[Q] mobile hotspot /straight talk/AT&T HTC Desire 610 GO Phone - HTC Desire 610

There is a rooted unlocked boot loader with TWRP htc desire 610 of AT&T GO phone with Straight Talk
Android 4.4.2
mobile HotSPot does not start as upon attempting to turn on it gives the following error:
"There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablement of of the Mobile Hotspot function"
After searching saw lots of searches that said get SQLite Editor and go to data and then data and then android provider settings, and then system, and databases and search for line that has "tether" and entitlement in it and set it to 0. Also in other threads it said go to Global and do that with tether dun and set to 0.
NEITHER of those lines exist in this phone despite multiple attempts to turn it on.
Any suggestions?
Also are there any custom ROMS for this phone?

any answers appreciated

Has there been any headway made on this? I really need to have tethering for my tablet.

Um facing same problem

[Q] Wifi tether on LG Thrive

I just got a LG thrive, Im using my post-paid sim card from a Inspire 4G in it. Im trying to get the wifi tether working. I tried using quick setting but it crashes the phone. I tried using the hot spot widget but it also crashes the phone. I also tried using a modified apn from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980591 it worked on my Inspire 4G, but it either says "There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablement of mobile hotspots" or " Authentication was unsuccessful. To enable mobile hotspot on this device go to att.com/mywireless" I have been searching and trying to figure out this problem all afternoon. On th stores demo thrive I was able to get it working after two minutes and only one crash. I have already installed pdanet, not sure how well it works on this phone since I have yet to test it, but i would really like to get the wifi tether working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Someone has to know something...

Anyone working on getting it to work for LG-P506 (LG Thrive)? Or know of any methods to get it to act as a wireless hotspot? I've tried Quick Settings and it restarts the phone but haven't tried Easy Tether yet because I don't even know if it enables shared WiFi and uses a USB connection to share it.
I was able to down load easy tether from the market place when I took the sim out and went to the market on wifi. It wouldn't let me do it with the sim in. I haven't actually used the app yet because I usually use my iPad or galaxy and rarely use the laptop anymore. But it did work with the backflip and that phone is big time locked down.
USB tethering: Authentication was unsuccessful
I have the same problem. LG thrive says:
Authentication was unsuccessful
There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enblement of the Mobile hotspot function. Please retry later.
and it is the same error for USB tethering or portable Wifi hotspot
Have anybody solved this? Any sugestions?

Disable radio?

Hello,
I'm about to be an owner of one of these units, however I do not plan on signing up for tmobile service.
I had an HTC EVO View 4G and there were quite a few roms out there that disabled the sprint activation on boot and a script that disabled the radio. I think that script might still work, however does anyone here make any custom roms that automatically disables it?
I haven't really heard much talk about just using WiFi, who here just uses Wifi? How does it work and perform?
I use WiFi almost always when at home. No problems whatsoever.

Do you have a tmobile subscripttion on it as well though?
I don't want to use a subscription, just don't want my battery to die by having it connect to 3G or searching for it.

No I had unlocked it. I use airtel/aircel in India. It should work just the same I think. I keep it on airplane mode always. When I need net, I use WiFi or I get off the airplane mode and enable the mobile data to access internet. Simple as that. There is a setting in the buld.prop as well which allows me to restrict the mobile connection to 2g only thereby enabling me to receive messages if I want to. It saves the battery needed for scanning for 3g or lte network. So I guess shouldn't be a problem irrespective which network you are on.

Ok, I found this and I tried it.
You can 1st enable phone by editing the build.prop settings (need to be rooted for that).
Once that is done, you need to type in *#*#4636#*#*
It automatically opens a Testing Menu of Settings. This gives useful information including battery etc.
Under the Tablet menu, there is an option to disable the radio all-together. I haven't tried this , but I did try changing the network mode from 2g-3g-4g and it worked for that. I would still suggest you use the airplane mode and put on/off wifi as and when needed. I didn't try this because saw some people complaining that after disabling it, they were not able to re-enable the radio. So be-warned about this.

[Q] Any success with Bluetooth/WiFi Tether To Nexus 7

Has anyone sucessfully done this with the One X+?
I was really hoping to be able to do this with my Nexus 7.
Yes, several times, have used both methods successfully but ultimately prefer to use Bluetooth...

I am stock on the HOX+, just using Settings > More > Mobile network sharing - then just enable portable Wi-Fi hotspot from there. You can enable BT tethering in the same place.

can turn on hotspot
My phone is rooted and running the stock HTC rom. but i am unable to turn on wifi hotspot from settings menu; it keeps saying call 611..
Well you are suppose to have it with your current data plan from your cell provider. 611 is to call and have it enabled.

whats the point of rooting then!
AT&T will ask for a special package of data plan to use tethering. my understanding was rooting the phone will let u circumvent that
AT&T Teathering
If you download system manager and go into the systems apps section, there will be an app called "teathering guard". If you dissable the event called something like "ATT UI" teathering will work without having to switch to a different data plan. I can upload screenshots if needed.
Can you post those screen shots? I downloaded system tuner, clicked events, system apps, found tether guard and disabled all of the events, rebooted and it still isn't working. Elegancia att.
Also, the app "WiFi tether" doesn't work either. It fails at 'setting ad hoc mode' and doesn't broadcast the ssid.

[Q] Wifi tether problem with Droid 2 A955

I have a Droid 2 (A955) which was on Verizon. I got it moved over to Straight Talk and then rooted it. I installed Wireless Wifi Tether - which works fine on my Used-to-be-Verizon-now-StraightTalk rooted Incredible 2. Everything looks fine until I try to load a page through the tether and then I get this in my browser window:
Your phone is not currently set up to be used as a modem or mobile hotspot. To see if these services are available, click "Continue."
Clicking continue takes me to dunsp.vzw.com/newSelfProvisioning/SelfProvisioning and offers the message:
This device is currently not authorized to access Dial-Up Networking services, please contact your wireless service provider for more details.
I haven't done anything other than root the phone using Framaroot. No ROMS, nothing else. Help please?

No longer able to turn on portable WiFi hotspot on phone

Hi I've looked and looked over this site and others and did not find a solution. I have had this phone STOCK NO MODS huawei 5x for about 1 year now (April)
kiw-l24
Kiw-l24c567b351
Emui-4.0
6.0.1
I have metro pcs as my carrier. I have had NO issues with Service or the phone till now. The phone was purchased new and unlocked.
My issue Is this. When going to TURN ON mobile hotspot under settings when I try to turn it on it gives me 2 pop up messages
1. Verifying Service authorization please wait
2. Then after the 1st message cycles it reads " There is a temporary network problem that is preventing the mobile hotspot function from being enabled. Please try again later"
I have never had issues with the hot spot and have not made changes to any settings that I am aware of.
I have called metro 4 times but had no luck with them. My plan includes hotspot and I'm not using any 3rd party app to use it. I've read that most phones will verify you have hot spot with your carrier and I assumed the issue may be with my plan. I have never changed it and called metro to verify I do have mobile hotspot. I think that's all the info I have at this time. Please let me know if there is more needed to try and resolve this. I appreciate your help.
Can some one at least tell me if this is a phone issue or a provider issue please?
