[B2G] FireFox OS - Nightlies [Oct 3rd, 2014] - Nexus 5 Android Development

Hi guys,
I compiled b2g for the nexus 5 to try it out. If anyone else is interested, you can download my build. I attached the build logs as well.
In my opinion, it is nowhere near ready to be used as the primary operating system on the nexus 5 but if anyone wants to play around with it, be my guest.

- I've had the whole thing crash while scrolling through the app drawer
- The browser recent visited site tiles flicker
- Can't seem to find a way to "select text" in input boxes
- Camera doesn't work

Nah Sailfish is much better
@newdevo This thread could benefit from some reformatting and more info (changelog/bugs/screenshots/something!) and it could even make some people believe that you didn't do this when all you're posting is links

Not really not much apps can be installed this much better.

It's interesting to check the progress, see how other operating systems are doing but yes, it's not ready yet. Still fun to try it out though.

I'll surely merge 3D I was just messing with wifi atm since data seems to be fixed with ril but a previous post in my thread mentioned the browser was FC after around 50% page loaded...
I have no data plan can it be tested out ?
By all means merge it. Long as I get credit wifi hackin is above me though. And ill throw my data sim in tomorow and test

This has to be the best HC port around for pure speed. After a reboot animations like the lock screen, app switcher and moving between homescreens are extremely smooth. It's almost surprising just how responsive some tasks are. HW acceleration really makes the difference. Great work again

This is amazing but of course there's some usability errors. The notification quick settings list doesn't esem to work for me or managing widgets.

Yep I had the same problems. The quick settings are actually there, you simply can't see them (Try swiping left and right in the middle of the empty space, you'll change the display settings). To move along the different types of widgets you need to swipe in the direction you wish then go back to the homescreen then back to the widgets and it should have moved. A little long winded but it works.

Confirming that there is no data, I tried adding an APN and everything, no go.
Just curious, how that there is a dumb of the XOOM, why not try building off that and combining with the drivers form the new OTA?

[ROM] UberCM 2.0 / minimal / fast / CM12.1 base / LP 5.1.1

This thread is for my daily driver builds of @RobbieL811's Uber CM12.1 currently with @bbedward's Zen kernel. Sometimes I build @flar2's ElementalX kernel instead. Flash whatever makes you happy.
My understanding is UberCM is a lot like vanilla CM but with a few essential things added. Haven't run plain CM in so long so I don't know the differences anymore. Anyways it'd be selfish to hoard the Uber goodness so I came here to share. BUT I don't embellish UberCM or cherry-pick unless necessary and I'm not a developer so don't request features. I test all builds before posting.
Don't bug RobbieL811 if you encounter problems with this rom. He doesn't support Nexus 6 builds at all, nope nada uh uh..
FEATURES
all CM12.1 features incl CMTE for all the theming you crave. NO LAYERS.
call recording (mic only thx to shamu's crappy drivers) is not perfect but good enough
a few extra quick tiles. My fave: reboot tile w/recovery option.
works with Xposed. I love Xposed all day & all of the night, maybe you do too.
some other stuff
GOTCHAS
Call recording only works with AAC, seems that AMR is broken but it sucks anyway so just use AAC
LOCKSCREEN OPTION: if you enable secure lockscreen it'll also apply at bootup even if you choose otherwise. If you choose a lockscreen pattern ONLY use 3x3
VoLTE, wifi calling. They might work but don't expect it and I can't test 'em so don't care.
INSTALLATION
Get on a recent bootloader & modem. For example LMY47Z.
Download & install UberCM 2.0
install Slim GApps or Delta GApps
install SuperSU if you want root
OLDER RELEASES: UberCM 1.8
UberCM 1.7
Hopefully you will enjoy UberCM. If not maybe try another rom like Spring (awesome & innovative but might not work w/Xposed) or BlissPop (every feature in the world) or Euphoria (a possible cure for crackflashing).
Stuff I like:
Kernel Adiutor | Euphoria Dark theme | strong coffee
Credits/sources:
CyanogenMod
UberCM
Zen Kernel
ElementalX kernel

Screenshots come when I get the time.

goo.im crapped itself and my account there has been iffy since maybe 2013. Mega is uber reliable and wfm. Got a suggestion for other mirror sites?
That sucks, man. I saw another dev using his SkyDrive account, so I don't know if that's an option. Frankly, I haven't used a dev mirror site since I worked on the Droid 2. Lol I But the build looks really interesting. The cm builds aren't working for me and are breaking encryption some how, so I'll give yours a try.

breaking encryption meaning you're not encrypted anymore? or /sdcard is inaccessible?
btw mine is working fine fully encrypted using the build in OP. AFAIK the kernel is encryption agnostic so even if you're not encrypted all should be well.
Not encrypted. It's the damndest thing and no one seems to know why, but I think it's related to the kernel flashed with some of the roms. Benzo, chroma, dirty unicorns, all good... Terminus, 2 of the other cm builds up... Breaks it. If I restore my stock nandroid, it fixes the issue, so I can only assume it's that specific kernel doing something wonky.
The encryption matters for me, because I'm using exchange with an administrator. Need it for work and that's how I've found encrypt broke... The administration setting goes haywire on me when I flash some roms.

My money would be on Exchange being a piece of crap. Try stock rom, good luck.
Also related to Exchange: I have a generic rom unf*cker that deletes junkware (AKA stuff I don't like or use) incl exchange, most live wallpapers, other stuff, and adds a few good utils like Kernel Adiutor, Autostarts & f-droid. Could post it with the next UberCM build if somebody wants to try.

First time trying this ROM, very nice change over STK cm, essential adds but not too much. Thanks for sharing!!
Stability issues with 1.8, made some changes and we're building again.
Meanwhile I posted an updated 1.7 that's been giving killer battery life for me.
Was thinking where did 1.8 go. No worries appreciate testing before posting!!

OP updated with UberCM 1.8, ElementalX is the kernel. Works for me. Hope you like it.
Got 2.0 posted up and it's delightfully speedy. Only gotcha is it'll apply secure lockscreen settings to bootup so don't use 4x4 or larger lockscreen pattern.

A quick question, is the virtualization used a Xen virtualization?
You really got my interest here, this looks really awesome. I just like to know, if there are some extra settings for customization included, or if this is pure stock.
Another thing is, that I like to use xposed with xprivacy - I doubt that xposed is working here, or?
On my one sim 16 gig Nexus. Waste of time. My lenovo zuk 1, two sim, 64gig,yup handy

HI driekus33 , we are not using Xen. We create separated spaces "virtual phones" using a combination of kernel mods (ecryptfs, pid namespaces etc) , framework mods and applications to achieve this. I will provide more technical details in this thread for those that are interested. Thanks for the question.

Hi schwarzlichtkind, I am not sure what you mean by extra settings - but we provide a way for you to divide your device into multiple spaces or "virtual phones" and also the ability to create a hidden space "virtual phone". You can push what ever apps you want into these spaces and customize based off of stock AOSP. Our ROM does not support xposed.

Hi zerosum0, Can you expand on your "Waste of time"? I think keeping a hidden space and a personal space with only a few important apps will help reduce the impact of memory. For example in your hidden space you may just have a set of Tor apps and in a personal space you might use this to try new games or apps you want to ensure do not get access to your personal data (contacts etc..). I am glad you like it on your Lenovo zuk 1. Thanks for the feedback.

I would also argue you no longer need Xprivacy. When you create a space this space is isolated from the owner space , mulit user data separation (and also encrypted using ecryptfs) , plus we have enabled pid namespaces in the kernel. Anything running in the additional space cannot access anything in the owner space (this includes contacts, sensitive data etc). You can also control the network access for this space as well using a number of exposed attributes. We have made this very easy for you to have strong and secure separation.
More Hidden Space apps have be uploaded to the Play Store...

Paranoid Android page

Hello guys. I have opened this page for rectifying the errors in paranoid android 7.3.0 in onyx
The UI in this version is great.....
I appreciate the developers for their great works in this ROM.
As far as I have used this ROM in Oneplus X, therr are some drawbacks.
1. The offscreen gestures are not working
2. The Snapdragon Audio+ is available but jot working
3. Trusted face recognition is not available
4. Features like customizing status bar isn't available
Please debug these problems as soon as possible.....
Good works on this ROM and thank you once again
I'm glad, and surprised, that a new version came out. Still kind of lame that gestures don't work. Thankfully the Kernel Auditor app will re-enable the 'O' gesture at least. Maybe next version they will fix it.
And one more thing is LTE OR 3G won't work in Sim slot 2...please correct this issue too....

theres no use making such a new thread like this. PA-onyx has no active maintainer meantime, afterall they've been busy adding new features without fixing old issues for onyx ( so lame).
Better posting/yelling/complaining/reporting whatever you want to do on their official web G+ or join telegram group, rather than add such useless thread here and in the wrong section pffh.

Derpfest ROM android 10 discussion, experiences, mods

Hi to all
The developers of derpfest ROM don't wanna share the links to Derpfest in xda.
We have to respect this! Don't post any links to ROM or telegram derpfest groups!
Here is the closed thread without links but with important infos:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/help/android-10-derpfest-rom-10-official-t4032543
So, this thread is only for advice, discussions and experiences.
Future requests
Please tell me what you want to have changed or implemented, the I would ask the developers if it could be possible.
My list
1. adding autocall record
2. Adding flip display down to mute ringer
3. Smart charge (charging only to a predefined % value)
4. Adding display saturation level
5. All closing button in recent app list
6. And last to be 100% perfect with 5 stars: a system menu with automatic timebased network disconnect... Like leandroid app
Hi guys
This TWRP (last version from 16.) is lookin and working better than all others:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/development/orangefox-recovery-10-mi9cepheus-test-t3987959
If you delete the empty folder root data per_boot the backup is running without faults.
Many additional functions like disable magisk modules for testing or after bootloop with a non working module....
There are 2 versions of derpfest 13.1. 20 online. Someone checked the differences?
Is it impossible to support the ok google hotword feature?
Sadly hotword don't work on most custom roms in Mi9.
Except few roms
For example, old Bootleggers ROM, EvolutionX 3.5 1224 build etc...
You can assign AI button to ok google or use screen gestures,
but in my case I really need a hotword so I can't move to another rom.
I saw some comments before.
There was a saying that moving from possible ROM to impossible ROM, but the attempt failed.

Hey ladies
If you want to try my personally favorite of gcam with complete settings (I'm on derpfest but I think it's working quite good in all roms with Android 10) then you can download my backup and restore it with titanium. Recommend is no gcam is installed on starting restore.

most people looking for information about some roms go to the "ROMs" section and not here, which is why so little interest. DerpFest itself is the best rom for mi9 (with weekly releases.)
IBTD, a ROM with GAPPS included can never be 'the best ROM' for any device. YMMV but I'd like to decide by myself which Google bloatware I'd like to install.
Cheers

and yesterday evening I was on 71% and today in the morning around 8 hours of sleep it was also 71%!
Never seen such a low battery consumption over night.

Yes, I think every gcam has some bugs.
Also this one:

But this one (apk install, unpack my zip xml settings to sd card that you've got a GCam Folder with subfolder Configs7 and there are the xml configs / open cam app and choose the config file by double click black area or in the settings menu)
I've found today and there are a lot of settings adjustable and quite stable. For me perfect pictures....
Try and give feedback.
I've used Derpfest for a couple of days and was very happy with it. But I couldn't get Android Auto to work with my car - dark screen on the dashboard and phone would lock up. I've dirty flashed PE and there Android Auto works fine.
I understand Android Auto may be a very rare use case, so I certainly don't want to complain. What's more interesting is that you may apparently try dirty flashing between PE and Derpfest...at least at this moment.
Can confirm. Android auto not working. Black screen and phone restarts for me.
So i am going back to PE.
