[Q] Flashing Lenovo A806 Rom? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to flash a Lenovo A806 phone with a ROM that's not from Lenovo?
I want to take the stock ROM and replace it with a pure Android 4.4.2 Rom.
Basically, change the OS to pure android and away from Lenovo.
Thanks
Troy

Please, Bump

Okay,
Follow up question.
Can I flash the A806 with a MTK6592 ROM?

Flashing a ROM
So did I put this in the wrong thread?
No body here knows about flashing ROM's?
Where should I ask this question to get an answer?
Thanks

For flashing and rooting search for A806 + root in XDA forums, there is separate thread about rooting where I also posted link to my blog where is English how to root it and flash custom recovery so you can flash any ROM. As for clean Android see below.
there is AOSP Beta 1 (ported VIVO?) Kit Kat ROM available for A806 and A808T in one package released few days ago, more info in this thread:
http://bbs.lenovo.com/a8/t476045/
here is untouched ZIP file with AOSP ROM for A808T and A806 reuploaded by me:
http://www.mirrorupload.net/file/JC2BS6QC/#!Lenovo_A808T_AND_A806_AOSP_BETA1.zip
don't use OTA automatic update after flashing this ROM!
Xposed still should not work, gestures on switched off black screen should not work, except Weather and some Mobile phone assistant (flashing tools?) ROM should be pure Kit Kat without Lenovo stuff since it's ported from VIVO phone (?)
there should be also some issue with notification bar freezing phone when opening Wifi settings, here is patch for it (although I red about different issue about reported wrong storage capacity 8GB instead of 16GB) untouched reuploaded by me
http://www.mirrorupload.net/file/NHQXFMVZ/#!zip
for issue with Wifi disconnecting in Advanced wifi settings you should set ALWAYS connected, no energy saving or anything
I haven't tested this ROM, so use it on your own risk, more info from people who used it are in thread linked in beginning of my post but I tried to summarize all information on first 17 pages of that thread. I am still waiting for someone to test it on A806 and give me feedback, I don't feel that adveturous to reinstall everything.

Thanks,
Could you answer my questions?
Thanks

I also having problem to flash A806. It's from china. Most of the apps using china character.

I manage to flash a ROM suing SP tool and rom from needrom dot com.

Alcatel One touch 5036D Stock ROM Installation.

Hello everyone,
I'm using "Alcatel One Touch POP C5 5036D". The problem is, this phone is so slow that it takes about 30+-seconds to open up any app or function. i tried some custom Roms but all have some bugs or i don't like them. i searched many times but couldn't find an easy way to install stock rom but an Official Tool that installs stock firmware from their server & it takes so long. Even couldn't find a single rom that's fast enough & works everything perfectly. As i have mentioned earlier returning to Stock ROM is such a pain.
Now i'm asking for help to all you Developers, please can you make it easier for this phone users to install stock firmware like we download the Firmware package & install it with SP Flash Tool or something like this? Please it's my heartiest request to you all if you can, make this thing simple or make some ROM that really works fine for this phone users & oblige us.

[Q] Help on flashing Gionee stock ROM on a clone phone

Hi,
my phone (NGM Forward Art) doesn't support Bluetooth Smart because of Android 4.2.2.
I found that it's a clone of Gionee P4 and that stock KitKat ROM is available for it.
So I'd like to flash Gionee P4 KitKat ROM on my phone.
I downloaded the required software. But I need to know if a (possible) different partitions scheme can cause issues during/after the update (e.g. bootloop, ...).
Unfortunately I see no CWM recovery for my phone; so I think a nandroid backup is not possible...
I'll greatly appreciate your help, thank you!
Armando
P.s. I think I'll have just to annotate IMEIs, WiFi and bluetooth MAC addresses to be able to restore them after the update.
I just updated the recovery by using the CWM recovery image available for Gionee phone.
So now I'm able to make a nandroidbackup. So I'm going to make a full backup before trying to flash the Gionee ROM...
OK, the update went fine.
Hi, i have the same problem.
I want to upgrade my Ngm Art from Android 4.2 to 4.4 (or more). Could you help me?
I didn't understand some passages.
I'd like to know if you followed a tutorial and from where you downloaded the files (if it is possible with link) because I found some tutorials but I'm not sure that they work (I found rom until Android 5.1).
Thanks.
ps: are you italian?

I did it!
I installed Android 5.1 but i have problem with GPS.
The gps does not find any satellites, you've had the same problem?
You know how I can fix it?
I'm thinking of to do a reset or change rom.
Help me.
Hi Zano_22,
to have no BT and GPS issues I'd suggest to stay with PussyCat ROM (Lollipop based) or Kitkat 4.4.4 by NFS GHOST.
Anyway a few days ago a new ROM has been made available: CyanogenMod 13 For GIONEE P4/ WALTON GH2/QMOBILE I6. It's Marshmallow based and according to the description both GPS and Bluetooth work flawlessly. The only bug is related to 2G/3G switch (and VPN that I don't bother about...).
Maybe it's worth trying it. I tested many ROMs but... If you find it working as expected I also could switch from PussyCat to CyanogenMod 13...
Ciao!
Armando
I just realized that BT doesn't work as expected on PussyCat ROM.
So I switched back to Kitkat 4.4.4 by NFS GHOST: I think it's the best ROM currently available for Gionee P4 and clones...
I hope it helps.

Blu Life One 2015

I own a Blu Life One 2015 X011Q. I am looking for either stock rom or custom. I've been searching everywhere and I end up in a forum for another similar named device. I am aware there is a whole line and some running media tek while others run qualcomm. I am running a qualcomm. I have twrp installed but can't get the phone to boot pass the Blu logo.
I have QMobile Z8 which is said to be same as Blu Life One (2015). I'm not sure about that. But if it's so, I can help you flash Q Mobile Z8 Stock Firmware.
Also Wiko Ridge 4G is same as QMobile Z8.

There are some flashable custom ROM's created by @ASAZING for Wiko Ridge 4G which is also same as QMobile Z8 and Blu Life One (2015). But I haven't been able to test these ROM's so far because no Custom Recovery works for me as I have explained in this post. Btw, which custom recovery you are using for your device?
Coming to the second option: Stock ROM, there isn't any flashable zip available. But Factory Firmware files are available online which can be flashed using QFIL detailed in this thread.

I have twrp as my custom recovery I flashed and rooted with this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/blu-life-one-xl-2015-build-ktu84p-root-t3229893
Now that I have twrp I just need a rom. I tried flashing the stock but was having problems I thought maybe it was the rom itself but did a little research and realized others were having problems too. It was solved by using mtk flash tools but since I have a qualcomm verison I did not know what to do I'm glad you direct me to a qual flasher that just might solve my problem. I'll keep you up to date.

Hello..
If you get the source code of the Blu Life One 2015
Can i help them compile Cyanogenmod 12.1
Well I tested the QZ mobile and wiko ridge theory and flashed this custom [email protected] https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-miui-v6-wiko-ridge-fab-4g-qmobile-t3165157 it worked except for my screen kept autorotating upside down with all google apps. I had this same problem with another phone I ported with a rom similar to it. I had to change some files in the recovery image itself but it was for upside down on everything. This time its only limited to gapps related apps. Any clues or should i start googling?
COOL

I tried flashing two other boot. Img but it just hangs on the logo. I did it through fastboot flash boot boot. Img. I'm at a lose I had to put the phone in rotation lock. Do you know any compatible kernels? Now that I had time to explore the rom I realized all the apps that have rotation capabilities are upside down I even went into the build. prop and add the line ro. sf. hwrotation=180.

Flashing phone soft help. Newbie questions.

Hello,
So I received this phone from my uncle to "fix" because it kept showing "Lenovo lockscreen has stopped working" nonstop. Now I want to flash a new ROM to it.
What I know about the phone:
Model -Lenovo P780
Android -4.4.2
Build-P780.V101, 2014/03/12 15:06
VIBEUI_V2.0 1437_7.14 1_ST_P780
Recovery -heweikeji CWM-Recovery v6.0.4.4 Modd by heweikeji_yueyue.
It's a CN rom already flashed custom ( I think )
I want to flash a new ROM for him because this one is really clustered ( even after factory reset tons of unnecessary apps )
My question.
What do I need to flash a new rom to this phone?
What rom should I pick? (he's a regular user ).
Do I need to update recovery?
Need the easiest way out possible.

Look here and read that tutorial about changing your firmware with one still developed.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/row-cn-how-to-check-t3333532/page2
After that go to development area in MIUI section, mirror 9. There are latest custom firmware stable versions with OTA suport.
Good luck.
