kickstand work on the far sides of the back, or does it have to be centered?
And lastly would it be a good idea to put the kickstand over the camera to protect it from scratching?
(obviously a cutout hole on the kickstand for the cam to peep through)

Hi Kangal,
I the kickstand4u add about 0.4 cm to the thickness of the phone, IF you are using the regular back cover. I don't have another camera, so I don't have a picture to show it. If you use a wireless cover, it will add even more, so much so that my iOttie car dock no longer fit.
Additionally, the wireless charging no longer work since I believe the distance is now too far between the back cover and the charging coil. This is at least with my Tylt wireless charger.
I put mine slightly below the center, so closer to the bottom of the phone. This is because the S-Pen is actually sticking out a little bit, causing uneven plane when the phone is at an angle.
All in all, I prefer the kickstand since it allows me to put the phone an angle WITHOUT a). a bulky case and b). a docking station. I can live without the wireless charging, so now I just use the normal back cover. Oh, with the normal back cover and the kickstand4u, the phone still fit with my iOttie car holder.

I'm giving up on my dream of a device with a bumper and a kickstand.
Its simply because the kickstand on its own won't ever be as sturdy as one on a case can be.
Also because the bumpers that I own (five different types) they're either not a good fit, not protective enough (non-shock-absorbing, or exposed corner wtf), or are very thick.
Basically for me, the simple solution is better.
Use a case that's not too bulky and has a kickstand that's decent enough.
I've found these two but have NOT bought OR TRIED them. Anyone tried these cases? What are your thoughts? Any good? Overpriced?

I need a stand that can do portrait and without adding any bulky case, so the kickstand meet my need. .... For now. [emoji1]

I keeping messing with this idea aswell, I was considering this, The Air Dock.
Another part of me wants to DIY it, like this.
I use this magnetic mount in my car now with the S3 and it works great, but it doesn't charge it obviously.
I was looking at the magnetic ones in the past, just don't know how good it would hold on some of the really bumpy rural roads we have in NM.
Not to mention, does the G3 even have the metal plate or tabs inside to mount this way? I haven't seen anyone mention them.
I'm tempted to just buy 4 or 5 on Amazon and see what works the best. I REALLY like the vent mount (I can't believe I just said that) that came with my current mount.

The mount I use now came with two thin metal plates that you can either stick to the outside or inside under the battery cover. I placed the metal plate inside.
Bumpy Roads: Depending on the phone your mileage may vary. iPhone? perfect no problems...sticks fine even on a bumpy road. Something bigger, like the Note 2 and our G3, not so much. What I ended up doing was spraying the magnetic base with Plasti-Dip, the grip provided by the rubber coating made it so even over really bumpy roads my phone doesn't move. Yeah its a bit of a hack, but it looks good and works great.
With respect to the Air Dock and the DIY thing...I have no idea, they look strong. Ill have to Google a bit and see what others are saying.

That thing looks pretty cool. But thats 50 bucks just for the cradle, it doesn't actually include the charger.

Works really well even on bumpy roads and only requires a small metal disk (about the size of a dime) to be attached. On my GS3 I had a case with the disk attached that I'd use when I need navigation. Otherwise, I'd use a different case without the disk.
It would be great to be able to hack something like that for wireless charging, but I'm wondering how well it would work to have a strong magnet near your magnetic induction coils? It could affect it, but since induction works on a changing magnetic field, it may not impact the charging. It would be an interesting experiment though.
Will these charge the phone fast enough when using nav & streaming music?

Hey, I remember seeing that when I got my Nexus 5. Awesome looking holder, probably perfect, but really spendy considering you have to pay another 40 or so dollars for the charger.

Do it , as soon as there is a reliable place to get the qi back plates from....I think I'm gonna give that a shot. I really love the convenience of the magnetic mount.
Waaaay back I had a Palm Pre that used something called a Touchstone to wireless charge and a magnet to hold it. I set this up in my car and absolutely loved it. I'm craving that setup again.

I'm not sure but this is a concern of mine as well.
The one currently in my car charges enough to charge the phone while brightness is all the way up and navigating with Waze or using Ingress.
With Streaming? Probably not. I don't stream though, I see it as a huge waste of my data. I have a podcast program called BeyondPod that downloads tons of music and other podcasts to listen to so I can use my bandwidth for other things.
Is there an official G3 car dock at all? What I did on the G2 was I took apart a wireless charger (the circle LG one) and modded it into the official car mount. It was perfect.

I got a cheap Qi charger and did some quick tinkering with it. It looks like sticking a Tetrax magnetic mount in the center of the coils will work with the wireless charging! I'll have to do a bit of work to rig it all up more permanently though.
I have a Bracketron vent mount kit that I bought at Best Buy eons ago that I'd love to retrofit with a Qi charging pad. Certainly seems to be a cheaper option than the Choetech.
RED ZMAN's experiences aside, is the Choetech still the best of the bunch? I'm not prepared to drop $50 right now, but maybe Santa Claus might leave one for me under the tree...

I modified my lg g2 car dock and added Qi wireless charging. I had to heat up and stretch the top arm so that the phone would fit, and cut off the left and right corners. The charger is from the official LG charge pad, the little round one.
Exactly how I had it set up for my G2. Its not pretty, but it works great.

That does look nice. Standard T-tab mount in the back? If so I might be able to use the charger pad with my existing Bracketron vent mount kit...
Hey guys, just passed my driving test (whooo) and getting my first car.
I'm looking for a good, windshield mounted holder so I can put my n6 in there portrait. I'm also looking for a charging solution and i'll be looking to transmit audio from the phone via fm to tune the car sound system into it.
I want quality, but budget.
Could anyone recommend me items to do this please ?

My cheap solution is No windshield mount. Always expensive, because the cheap can't hold the N6. I have a neodymium magnet on the dashboard; fixed with double sided glue tape.
For the N6 I have a cheap silicon case; easy to remove/change. On the back there is a metal plate fixed with super glue.
The metal plate must be 1cm below the M-logo, because the magnet sensor is there.
Because the back of the N6 is not flat you need to prepare the plate.

Sygic is my nav app and works fine. Works also with N6 in my pocket (shirt) with only 'voice instructions'

Going to be using Google maps and spotify so need to see the screen really and because I'm a new driver, don't want to be looking too far away.
How expensive are screen mounts that hold the n6?

Check eBay here (NL) about 25 euro. Looking your picture, I think you can use a cheap windshield mount at the right side. The N6 in landscape and as low as possible. Because the N6 is rather heavy it should touch the dashboard.
OK I've ordered some things.... I'll link to them once I know they're good in a few weeks.

Hey your driver's seat is on the wrong side.
It's not cheap, but check out pioneer's Android Auto head units. I have the 4100NEX and I'm really digging it so far. Best thing is it all works off an app on your phone and Google will keep improving.

I may check out a new head unit in the future but it's not on the cards for a while yet.. Having never ran a car,.money is going to be tight. Especially with UK fuel prices and 28 mpg

I'm gonna use Tom Tom Go with DailyRoads Voyager dash cam, from a screen mount. Think a tablet would be pushing it for me
i dont know if you care about sound quality or not for music or whatever. fm transmitters are notoriously bad in the sound quality department.
depending on the make of the headunit (stock or aftermarket) many times you can get a cheap cable to interface with a cd changer input which sounds great.
ive also hooked a bluetooth audio adapter (super cheap on ebay) to said aux input cable which also sounded good.

Both paths are just wrong....
The suction cups are just not reliable, especially in a car environment. I find it much easier to live with some some good velcro (fabric store) stuck on the back of the device or bumper case (picture frame shape) mated to a similar outline in a flat spot on the car. (Mine is 'around' the OE radio display - don't need to see it with phone in car, and can see through the frame when using car radio.)
FM transmitters also are not acceptable inside a car environment - you'll hear the engine and the cell phone 'connects' every little bit - notice the OE antenna is outside?. Use the aux input or add one to older OE radio - it's not hard at all (use switching 1/8 jack to interupt and reconnect low level from Radio/Tape/CD to amp internally).
You will also need an isolation transformer for the input when you want to charge the phone while listening.
After farting around with cars for decades, these are the best solutions regardless of price, and just happen the to be the cheapest anyway.

I'm aware of the pitfalls of fm transmitting. Using an auxiliary input on the current head unit is not an option and even if it were,.it wouldn't do everything the transmitter does. I'll get a new unit perhaps when I can afford it, but for now,.fm is the best option for me.
As for suction cups, I completely disagree. Suction cups are used in the glass industry for installing large panels of glass. If you buy one rated well enough to do the job, it will easily do the job. The one I have bought is designed specifically for the nexus 6 and all the reviews say it's not going anywhere, so im happy with my choice.
Also, i.live in the UK where we must use our.vents

How you doing? Always a pleasure to see you around. I was confused at first, but then figured it out.
I know you already bought some stuff, but, in case they don't work out or if you just want another alternative, this is a stand that I got on a trip last weekend. It's really low tech, and not too pretty, but, if you don't mind function over form or whatever, it's pretty darn good. And, as you can see, it works in the house too.
I've tried a bunch of different mounts over the years and had various problems. The suction cup windshield ones fell off, the vent mounts vibrated too much, and the supposedly hyper-sticky suction cup kind for the dash weren't quite sticky enough. This thing worked out great on the other hand. The brand is Bracketron.
Congrats on the license and the car, man. I won't ask what took you so long. Although I guess you could be 17, but I highly doubt it. If you want to hear something scary, I've had my driver's license for 38 years.

That looks like a good option. I'm guessing it does landscape too? I thought I wanted portrait, but I'm going to run a dash cam app too, so landscape will probably be better.
You're right, I'm not 17, I'm 35. I've been car mad all my life. Some of my first words were naming cars parked on the street. I started lessons at 17 but left home and all my money went on surviving. I took my test when I was 21 but failed. I guess I was afraid of further failure. I moved to the city where driving wasn't really important. But now it is again and I'm fired up for it.
Funnily enough, the missus said I could get a new mountain bike if I passed and it kind of fired me up. Though I'm not getting one. My Dad has given me his v6 coupe that he can't afford to run. I can't either but I'm going to have a good go
