Last Step of Unlock Doesn't Seem to Be Working - Verizon LG G3

After running the last step of the just released bootloader unlock, I get this.
Cannot open for read, no such file or directory
I'm copying and pasting, so I'm not sure what's wrong.
Edit- I got it! Making a backup, now. Bring on those ROMs, boys! Woohoo!

Just a thought but for other folks who might run into this issue, you could describe what you did to fix it - i.e., did you make a typo, did you put the file in the wrong directory...

Re-installed the drivers. Don't know if that was it, but it finally went.

Don't know. Like I said, I re-installed the drivers, and just kept running the commands, and eventually it took.

For me, my mistake was it got downloaded to the downloads folder and that's not the director being accessed. I didn't move it to just sit in the sdcard directory outside of a folder. So, when I ran the second command, I'd get your error. Moving the file solves the problem.

Yes because it's the actual Recovery Image ( TWRP ) that's been Bump'd to work on our phones.
Bump isn't an app, it's a modified TWRP.

i modified some files and now my prime wont boot up. it satys on the asus loading screen. i am on locked bootloader rooted .14. how do i replace the files with adb? i made a copy of the files i made and renamed them wit .bak at the end. i tried holding power+vol down and then vol down and got an android with a red triangle. i then tried adb shell from the command prompt but it said device not found. can some one help? thanks.
no one? i guess ill just go to asus for help.

I had been fighting with the same exact problem for the past 2 days!
I just fixed it by downloading the .21 firmware from Asus and renaming the extracted file EP201_SDUPDATE.zip. Manual update method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570696&page=13 post 128.
I am now up and running and if I can get adb going again I will do the downgrade and root. I probably will not mess with the build.prop for a while. Good Luck

did this delete your camera pics and videos? i did that last time and i lost my pics. but it was probably because i had done a factory reset before i tried this thinking that would fix it. but this shouldnt touch those files because its like an update right?
I can`t say 100% because I also did a factory wipe first. But I`m pretty certain it is just a manual update and you should be ok.
thanks alot bro. it worked and my stuff is still there.
Glad it all worked out! Enjoy

I tried this method by renaming the zip from within the extracted file and put in on a microsd card then i rebooted into system recovery and got the android with the red ex, so i rebooted but it goes back to the black screen after the epad logo and never forces the update. Any suggestions?

New OTA update Droid DNA Question

I did the root update (flashed in TWRP) to:
HTC6435LVW_2.04.605.2-1.15.605.2
BUT...now Verizon is telling me I need to update OTA to:
HTC6435LVW_2.04.605.2-1.15.605.4
...Is there a .4 version rooted somewhere?
Also, the .2 version is causing my screen to flicker every 20 seconds or so for some reason.
How about this: Are there just instructions somewhere telling me how to lock the phone so I can do the stupid OTA update...and then re-root? I've seen like partial instructions but not sure the best method.
Thanks.
Thanks.

as he said this should go in Q&A Sections, but to answer your question. The flickering is becuase you did not flash the kernel to go a long with 2.04.
Also what do you mean by you flashed 2.04 in twrp? can you give me a link to what you flashed?
Woops sorry. Too bad I can't move it or I would.
From my phone: the kernel from Settings>About>Software Information>More is:

Kernel version
3.4.10-g4d47dce

SMP PREEMPT
Build number
2.04.605.2.CL147796 release-keys

What he is saying is that the file you downloaded is called a "rom" and that you are supposed to extract the boot.img from the .zip, and flash it using the procedure he told you
Does this update the radio too? I heard that was updated.

Seems to have worked! Thanks.
Can you tell me please why?
What I ended up doing:
1.) Booting to TWRP and flashing the .zip file. Then I noticed the flickering, but everything seemed to work fine.
2.) Then I posted to the forum here, and you gave me those instructions.
3.) Then I tried them and updated just the boot.img file as you said. ...And it seems to be working.

It worksbecause you flashed the update in recovery and flashedthe corresponding kernel and modules.
So are you saying that if you flash the update, that it won't "do the kernel part"? And the only way to do the kernel upgrade is to use the method described herein?
Did I do the process correctly then? Meaning, in the future, is this how it's done?
Thanks.

What you first flashed was the rom someone created out of the update. Flashing it does not flash the kernel (boot.img) and probably not the modules either. Some developers have been incorporating the kernel and modules into the rom, but in your case it didn't work. You should also flash the new radio, that was not flashed when you flashed the rom.
If you accept the OTA via the normal process it will do everything itself.
I can't accept the OTA because it will just boot into TWRP and sit there.
Did you see the radio anywhere? I didn't see it.
Also, I think it did flash the modules probably: Because my custom new photosphere-capable camera and new Android keyboard are now gone.
Thanks.

[Q] Followed tutorial, Unlocked Bootloader, Pda net, Superuser, still no root access?

Good morning guys,
Im not even sure where to start because im just getting into programming. I just tried to root my HTC rezound last night, so I followed the tutorial to the letter. Everything went very well by all accounts, except after unlocking bootloader, pda net, installed superuser, but yet when I try to verify that I have root access the phone does not recognise the root. Does anyone have any ideas why this could be? Ill be more than happy to post whatever information you might need in helping me figure this little problem out.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about a stock Rom, but I did a custom recovery and haven't touched s-on or s-off yet. I did unlock the bootloader and pda net using the walkthrough found at the htcdev.com /bootloader site. I don't know if I just need to find another walkthrough to finish the rooting process or if I'm way off here. The phone itself still works as good as ever so at least I didn't brick it. I feel like I'm close or at least on the right track.

pull your battery and re insert it.
hold vol down button and power until you get the white bootloader screen
The top should say unlocked in pink
if you have a custom recovery it will also say tampered in pink
since you are new and not sure, to continue we need to verify this
what does it say?

Glad to know, that all ok! As for .md5 file - i think it's broken when file transfer to hosting... I try to upload .zip container with .md5 file inside.
If the checksum portion of the file is getting damaged somewhere between you and the user, is it possible something else is too. Even if it is something more or less inconsequential.

There just aren't many users responding that they've tried it and it works.
Purely a numbers game for me based on previous experiences with newly rooted tablets/phones.
Plus, I'm not fully understanding the complete instructions.
Is this TWRP only?
I guess we need root before installing this, but the only rooting method I've found installs CWM...does this overwrite CMW?
To answer the first question yes this does work I flashed it onto my Tab3 without any problem. Technically you should be able to use Odin to flash TWRP recovery and then use the root.zip file from DutchDanny's CWM thread to gain root access.

I'd agree with this. I personally used the CWM process, but using TWRP first, then root #SHOULD# work.
Somehow TWRP just doesn't seem smooth like it does on my phones and other tablet. I have to click stuff slowly and sometimes if I scroll too fast through a list for example to find a file to flash it takes me back to the main screen.
Is this just me or has anyone else noticed this?

Flash either this or cwm using Odin first and then you can install the root.zip from DutchDanny's recovery/root thread and run stock rooted or his custom ROM from that thread.

Boot into recovery by powering down the tab. Press the home button + volume up + power button and hold them. It should boot into twrp recovery. Install the root.zip from sdcard.
recovery_final.tar.md5 is cwm recovery instead of twrp. I like it better and use it, but even DucthDanny said once to use twrp to someone having an issue.
Hope this helps.
