Today, above app was suddenly installed on my Note 4!
What purpose has this app and have more Note 4-users this app on his/her phone?
Can you check (please) in your app-manager (all files)?

It's in the firmware already. There's a few apps like this pre installed

But why is it using data? I disabled facebook and have never used it yet this is running and according to data usage has also consumed 59MiB of background data!?

All options to do so are greyed out. It accumulates about 500KiB of storage and network data a day despite the actual app being disabled (and not once ever being launched ) the only thing I can do is clear the storage data.
This really bothers me.

Seems you don't have root. But if you did then you'd have a few options eg uninstall, freeze. I can hear your frustration! Root!

Answer to facebook services on Andriod
I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S6, and wanted to remove any of the bloatware on the device. I disabled the FB app first, since I don't use it on any of my mobile devices. I then came across the com.facebook.appmanager and com.facebook.system applications listed under the application manager on the device. I first stopped and uninstalled the two apps, but I found that they both will update on their own over wi-fi once it's connected. I can't disable the two apps as that option is greyed out. I believe the answer to this is in the permissions of the appmanager stating that it may
1: Download files without notification
2: full network access
3: run at startup
Curiously after I have attempted to kill the app on any occasion that I'm using the device, I received an email from FB stating that they're sorry that I'm having trouble getting into my account. So, in conclusion, the apps must be gathering data (at least all configured email accounts) from the device and sending it to FB. Once FB identifies that an email address on the device matches an email account in their database, it sends the email. Looks like my next step is to root the device.

tried removing it using titanium backup
i tried removing this in my note 4 using titanium backup. sad to say it is making my auto rotate functionality unusable. it took me half day troubleshooting and identifying whats making auto rotate faulty. Why does Samsung loves bloatware? Its making me frustrated as i want to stay on touchwiz but it has so many bloatware. I dont want to go on other roms as majority of them are buggy. Does anybody know any solution with my problem? I dont want any freeze/disable solution pls.....

I've heard about this before in a different thread. It's something to do with a lib that's in the app. Try renaming the apk to bak see if that works, might keep the lib
Sent from my SM-N920C using Tapatalk

Just disable it and you are done
Facebook wont self update anymore
And com.facebook.system

Same problem
I tried app called package disabler pro. There i searched for all com.facebook app/processes and disabled them. Now i dont see them any more in my process list in setting. The app costs littlebit but if it doesnt work, you can ask for you money back. It can also disable almost any bloatware.

Hi,
If you're not rooted, just disable it. From my experience, it has something to do with Facebook auto update. I personally doesn't use the Facebook apk itself, I once disable it but it later come back with latest version installed. So you are fine to disable com.facebook.appmanager. However, if you're rooted, better not to uninstall these Facebook related services/apk. Again, from my experience, I might be WRONG, I once uninstall them completely, my air wake up (waking up the phone by hover over your proximity sensor) doesn't work anymore.
Conclusion: you can disable them just fine.

Can someone post a list of apps to freeze?

Everytime I flash, I have to refreeze all the battery eaters ._. Maybe someone can post a list that will help everybody
So... what do YOU freeze? So far I only have media center and DRM's.

Unless you're still on JI6 there's no need to Freeze or remove anything... that's just me. I haven't had any issues with battery life and I haven't had to freeze or remove any app..
Perhaps you can tell me what apps or services you'd like to freeze or delete and I can tell you my experience with them?
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Well so far when I freeze media center and DRM's I get a LOT LOT LOT better battery life (like 50%) [nero v5]
@Demize, I don't know anything in particular
I froze wifi calling. Even when it was disabled it would use 2-5% cpu for no apparent reason.

visual voicemail (use google voice obv)
Don't freeze or delete visual voicemail even if you don't use it, you will have a virtual parade of shutdowns. It's tied into other critical services. Don't mess with G talk or you will have market headaches beyond your wildest dreams.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Thanks for this guys. Keep them coming, im getting a good amount of battery life more.
I'm new to freezing stuff. I have a couple questions.
1. What does DRM stand for? (ie what am I looking for to freeze)
2. The phone must be rooted in order to use Titanium Pro to freeze, correct?
1. DRM = Digital Rights Management
2. Yes
I have visual voicemail uninstalled and google talk frozen. Have had no problems with my phone in over 24 hours.

[Q] Disable Facebook background services?

Has anybody found a way to disable the facebook background services? I don't want it constantly searching for my location and I don't use notifications or the picture upload.
I just check facebook manually from time to time and don't want it hanging out in ram.
Have you tried going into Facebook setting and clicking "never" for refresh interval? Also make sure location is off for messenger services.

Grab the app "rom toolbox pro" from the play store. It's gonna cost a few bucks, but it has a section to disable apps in a function called auto start manager, and will stop a background services at will, but still allows the app to be opened up and used if you want.
I wish titanium backup would do this, but no luck.
There is a free version of rom toolbox pro, but I'm unsure if that will allow the disable feature. it's worth a shot though...good luck..g
Or...you could flash ics and use the built in options...

I don't think the Kill option for ICS will kill the background process. And the issue is even if you kill it, it will auto restart after a while. (I am running the ICS leak rom)
If Rom Tool Box can disable the service then there has got to a command line option to do the same....

I was looking for this info as well.
Ok, so I found this... You need to open a terminal and then SU first...
pm disable com.facebook.katana/com.facebook.katana.service.UploadManager
This disables the MediaUpload service.
But then I started facebook manually, and closed it and now I had 5 services running. lovely...
Looks like Facebook now wants to track your location too.
So I tried using Facebook through the stock browser and you know what? Its pretty damn close to the App now, without all of the crap running in the background.
Uninstalling Facebook App, bye bye

Darn, so this is the only way?
The problem is... Facebook isn't the only application that auto restarts. I have a half dozen that do.
How can I prevent these things from restarting?
I think all these background processes result in my very poor battery life on an S2. I get around 10-11 hours with light use.

or if you are using FB only sometimes, you can freeze it in your favorite app and in the case you need it to run just unfreeze it I know it's not the best solution but for your purposes I think is suitable
If you can disable 1 fb background process, then it is also possible to disable them all, right?

Is there really no way?? With MIUI and the "force close" option (long press back button) and blocking the rest with autostarts, the FB APP doesn't start the background service.. Now i'm on CM10.1 and searching too a solution.

See that is the problem. There is no way to tell what app is doing it. Could try airplay detector and see if its being pushed by that advert program and that will also tell what app it is if it happens to be using that. Other then that it is just a matter of elimination.

Ok then it will just be a matter of removing apps one by one till you find it. Start with any apps that you did not get from here or the play store.
Never use apps from an untrusted source. They can contain worse things then ads. Like keyloggers.
Sorry it is "airpush detector" not "airplay detector", as I mentioned.

Get 1GB free RAM memory after boot, without root

In Settings... General... Application manager... All you can disable a lot of the bloat that comes with the phone, freeing a good amount of RAM memory. Simply click on the app and then click Disable.
These are the apps I disabled; I focused on apps that were appearing in memory:
Accessories - Verizon accessories catalog
Amazon - Amazon widgets
Appstore - Amazon appstore
Caller Name ID - Verizon caller ID (paid service)
Clock Widget - Nice but takes valuable screen space
LG Intelligent Agent - No idea what this does
Life Square - LG life logging software
Life Square Log Manager
Music - LG music player; I use Google Play
Music - LG music widget
My InfoZone - some Verizon thing
NFL Mobile
Slacker - Music radio service
Slide Aside - Alternative task switcher, largely useless as implemented
Sync Service - Verizon sync service for Backup Assistance+ Contacts
Text Link - Allows you to take actions based on text in messages, such as add a calendar entry
Text Link Engine
Verizon Location Agent - Provides Verizon-specific web services API to web apps that want your location
Verizon Mobile Security - Verizon mobile malware protection
Verizon Tones - Verizon ring tones shop
Voice Mate - LG's attempt at Google Now / Siri
VZ Navigator - Verizon maps service (paid service)
I'm still trying to determine whether to disable the app called Vzw SMS Filter Service; does anyone know what it does?

It frees up memory for the apps and services that I'm interested in running. Why should I be running Verizon Location Services for the next year or two taking up 25mb of memory and forcing my apps into inactive state or worse flushing them from ram altogether? Makes no sense at all. I got this phone hoping I could run more stuff and keep Chrome active, and found that LG and Verizon had used up most of the extra memory capacity with junk I'm not interested in.

Not to mention, a lot of the worthless bloat has the 'receive boot completed' permission, which can make your phone take longer to startup. Disabling it gets rid of that.
(For the apps you want to keep but don't want starting up at boot, Xposed + BootManager works nicely)

If the app has been disabled it never needs to be handled, cleared, or killed.

It's odd, the LG Intelligent Agent still shows as being cached in RAM even though it's been disabled. And even when I Force stop it it's still in cache. Weird!

Question Samsung removed clear cache option. Why?

Years ago, the “Device maintenance” section of Samsung TouchWiz settings had an option to clear the cache of all apps in one click, in addition to the option in the "Apps" section to do so for each app individually. Currently, One UI only has the option to do it for each app separately. The "Device care" storage section doesn't have the first (and more convenient) option anymore.
Why?
I clear my S23U cache using recovery option.
On my N10+/Pie I still have the old Device Care with 360° (firewall blocked) but it can't clean individual app caches.
SD Maid Pro does a good cleaning job, I use this along with Device Care and clearing the system cache about once a month. That's mostly all the maintenance I have to do. This load will be 3 yo in June, still running fast and stable.
My S4+/Kitkat Touchwiz had nothing at all for that in the firmware.

Again, individual apps can be cleaned in the "Apps" section in settings. But the "Device maintenance" (in TouchWiz) allowed it to be done in one click. Now, "Device care" in One UI lacks that option.

That's the system partition cache. I'm not talking about that.

I miss this function too. Sometimes a lot of space are in the ass and now like you I need to do it one by one...
It was an Android function, not specific a Samsung function. Therefore Google removed it, not Samsung...

Android Assistant free on Google Play Store does the same job
I use SD Maid for this, and the other tasks it carries out.

... and possibly a lot of other things on the side.
Security-wise that app is no option with all it's required permissions, while reportedly triggering malware reports...
Add to this that many comments in Play store indicate the app is not working as advertised.
Isn't that what Memory Guardian (part of the Good Guardian package on Galaxy Store) is for ?

Memory guardian deals with memory, not storage. It does not clear caches...
I thought the "Optimize" button automatically does this including looking for apps constantly crashing, closing apps running in the background and looking for abnormal battery usage.

Cleans the system logs which is useful but not the app caches.
According to this Samsung support, the only way to do it for all apps is to perform a factory reset. I guess it's also possible on a 3rd party app which is the better route than doing a factory reset.

Lol, their cure for everything with their world class inept tech support
Been using SD Maid pro for 3 years and it works very well. Does this and more, helps to keep the system running fast. Zero damage to files or apps, just be careful if you alter the default settings or delete duplicate files (not recommended).
This load will be 3 yo in June, still running like a bat out of hell.
Samsung improved Good Guardians Galaxy App Booster which runs fast and well now. It sped up SD Maid's cache clearing noticably for me. Didn't cause any harm.
Other than policing apps for misbehavior and resolving any issue that may arise, doing the above and clearing the system cache will keep a load running well for years. No stinking factory reset needed if you do this and DO NOT upgrade/update the firmware.

Because I have virtually zero issues, no malware and loads of playtime because of this. This device continues to fulfill its mission rather then waste my time and that's the only thing that counts.
It really sucks You can do what you want... I use whatever works and comes in handy.

That's the system partition cache. We're not talking about that here. We're discussing app caches.
The two should not be confused.
