After rooting, tried to remove KNOX and its components...
It seems that afterwards, device goes into bootloop...
Had no success in identifying which knox component triggers this behavior... Only solution is to flash again...
Other apks for debloat are standard for other sammy devices.
i did the root and the supersu already removed the knox , but i need a favour do u have a link providing the baseband for sm-g850f alpha ??

my baseband version is MG7 is it different than others?? i coudnt find any post related to this version
Main problem is KNOX security is installed in my phone in system directory,
KNOX preventing me from root access(when i tried super user app i am getting a notification ""An application has been forced to stop for an unauthorized attempt to access system in your device"),
so i tried to uninstall the KNOX but I need a root privilage to uninstall it. I stuck in the loop.
after I found to bypass the KNOX I should use the certified application to get into root. (i may be wrong i am not sure) is their any way for me to root and install cynagenMod ??

Hi all, thanks in advance for any help on this. I have a few general s5 rooting questions. I'm an experienced 'rooter' having rooted and installed custom ROMs on many previous devices.
- I've ready that the s5 has an 'e-fuse' that gets 'blown' when the device is rooted. this then voids the warranty and prevents things like Fort Knox from running. I get that, and understand the risks. But, I've also read that the lollipop update will remove root. These two things seem to contradict themselves.
- on other devices I've rooted, I've then installed a custom ROM. I don't plan to do this with my s5. I haven't been able to find much written on the experience of a rooted s5 running the samsung stock ROM/firmware. I'd like to use something like xposed to change parts of the ROM (like the white background that's so pervasive in the s5 flavor of lollipop). I'm curious if anyone is running lollipop on an s5 that is rooted but running stock samsung firmware and xposed.

Rooting won't trip Knox. Installing a custom recovery will. If you have insurance on your device tripping Knox doesn't matter, your covered anyway.

very interesting, thanks! can I run xposed/titanium backup pro/other root things without a custom recovery? all I'm really interested in is modifying Samsung-dictated things (like apps that can't be frozen and colors/elements that can't be changed) + making complete backups to the SD card. If I recall from my previous experiences, a custom recovery was the way to create a nandroid backup...but I think perhaps titanium backup pro can do that from the android front-end (with root).
I assume that I should wait to root until the tmobile s5 gets lollipop? i.e. that update will kill root?

Right now there are threads that show you how to get rooted lollipop on your phone without tripping Knox which basically involves downgrading the kernel so you can root with towelroot, then using mobile Odin to flash lollipop and inject root in the process. It seems people are able to do this without issues. To this point, I do not think that anyone has found an exploit for lollipop.
The problem you will run into is that Xposed still does not run on lollipop so you cannot do much in the way of customization. Most of the G900F ROMs can run on the G900T so you might poke around in those threads to pick up more info.

System runtime is different. Art for lollipop compared to dalvik.. So it's not compatible as of now

are you sure ? I have been able to downgrade. towelroot and flash lollipop and it boots but supersu does not work properly. root apps ask permission and supersu grants permission but the apps dont actually work

I don;t know where you heard that rooting won;'t trip Knox but I beleive you are wrong about that At least I know that Flashing cf auto root - flashing recovery or flashing custom roms all trip knox. If your phone can use Towel Root - that rooting process does not trip knox - but I am not sure if Towel Root works on Lollipop or on the S5 for that matter. (I may be wrong about Towel Root - I have never used that process so I can't say for sure)
Flashing a new rom via ODIN does not trip knox. It is just like getting an UPDATE from the carrier OTA.
BUT, If you are already rooted - you already have tripped knox - flashing Lollipop will remove root - but it will not do anything to change the fact that you tripped knox on your phone already.
As far as I know everything I have said is correct - based on what I have learned thru reading - flashing and using several different samsung phones -
finally, I see a lot of people paranoid as hell about tripping knox - and I can tell you without any hesitation that I have never had a problem getting service or replacements after rooting a phone - there have been a few times back when I first started flashing roms that I had issues with my phone and I took it in and got a replacement without any issue - once I broke my screen and got a replacement then too - both times I was rooted, running custom recovery - etc.

I used towel root on NE6. You can downgrade to that via Odin and not trip knox. As far as flashing 5.0 and losing root. I came from Alliance flash Twisted lollipop and kept root. Then used Odin to flash the bootloader and modem for OB1.

I started to think about rooting my g960f, it is a week year old device and the ads in apps annoys me so much. I will be using root to disable bixby through root uninstaller, if you have any other suggestions please tell. also I will be using mother of adblock, if you have any other suggestions please tell. - Is there any way to root the phone without custom recovery?
- will I be able to install system updates if I root the phone? if not how am I supposed to install them when the device is rooted?
- will it lose any of its features? if yes, which features?
- will I be able to go full stock again and gain all the lost features back?
I wont be installing custom rom as I already liked the stock rom but it needs some modification. I am sure that most of the people has the same questions in their minds so your answers would help many.

As long as all you did was root the phone and did not change the OS to a custom one you should be able to get OTA updates. You should be able to install OTA updates normally, but you will loose the root install and have to do it again. Since OTA updates may patch any exploits a root install tool may use you might not be able to root the phone again (at least not until the root utility is updated to use a different method) after an update, so keep that in mind.

Once you root you might very well trip Knox. If Knox is tripped Samsung Pay, Secure folders is what I can find Google Searching and searching the forum here as what wouldn't work Samsung app wise. S-Health would also stop working, but I've read about potential ways to make S-health work again. I am not sure if those ways still work or not.
Other apps (financial, etc) may not work if the phone is rooted..

Sort of... Knox secure apps like S-health, Secure Folders, Samsung Pay will not work. Once you trip knox they will not work on the device ever again. This is because once knox is tripped it is tripped, it's a hardware e-fuse. You can not fix it nor reset it.
Other apps that just detected whether root is installed (or being used) should return to normal

Personally I don't have a suggestion on a root method for your phone, but I do suggest you do some research on the subject. You can also look in the Galaxy S9 topic on XDA as that is the model you said you were using (G960F). In all honesty your gonna want to read up on what the process entails, what issues you might encounter and the risks involved... This is kind of a one way trip (metaphorically and essentially literally speaking) because if you trip knox (which you most likely will) you will void any warranty as well as permanently loose rather useful functionality on the phone (Samsung pay does come in handy IMHO). Not to mention root weakens the security of the phone and if your not careful you could (not saying you will, but could) run into a lot of problems.
Granted I am not saying you shouldn't root your phone but I am suggesting that in your case there is a more simpler method of doing what you want to do. Adhell3 was suggested and it's an app I use as well. Adhell3 will allow you to configure knox to do what you are seeking.. Knox can be configured to serve as a system wide ad blocking and it can be used as a way to disable apps on the phone (including bixby). There is more it can do, but I would suggest reading up on it (I can't give you all the answers, your gonna have to discover them also). Since your not trying to install an custom OS or changing cpu governors, cpu frequencies or anything Xposed related I would suggest looking into Adhell3 since that will do what you want without messing with Knox (or any potential issues with your phone from rooting). Also Adhell3 is not a permanent change to the phone, it can be fully removed, it doesn't weaken the security of the phone by allowing root access to the Android OS and file system on the phone and it will survive OTA updates.
Also if your looking to cut down on advertisements in applications I would suggest not installing as many.. Adblocking whether by hosts file or Adhell3 works by blocking the dns lookup of an advertisement. Both methods are not 100% perfect because if an advertisement comes from the same domain as where you are accessing (like facebook or Youtube sometimes do) then the advertisement will still be shown. Still to cut down on advertisements I would suggest going with Adhell3 over root.

Nope, that means also that once you decice to flash custom recovery your knox will be triggered 0x1 in bootloader and it cant be reversed by flashing stock.

Most devs here release latest build of their ROMs based on the latest security patches from official stock ROMs. You can just dirty flash the latest build over the previous one.

Remember to include Xprivacylua to inhibit apps from seeing what apps you have installed. Have helped me out using bank apps as well
I have the latest version G930PVPSACSF1 on several Sprint S7. I bought these from a company that upgraded but they forgot to unenroll them from knox and it wont work for me to reach out and ask their IT dept to unenroll them.
My understanding is that if I trip knox, they wont enroll in Knox and be locked down to the enterprise restrictions. Is that correct?
I got a root file that enables adb on them and allows me to remove frp for this version G930PVPSACSF1. After I flash the file with Odin the screen gives that "Custom" flash on boot screen, and then when it reboots adb is enabled and I can use tools to remove frp just fine. However, after that the phone reboots alot. So after I that I reflash the new stock firmware to get it stable. But once they are stable and not rebooting, they enroll in knox. Apparently the root file I have (if it is indeed a root file- all I know is that it enables adb on frp locked devices) does not trip knox. If tripping knox prevents the device from enrolling in knox then I would love to know how. Thanks

you can't use stock recovery you will need twrp
If you want to install magisk without twrp use the patch method
I have tried kingroot with no success it get stuck at 1%.
If I use magisk by patching the stock rom, then when an official samsung update comes out I can do it automatically as always?
By the way how can I check if the bootloader of my phone is unlocked ?

In develop section check to see if unlock option is there.
Download mode will tell you OEM state as well as KG/RMM state
If you modify your phone you won't get updates. Have to do manually.
Be aware rooting you phone will trip your knox. Won't be able to use knox related functions like secure folder,samsung pass, shealth etc.

ACtually I need root to try to recover some files on the internal memory with some data recovery programs...after that I don't need root anymore so maybe I could go back to full stock?

Once your modified phone knox will be tripped even when flash firmware again. There is no fix for a tripped knox.
If trying to recover lost files then using the patched method with magisk is a better option then using twrp.
I don't have much experience with recovering lost files as i have not had the need for it but i would try some non root methods first before rooting.
If you decide to root your phone you can unroot by magisk or flashing stock firmware.
Always backup your phone before doing anything.
Sadly all these program (one of the most famous is Dr. Fone) that go scanning the memory for deleted files need the privileges of root so I think that without rooting the phone it's not possible to do it anyway if I would lost the knox securty by rooting I'm not that happy too
"You may try looking into Extreme Syndicate root. It's used on the Snapdragon variants to root with a locked bootloader, so it doesn't trip Knox. I don't know if it will work on Exynos, but worth a look."
