Need help
I installed TWRP on my phone and formatted it(including system). I now have no OS. I do have the location on how to place the backup but I cant get TWRP to mount so I am not able to get the stock rom on my phone... Can you tell me how I can do that?

Do you have a USB Flash Drive? I couldn't ever get the version of TWRP we have to recognize microSD cards. You may have to try a USB OTG Cable/Flash Drive (while undocked).

Dont have a USB OTG but my local computer store has one for 5 bucks and I just put it on hold. Thanks, would have not thought of that.

I'm not 100% sure it will work. I must keep two OTG cables. One for the Shield Tablet, one for the m7. Neither cable is interchangeable, sadly. I also never tested OTG storage through TWRP on this device.

I did the same thing and ended up having to push the backup from my computer via ADB. After that I just restored the backup and rebooted. I tried going the OTG route first, but I don't think USB-OTG works on this unofficial TWRP.

This is what I am struggling most with. I do not know how to ADB into the phone from TWRP. If I knew this step I would be in the clear... Do I do that ADB sideload function?

Backup Rom for Padfone X
Dear Raleigh, NC
You saved my day, my week, everything.
I bricked my Padfone X so hard that it still hurts. However, thanks to your backup ROM, I managed to get it back.
I had an unfortunate issue as I got stuck in TWRP mode without any OS.
what I did was to send via ADB push the folder inside your zip (after unzipping it) .
Than I copied the respective backup to TWRP backup folder:
/data/media/TWRP/backups/(device serial)
after that just a simple recovery and the game was done.
Thank you once again for your work.

ADB freezes my computer, can't flash ROM

So I made the terrible mistake of wiping my data / system partitions and internal SD without putting a ROM on the phone. I was trying to revert the phone to a stock build via the RUU utility (I need to flash the phone to another carrier and I can't do that without the stock phone app) but it failed so now I'm just stuck with a phone with nothing to boot into. I tried to run the RUU again but it freezes my whole computer after clicking "Upgrade" (there's some serious disk activity going on but nothing happens, unlike the first time when it proceeded after that.
I can't mount the internal SD on my computer as Windows 7 won't recognize it (a new disk shows up but I can't go into it). I've tried to use ADB sideload in TWRP but my computer hangs when I issue the command and I have to hard reset it. Trying to flash the zip via fastboot also requires a hard reset.
I am moonshine S-Offed and I'm using the latest TWRP recovery. I am pretty sure I have all the drivers installed (HTC Sync is installed and I also updated them with the drivers from PDaNet). Help?! I just want to get it back up and running, I'm just going to flash a non-RUU stock rooted ROM.

If you have a recovery you can just use a USB OTG cable, a thumbdrive with your rom images on it and install a rom from external SD.

You got lucky. The way it sounded in your original post was that even ADB was broken. By that point, if you have a working recovery, the only thing you CAN do is flash an image... and without an SDCard to pull out of the phone, you can only do it through USB OTG on the DNA.
So I'd still pick up a USB OTG cable in case you need it in the future.

I know. Way too lucky. ADB has always been a pain for me, even with my Rezound. I will definitely be buying an OTG cable or that OTG-like sd card plugin asap!
boot into recovery and push the file to the /sdcard
no need to mount anything just make sure it says adb device: **device_id##**
when you have twrp booted and plug it in to your pc it will act as if the system is already mounted if you type adb shell it will bring up the shell of the phones storage then exit and just adb push rom.zip /sdcard/rom.zip and its there...
You can use this tool kit to help you out. I have used it and its very simple. The creator did a wonderful job with it. Best of luck to you!

Hi mate,
I have had the same problem.Your USB port doesn't work because it's bent. So get a toothpick or needle, get the battery out and bend your usb port a bit down (you should have ratio 2:1 of space between usb connection to usb port)

i doubt that is the problem because it charges my phone when i connect my phone with my PC. My MTP Application must be corrupted or something.

If it doesn't connect you even on it might be a usb problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15924419&postcount=13
I have had the same, phone wouldn't boot at all as it was stuck on boot menu (it assumed that was connected to usb)
But if it persist, and it's MTP, just try safemode of you PC operating system (i assume it's windows) and install the driver from here

other USB cables don't work either and this is a original samsung data cable. it works with other devices i have tested it many times
There used to be a bunch of CWM flashable stock roms in a thread in the General section. I don't think there'd be anything 'recent' firmware-wise (probably ICS/early JB, you never know though), but the name of the game is to get your phone working so that doesn't matter. Do an XDA/Google search (sorry, don't have a link).
Firstly your phone rooted?
If you are not able to connect to pc then make sure you have usb drivers installed on your pc.
If rooted then pls do a new zip install and bring your phone to working status

If you can find that thread for firmware zips that @MistahBungle mentioned, you won't need to worry about gapps as it will be included in the zip.

its a unofficial build, and the developer said to only flash the Slim_minimal_gapps.4.3.build.2 so just use that one it comes with:
Google Play (of cours)
Youtube (You may get pixelated video, but it is not the gapps or rom problem, its because google)
Google Music
Gmail

bricked with adb

hey guys, i have no clue what happened. i havent fooled around and fiddled with my HDX 8.9 in months. i rooted it in december and installed safestrap last month (but i didnt use it. i only installed safestrap in anticipation of a rom) and out of the blue my kindles wifi stopped working yesterday. i decided to restart it bc thats the ultimate fix for all electronics but now its stuck on the animated kindle fire boot logo. ADB works and i can also boot into fastboot. Thats where my knowledge ends. i dont have the knowledge you guys have and i have googled this for the past 3 hoours but to no avail. i would find other help on other devices but i dont wanna risk ruining my hdx even more by trying another devices fix.
can anyone tell me how to recover from adb. i tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530623
and it just booted me into fastboot and i would use this command: "fastboot -w -i 0x1949" and that doesnt do anything. androidcowboy seemed to have some problems with that method too, so im skeptical. is there someway to push a unmodified firmware and get stock back?? ill provide any more info you guys need. a quick step by step or a link to somebody elses page would be awesome!! a cookie to the best helper! :highfive:
PS i should also mention that i can in fact boot into safestrap. however, my backup does not appear. my internal storage in safestrap says 0mb. is my internal sdcard not mounting for a reason?
please help!

did you use the normal usb calbe to boot into fastboot mode? or you were using a special usb cable?
if you can boot into safesatrap, then your hdx is not a brick at all ,you can fix it in safestrap ,try to google the ways using the SS.

thanks for response. i was using a normal cable. are you sugesting that i load amazons official firmware over my stock partition through SS? this is why i was asking because this is what it seems google say to do. i was planning on doing that but i didnt want to mess my device up more so thats why i was asking. i was thinking of creating a slot and installing stock firmware on it and see if it was safe but because my internal storage doesnt mount and shows up as 0mb i was unable to create a slot and load the firmaware.
please be a little more specific as to what i should be googling and i will gladly do it. i hate asking questions in forums bc i dont want to be that guy who takes peoples time up for a simple solutioin but the truth is that i looked everywhere before i asked the question. i have a couple of methods i would like to use but i dont know which one is the right one and the safest one. im leaning towards reloading stock amazon firmware into the stock slot on SS.
thanks again and sorry for being a pain. im a noob compared to most of you guys but believe it or not im quite tech saavy.

Nabi 2 Help

Here goes. Wiped Nabi 2. Now cannot install any files. No Twrp, no recovery. When I connect USB cable it loads mtp drivers and nabilab cannot detect the nabi 2. Any help here would be great. Nabi will not boot, just goes to logo. Was also wondering if it is possible to take a new nabi 2. Rip the files off it onto an sd card and transfer to the one that isn't working. Seems like I've tried everything. Would appreciate any help as my kids keep fighting over the new Nabi2 that actually works.
Thanks

Do you guys have a recovery firmware? You try searching stock Nabi 2 firmware and then follow the steps on recovery..I'll try to search around for you and post here if I find anything..

Was able to get fastboot to install a recovery. After that the tablet would boot straight to the bootloader screen. Did a factory reset. Now back to booting to the Nabi logo (not spinning). Not sure what the next thing to try is.
There is a lot of info here that can help get you going .

[Solved] No Operating System, Bootloop, ADP devices blank

I accidentally (and stupidly) wiped my OS on my DNA. I'm stuck in a bootloop and when I type adb devices it says:
List of devices attached:
(blank)
However, when I am in fastboot and type fastboot devices, it says the serial number of my phone.
Does anyone know of any way for me to get an operating system back installed? I have access to TWRP v2.6.3.0.
I scoured XDA for the past 4 hours looking for anything resembling my situation and found nothing. I tried different approaches that were listed that somewhat fit my situation, but to no avail.
Anyone? Please? I'm pretty literate when it comes to these phones, I just haven't ever come across stupidly wiping everything on my phone, including the OS.
It just freezes at the HTC screen and I don't know how to flash any ROM (or anything at this point) using fastboot.

I had the latest TWRP and it wasn't working. I then switched to CWM (via fastboot flash) and it still wouldn't recognize.
I previously had the ViperDNA rom installed and I think once everything was wiped (OS included), my computer no longer recognized my cellphone.
Is there any other way to recover my device / OS? Possibly only using fastboot?

Do you have a USB otg cable and a thumb drive? That's another easy way to get a ROM into recovery. If not, the next easiest thing (other than going and buying one or finding someone that you can borrow one from) would be to find a guide to ruu back to stock (make sure you do not screw up locking the bootloader!) and then start over with rooting / unlocking.

I do have a thumbdrive but not a USB otg cable (I can go buy one)
So if I'm accessing it through twrp, is there a particular folder which will allow me access to the thumb drive?
Also, would I be good simply flashing a Rom.zip and have everything re-installed?
Thanks so much for your replies, I really REALLY appreciate it!
Also, I don't think my phone is USB Debugging activated, if I need to activate it is there a way to do it if everything on my phone has been wiped and I have no immediate access to activating the option?

No problem.
I don't use twrp but I would imagine it is fairly obvious how to select the usb-otg drive. If not, try cwr. I know that used to work and was fairly obvious (but I forget the exact details).
There isn't any way to enable USB debugging in recovery but flashing a working ROM should get you back in business.

So I don't need USB debugging activated in order to flash a rom from a USB otg drive, correct?
Thanks again bud, you've talked me off the ledge.

You shouldn't. Usb storage is just storage.

The USB OTG is a GODSEND.
As are you, crpalmer, thank you so much for all the help!!
bhinderoid, did you fix it? Another option is ADB sideload. I've been in the same position as you and it is awful.
here is another thread that mentions the steps and issues.
