What is it you would like to do? Keep it stock or root it?

start into recovery and do FactoryReset & WipeCache

Did that several times.. still stuck on the logo...

Maybe rooted, just so that I can flash a good stock custom rom... that is debloated, deoxed, good battery, camera etc...I may need suggestion wirh that one too....
I really appreciate u guys replying. .. thnx

You have bigger problems to solve first.
Go to sammobile.com and download the latest stock firmware for your own country.
Follow the instructions on how to flash with odin.
If the flash works then factory reset in recovery, before you try to boot.
If the flash fails then you may find the reason it suddenly stopped working.

Thank u for your response.
Thats the main problem I have. The phone is being used in Ghana now. I could have checked if could get to at lest the screen.
How can I check for the country when the fone wont get me to the screen. On top of that... its stocked and not rooted!

Root is not needed for flashing stock firmware.
Original country is irrelevant, use your own.

Okay sir, will proceed and get back to u...I appreciate the suggestions.

Once you have done what @boomboomer has said then we can help you with rooting and rom's, that is if you still want to root it.

Firmware MUST coincide with the original one, otherwise possibly bricking.

but I dont know the original firmware that came with it. What I do know is that.... its never been rooted or flashed before when bought

Go to a SamsungStore. Perhaps they can find out the country-code by the codes on the label behind the battery. But perhaps there are still other&better idea's...

No, this isn't true.
Only the model number of firmware must match the phone to avoid brick. CSC makes no difference and even region lock is irrelevant, if it worked in that country before.
Make sure you understand details yourself before advising others, although you did no harm in this case.

Okay I got it working one 4.3....thanx so much everyone. Now I wanna root and find a Rom that gives me max battery life...close to the stock as possible and also better camera quality. Also debloated....

Suggestion: NCS-ROM 8.1
Use it since 1 year and return always after trying another rom.

Thank you...will try that one too....am open to other suggestions too.... Roms close to stock but optimized for speed, debloated and very stable.

[Q] Help with 're' branding S2 please???

I got fed up waiting for the latest update on my O2 S2 so thought i'd try the 2.3.4 update. I didn't at this time realise it was an XEU firmware.
Using Odin was straight forward and I completed the flash and started using the phone. I got some unexpected lag and thought i'd revert back to the original firmware but it is this that is causing me a problem.
I attempted the reflash with the O2 firmware (KE7),
I now get the O2 bubbles on start up (which was replaced but a fragmentated S on 2.3.4, official samsung I believe) and in phone settings its says 2.3.3 however when I connect to Kies it says the CSC is XEU and not 02.
I tried the '272' imei trick but only get 1 option XEU.
Can anybody please help me revert my phone back to original???
Here's hoping somebody can help..
Branded rom /provider rom post or how to debrand O2 phone posts from Dev section .
Essentially flash the O2 firmware through Odin
jje
Thanks for the reply. I 'think' i have solved it now. I had flashed it with Odin but only once i had cleared the partition cache did Kies show the right firmware.
It does mean i have lost all of my apps so now am looking at a good backup app.
Any suggestions for a non rooted phone?

You can't backup apps unless your rooted as these live on the root of your phone.
You can root and keep the phone stock and not flash any custom roms.
Im on o2 uk. Had the xeukd1 csc before i switched.
If any of my friends asked me i would tell them to root and install a custom rom and kernel.
The themes and tweaks available are great. The biggest thing for me is the battery life. I now get only 1% battery drain overnight (7 hours) someone else on the same rom and kernel went over 6 days without charge.
Never would have got this before.

Many thanks for the reply.
It certainly sounds very interesting. I am new to rooting only having learnt about the basics of it over the past couple of days.
I presume therefore that should the need ever arise restoring the phone to its original firmware spec (as at time of purchase, and should warranty work be required) is possible?
I think I need to go and read some more on rooting.

Go to intratech's thread in original android development find out what firmware modem and csc you're using download and keep in a safe place. This is then your return to factory settings if you have a warranty issue.
If you need any help pm me as I won't always be popping in to this thread.

[Q] [Using a JIG][Getting ready for warranty]

Ive bought a JIG and would just like some noob-friendly layman advice and references on using the JIG and steps i need to take to prep for a warranty return (I tried searching but im not good at processing large amounts of information so ended up no where). Linking will be fine if you cant be bothered.
I also have other questions such as, when they return the device do i lose ROOT and such? Will they flash an unrootable/unexploitable ROM?
Thanks so much.

Turn the phone off place usb recovery jig in usb port . Screen should now show custom rom zero .

What preps ???
Requirments are no root and no custom rom and rom counter at zero .
= flash your original rom or stock rom to remove root .
I also have other questions such as, when they return the device do i lose ROOT and such? Will they flash an unrootable/unexploitable ROM?
If you have root on returning your warranty is void .
They will flash a standard stock rom .

with available sources you cant...
I reacently went to the showroom where I purchased the phone, I just picked a display peice and checked the firmware version, it was still my stock version, but in my region (in middle east it may work since all middle east firmware are same) this way you could guess and flash the same...
If you dont know what you bought then just guess at location etc .

Sure you can fail.
My recommendation: do your due diligence in research, and make sure whatever you are flashing is meant for your model of phone before doing anything.
#1 reason I've seen for bootloops and bricks is due to people just flashing the first thing they find, which ends up being a firmware meant for a different model of phone.
If you want an easy an almost 100% brick free way to root your phone, download siyah kernel and just flash it through the PDA section of Odin.
That will give you root + permanent CWM
I rooted phone with odin and it's ok but I think there is something wrong with GPS.(Not working)
It start working when I rebooted my phone.
Another thing..Where can I get boot animations ?
I found it (lol) Thanks for everything
Google can be really good friend!

[Q] Unrooting/going back to XXELLA

Hi there. First off all, i AM familiar with the process of rooting. I have rooted a few phones before(not recently). This is not what i need help with.
However, i have never unrooted a device/gone back to stock firmware.
I am currently thinking about rooting my SGS3. But at some time, i am going to sell the phone to someone else. And they would probably want a "new"/fresh phone with stock firmware.
Therefore what i need help with is how to unroot my S3.
As far as i understand. This is done by flashing the device and put the firmware (XXELLA) on it.
But if i already have rooted my device, and i do as mentioned above, will this work as an unroot?
If i do this, will the phone be as it currently is(before rooting)? Or will there be small changes or flaws/differences from the current firmware?
The firmware i have found and wich is corresponding with my currently firmware is:
I9300XXELL1_I9300AMNELL1_AMN
(could not post link since i do not have enough posts yet)
Does anyone know if this would be the same firmware wich is currently on my device?
I may have misunderstood parts of the process, so please have me excused for this.
Thanks in advance.
See the attached picture for device information.
ELL1 is not the same as ELLA. it will unroot, yes

I understand.
I forgot to say that when i unpack what i download i get:
KIES_HOME_I9300XXELLA_I9300OXAELLA_742798_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
So i guess this is the XXELLA firmware.
I have also checked out several guides for updating with this firmware, and every guide links to this file.
yes, it's the same
Moved to proper forum.
You will also want to remove the flash counter, using Triangle Away.
Alternatively, you can follow this thread here
This way, the one you are selling your phone to will have the warranty in place

Stock Roms

Having trouble finding stock roms, can anyone point me in the right direction of where I can find what Im looking for?? Those that I have found are eiter hosted by hotfile, which has been taken down or on the Sammobile and Terafile which unless you are a premium memeber, the download times are horrendous. Im looking for unbranded roms. Not looking to root and install custom roms at this time. Thanks in advance guys, any help with this will be be very much appreciated
Also looking for this
I have a galaxy s3 I9300 which since I did a factory reset now sticks on the Samsung logo however I can boot into recovery and into download (the phone was rooted before I did factory reset but I am not bothered about preserving root as I just want to sell it) All I want to do it install a standard samsung stock rom. In download mode Odin 3.07 sees the device so I presume that I cold flash the stock rom from there IF I could find one - the damn us government has taken down hotfiles and like the OP I can only find premium sources. As I say I dont mind if the rom is rooted or not just as long as it returns the phone to working order - I dont have any data to worry about

The problem here is that I cannot get into the phone to check the firmware! It is an unlocked UK version of GT-i9300 and someone suggested "BTU" was the right one but this isn't listed on the site you gave - at least not with BTU in the name - there are so many listed and none with even any indication of country
I clicked download on the most likely one which is I9300XXUGMJ9_I9300OXAGMJ9_BTU.zip - I didnt see BTU until I got to the download step - is this likely to be a UK unlocked one or would I be taking a risk installing it?
