Nexus 6 Otterbox Request Let them know! - Nexus 6 Accessories

Otterbox is putting a feeler out there on who will buy a Nexus 6. Let them know so we will finally have a Nexus device Otterbox!
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10152540885098003&id=54145863002&refid=17

If I buy a N6, I won't be using any case... especially not an otter box that will make it an inch bigger

Otterbox has a brutal bulk to actual protection ratio. They should consult Tech21 to see how actual protection is done.
Most of the people commenting on that are whiny iPhone brats anyway. No surprise they want Otterboxes too.

If i get one... which i'm seriously considering... it'll be lucky to be in a case (why would i want to cover up the prettiness?). If it DOES go in a case... it'll be the type of case i always use. A TPU case. Otterbox is just overrated, overpriced plastic fluff that adds bulk with very little benefit. They practically charge more for plastic than car manufacturers do.

every year the same, but they never make and nexus case, give up

worst case I ever owned, not to mention crazy overpriced, just slap a nice minimalist tpu case, and will take care of all sorts of drops

Screw Otterbox. Since they refused to build a case for the Nexus 4 I've relied on Spigen for all my Nexus cases. They provided superior cases for the Nexus 5 and I'm counting on them for support for Nexus 6.

Otter box is junk.

Yeah they never made a case for the 4 or 5 so I ended up getting the Seido Convert. I actually like Otterbox, if anything for the built in screen protector on the Defender. I'm thinking they will be made for the N6.

I can see why they didn't make ones for the Nexus of the past but given this device will be available every where, I can't see them not making one this time.

I had a Commuter case for my GNex, it was a super protective case, my wife has one on her iPhone 5 as well. I think adding that bulk to the N6 would be too much, not sure if I would purchase. Spigen has been making some great looking cases also.

Nexus 6 Symmetry Series
Someone request the Symmetry Series case (like the one they have for the LG G3) for the Nexus 6 so it isn't so absurdly bulky. I don't have a facebag account nor do I want one.

I don't have an FB account either, but they posted the exact same thing on their g+ account (don't have a high enough post count to write the link here, but it's easy to find).
And seeing as they seem to be the only ones thinking of something rugged for the Nexus 6 (Trident doesn't think of anything, Ballistic with dust covers are too big for me, and Spigen doesn't plan anything with dust covers), I guess an Otterbox Commuter would suit me fine.

Ive always got otterbox , until i got my nexus phone. I like the alternatives except that i work in a shop and need a holster. Know of any alternatives , with holsters?

Seidio Convert

I use to like Otterbox but like most case manufactures lately it seems that they are all in with either Apple or Samsung and screw anyone else. But then again it doesnt help when carriers like Verizon make alterations to the devices after case manufactures have already launched their case designs *cough cough* Verizon and the LG G2.

Again... another good reason to just go with a cheapy eBay TPU case. Always a plethora of no-name cases, and for the most part, they're just as good as the more expensive ones.

Since it's going multi carrier, we should be getting one. I also came across this today as well.

You do realize that all the images from that video are the Otterbox Cases for the Moto X 2014, right?

That's my bad. I have the new Moto X with the same Otterbox. To me it looked slightly different.

Which Case Do You Reccomend for Atrix?

I wanna buy a case for my Atrix. My budget is small (around $5-$10).
So which one would you reccomend me?
Thanks!
I like the basic TPU cases. They don't add too much bulk and don't collect dust, but protect the phone from dings and scratches. They also have a lip around the front, so if the phone is set on a flat surface the screen won't actually touch the surface. It will make your phone somewhat warmer though, but pretty much all cases will probably do this, and it probably won't protect your phone as well as some of the larger cases. The case I use is $2.86 shipped from amazon and fits perfectly. I also have an otterbox but use the TPU case since its smaller, and doesn't collect dust like the otterbox. I know a lot of people like the otterboxes though. The jelly silicone cases are also dust collectors and tend to stretch after a while so I would advise avoiding any of those. If you look through this accessories forum you will see a lot of threads about cases that usually have reviews and pictures, so I suggest you read through some of those threads and find a case that looks good to you and sounds like what you are looking for from the reviews.
I would also suggest getting a screen protector. While the atrix does have gorilla glass, it is not truly unbreakable or unscratchable. While some may argue that its not really necessary, it costs a few dollars and has the potential to protect your phone's screen from scratches.
Great! Btw can you give me the product link you bought from Amazon?
I found this one: http://www.amazon.com/MOTOROLA-ATRI..._1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1321000892&sr=1-3
But it says its a Gel Case (I don't TPU & Gel Cases are the same or not! )
If you need a strong case for a low price (there's better out there but well outside your price range) you can get a refurbished Otterbox Defender for $12 shipped:

Edit: Yes, I bought one from these guys. It's legit.

Mine's fine. I even broke the holster clip and Otterbox is sending me a new one. My point is that if there's something wrong with it their warranty will cover it. It's a good way to save money and maximize your phone's protection.
Besides otterbox isn't minimal in size! It needs some extra space around the phone which makes it bigger! I don't like it. I like a minimal one yet that would protect my phone. Just like roswellkidd says. TPU cases are good
Bestbuy.com is selling the Otterbox Impact case for $3.75 with free shipping.

Thanks! Maybe I'd buy it now!
The Impact case isn't as strong as the Defender refurb I listed earlier, but this is a lot cheaper and will most definitely save your phone from drops.
Should I go with a TPU case or this case? This still looks bulky! Besides, I think this won't perfectly fit into my pocket!
It depends on what your real need is. The Otterbox cases are for people who expect to drop their phone more often than others. I drop my phone at least once a day on hard surfaces and/or from insane heights (I'm a CATV installer that's clumsy with his phone). For a general user, the TPU case would be fine if you're not expecting to drop it a whole lot. It's also more fashionable, it won't make your phone look like it just Hulked out.
Personally, I'd keep a cheap Otterbox around in any case, you might need it if you're going to do anything daring. At least it wouldn't be a bad idea to have an Otterbox on a phone that may fall out of your pocket on a rollercoaster at Six Flags (happened to me without an Otterbox... I had to bury the phone).

I'm on this group. I take good care of my phone. Besides, I can live without case. Just need it to make it more durable. So I'd go with a TPU case. Thanks for helping me to take my decision. As I'm a teenager style does matter for me

My wife's probably at least twice your age and we still have to stylize her phone so I have to look at aesthetics every time I order a case as well
for your price range, you should just grab the refurbished deals posted.
or save up money and get a real case.
wow sorry I didn't get back earlier, I am actually too new to post links, but if you type in "atrix TPU case" into amazon you will see the TPU cases, that gel case you posted looked like a silicone case not a TPU case. Mine was the "smoke grey cruzer argyle" TPU case that is currently $2.86 with free shipping, although all five or so of the top results look like they are essentially the same, just different colors.
I hope I didn't talk you out of an otterbox in my first post, I personally was not satisfied with mine, but as you can see here most people love them. I also have never dropped my phone, so my case is basically just to protect it from dings and scratches if I ever do drop it. I don't expect it to protect my phone in a ten foot drop, but considering the highest I would ever have the chance of dropping it from in my daily routine is just a few feet, Ill take the slimmer case even if it does have less protection.
I, like many others, put in a vote for a TPU case... I have used the Otterbox Impact case, the rugged battery cover, and the TPU case...and the TPU case is by far may favorite. It offers ok drop protection, but mainly I love it becuase it's easy to get out of my pockets while the Impact or any rubberized case sticks to pockets making it really hard to get out in the car or while sitting in general. I think the atrix is a little too small without a case and the TPU case makes it slightly larger but not too large...it's the way to go.

Otterbox Defender knockoff.

Found what looks to be a knockoff of an Otterbox Defender that (according to the seller) fits our AT&T variant of the Galaxy S2. I've got one ordered and will report back when it shows up to let everyone know how well it fits. He has quite a few colors listed on his Ebay store, though I was boring and just went with black.
http://stores.ebay.com/Monster-Acce...799423011&_sid=62112801&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
Yes please let us know how it works out for you. The one thing ive noticed with the knock-off otterboxs is the silicon skin is a little more plyable.
I've torn the silicon skin on so many "real" otterbox cases that might be a good thing. Especially since you can't buy just the silicon bits.
I contacted one of the ebay sellers that's listing a "not"erbox, about the fit and whether or not it has a built-in screen protector.
His reply: Thank you for your interest. Yes it does have a built-in screen protector but the quality isn't that great. Many of our customers ened up removing it. There is a very slight size difference between i777 and i9100 but this case will fit both.
I ended up buying the Seidio combo from Bestbuy for $34.
I take the screen protector off, too much dust and other stuff can get in-between the plastic protector and glass.
So I got the knockoff in...the case itself fits pretty well though it's obviously made for the international version. The biggest issue is how badly the belt clip attaches to the holster...if I dare try and rotate the thing it falls right off the clip. The built-in plastic screen protector on even the brand name ones annoy me, but this one annoys me more. I think I'm going to have to try out this particular seller's return policy unfortunately. I think for the price & low-quality build of this thing people should steer clear, especially now that better options are showing up for less than 2x the cost at major retailers.

That's the one I want
I messed around with one at a local mall store. The guy wanted $20 for it without the holster, but that's not why I passed on it. I thought it fit well enough, but the built-in screen protector was a waste of effort on the manufacturer's part. It was brownish, foggy and scratched (and that's after I removed the plastic protection). Seems like they could have done better with that, or just left it off.
The other problem was that there were no holes for the mic (near the headphone jack). So, I'll continue to wait... The Trident site states that there Kraken AMS for Galaxy S2 is "coming soon". Hope it's for the i777. I'd be on that quick.
I just talked to Trident on the phone, and they said that it's the Kraken AMS (the one with the solid exoskeleton) coming for the I777 next month (Jan). She said it was coming in all of their colors, too.
I have 1 of these it's called a ballistic case I paid 35 dollars at an at&t store and I absolutely love it. its it's very very snug anime iphone pills extra protective since I work in a warehouse and I've had a lot of cracked screens on my other phones because dropping them on the hard concrete. it does add some way to the phone as well as a definite notice and thickness. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to protect their phone. I'm positive this will last most users until the next upgrade.

[Q] Droid DNA Cases - What are you using?

Hey guys,
Been using my DNA for the past year without a case and finally cracked the screen. Needless to say, after I repair it I'll be getting a case.
My issue is, most of the cases I see for the DNA are either downright ugly, or add a lot of bulk to the phone. I love how slim it is without a case, but obviously, with my clumsy hands should get one for protection purposes.
So, what cases are you guys using?
I currently have a generic wannabe case. It's got a plastic snap on cover, then a rubber casing around that. It's similar to what I'm getting. I had a Seidio case for my Thunderbolt, and was pleased to find they make the same thing for the DNA. They call it "Dilex" now. But you can get it on Ebay for 10 bucks less than Amazon as the "Active" case. It has a two-piece plastic cover, then a rubber cover, then an exoskeleton. AND it has a kickstand. I loved my Tbolt kickstand. I had my Tbolt for 3 years and it stayed in outstanding condition using the Seidio. I'm definitely a repeat customer.
Here's Seidio's page about the case:
http://www.seidioonline.com/seidio-htc-droid-dna-dilex-s/8532.htm
On Amazon, the price varies from like 28 bucks to 35 depending on color.

Here it is on Ebay:

If you find a difference between the "Dilex", and "Active", feel free to educate me. I haven't found a difference yet. I just figured Active was the old name.

I have a red Seidio Active (silver kickstand) that I've had since the 3rd day after I got my DNA and it's great. My only complaint is it does feel a little thick and I only use the kickstand as a novelty. It can't reach the wireless charger when propped up and I don't need to charge it other than overnight when I'm sleeping. I had a UAG on my Galaxy S3 and I desperately wish they had a version for the DNA as it offered the same protection but wasn't quite as bulky. The Seidio is top quality though.
Otterbox commuter series, I've been using them for 4 years now and no broken phones or no cracked anythings
Hard thin shell on the outside with a nice durable silicon/rubber on the inside (better IMO that the defender series cases) cost is around 35-40$ however if it breaks (which is extremely unlikely) just take a pic of the broken case and they send you a new one no charge AFAIK
Never needed to get a replacement as these are solid quality cases can't go wrong with otterbox

I have been using the diztronic case for over a year and it doesn't add a lot of bulk its basically a tpu case but has a matte finish. I like it and I tried the otter box defender case but it was so bulky I went back. I think its one of the better cases if you want something without bulk but I would think the screen would crack if the phone took a direct hit on the screen. Though I haven't had any cracks with it after a year and I drop my phone every now and then.

This is not much help, but hopefully you can go another year "naked". I have no case on my phone and love it. My wife has an S4 with a case (I forget the brand, but it has the rubber and then the hard plastic over it), and I think her phone is bulky.
Coming from a Droid 2, 3, and 4, most anything smaller that a 2x4 is small but the DNA has spoiled me.
I have cracked screens with and without a case. Currently naked and love it!
I use an Incipio Dual Pro. I love it.
I use the seido surface. Its raised a little bit above the screen which makes me a little less worried if I drop it, although it's still not as protected as it would be with something like an otterbox. It doesn't add any bulk to the phone, and doesn't ruin the shape of the phone so it looks almost the same as it does with the case off. I would just use the phone naked but it just feels like it's going to slip right out of my hand when I do that.

I'm using the Seidio Surface too, I love the case, slim, doesn't add bulk, I have drop it a few times and screen still intact, plus the case has a polycarbonate feel, feel great on hand.
I use a otterbox defender and it is kind of bulky; but I am a metal roof salesman and use my phone extensively for work; pictures, pitch guage, ect... If my phone gets dropped on, or off, a roof it's chances of breaking are very high. I like the belt clip as well.
I use the Sedio Dilex with the built in kickstand. I miss my Thunderbolt, hahaha. Seriously solid case. :good:
FYI, you might find better/more info in the Accessories Forum..
Personally I am using the BodyGlove Dropsuit. It is inexpensive, thin, and seems to protect pretty well. I have dropped my DNA a few times, even once right on the corner on hard tile, and I don't have a scratch..

Confused - Case Selection Nexus 6 vs Droid Turbo

Why the heck is Otterbox bringing out a "droid turbo" case and yet refusing to bring out one for the Nexus 6? The droid turbo is available on a single carrier and yet the "nexus 6" case will be available EVERYWHERE. This is maddening to me as an otterbox fan.
No one will have the Nexus till end of November.
I am a fan of the Otterbox Commuter cases, but since they never made one for either the Nexus 4 or Nexus 5, i found that the Seidio Dilex cases are a decent similar case.
For now, I pre-ordered the Spigen Perfect-Fit Slim case on Amazon. Can't go wrong temporarily for $6.99
Because **** Otterbox.

good suggestion on the Spigen case, thanks.
Otterbox actually are the only ones at least considering a properly rugged case for the Nexus 6:
- Trident told me they didn't plan anything for now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/accessories/trident-nexus-6-t2914632
- Ballistic doesn't plan anything for now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/accessories/ballistic-case-nexus-6-t2912528
- Ringke MAX generally has some level of dust covers, but seems flimsy in front of an Otterbox Commuter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/accessories/rearth-ringke-nexus-6-t2912914
- Spigen will at most sell a Thin Armor (without dust covers - only the Tough Armor would have those, and would be too big for this phone anyway, imho): http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/accessories/spigen-case-t2908133
- Rhinoshield may plan what'd be the best bumper case, but it'd be just that: a bumper case, without back protection, nor even dust covers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/accessories/rhinoshield-crash-guard-t2916820
So, well: meanwhile, Otterbox hasn't said no yet. I know there's a grudge between Nexus lovers and Otterbox, seeing as they failed to offer any case for the last two models, but still. They at least are considering it for the Nexus 6, and would immediately become the best rugged option, should they offer at least a Commuter case (I for one don't care about grudges and things like that: I'm only interested in products doing the job I'm after, and seeing the feelers until now, a Commuter case still would do the best job at rugging the Nexus 6, and still is a possibility).
I thus see little reason for complaining for now. And if you want to press them into releasing something, you can either try their FB page (https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10152540885098003&id=54145863002&refid=17) or their g+ page (https://plus.google.com/+otterbox/posts/Muatr3oF7Hx). Seems you've already done it on their g+ page, but giving the link for others can't hurt.
Also, there's already a thread about Otterbox for the Nexus 6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/accessories/nexus-6-otterbox-request-t2907452

Otterbox-like case?

I have a Note 3 with an Otterbox Defender case. Love it. My previous phone had a Ballistic case. I really liked it, but I like the all rubber back of the Otterbox Defenders, gives much better grip and better protection in my opinion.
Is there anything similar for the Nexus 6 right now? I ordered a Foscom Rugged one off Amazon, the outside is a hard plastic and the inner softer shell feels really rigid.
Might want to look at the seidio dilex if otter box doesn't have one yet. I can't think of any other otter box type cases really as I prefer slimmer gear.
I ordered this case from Amazon and really like it.

The best case for nexus 6 is the ballistic tough max. It's more like an otter box then any case available. Also my otter box that I had for my droid maxx before switching to nexus 6 wasn't rubber on the back? The plastic part clips over the rubber just like ballistic. So I'm confused. But anyways ballistic is way to go on nexus 6.

Otterbox has several series. Commuter is rubber touching the phone, then a hard plastic shell on the back. The Defender series has the hard plastic touching the phone, then encased in a rubbery shell.
Depends on which kind of Otterbox you mean, really.
I overviewed some two-piece cases (i.e., inner sleeve + outer frame) which have similar characteristics to the bigger Otterbox styles, for example.
The Supcase and Ballistic Max cases mentioned above are also within the same ballpark.

The Trident Aegis and Seidio Dilex resemble the Commuter. I have the Dilex. It does add some thickness and weight but its solid.

I have this one too. Really nice. Supcase makes great cases. I also have their regular Unicorn Beetle case with the clear plastic back, and that one is even better than the Pro series cases.
I just ordered this one

From what I understand its slightly less bulky than the supcase plus IMO it looks much better than the supcase or the ballistic

I have this case and it works pretty great. Protected from a few drops already, but I did remove the built in screen protector as I can never stand those. Still a great case without the screen protector as it maintains its integrity.

I always gauge the thickness by the cutout around the camera. Holy cow that thing's a vault!
Ive purchased a few of the Supcases off of Amazon and have been blown away with how Nice they are. I wont buy Otterbox anymore because of it.

I really don't like the smooth plastic backs of those types of cases. I do have a Supcase for my IPad. I agree it offers the same or better protection as an otterbox at a fraction of the price. I got the Foscom and it's pretty nice. I also ordered a Ballistic Tough Maxx. I know it's also smooth on the back, but I had one for a different phone and the dimples in it help give it some grip.

I have this case too. I like it for the most part, but I'm thinking of getting either the Supcase or Ballistic. The recesses in the back add some grip, but i feel the TPU material is harder than it needs to be and will transfer more energy from an impact, and the N6 is a heavy phone...
I think the trident aegis is as close to otterbox as you can get, it's a good case. An unseen benefit of the aegis is it sits flat so if you use the phone while its on a table it won't rock like a curved back does.
Otterbox
Has anyone else tried contacting Otterbox to see if they plan to develop a case for the Nexus 6? They seem to develop cases based on interest, or at least that's what I was told when I called them to ask. So I would advise anyone else interested in an Otterbox to contact them and ask when they plan to release one.
Got a Ballistic Tough Maxx today. Realy like the feel. I think it's the best case. Just wish it had a kickstand.

Don't think they 're going to start making a case because a few people from XDA want it. I'm sure they're looking at sales figures from Google and Motorola to see how many people own one.

They would never make a case for a phone this late in the device's life cycle.
You never owned a note 3 then, cases didn't start flowing until months later.
